ASHVIN WWhen I returned the Van, Colin had a bit of an attidde that they were short staffed and it seemed a bother that I indicated I was waiiting for someone to accept my return . As a customer thats not my problem, thats UHAuls problem. none the less I wont be dealing with him again as he felt he did nothing wrong . Educate your employess how valuable a customer is, if it not for us he wouldbt be employed.... Regars Tony

Deepika RLiterally everything went wrong MULTIPLE TIIMES during my move. First, Uhaul Batorn just couldn't find my ubox, which apparently is a known issue with many of the uboxes there. After talking with multiple people at uhaul over the phone and getting promised call backs that never came I had to go there in person to get them to seriously try to find my box. When they finally found it, I needed that and another ubox to arrive to a location and get loaded up. They booked this first part of my move incorrectly THREE separate times and I had to spend hours on the phone with uhaul getting it all sorted out. When that finally was scheduled correctly, I then had to move my uboxes across the border. It took many additional phone calls to have that booked, and when it was, my movers called me and said uhaul had indicated that the pick up location for them was in the wrong country. More phone calls to sort that out. Then I had to fill out customs forms because my boxes are crossing the border. I go to fill out the forms and can't access the forms due to an issue with "single sign on" on the uhaul page. I call and talk to multiple uhaul people who don't know how to fix it. I get promised call backs that never come. Then finally the issue resolves on it's own (thankfully) and I am able to fill out the form. My "guaranteed delivery date" arrives and no uboxes. I'm certainly not surprised at this point, but I call and am told that they are trying to find a carrier and I get bounced around to different uhaul departments again. Eventually I file a customer action file (CAF) and they book a carrier to get the uboxes across the border. Honestly a wild and awful experience from start to finish. I never thought that a company specializing in moving and storage would be so terrible at... moving and storage. I really don't think anyone who works here knows what's going on as there were many times I was bounced around from one department to the next, then back to the first, each one thinking the other one would know how to deal with an issue. I've literally had to call uhaul around 30 times over the past month to get my things moved. There is seriously something wrong with how uhaul is operating at a systemic level, that no one knows what is/is not their domain, and everyone just hopes someone else will figure out an issue. To me that indicates a serious issue with management and structure in the company. The staff are friendly, but they don't know what they are doing, and I think are probably miserable to be working in such a broken system. I have had positive experiences with uhaul in the past, so this was honestly shocking to me. If I can avoid it, I will never book another move with them.
Sarah MAgain, I had the most stellar experience with this weekend again at Barton & Nash UHaul. I had the pleasure of Janel C. handling both the check in and check out of my truck and storage unit. Despite how busy it was being a last weekend of the month along with a long weekend, she did her best to not let it affect her interaction with me. Nash & Barton has been the only location I have used since 2010 and will continue to be my UHaul of choice.
JAMES WColin and his staff went above and beyond to ensure everything went smoothly, it was a very busy weekend but we were able to get in and out easily by following their recommendations!
Lisa SI have to say it was easy access to get to the storage unit even though you had to walk to it from the car unloading area but thankful for the loading carts. It took a long time for the sales rep to work on the computer to finalize the rental because of the program not allowing her to put in some info or she was new. Had to tell her to not add the information on the existing account except update the address. The program online wouldn't take additional info or it was because she was new. Not happy the insurance wasn't added on when I asked at least 3 times if it was added and told it was. Today took some steps to find out I had to set up an account and get insurance that way which took sometime when I found out a step was missing in which I didn't know about. When a customer is at the store they should be able to have the insurance put on their storage room rental right away and not have to do it themselves and if the store doesn't do it the customer should be told they have to do it on the u-haul site. My husband wants me to right that there should be a light outside the garage doors to get into the loading bay telling if it's full or not.

WILLIAM WWhen I went to check in and pick up my truck, that's when they let me know that they don't have the 2 moving dollys we had asked for. When I asked for alternates or other help, because we were starting the move in a couple of hours, they seemed unbothered and asked me to check a different location or 'just manage'. Luckily there was a Home Depot nearby and the employees there at the rental section went above and beyond to help us. I might not be going ahea with a UHaul again, just based on the poor customer service and communication.

DANIEL SI was told at the pick up that I might get charged 1.30 per litre. When I dropped the truck, the guy at the drop off charged 2.10 per litre. Total of approx 60 was charged extra even though I did not use half of the tank. He claimed I did so. I am not happy about the service and I told him we will complain. I hope we will get compensated for that

PETER KMy storage experience at the Barton Uhaul was very good. The only negative thing was the price. I believe that the monthly rate for long-term rentals is a bit higher than other storage facilities in town. I would recommend Uhaul for short-term but not long-term storage rentals.

