After reserving a truck at the Braid St., New Westminster location, i received a phone call from someone at U-Haul telling me that no truck would be available at this location and was transferred to a U-Haul site in Langley, BC - which is quite far from home - only to find out that , after speaking to 4 or 5 people on the telephone and waiting in telephone queues for about 20 minutes - that this was no problem after all at the Braid St. location, where I drove away with the truck.Yvon H.

I am very happy with the rental of the 9' van. Things went smoothly, van operated quite well and was well suited for the short move I had to do. The error on the fuel level when I took the van out was corrected when I brought it back in - no questions ask. I will rent again from this location. Many thanks!Paul M.

The office was in a make shift trailer. You couldn't really tell if it was U Haul. The representative was not very welcoming at first. The trailer was not in the best shape, kinda beat up. Inside the black foam guard was peeling off. I was expecting places to tie down up higher as there were some on the floor.lorayne G.

Horrendous experience. The woman working at this location in Duncan was incredibly rude and impolite, had zero common courtesy or customer service skills. She threatened to cancel my reservation several times, anytime I asked a question that was her response. Would NOT recommend this uHaul location to anyone, even my worst enemy.Madisyn D.

We ordered a 15 ft truck and it was cancelled. We had to take a 10 ft or drive to Sooke to get another 15 ft. We were told the 15 ft truck was broken down but really it was double booked as our friend picked it up the next morning in good working condition. The truth would be appreciated. The roof leaked when it rained overnight on the 10 ft and truck was already packed. The dresser sat in the water that accumulated in the corner. Dresser is now damaged. We were told to call it in. Unsure how this will be dealt with.Toren M.

Make sure that the trailers are properly maintained, the one I most recently rented had a hitch that didn't fully engage the ball even though the knob was fully tightened, and while unloading the trailer the hitch disengaged, tipped up, and then came down on the bumper of my vehicle damaging the paint.Alexander L.

My only complaint is that when I returned the vehicle after hours and tried the link to do a remote return, the site asked for me to allow location in my settings, I did as instructed but it would not work. No other option was given so I was charged $20 to have your company do it. Other than that, I had a good experience.Dan G.

My reservation made 60 days in advance was not available at the original location leaving me with no option then to travel 1.5 hours out of my way to get a truck and this was only after begging and pleading with your call center. Your reservation system is a total failure. People depend on these reservations and Uhaul doesn't care. Not this locations fault it is a corporate issueRichard M.
Actually do what your website says you will do. As per your website: "Rental equipment size substituted If your reserved rental equipment is changed, the scheduling team will be able to help accommodate and find an alternative solution based on your reserved moving equipment. Keep in mind, U-Haul has the right to substitute equipment as long as it is of equal or greater size." Instead, we were downsized with no compensation with no time to find alternatives, and as such we were forced to leave over $1,000 worth of our belongings behind. Then we receive a truck that is dirty (food behind seats, covid masks left below seats, clothes in the truck, etc), with a transmission that's on its way out, requiring us to literally go into the 5000+ rpm range just to get over mountains.Kenneth J.

No staff visible and the online checkin dropped off mid trsansaction. Operating out of the back of a truck, hmm. This was very unsatisfying after Uhaul changed the location of the vehicle pickup from Parksville to Duncan. This caused additional expenses and work on my part.randy O.
I filled up the tank. Even had a guy in the truck watching. I filled the truck to where the needle was when I left and the gas station here I. Keremeos put another thirty dollars in ? I'm pretty positive the tank is totally full which it wasn't when I left. So very pissed off and feel ripped off for thirty dollars. So no more insult for me when you guys start doing that which is very sneaky if you ask me. They put more gas in after I left and charged my credit card. So as far as I'm concerned you helped yourself to gas that wasn't yours to have and took it without even talking to me.Teresa K.

