The lot is not lit after hours—was pitch black. It was so dark I couldn’t see the pathway and steps leading up to the orange key dropbox—and I drove by it TWICE. The only noticeable lighting comes from the back of an adjacent temple, and the temple’s adjacent loading dock looks like a junkyard and makes the area feel neglected and unsafe. In contrast, the woman I spoke to at 1-800-GO-HAUL was incredibly helpful and patient with me as I tried to find the key dropbox. She was absolutely great.

JOANNE BYour app is a real pain. All of the required photos are time consuming. Your representative was not friendly either. I’m going to need a rental truck several times this year and will not go back to San Ramon.
HONG JOnly downside was that they were out of the flat furniture dolly that I had reserved.

CASEY LReserved a truck, appliance dolly, and a dozen furniture pads. Truck was parked in a spot that made it impossible to take the check-in photos, the appliance dolly wasn't in the truck (nor was a regular dolly), and when I came back to get the appliance dolly I was told that furniture pads were unavailable. Entire experience put me well behind schedule and was an enormous waste of time and effort.
Paul HI picked up early before opening. The key was in a lockbox and easy to find. The truck was clean and well maintained.

Jacob BI just want to say you guys have really made a way for my move. It has been a blessing to have such a great team. The Dublin location was great ! And of course my Great town San Ramon with the self services after hours was amazing!!
BRIANA SThis experience could have been much better. I ordered furniture pads and they were not there. Also, on my receipt there is a $25 cleaning fee that should absolutely NOT be on there. This is wildly unfair and should not be charged. I left the truck cleaner than when I got it and followed the instructions in the back of the truck about sweeping and folding any furniture pads, which I didn’t have to do because you forgot to put them in there even though I ordered them initially.
JUSTIN HOnly problem was that I opted out of the $30 safe move fee, but I was charged for it anyways.
Ronald HIn reservation: asked to return to Concord. Drove to Concord. Was told had to return to San Ramon. Tacked on an extra 25 miles of driving and raised my rate. Awful management

Haowen DWhen I went to use the app to pick up the van,the app kept telling me I had to upload at least one picture when I had uploaded at least one for each requested view. I could never fully check the van out. It was good the office was open when I returned as it was impossible to check the van in from the app. When I received the van it was on EMPTY. I HAD to go get gas before I could drive anywhere. That is not customer service.
RICHARD BLocation was good but truck was very worst condition like not clean from inside and transmission was in worse condition I am really surprised this was second time happened with me from U- Haul rental truck

PAVEL RThe cab of the truck was dirty with crumbs and dog hair. You could tell it has not been cleaned in a while. The location of my pick up was changed the night before adding an hour of driving to my trip. It was not convenient and I would not have booked the rental if that was the original location. By the time we were notified of the change, it was too late to secure a different reservation with another company. The mobile pick up process was lengthy but nice to not have a specific window for pick up or drop off based on an offices open hours.

SHAWN MI feel I was scammed. I rented a truck on $30 daily rate. Drove the truck less than 5 total miles. Left the truck cleaner than I found it. The were 2 wet smelly u-haul blankets and a trash bag in the back. I disposed of both. Got a $25 cleaning bill and a $10 dollar gas charge! I will be smarter and use budget or pensky next time. Both avalible in my town.
Kellen MShowed up at our return time to office open but no one in it. After getting ahold of someone who seemed to be sleeping she came out said she’d email receipt, didn’t look at the truck nothing, didn’t get my receipt for a full 24hrs and then had a cleaning charge very upset about the poor customer care. Also truck inside was not clean upon pickup.
ROBERT DThe truck had 5 miles of gas in it when I picked it up. Miles not gallons. Luckily it was close to a gas station. Then I was told by the app that I needed to return it with 5/16 of a tank. So in addition to paying for the gas I used I had to pay for the next person’s gas.
Nur MThe person I rented from did not tell me that I might need to drop off uhaul at Sonora even though I requested Mariposa. Next day I get an email that I need to return it to a different location. I call customer care and they say that I will be charged a fee if I dropped of at mariposa, which wasn't even true, so customer support was also bad. I called the San ramon office and there was this lady who was Super Mean and transferred me to customer care when I was asking why this happened. Who was this ridiculous lady. Would definitely not recommend the San ramon location because of the lack of clarity and mean lady.
SAMEER PI would say that the van, which we actually rent the same van frequently, should be wiped down at times. There are clips in the back of the van that have been broken for some time that we have reported in the past that still are not fixed. The inside of the cab, where spills have happened, have not been cleaned. The spills were reported in May, and were still there in November. It was the same spill.
Kim IThere was some type of error not on my part with the way the rental was done. We sat in the parking lot for an hour and talked to more than one person before we were able to get our truck. We went into the app but it kept saying there was no reservation. It was very frustrating and I feel I should be compensated. Our timing for the whole day was affected because of this.
CHRISTOPHER CI ordered my U-Haul with plenty of advanced notice to have my pickup location in Concord. For one because they’re operating hours ensured I would deal with a human and not your garbage app. And second because that location was near my house. You changed location to San Ramon the day before a very big move with zero notification. Not only did this add 25 miles to my move from Pittsburg to MountainView.. but also, San Ramon isn’t even open on Saturday so I indeed had to use your garage application, which is unable to recognize my Washington Drivers license hence why I chose Concord in the first place. I had to fraudulently use my wife’s drivers license to be able to finally get the keys to the vehicle. And you still had the audacity to charge me an extra mileage fee. YOU ARE THE REASON I EXCEEDED THE MILEAGE LIMIT. I will from now on only seek any other company besides U-Haul for all future moves, you will be a last resort for me. Good day.
HANNAH KI was double charged for fuel. The truck was on empty when I picked it up, so I had to fill it up. I filled it up above the line that I received the truck, only to be charged for the gas. It was also parked where it was difficult to get into the cab and authenticate the license plate.

Margarita ADrivers seat has a spring, tiny wire, poking thru the seat cover. Got caught on my clothes n poked a hole thru them. Twice. Inspect seats on older trucks like this. 600,000 miles. Transmission seemed to make a weird noise. shifting was harsh in both accelerating and decelerating.

Trent NThe location charged me 21 extra miles than what I drove and exaggerated the amount of fuel I used. This took an additional 30 minutes of my time to fight the charges and didn't get the exaggerated fuel charge off my bill. Also looked at their reviews, this is not the first time they have tried to tack on extra charges to people that did not deserve it.

Andrei KWhat a difference between this place and the place I picked up the U-Haul in Nevada. A guy named Juan called me the morning of the 14th and left a message to call him back, stating he wanted to confirm my drop off time the 15th (because he had the truck slotted to be rented to another customer. I tried to call Juan back multiple times....no luck. I actually dropped off the truck early (1:00 p.m. on the 14th...A day early.). Office was closed, and no answer again from Juan on numerous phone call attempts. Finally reached someone at your call center who told me to create an account and return the truck online... What a joke! Jesus, I'm 63 years old...too old for this shit on I-Phone stuff. Taking pictures of milage, odometer, where I parked, the cleanliness of your truck, and how much gas I left (which was 1/4 tank more than when I picked it up.) It sucked....Please do better...

Choua V | Overall ExperienceThe storage facility staff are nice and the place is secure, however rats got into all of our stuff and a lot of our furniture is now ruined since it is covered in feces and urine. We did not have any food or drink stored in our unit, so I am thinking maybe they went after some cleaning supplies or something. Unless you can store your things in a rat proof container, I would not recommend storing it here.