MICHAEL GAfter this rental experience I will go elsewhere for truck/van rentals. I was extremely disappointed by the recent changes made by corporate barring full 24 hour rentals as explained by the associate at the location, also forcing a download and basically having me, the customer, do a job that falls under the description of an employee, do the tasks required to return the product after the location was closed, alternative to that was an incurred fee to have a representative assist in closing the return out, not impressed, and again will look elsewhere for future rentals as U Haul seems to be focusing on money grabs at every opportunity, regards, Malcolm Forbes

Shonesee D | Overall ExperienceOur belongings were covered in mouse droppings and urine which was incredibly disappointing. There were no food items or anything known to be attractive to rodents. Thank goodness most things were wrapped or boxed and could be the packaging could be discarded but there were things that were loose that also had to be discarded. We had to repack much of what was stored. For the price paid for approx 16 months of storage we expected better protection of our belongings. When I reported the condition of the unit to the person at the desk, the response was simply that no one has ever reported that before. He didn’t even offer to take a look. I wish I had thought to take pictures but it didn’t even cross my mind at the time. Unfortunately I would not recommend this particular facility to anyone.

It got a text with an access code to enter the facilities but when I got there I was able to walk right in, thinking that was normal since I had a key for the actual locker. A little tricky to find my unit since there is no rhyme or reason to the numbering of the lockers. I came and went a few times before I noticed someone else swiping a card. I didn’t have a card?! So I asked them and they said when you come you have to swipe or use access code every time coming and going so as to not set off the alarm. Well I locked myself out twice because I didn’t know this. If they had told me from the beginning maybe that wouldn’t have happened. The first time I wasn’t sure why becusee I had swooped in, copying what I saw someone else do. I called the office and they provided me an access code to use. Didn’t use that to exit either and locked myself out! Then had to wait until opening hours to fix it.

Tracy NNot the first time I’ve used U-Haul, but definitely the worst experience. I originally booked a truck from the Ancaster location, but the day before pickup, I was informed that I would need to collect the vehicle from a different branch at 2275 Barton St E, Hamilton, ON. When I arrived, I was told I had to purchase insurance — even though nothing during the online booking process indicated it was mandatory. After bringing the truck home, I discovered the back door was jammed and unusable. A mechanic was eventually sent out, but not until 1 a.m., waking up half the neighborhood with the repair noise. While I appreciate that someone came to fix it, the poor timing and complete lack of accountability were unacceptable. I submitted a complaint afterward but never received a follow-up. When I called again today, I was told that Mr. Weese, the manager, had emailed me — which I never received or saw any trace of. I strongly do not recommend this location. Save yourself the hassle and book with a more reliable U-Haul branch.
ANURADHA RI had reserved two furniture dollies, but only one was available, so I ended up using just one. The discrepancy between the reservation and the actual availability of equipment caused some inconvenience. However, all of the staff were very friendly and provided excellent customer service.
KEUNSANG YThe 6 x 12 utility trailer with ramp that we used was not swept out and had loose bolts, nuts, washers, screws all over the floor of the trailer. It’s a good thing that we checked it out just down the street from where we picked it up as there would have been all that stuff falling out and it would have messed up how many people’s tires causing them expensive damage and repairs. My wife and I swept it all out and then everything went great. The trailer was well maintained other than some one not doing there job checking the equipment. When we returned it the next day the person who was checking the trailer in didn’t know his job as we were told to put it here no no wait put it over there. No no wait we need it put over here. Sure would be nice if the service people would make up their mind and properly check and clean the trailers before they let there equipment leave the lot. Always very happy with U-Haul and there equipment just very disappointed and frustrating that we had to do there job this time. We rent from them at least once a year and have always had good service and equipment. Except for the loose metal sharp stuff this time. My own fault for not checking the inside of the trailer at the lot. I always check everything else. Now I’m going to be checking the inside as well at the start. Overall happy.

I did I did four clicks over my limit and had to pay an extra fee, that's ridiculous especially when the lady was the one who picked the kilometers and I agreed because I figured it wouldn't be such a big deal, if I went over by a little. I would had been better off renting a truck for the day and pay the same amount and not have to worry about the mileages.