Your traffic devision called to change the size of the truck . Very un helpful, didn't care that it would not work for us. Then we get to the site the next morning & the truck we want WAS available. Your computers should show booking to all your locations so it's not hours later that we find out what we booked is not happening. Our location people were more then excellent but we were still very disappointed your traffic people were notDouglas M.

The customer service was excellent, friendly, helpful and very genuine. The low rating is on the location, I drove past 3 times and couldn't see it. Also, the trailer I rented was misleading. It is a 12' x 6' trailer rated at 3300 lbs. . Except the ramp is not 72'' . I could not load my kubota utv onto the trailer . Please provide more i on your website.John C.

All in all great experience, took us a long way without any major issues. Easy to drive and very comfortable. My extra large cat carrier fit between the seats perfectly, too. I do want to mention in case this particular truck is queued to be used for another long distance drive: There is a draft on the driver's side window/door that was extremely loud, blasting my ear the whole 20 hours; especially at speeds higher than 70 km/hr and some spots were 110- we couldn't hear ourselves talk. We did eventually get used to it but it would have been a much more pleasant drive without it. Only other thing was the passenger door needs to be slammed hard to close fully. early morning starts at the end of the month are not a great time to book. Patients was required by customers to successfully service everyone's needs. Rep did a good job of keeping things moving, he could have used some help. Can't wait for their shop to be repaired from fire outside of their control and they can get back to normal.Perry B.

Uhaul failed to communicate necessary information regarding pick up of the vehicle, and only sent the agreement and information after calling twice to customer service and 1h30min after the scheduled pick up time. After all that wasted time, Uhaul provided an unsafe vehicle that did not have a catalytic converter. I would advise people to avoid using the self-serve option from Uhaul because of the poor relaying of information, and to prevent picking up a dangerous vehicle.Kyle K.

To whom it may concern, I have rented several trucks from U-Hall in the past but we have had the worst ever experience renting this truck from U-Hall. We reserved this truck back on Feb 01 for Feb 25 move date Order # 27851447. I received a text message and email Saturday Feb 26 at 7:02am PST and both telling us the 15' truck we had reserved would be ready for our scheduled pick up time of 11am PST at a NEW location on Topaz in Victoria. We left on the 9am PST Ferry from Vancouver. When we arrived at the Topaz location, and after 1 hour wait in line, we were told that time our truck was not available and they had nothing to offer us. We were flabbergasted and confused how this could happen. The U-Hall staff at Topaz started to call other locations to see what they had for trucks with little to no luck and offering us a cargo van which could not possible fit the contents we had ordered the 15' for. The extreme stress and emotional panic to myself, my wife and our son not knowing how we were going to move his belongings out of his suite, which he had given notice for the next day was undescribable. We also had paid for a scheduled 7pm PST ferry for the 15' truck that we now didn't know if we were going to make. After a Â½ hour or more finally they located a 20' truck on Boys Road in Duncan which was approx. 65 -70 km away in the wrong direction which had no option but to accept and left right away to go pick up. U-Hall had added 200KM and a return date of March 01 to our contract 27851447 at no extra charge. We were able to make the 7pm Ferry but the truck size exceeded our reservation and we had to pay an extra $100.00 to get the truck on the Ferry. We unloaded the truck the next morning Sunday Feb 27 and I had my wife contact U-Hall to get the truck dropped of for 2pm that day as the extra 2 days was of no value to us. I am now shocked that I have received another invoice for $67.20 which includes $40.00 extra day?? $20.00 afterhours service plus taxes?? This is completely unjustified and unacceptable. I am expecting a full credit the $67.20 extra charges. And for all the stress and emotional grievance your company has caused my family I am also asking for the full credit amount of $352.73 from the first invoice. These were your mistakes and not anything we did and I expect this to be rectified with out contest. The equipment was clean but the vehicle was running very roughly. It needed a tune up and engine check. I did advise this upon my return. I probably would have had better gas mileage if it had been running smoothly.Catherine O.
