All would have been well if the incompetent attendant from the main Uhaul facility in San Bernardino hadn’t arrived and interfered with the electronic pickup. I was delayed for half of an hour because he had to drive elsewhere to get the keys. When he returned, he discovered a set of keys were already at the Mini Mart. Then he refused to give me the keys even though I was on that screen in the app. on my phone. He couldn’t find the reservation on his computer, so he told me I couldn’t have the truck. When I insisted and refused to leave, he finally called someone who gave him the ok to release the truck. Then he said that he didn’t have the dolly. I went home and complained by phone to a competent UHaul help person who straightened that problem out. I had to go back to the Mini Mart for the dolly and blankets that were at the pickup location the whole time! What a fiasco!!

The location was about to close and instead of redoing the contract the guy by the name of Mario signed the contract stating I was going to be reimbursed. A month later now and I still haven’t seen anything yet after calls and calls to and hours on hold

when I picked up truck there was only 1/4 tank gas. When I got to place I was moving from I put keys in cup holder and got out not locking door. When I went to get in truck it was locked with keys inside. I went to am pm where I rented and they had no spare key. Told me I would have to get locksmith. If I had purchased insurance they could unlock me. This site used to be a uhaul store... now it is a AM PM store. I have rented trucks many times in last 3 years and this time I was dissatisfied. Then when I drop off in San Clemente they told me I was good to go then today I see they charged my checking account 20.00 more!

The man working the counter told me he couldn’t take the truck because his computer was down, he didn’t offer me any options and continued talking and joking with one of his customers buying beer at the mini mart. I suggested he write the truck mileage and gas down and call someone or enter it into the system once his computer was fixed. He laughed and said it didn’t work that way and that we were out of luck. I made a few calls to U-haul for help and was eventually forwarded to U-haul regional who asked that I hand my cellphone to the guy at the counter. About this time another guy who had been going through a dumpster the whole time we were there walked in and asked the counter guy if he should write down the mileage and gas. The counter guy agreed and said my partner will help you, give him the truck keys. The dumpster guy then climbed into the truck and wrote down the information on a scrap of trash. Between puffs of his cigarette, the dumpster guy said we had to clean the back of the truck out which looked clean to us as we just moved furniture. We wiped down the back of the truck with rags and then waited for the counter guy to come out, return my cellphone, and tell us it was OK to leave. The entire experience was negative and time consuming and not something I wanted to deal with after moving furniture all day.
