First I signed up online and was given first available pickup time as 10 am. A very late start for moving day. The guy at the store told me that was a computer glitch they ARE open earlier. There were three of us trying to rent all at 10 am. It took 45 mins to get my rental (he also had to take care of gas and propane customers. I rented a cargo van. The guy got in the van and spent 5 mins attempting to start it🤪. I stopped him and said even if it starts I do not want this vehicle that is likely to break down on me. (Already in a tight time crunch. My storage I was clearing out closes at 4:00â€¼ï¸). He gave me the next size up a huge box truck for the same price as the cargo van. Getting started at almost 11:00 I literally had to run carrying heavy heavy loads for the next 6 hours straight in 90 degrees. (I am 63 years old and I took only one 5 minute break when I literally thought I was having a heart attack). I had no choice because had I not gotten everything out of my storage I would need to pay another month of $500. The guy at the station was great. Did everything he could (considering he was running gas station and UHaul rental himself.) Bottom line if the online reservation system offered the correct pickup time. I would have been there at 9 am. And if the van was in a proper state of repair I would have been out of there by 9:10. I would have had 2 extra hours. I could have taken an hour lunch and still not have needed to run carrying huge heavy boxes and furniture. I would not be in this state of exhaustion I am still in two days later. You are lucky I did not have a heart attack while driving your vehicle. This turned into the WORST moving day of my life. I am not a cryer, however, for the final hour when I felt like I could not lift another thing or even take another step tears of pain streamed involuntarily from my eyes due to pain. This situation was NOT due to the man doing everything he could to get me out of there. It is the responsibility of the inaccurate online program AND the uhaul vehicle lacking maintenance. Pickup was great. However something went wrong during drop off. I was in the middle of using the mobile app because there was no attendant. Then a woman asked if I was checking in and I said yes. She took the key and said she had to go to the bathroom first. For 35 minutes there was nobody to be found. Upon renting a truck... UHaul could ask the potential customer the following question; purpose for use. Also, what's available for use in the truck; i.e. hand truck, dolly, rope to tie things down from moving around, etc. If these items are not already in the truck... it is the renter's responsibility to bring their own. I thought there was something to tie down the refrigerator I was picking up but I did not see any in the back of the van. I was able to stop at a hardware store on the way to my pickup destination and purchase some rope. Overall, the van worked well and the service was great! Thank you, JohnJohn I.

In general I dislike U-Haul's habit of not providing vehicles with a full tank of fuel. It is always difficult to gauge how much fuel to refill when it's not full to start with. When I brought the pickup truck back to the service station where I rented it, I put in one gallon of gas, which I thought was generous for only driving it 20 miles. The gentleman there insisted that was not enough, so I pumped another gallon. I seriously doubt that the truck gets 10mpg. I suspect the fuel gauge just didn't have time to settle. It's only a matter of $5 but still I felt it to be somewhat unfair. I don't want to get this store in trouble so please don't criticize them personally. I've waited years for a U-Haul rental truck facility close to me so I will definitely use them again. This is more a general complaint about U-Haul's policy of renting vehicles with unfilled tanks. The guy there was a bit of a jerk. Told me to park the truck 'in a stall' when I returned it. I parked it in an open parking stall. He came out and said 'not there' and pointed toward the back, so I moved the truck to the back. I went inside and he said, 'no, you'll need to move it to a gas stall.' Arrived @8am to pick up my vehicle, no one showed up till 845a, why? He was sleeping in the cargo van that I was supposed to be picking up. Another person waiting to pick up a vehicle saw him back there. Now for the return, I drove a total of 16 miles, filled up the gas tank which is at their location, came out to $11.98.
