The pick-up location did not open when it was supposed to. Upon calling the 800 number an agent tried to help and reach them but were unable to do so. It left a very unprofessional impression with me. In addition, the vehicle was not very clean on the outside (not a big deal), but the windshield was very dirty and had clearly not been cleaned/prepped for the next driver (me). Also, the battery died in the vehicle. When I arrived at my destination (Corvallis, Oregon), the vehicle would not start the next morning! I called the 800# and they dispatched a service to replace the battery. I appreciate that, but this delay caused me to pay for time when the movers idle while they waited for me to arrive with the vehicle.

I had a great experience and was well taken care of. Even though the 10 foot truck I wanted was not available, the 9 foot cargo van got the job done.

I showed up for a Noon Rental to a sign saying closed from 12 to 1. Why would you allow me to rent a vehicle at a time I can't pick it up. I had people lined up to help which had to leave before we were done because of the delay. The return process did not go smoothly, the app kept asking to turn on location services on which they were, and no way to move forward. Wasted more time trying to figure it out. It wasted about an hour of my time before and after in total, Very disappointing U-Haul.

the truck had 1/4 tank of gas when we picked it up. We expected to pay UHaul to refuel it if we didn't. We called to ask if we had to add gas before returning the truck and were told that we could pay UHaul to refuel the truck but in addition to the fuel charge, there would be a $30 fee if the truck had less than 1/4 tank of gas in it. It would have been nice to know this up front.

I would prefer you have the gas tank filled and require customers return it filled. I picked up a van with just a quarter tank, so I then had to get gas before starting my move, and again to return. Rental car companies always require gas to be filled or you pay extra.

First time using U-Haul services and wasn't 100% sure what to expect myself, though my S.O, having an extensive background in construction and also having moved several times in the past, some of which using U-Haul, had an idea and was there to help me through it. Check-in process was a bit of a joke... Namely the verification of your drivers license where we experienced much frustration. The service requires you take a Live Photo of your license (and if applicable, your other means of verification) right there on the spot, which I understand the importance of entirely, but in my case... My phones rear camera is busted and the front facing camera is simply not capable of capturing an image even remotely clear enough to make out, especially [smaller] writing and script. So after some minutes and many photo attempts later, the screen tells me they cannot complete my checkin and verification because I can't supply a decent photo. Reached out to a rep, FINALLY got a response call back only to tell me there's nothing they can do (no live chat verification of some sort, and service doesn't allow for photos to be uploaded so my photos of my current license I've saved for these exact times were useless; only options were to figure it out or contact another office and request a manual verification with someone having to come out, etc etc ....yeah no.) Very frustrated at this point. We've both lost drive and interest in even finishing the checkin or completing our move. Finally manange some good pictures, left on a ‘please wait while we verify your information' page for over 10 minutes The worse of it all being that I WAS PAYING for every minute they had me resend pictures and resend again just to get denied THEN wait wait wait for any kind of response to this and that.... All that time eaten up by this ridiculousness was time I paid to reserve the stupid truck for our move in the first place! I think we lost seriously over an hour of the 4 hours I reserved with the truck. And then predictably, what, with a good quarter of our allotted time snatched away, we were late returning the truck so I had to PAY DOUBLE for such an extension. Lovely.

When I got to the location where I was supposed to pick up I was told they didn't have the van & sent me to another location. The girl was very rude who helped me. The other location wa nice but this was very inconvenient

Organize, organize, organize! Worst experience I've ever had with Uhaul. Uhaul costed me almost as much money outside of the truck rental than renting the truck itself. You should not only be concerned about improving for the next customer but the previous customers that has recently gone through similar situations as I, which could be a waste of time as all we will get from you is...Thank you for your response. I am not a happy customer.