TREVOR WWell, first of all when taking a reservation make sure you read back the cell phone number to get it correct. My husband arrived there and they could not find the reservation because the girl had entered it incorrectly. You had issues with your computer when we were trying to make a payment. It was very frustrating. On a positive note, the young woman that we dealt with was very professional, sweet and helpful. She is a great asset to your business.

GREGORY MWe booked a truck for our recent move. The process was easy and quick using their website, we were also able to book movers to load and unload the truck which was a blessing. The truck was clean, well maintained, and ready for us at the time we had requested. The office staff were quick and efficient with the payment process and getting the keys to us. This is the second time we’ve used U-Haul in the last year and I would recommend them to anyone wanting to do it themselves. We also purchased boxes and mattress covers, as well as bubble wrap and tape, and their prices couldn’t be beaten by any of the other companies. We give you all an A+.
DONNA STire on trailer was in very bad shape, bad scalping and on the verge of failure. Wasn't happy to find this out mid trip with the bike in the back.
RYAN RVery polite and professional. Helped me with what Towstart to buy. The piece that goes into the hitch and hold the 2" Ball for my trailer. they come in different drop lengths. In and out in less than a two hours. I 've always trusted my Trailer hitch and installs with UHAUL ,this is my fourth vehicle now, over the years.

That’s the first real crappy thing about it, at uhaul In the past, I’ve had great experiences but this time they changed my door and I thought someone broke in my unit when I contacted them. They told me no they changed the door and that they were emailing and calling me and I have all their emails etc. and none were there informing me they were entering my unit for the door. I had my son go there to enter my unit and they had changed the lock. I could not get into my unit. I had to go into the office and get a key from them. That’s pretty brutal . I asked them to prove it to me that they were sending me emails or letters on their computer and they could not because it did not happen. And then I moved out a week before the end of my months contract and went into a long lineup waited to get to the desk and the guy told me I had to go take a picture and show them that the unit is cleaned out I said so I gotta do your job? My sister just passed and I need to pick up my kids in a half an hour. I went out and took the picture. I then had to stay in line for over a half an hour So I ended up walking out. I phoned them and asked them if I could email the picture. The guy said no I’m gonna go and look and take a picture right now. I will call you back. In fact, he did not call me back When I was on the phone with him, I said don’t forget and make sure I don’t get charged for a month Again he forgot and the payment came out. Following the payment coming out, I called ask why and they said because I haven’t left the unit yet wow So I said they need to look at their time schedule and see who did not do their job again this round because I am extremely extremely angry. I just had a death in the family and did not want to deal with this extra amount of baloney. And or argue to receive my months payment back if that was the case, take it from the Employee and send it to me cause this is kind of stuff happens all too often. I have relied on you on many many times, but like I said when they make employee error, they never account for it. They always blame the customer and the customer always ends up paying extra money in some way shape or form. So it’s really unfortunate because I’ve been dealing with UHAUL for many many many years for many rentals for many UHAUL storage rentals. And vehicle rentals It’s unfortunate that they’re so busy. They cannot complete the transactions with certain customers at times and some customers it’s more than once.

The garage doors open automatically and the doors to enter the facility open without a security code. This makes me feel very unsafe. I have had storage units at other facilities that a code was mandatory at any time of day to enter.

I went back to the store and he kindly took a break from the people he was handling to answer my questions. It took 2 minutes to answer my questions and he didn't make me wait. Excellent customer service! A fellow customer in her car told me how to disarm my unit when she saw that I couldn't enter the building. Once in the storage building, I ran into Mary Anne (I think is her name..the older lady) who filled me in on the info the man in the store forgot to give me. I was so thankful she was there!! She was diplomatic. She didn't criticize store staff for their failure which is commendable. When I saw the unit, it looked like it was used to keep tools or motor products. I didn't want to put my household items there, so I asked to change units. She didn't try to get me to change my mind, which was nice.

