Why did they charge me cleaning fees? The vehicle was same as how I picked it up. Its very disappointing.

PEDRO RWhen I got the truck, inside the truck was in a regular status a bit dusty but otherwise OK. I moved two appliances (A washer and a Dryer), and they had no garbage leaks or any other issues. We left nothing in the truck, and it was returned as received. I'm not sure why there was a $30 cleaning fee charged on my card. If not a scam, what would one call it?! This is unacceptable.

Jolene RI was charged with a late fee when I arrived before the deadline. There was nobody on site to confirm I had returned the keys or to answer any questions. I received a call the next day from U-Haul that the truck was not delivered when that was not true, another reason to have someone on site. Parking was also extremely difficult to navigate with how small the parking lot is, how many cars/trucks were in it, and the size of the building.

MACK SThis location provided a truck with a broken gas fuel gauge. They claimed the truck was full however I drove a total of 12 miles upon returning the truck and put in 11 gallons of gas, meaning the tank was well below full, in reviewing the gauge after filling the tank you can see the gauge is well over the Full line. This is deceptive and lead to a terrible experience, will never recommend U-Haul again after an experience like this and will look for local alternatives. I reported this issue and have not received any kind of customer service.
Quinn LWhen signing up for truck on line 10am was the earliest time available so I signed up for that time and then called location to request earlier pick up of truck which as accommodated. The owner of this store is very flexible and good to work with. I believe this is the 4th time in the past year we have rented trucks from this location and have had positive results every time. The invoice total is always about what we expected.

Jeffrey JI did not select this location for my pickup, u-haul moved my reservation to this location due to equipment issues at the other location (which I had selected specifically to be able to pick it up from a person, not truck share mobile app). I selected to other location because I did not want to have to do the truck share 24/7 as I've never done it before. When I was transferred by u-haul to this location less than 24 hours in advance I had no choice. Of course, the app malfunctioned and did not tell me how to get the key to my truck once I completed the check in steps. I received a rude phone call from someone (who did not identify themselves) when they saw us on their cameras looking for someone to talk to. There was a sign to "call before paying" for items at the farmer's market but no clear sign on who to call for help with u-haul, but they rudely said "did you not see the sign that says to call X for help" to which I replied, it says "call before paying" and got an "oh" then when I told him that the app did not give me access to the truck key he rudely said "so what's your plan?" like as the customer I'm supposed to solve this problem. I said "well I've never done this before so you tell me". At this point he hung up on me and someone from around the building came out and unlocked the key lock box for us and gave us the key. I 100% would NEVER use this location again even if that meant rescheduling me truck to another day and I would never recommend it to anyone who is thinking about renting a u-haul in the area.

Jaime JThe pricing is really weird. I got charged $59 and then a second charge for $39.. the rental said $20 and then the mileage. I traveled 12 miles and had the van for not even an hour. Also got charged $30 for insurance that I said I didn’t want. Probably wouldn’t come here again or recommend. The reviews suck. Should’ve listened.
Joshua CI went online to secure a truck at the Kenmore, WA location which has many many trucks. And is much closer to my home, and the home of my daughter who was moving to another fairly close location. She lives in Bothell and moving to Mountlake Terrace, both in Washington. When the system finished it then showed me the only time to check the truck out was the evening of the day I needed it. Sunday the 15th. I tried to go back and enter a new date to check out for the day before Saturday 14th but it wouldn’t allow me. So I called your number for help and I was told no trucks were available for a 20 footer on that Sat or Sun. So your call center sent me to this Lynwood location for pick up at 3:00pm. Sat 14th. When I arrived at 3:15 pm Sat there were no 20 foot trucks waiting. The owner of this location was the nicest man I’ve met in a long time. He offered a 15 foot truck and threw in the gas. I said ok and we made the move the next day. The 15 footer did cause us to take two trips of which the 20 footer would have been perfect, but no sour apples here. My daughter thanked me for picking up the truck and getting her brothers and friends to complete the move within 4 hours. My daughter thinks I walk on water now so I thank you whole heartedly. Don HHello. While the rental process went smoothly all in all and the people at the location were friendly, there are areas that could've been much better. After getting the keys and being told I was set to leave with the truck, I attempted to do the online equipment verification. The license number and truck mileage listed in the app did not match the truck I was renting. When I attempted to locate the business representatives, I could not find them (the location is an outdoor fruit and vegetable market). I attempted to upload, as prompted by the app, pictures of all sides of the truck and to update the mileage, but the app wouldn't let me. I tried again to locate the business representatives with no luck. So I finally left with the truck. The truck, while not excessively dirty, was also not clean. When I was finished with my business and before returning it, I swept and hosed out the bed of the truck, leaving it cleaner than when I got it. The drop off went fine. When I received the final statement, I was surprised and not happy to see that I was charged an extra $25 cleaning fee. I was never informed of this fee and believe it was unwarranted. I want this refunded. Thank you.
Paul SThe truck was in good condition. The agent was friendly. Unfortunately, the vendor appears to have intentionally overcharged by adding unwanted insurance and after-hour return fee when the truck was returned to a person during regular business hours as shown on the UHaul website. After reaching out to the vendor twice, there was no reply and I had to dispute directly with the credit card company.

