Southside Rental was excellent to work with. Uhaul itself was problematic. The system for after hours returns absolutely does not work. It also does not have any ability to report a problem. I am left checking my card online banking to see if I have a bullshit late return charge, despite having called a CS representative while being at Southside taking various photographs of the location/ condition of the trailer.Charles S.

I reserved a 15 foot uhaul and was given a 10 footer. Wasn't able to get the 15 footer at all and they would not accommodate me for their mistake. I got charged $25 for gas after I had brought it back when it was just a tick under full. This place is a joke and the employees are only there for a paycheck and nothing else.Brad H.

Although I used the online check in when returning the vehicle on time on Sunday, I was charged for an extra day because the location was closed Sunday and staff checked the van in on Monday. No one has responded to my complaint.Chantal C.

It took over 45 minutes for me to get the rental then the equipment I wanted to rent that said it was available online was not and the lady tried to sub me with a more expensive option of a trailer and wanted to charge me $0.79/mile on a trailer I used my own vehicle with and she then had to get the owner. Then when I went to return the trailer the app wouldn't work and it took another 45 minutes to just get it returned!Courtney T.

Terrible service, new employee on her first day no training and had to wait for her to get any help, dirty truck, they couldn't even locate the keys, pick up and drop off times were not adjusted for the length of time needed, I had no idea they would not be open when I returned the truck. My cargo van smelled like an ashtray--actually caused a major asthma attack. It had not been swept out from someone hauling mulch in it so I swept it out. The right turn signal didnt work-so not very safe :( Southside rental has always been excellent to rent from previouslydiane C.

Office was not open on Sunday, however, after calling UHaul customer service we were able to drop it off at the location. The next morning we were charged $60 for pads we returned. I called the office. They claim the pads were not there and did not refund our money. The location is UNSECURED (no gates, fences, etc.). Bloomington has a serious homeless problem. While we were dropping off the trailer there was a person "casing" the area. If the pads did go missing it was because the location is UNSECURED and looks like a junk yard (literally). No plan to use UHaul again.Larry S.
It was a little odd that I tried to reserve it at the one close to me, but was given one 10 miles farther away. I think they charged me 69 cents per mile, so that's about 14 bucks extra, plus gas. Not a huge deal, but still.....David G.
I was not given all the information about my rental before pickup. I used the 24 hour pickup on my phone because I had to pickup on a Sunday. I called multiple times the week before to get questions answered but I was still not given the correct information from the people at this location or directly from u haul customer service. I've never had a problem with this location for pickup which is why I chose it, but I've also never picked up when they are closed. It took me over an hour to actually get the keys because they needed multiple contacts for me( which I didn't have because I wasn't informed that I needed this) and then I had to go and put more money on my debit card because I also wasn't told I would be charged $100 deposit. Overall very stressful and very disappointedLaVon T.

The right blinker light and right tail light were burnt out. This seems like a basic safety check that should have been done on the van prior to rental. I did not realize it until I was 30 miles away.Elizabeth K.

No one told us our selected drop off time (5:00 pm) was after hours when ordering or picking up. We attempted to drop off at 1:30 pm on a Saturday and they were closed. We had no directions for a truck return after hours. We called customer support and the representative was horribly rude. No help at all. We had to figure it out ourselves.JUSTISS C.

I think it is a little crazy to have customers sign in their location when bringing the vehicle back. Not everyone has a smart phone available. I couldn't do the return process on mobile due to this feature. I was afraid I would get charged another day for this. So this feature should NOT be required.Benjamin C.

The van was covered with snow there was no ice scraper for the snow. When I went into ask for a scraper they gave me one that was very small. There was a couple other vans that did not have as much snow on them however they did not give those to me to rent.Brett R.

When I tried to check in using the uhaul website I was constantly having to redo the process because my phone would refresh the page, which made me unable to check in the rental since it was a loop of getting to a certain point and being unable to continue. Fixing the mobile site would be incredibly useful.ARIEL F.

My favorite U-Haul. I think we first used them in 1968 when we moved from Purdue to Nashville, Indiana. Long time ago. The changes U-Haul dumped on me over required "towing vehicles" was a hassle. How International Scouts and 4-wheel Jeep Cherokees became unacceptable for towing vehicles cost you some business but that hasn't affected the choice of my favorite U-Haul. Overall a good experience. Only hiccup was they didn't have any furniture pads which I had reserved with the truck in the reservation. The lady said they had 180 furniture pads but someone had a one way rental and took all the pads. They should have kept the number of pads already reserved instead of letting the other renter took them all.JOHNNY H.

Jason at Less Stress Rental went above and beyond in helping me and making sure that i got the equipment I needed to get my car home after it had broken down. He was very helpful. He drove me to South Side rentals to make sure we got the equipment needed and then helped us get everything secured and on our way. I cant thank him enough for everything he did. Keys were not available when I arrived (after my pickup time). Luckily someone was there and got the keys for me, but I don't know what I would have done if he hadn't been there. It also looks like I may be charged for furniture pads which were not provided as well as $25 for using less than 1/4 tank of gas. I'm not sure if that was just an estimate before actual charges were applied, but that seems very steep.ALISON C.
I arranged to have a car haul trailer rented at 3pm. I arrived at 3pm and after required check in proceeded with getting the trailer around 3:25. After leaving the lot, upon loading the truck, it was noticed that one of the tires had sidewall damage . The tire was unsafe and we were going to run 200 miles. Upon getting back to U Haul, the attendant was unable to make a paperwork transfer for the other trailer. However, he did leave notes and said it was good to go. Because it was near closing time, the attendant did not accompany me to drop and get the other trailer they noted was available. This made it very difficult to line up to the hitch with frustration. I drove back and loaded the vehicle on the trailer. After loading the vehicle on the second trailer, it was apparent that the wheel strap had been previously damaged and was too short to go over the wheel and tie down. Now, I was real frustrated!! I took the trailer back to the rental place and they were closed. I could not get anyone on the phone. I went back to the house and got tools and switched the defective wheel strap with the one from the trailer that had the bad tire. Then back and reloaded the truck I have used U Haul products many times in my 59 years. The equipment has always been quality and in good working order. However, it appears that standards are slack at this location. The equipment is only as good as the general maintenance inspections that the local shop should be providing! It is not the responsibility of the renter to assure and maintain your equipment or knowing what to look for to assure safe and efficient use of your products. This situation is totally unacceptable and I would like reimbursement for my rental. for the additional 2 hours of time to make your equipment right. The delay caused me to have to drive part of the way in the dark, which I do not like to do when pulling a load. I look forward to your response and corrective actions required to assure this does not happen to future customers. I rented truck DC 1415G, the drivers seatbelt needs replaced. The height adjustment was broken so it keep sliding down. The retractor on the should belt was also broken so the belt was loose and twisted so I guess the height adjustment being broken too didn't really matter. The speedometer was also broken. It showed I was going 75mph to 80mph. When I was parked it showed 20 mph. Other than that it was an ok experience.ANDREW P.
