Southside Rentals gave us just about every problem we could have. For starters, we were at their location for an hour and a half to get our truck and U-box when it probably should have taken 15-20 minutes. My wife also got a video of one of them backing a forklift loaded with a U-box into a trailer, which likely explains why there was a massive scratch going down the entire length of our truck. We rented a 10' foot truck and were given a 15' because they were out, we were given a double trailer for our U-box because they were out of single trailers (which meant our vehicle length was rather extensive compared to what it would have been), they were rude and belittling to my wife, lied about the availability of our U-box when I knew it was present at their location because I recieved a notification about it and a different employee confirmed with me it was there, and the list goes on and on. Employees were also not in any sort of marked clothing which made it impossible to tell who was an employee and who was a customer with everyone running around.

BRUNO GI reserved a utility dolly with my van rental. Not utility dollies were available at pickup. Also was not informed that the location would not be staffed on drop-off day. Had to do everything on-line.
JAN TMaybe I would recommend, maybe not. Upon leaving your lot, the gentleman at the counter said the fuel was at 7/8 of a tank. Yet, inside the truck, I noticed the gauge registered only 3/4. I pointed this out to the young man who came outside. He looked and agreed it was only 3/4. He agreed to alter the ticket. I used the truck locally, drove only 13 miles. I put two gallons of gas in the truck (I have the receipt) which returned the gauge to 3/4 when I returned it. Later that evening my return receipt said I was charged for an additional two gallons of gas. Really?!?! Four gallons of gas to run just 13 miles??? Either the young man failed to note the actual gas level to begin or you would have me believe your trucks average only about 3 miles per gallon.

DOUGLAS ENo problems at all. Checkin was quick and problem-free. I needed to drop off after closing, which was also problem-free. My emailed invoice was prompt and accurate.
RICHARD PMy reservation got canceled because I was a bit late to pick it up which I thought was odd but they were able to get me set up right away with a different truck at the same price. When I came back someone was able to immediately take the keys from me and I received the receipt via email shortly after.
MILES PI have used Southside Rental several times for U-haul rental. They have always been great to work with. The check in guy was great, made it easy, and the other worker pulled the Uhual up for me, turned it on, and had the air conditioner running for us.

Zhenxuan MDavid at Southside Rentals (Bloomington, IN) salvaged an otherwise poor experience. I had reserved an appliance dolly to move a refrigerator, and it wasn't with the truck and - being after office hours - there was no way to get one. David happened to be on site to clean out some returned trucks. He provided a utility dolly and ratchet strap, which worked in a pinch. Thank you, David!
Paul WHow did the gas gauge go from 3/8 tank to 1/4 tank when driving only 8 miles? I do expect a refund.

KAREN PWe are currently working with RepWest because both of our boxes arrived with significant water damage. A few high-dollar items (couch, mattress, vintage clothes, etc) were ruined while being stored. You could see that water came into the U-box from under the floor, which resulted in mold growth throughout both U-boxes. This is unacceptable, and if you can't store a couch and a mattress in a U-Box, I'm not sure what you're supposed to store in them. The water damage suggests that these pods are not even stored inside. From U-box website: "Your containers aren’t stored out in the open in some parking lot. They’re kept in a clean, dry, and secure U-Box storage facility that you can access anytime during business hours." There is no possible way that our boxes were stored in a dry place. I recommend being able to hold up your end of the bargain before accepting new business. We don't have any numbers from RepWest yet, but regardless of what compensation we receive, the cost to replace and restore our items is greater than the amount of money that we have paid U-Haul for U-Box services. I'm sure this kind of situation doesn't happen the majority of the time, but if it did, you'd be out of business. Additionally, we scheduled our boxes to arrive on August 3rd from 3-5 pm. We received a call around 10 am on the 3rd that the driver could not pick up the boxes because there wasn't a forklift-certified person able to get our boxes on the truck, so we'd have to move our moving day to the 4th. The person at U-Haul/U-Box said there was no possible way for us to get the boxes on the 3rd (I scheduled this delivery at least 4 weeks prior). So we had to tell our friends that their help would not be needed for our move that day. We went about our day, disappointed that we'd have to wait for a bed to sleep on. We then received a call at 3 pm from a driver saying that they were picking up our boxes and would be delivering them in an hour (wtf). Luckily, we were near our new apartment so that we could prepare, but our friends were no longer able to help us move. Then, after a long day and night of unpacking two moldy U-boxes, we realized our mattress was full of mold. This was demoralizing and inexcusable; we had to continue to sleep on the floor. All in all, it was a terrible experience as far as the storage and delivery were concerned. All the drivers that we interacted with in Austin and Bloomington were wonderful.
joseph OSouthside Rentals was awesome and took care of me. However, CJ Autos and Rentals who I originally rented from didn't have a clue. Wrong truck was ready. Thankfully Southside was able to help me out in a tough spot.