Location was fine. The candidly, the uhaul reservation process has failed me twice with very last minute cancellation notices. I understand high demand issues associated with this time of year and the Bay Area in general. However I believe the company has higher duty of care when it comes to communicating acancelled reservation and then also doing whatever they can to make alternative arrangements for the customer. I was very lucky (twice now) to scramble mightily to get any vehicle I could at the last minute that ( had I failed) would have jeopardized my entire move and been met with considerable financial loss. Again luckily I was able to muster a solution twice virtually on my own, I and others may not be so lucky next time. Uhaul is highly reputable and established/reliable National Brand. You've let me down twice in 40 days and I now have to think twice before selecting your service and equipment in the future as well as recommending the service to others. Please work towards providing better on reliability /providing better solutions and excellent, timely communication to customers.

Yesterday I rented a truck for a quick/local move. A couple of the items were heavy, so I hired a gentleman from Home Depot to help me with the lifting. After I checked the truck back into the San Ramon location, this individual informed me that he had left his “sunglasses” case inside the uhaul truck. I assumed that's all it was, he barely spoke any English so I figured it would be easier to get the case for him myself. When I can to pick up the case this morning, I was informed that based on the contents of the case a ban was being placed on either myself or this individual. I still havnt opened the case, as I don't want anything to do with what's inside if such measures have been taken. I have always greatly appreciated services provided by uhaul, and I very much want to continue a worki relationship. I understand the severity of the situation, and have learned the importance if who I'm associated with and how if I'm not careful I can be just as guilty as someone committing a crime even if I havnt myself. I wanted to profusely apologize for what was left in t uhaul truck, and for the potential hazard that was left for another valued uhaul customer. I gassed up the truck to be equal to what I started with and was CHARGED for gas. They would not check in the truck when I returned it per new Covid policy.. I was charged for gas even though I had my gas receipt in hand when I turned in the key. NOT RIGHT - NEVER AGAIN.

The truck was out of alignment which would not be a big deal if it was a local move. However, driving 2,400 miles with a truck constantly pulling to the right gets tiresome pretty quickly. In addition, all tires were underinflated with the rear tires at 68 psi cold instead of the required 80 psi cold. Lastly, the 'Remaining Oil Life' indicator dropped to 0 halfway through our trip which alarmed us, considering we were driving through some extremely remote areas. After having a mechanic take a look, they told us it would require an oil change before we reached out final destination. Additionally, they noticed the coolant was low and recommended we buy coolant to have with us in case the truck starts overheating. You'd think the truck would be better maintained, especially when U-Haul knows in advance that it will be used for a long distance move. We arrived but the drive was much more stressful than it had to be between low tire pressure lights we couldn't get rid of, 0% oil life indicators going off, coolant being extremely low, and having to over correct to the left for 34 hours of driving due to the wheels being so out of alignment.

Our whole experience was smooth and hassle-free. The check out using the app was straightforward, the van itself was clean and drove well. Same with the return, also through the app. I was apprehensive after reading some of the reviews but we had a positive experience. Will definitely use it again and also recommend to others.

The vehicle was filthy inside and out when we picked it up - very scary especially in these times of Covid 19. My wife and I had to disinfect and clean the inside of the vehicle before we drove it and the outside (windows/hood) were caked with dirt. Terrible. Your online check in and out process is slow and lengthy, i would rather have gone inside to see someone at the counter but they are NEVER there. Went by after lunch hours on the Thursday before I rented and no one was there..totally dark despite the sign saying they woukd be in during that time.

You open too late, 9:30 am then you close for lunch from 1-2pm. I find that inconvenient. The truck was great though. Can you offer a system where I do the entire rental without the slow and laborious over the counter interaction? Like the way citi bikes are rented.

When someone reserves a dolly (or 2) and you accept the reservation, they are relying on your ability to have said tools available. Renting a truck and not having access to a dolly is like riding a bike without a seat - a serious pain in the butt. Along with that, the truck smelled like smoke, had no blankets available, was generally unclean and surged when you pressed the brakes. Unacceptable.

The people here are efficient and friendly. The vehicles could use a through cleaning between rentals. But the big down side is the online check in application. Used it twice and it took an hour each time. The app. freezes the chat person told me to restart it. I did and it just said i was checked out. But there was damage and i was not able to attach photos. Waste of hours when i cam least afford it.