Molly DTruck was not the one i reserved, i reserved a 20 ft truck and all they had was a 15ft, as they rented the 20ft truck out earlier that day even though a reservation was made to have said truck held for me. The truck had its check engine light come on during my return trip to drop it off, they offered a 50 dollar credit but it was never replied. They then are trying to charge me a cleaning fee for a truck that wasnt clean when i took it. Was in a hurry and didnt check until i was already gone. Overall i would not recommend any location that wasnt a stand alone uhaul store, when they offered a 20ft truck that they found it was more than 30 miles away and i didnt not want to be charged the extra mileage due to there mistake of not holding the truck I reserved. There was also nobody there when i dropped the truck off but the bussiness was open. Overall it was a horrible experience getting the truck from their location. I also had my reservation changed from the first location i reserved to this one and i am not sure why, it seems like reservation are meaningless as they dont hold the vehicle stated in the reservation.

Even though I have not signed up for any safe coverage, they have charged me that without my consent at the location when I went to pick up the truck which is very sneaky behavior. Next, they charged 75$ for cleaning even though we have mopped it

Not the end of the world, but I do feel scammed a bit at nearly double the price because of disorganization.

After I was told, not only would I not be charged a cleaning fee, but I would also get a discount on my rental. Lies. The online photos to confirm or dispute the condition of the van were of a different newer van. Total scam.