JAMES GMy review is NO reflection upon Southside rentals- the people who work there are lovely. Uhaul as a company, however, is disorganized and does not care about the customer at all. My containers were delivered 30 hours late with very little communication. I tried and tried to find out why they were not delivered on time, when they might be delivered. Since uhaul is a national company, every time I spoke with a different person which was hard for continuity. DO NOT RECOMMEND UHAUL ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE ON A STRICT TIMELINE.
Louise FUhaul needs an overhaul of its policies and procedures. I booked a 20' truck and the location didnt have that truck when I arrived. I also booked a dolly and blankets and the location didnt have any Dolly's when I arrived. Maybe if Uhaul didnt stack the rentals with no buffer time in between bookings, you wouldn't run into these problems. Trash ass company

LOUIS HI had an after hours drop off. It was not clear where to drop the truck. It was a big one and i initially thought i was to leave it by the office. There happened to be an employee there that told me “the big trucks are usually parked up the hill”. This was much easier. Specific dropoff point would be helpful. It may be that they told me that somewhere and i just missed it.

Aalok AWhile the overall experience was more than acceptable, I would like to point out the truck did not run very well. It seem like it lacked compression, resulting in inconsistent power. With less than 5,000 mi on the truck, I would certainly expect it to run better than it did.
SCOTT Kthis place is way over charging for boxes. On your website I can get the same box or $4.99 they are charging $14.79 for. I called them yesterday to ask why it was so high or was I charged for a bundle of boxes and got a BS response and little to no answers to make me feel better about my experience. Plus, the day of pickup it took 40 minutes because they had a staffing issue. trailer was great though

MARY JThe pickup location was fine but the rental process was not a good experience. We had a reservation already booked well in advance and when we arrive they tell us they see our reservation but we have to call U-Haul because it’s not actually in the reservation scheduler. I don’t have time to be on hold for 30 minutes so I book another reservation and take the 10’ only truck available. I bring the truck back early and try to process the return and it will not work continuously lags out on web or app. I have to do the default drop and put key in box can’t do regular app return. I call for assistance and they tell me they can’t assist with the drop and can only put notes. I go back to the location since I am not satisfied with the default drop and try again. I finally get it to work after 25 minutes but every step lags and takes forever. I know it’s not my phone or connection but the U-Haul site. So since I dropped key earlier I can’t get all the correct photos but was finally able to get processed. I wasted about an hour of my time because the U-Haul booking system didn’t work from the start and the return processed needs revamped. Not a good experience. If they didn’t have the one truck I would have had major moving issues with limited ability to get anything else in the city I was in on a Sunday.

Thomas M26 foot truck was filthy on the inside of the truck trailer and had trash behind the seats. . When I returned the truck, with the appropriate amount of fuel, I explained to the staff what issues I had with the truck. I ordered a dolly and no dolly was provided even though I booked my reservation WEEKS in advance, which made my move even more difficult as a dolly was needed, that's why I reserved it. Truck has a leak in the roof and destroyed some of my items that CANNOT be replaced. I am completely displeased with my experience and will never use U-Haul again let alone recommend U-Haul to anyone after this experience. To sum it all up, after all of this, the U-Haul located tried to charge me $20 more AFTER I left the store from returning the truck. A refund most definitely is in order in my opinion, this is completely unacceptable.

CHERYL HI initially had a reservation scheduled at another facility and my truck was not there to be picked up. I then had to call customer support and have them find a different location, which was farther away from where we needed the truck. Incredibly inconvenient.
JONAH PWhen i got my uhaul it was filthy inside. Had food residue, and what looked like a drink spilt on the passenger side, the dashboard. I did not clean up someone else's mess which i'm sure they got charged a cleaning fee for and then when I returned it, I got charged at cleaning fee as well.