Sarah W | Online Move InWe had a regrettable experience dealing with a storage facility at 2275 Barton St E in Hamilton, Ontario. It started from us renting a 10’x15’ storage unit on August 20, 2023. No one informed us that this would be a “split” unit containing of two smaller units until we filled one of the units (10’x10’) and realized we don’t have enough space. We were informed that there is a second smaller unit (5’x10’) is part of this rental agreement. While that was an inconvenience, we were prepared to live with it. However, when we opened that unit to put our items, we noticed a pervasive and foul odor in the unit. We reached out to the staff at the counter and was informed that we need to contact the facility manager. We called and left a voice mail to Colin Weese, and after not receiving response, we emailed him on Wednesday September 6, 2023. The lack of response was deeply disappointing, especially given our efforts to engage with the company in a constructive manner. After waiting for a few days and not getting a response, we approached a front counter again on September 10th, 2023. We only asked to exchange a location of the small units as our larger units was already full and we would not be able to move our stuff ourselves and could not afford to pay movers. Front counter staff informed us that the only options available to us: move our stuff from both units to a different location; stay in the existing units, or move out of units. We explained that due to the health issues we are not able to move stuff ourselves, and cannot afford paying movers, and both alternative options would require us to go to external movers to complete this task. However, front counter staff refused to work out a solution for us constantly making reference to the ”system that would not allow us to switch only one unit”. We insisted to discussing this matter with the manager, who only confirmed that these are the only two options available to us as an alternative to stay in the existing units. We explained that due to our health issues we are not able to make this move ourselves; our plea to the manager to be compassionate and find a resolution left unanswered. Our encounter with front counter staff on that day only exacerbated our frustration. The employee we interacted with was not only unprofessional but also displayed a complete lack of courtesy. They used phrases like "let me finish," "you don't understand," and "I know what I'm talking about," and raised her voice during our conversation. We’ve been a loyal customer of Uhaul for many years, and have never been treated this way before. We regret choosing this location for our storage needs.

A sign reading LOGIN AND OUT HERE on the wall above the keypad may eliminate a lot of confusion for new customers, and not take the employees away from their other duties to assist us. I threw everything out as a result. I complained twice to management about it and was told someone would contact me but I didnt hear anything from them. When I asked if they had a problem with mice, they said that they had only had one other incident that month despite there being mouse traps in the corridors. I think that this was an absolute waste of money, a disgusting storage unit and poor customer service.

Paid for it and 3 days later got a letter stating I was late on payment and would have to pay a late fee! Went in and was told not to pay as I already had and that the company does this all the time! Received another notice maybe a week later stating the same! Was told by counter person (who was friendly) that it was NOT the correct price and to not pay. At the start of next month I received another letter stating same price, so I went in and was told by the same person he would talk to manager and see about getting the price I was quoted on the internet. I was told by him that if the manager would not agree (which I was told NEVER HAPPENS) that I could move out and not be charged. A week later when I did not get a answer, and looked at my credit card statement I had already been charged! When I went to see what's up, I had the unpleasant experience of meeting the manager one (Colin Reese) who was nothing like any of the other people who worked there. He was rude, ignorant and unwilling to listen. His only and final answer was that (I was wrong, and that's that!) I told him I was not happy and would leave a review. His words were I DON'T CARE! DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO! For sure do not go to this place, but if you must definitely don't deal with the manager as you will get nowhere!

I was told they were transferring me in a U-box and would get one delivered to my storage unit. After about 30 minutes the guy drove up saying they were just figuring out what they are doing and would just be a little while longer. After 2 hours of waiting I went back into the office to find out what was going on. The guy called his boss and was told they are moving me to another unit not a U-box. I was told the first month was free but I needed to pay the 18.00 insurance fee. I had forgot my wallet but need to come in to pay my other unit in a couple of days. I had to then go back unpack my truck of the things I was bring home and repack with the boxes to move into the new unit. I received an email a couple of days ago saying that there was a 15.00 late fee on thec18.00. After being left sitting for over 2 hours you people are trying to charge me a late fee on 18.00 this is ridiculous.

The storage was book and was told given the pass code to enter after hours but the MOST important part they left out was that the access code wouldn't work until after 24hrs, hence why we were locked out. We returned May 21 to store our stuff and was told that, no elevator, so we we forced to cancel the storage and had no were to store our furnitures. Just horrible and very incompetent service.

LISETTE F | Overall ExperienceThe person that was working should not have been working they didn't seem like they wanted to be at work I asked for a lower unit I have a lot of items to put in the storage I waited 40 minutes to get served once I obtained my key I went around the facility to enter my unit and realized it was on the top level I went back to say that the unit is not on the lower level and I was told that you couldn't do anything about it that I would have to go around the building and wait in line again after lugging in all my valuables onto a dolly from my vehicle into the facility and it was very frustrating therefore due to the attitude of the employee I decided to cancel and I did not go ahead with renting a storage unit from U-Haul however I did use the truck for that day to bring my valuables and stored items to another facility however the vehicle rental division as always was excellent but your staff on Barton Street is very young and they don't want to be there when you work somewhere you have to take pride in your job and make the people feel welcome and listen to the people when they are making requests because we the customers are the ones who grow your business to a large successful business that you are today