Lacie BBUCKLE UP, THIS IS A LONG ONE, BUT YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY READ IT BEFORE USING THIS LOCATION. We were told by the owner (Alex, or so he said, his name was) of this location that if we took this particular "dirty truck," he would give us a $10.00 discount, off of the $19.95 rental fee. He asked us how long we would have the truck, we said close to, but not quite 24 hours. He asked what we were moving, we told him just a used, but clean, home freezer. He said, he is the owner, and we can go ahead and just drop it off at ANY time the next day, as he would not be there, but he has cameras. Well, we returned the truck ON TIME, with the right amount of gas, and dropped off the keys in the drop box. No issues, or so, we thought. Then, we got our bill, today, (today being the original day, I wrote this review) and we were NOT only NOT given the promised $10 discount. We were also charged a $20.00 'after hours return, service fee' when it WAS returned by 4pm, if not before 4, and I can prove it, as I messaged Alex, AFTER we had already returned home from dropping off the truck, just to thank him, and to ask about his honey. No response. We returned it by 4pm, if not before, and most definitely within the 24 hour timeframe. I CAN PROVE *ALL* OF THIS, TOO. We drove the 15 miles it said, and was charged $14.85 (at .99 cents per mile) which was the ONLY THING correct on our bill. We were ALSO charged $15.00 for a "safe move fee" without our knowledge or consent. We were also charged an "After hours return fee" of $20.00, as well as not getting the $10.00 off for having to use a dirty truck which was his idea, as well as an "Environmental fee" of $2.00, ALL without our knowledge, as well as taxed on ALL of those EXTRA charges, which was $5.65, and of course, we expected to pay tax, but on the RIGHT amount, we also expected to pay for the gas we put back into the truck, AND for the 15 miles we drove, and the reduced $10.95 rental fee. BUT NO, we ended up paying a wopping total of $77.45, when in reality we SHOULD have been only charged for a total of $31.45, or even $33.45 IF the 'environmental tax' is even required, or a thing, and that's even adding in the tax amount HE charged us, with ALL those bogus charges included, too! Again, we did NOT return AFTER hours, so that $20.00 fee is WRONG. We did not get our $10.00 off for using the ALREADY DIRTY TRUCK, which he told us "NOT to clean and he would take $10.00 off of the $19.95 'rental fee'", so that IS WRONG! NOR did we elect for any 'Safe Move' insurance fee of $15.00, NOR WERE WE even ASKED if we wanted any insurance - we didn't, so THAT IS WRONG! So, we should not have been charged for $20.00, $10.00, $15.00, and I do not know if the 'Environmental fee' of $2.00 is required, or not. THAT'S $45.00 DOLLARS OF BOGUS CHARGES, RIGHT THERE! We TRUSTED this man. This was our FIRST TIME using HIS business, and we truly had PLANNED ON using him in the future, and we WERE actually happy to have found him because he WAS so close, BUT as soon as I received my OUTRAGEOUS, and more than doubled bill, and I tried to call him, suddenly ALL of my calls to HIS LISTED BUSINESS LINE, for this location, which worked just fine to book the truck, suddenly all of MY calls 'CANNOT BE be COMPLETED AS DIALED.' So, right after I posted THIS review, he SUDDENLY calls me from some weird number that is under a totally different name than his, which he SAID is Alex, and he SAID he WOULD FIX the charges. What he DID do was reverse the $77.45 charge, and then, charge us two smaller fees that STILL ADDED UP TO $77.45, I am assuming, in an attempt to TRY to make it LOOK LIKE he returned some of our money when he absolutely DID NOT. Obviously, he is NOT NEW to this. AND YET, I STILL, STUPIDLY, gave him ANOTHER CHANCE to fix this. I did NOT even keep this review posted that original day that I wrote it, I removed it immediately FOR HIM, and temporarily, TO GIVE HIM TIME, like a few days because I wanted to give him a chance (I actually gave him FAR MORE TIME than that) to see if he would give us our promised refund, before leaving this VERY TRUE and HONEST, review. He did NOT refund ANY of our money, and so, HE SCAMMED US, by LYING to us, OVER AND OVER, and CHARGED MORE THAN DOUBLE, with bogus charges, so I am FINALLY hitting the POST BUTTON on this review, AFTER giving him 3 different CHANCES TO DO THE RIGHT THING. Sadly, this man IS a liar and a rip off/scam artist. Do not believe ANYTHING HE SAYS, UNLESS you get it IN WRITING, and keep lots of proofs, like taking pictures and screenshots, etc... like I actually did. I COULD easily take him to small claims and win, but for $45.00 - I won't bother with the hassle. Instead, I am going to warn any and all, of his possible future customers, who are smart enough to read reviews, unlike I did, for this location, DO NOT USE THIS U-HAUL LOCATION, EVER, NOT IF YOU ARE SMART! I will post the message he sent me, and my responses in pictures. I took my review down IMMEDIATELY, after his message, and GAVE HIM SEVERAL chances, if not weeks, to fix the issue, and NOTHING! Not even after messaging him AGAIN, as a friendly (still) reminder, which I, as a customer, should NOT have to do. I gave this man every chance and every benefit of doubt, over and over again, AND THEN SOME. And not only that, he suddenly sent me a different reciept, saying instead of the 15 miles we drove, originally, we now suddenly traveled 20 miles! I happen to know EXACTLY HOW MANY MILES I TRAVELED, AS I USED GOOGLE MAPS thee entire time. I HATE leaving bad reviews and even SAYING what I had to say, but it is the truth, even though my personality is to always believe the best about people, and to give them the benefit of doubt, until proven otherwise, BUT YOU, SIR, ARE A THIEF & LIAR! CARA NNo person to person contact. Done via phone call at location. No one there just a sign to say call . Truck interior dirty and full of pine needles on floor board and had to sweep out back when I got home. No one there to verify that the gas was below what was actually in U-Haul. Took pictures and uploaded as noted in app.

Scott LSuper nice guy. I had my reservation set for 2:00 2:00 for a van. When I got there he said it was reserved under my name for 3:15. He said not to worry, he could give me a truck for the same price, and he did. Then I stopped in and asked if I could have it until 7:00 instead of 6:00. He said no problem! I dropped off the truck after hours and left the key. The bill was completely accurate. All around a great experience. I will rent from him again next weekend and any other time I may need a truck!

Aaron HNo one was there when we arrived. We had to wait. No one was there to drop off and I didn’t received the contract until AFTER I picked up the truck! Then I was charged a $35 cleaning fee for 2 clean small folded up boxes left in the truck! Had I known there would be a fee for that I would have remembered to take the small cardboard boxes out. I’m pretty upset about it.

George MThoroughly frustrating experience. I needed the truck longer so I called well ahead of the drop off time and was told by 11am the next day was ok, but if I needed it longer to call at 10 to see if it's still available. Totally fine, I completely understood that. Then I get a call at 8 saying the truck was late, clarified that I was the one who called yesterday so that was ok and he said he'd call back at 10 and let me know. At 10:06 I called and he said he'd check the lot and call me back. At 10:30 I made arrangements for a pick up and just returned the truck . Then I got hit with a $50 cleaning fee 10 minutes later....I had just moved boxes a bed and a couch, that's it. So I went back and he tried convincing me there was paint on it. There were some dusty footprints. I had a cheap stupid broom left after packing so I asked to borrow their push broom and took care of it in less than 2 minutes. I understand mix ups, I understand being busy, but all of these things together left a severely bad taste. I am still furious and will loudly tell everyone I know to not go to that location in the future.