All vans be cleaned outside as well as inside. Most importantly have some type of deodorizer installed. During these COVID times, I was not informed if the vehicle had gone through a proper disinfection process. Base on the uncleanliness of the van, I assumed it did not get sanitized after the last customer. This is a BIG red flag for my health and others. Please provide your consumers a peace of mind that your company is following the guidelines mandated by the governor.

The customer service was great. I have lived in this town for over 35 years and I never knew this location existed. Private, clean, secure and it was great to get both a storage unit and rental van in one spot. But again Juan was very personable and COVID 19 responsible. I look forward to having a great relationship here.

The location was closed and I was unable to figure the mobile check in. I was charged a $25.00 cleaning fee and $20.00 after hour charge although I dropped it off at 9 am???

The 24/7 check in was ridiculous. I made the reservation one week ahead of time. I did the pre check in three days prior to pick up day. And it took me over an hour to get through the process. Three failed attempts at The U-Haul.com app. Two phone calls and was forced to download the U-Haul app. Finally able to get the keys only the app would not allow me to add photos. So damage to the roof was not documented. After wasting over an hour the process was completed but not correctly. The vehicle was dirty and the windshield washer was empty. Overall a frustrating experience to say the least.

I used the app and the approval process with the chat was a little time consuming although she did a fantastic job. I had saw a smaller truck or designed different which I thought I could handle better and she was able to exchange it for me. After knowing how, the process with the app before hours turned out great. My whole experience was good, especially you guys looking out for me on the best rates. Thank You Very Much So glad it is over lol. The moving stuff that is lol

Wrong key was in the key box. Completely delayed my plan. Spend an hour with support on the phone. They resolved the issue but the root cause was the wrong key in the box. No one reached out to me to apologize and provide compensation for the screw up.

The office personnel pointed out the incorrect vehicle, after I confirmed the vehicle was acceptable through the online communication. The correct vehicle was not found clean, scratched bumper and windows were very dirty especially ALL the interior glass which the driver must have good visibility through.

No one there for pick up, had to call and wait for someone to come to office. Sign on door inaccurate. Same with drop off. No one there and sign on door when will be back and wasn't. No access to actual location so having to come back and call from outside their office. Leaving sign on door needs to be more accurate.

I did recommend this location to the neighbors next door moving. I told him how quick & East it was to rent the truck! I laughed & told the UHall manager it was so much easier now to rent rather than all that long messy paperwork like before. The manager was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Important to know that if you do not return the rental by the exact return time U-Haul will charge you for an extra day, even if the office at the site is not yet opened. It should be clear and explicitly stated to the renter that this is the case. The U-Haul app worked very well for the return, but was not able to help us with the pickup, I think because we arrived for the pickup about 45 minutes early. So important to understand the window of the pickup and drop off allowed.

The air-conditioning vents did not work In 100° heat. It was a miserable trip. The latch for the engine compartment was broken and the heat from the engine burned my feet the entire drive. I had to switch feet on the gas pedal because it was so hot. No one works at this location you have to do all of their work for them. You have to take pictures of the odometer and the inside of the truck. They figured out a way to cut costs by firing people and requiring customers to do the work they paid employees to do before.

The app to see damage to the truck didn't work and the pictures were not updated causing all pictures to be wrong. It then wouldn't upload the pictures. Took just under an hour to finish everything.

I reserved my truck to b e picked up in Hayward on Jackson St. I subsequently received a text telling me he pcik up was in San Ramon. I also reserved blankets and a dolly, neither wihich was available in San Ramon.

I was flying in to help a family member move some items out of state. 24 hours prior to my pick up I was learned that my pick up location was moved 20 miles away. Based on where the airport was and now having to travel for an extra hour to get to the pick location and back to my family members house was a pain. But I arrived about 45 minutes early (12:45). My pick up time was 1:30. When I arrived the employee informed me that they decided to close early. She had call and left me a voicemail when I was on the airplane that she was going to close the store at 1:00. It would have been great if you guys would have had the truck moved to the location for me. And not had to rush because someone wants to leave early on a Friday.

I've never been charged a fee to make a reservation. Then I'm told it's fully refundable only after completing a required survey is outrageous. I tried to speak with someone at the location, no luck.
