Tami K. | Overall ExperienceThe technicians need to be trained thoroughly when hooking up trailers. My tech was very polite but lacked safety knowledge. When he hooked the electrical, it would have been dragging the roads...burned the wrapping and wires would have been exposed. He fixed it when I suggested the danger. (however, I should not have had to) Secondly, the chains were dragging. I also suggested that they were to low and dragging but he stated they would be fine. THEY WERE NOT. The safety chain broke approximately 200 miles into my travels. COMPLETELY STRESSFUL! It completely delayed my travels. I had to find another uhaul along the travel in which he replaced the chain and twisted them to keep them from dragging. He also explained that they should not drag because of danger and sparks and in turn breaking. This is to serious for your techs to be passive. It was clear that your postings hold the driver responsible for accidents once they leave. That is completely irresponsible of UHaul not to train and or hold their employees more responsible.

My current need was not able to be met due to the size units available in their heat only building (not even fully climate controlled).

brooke w. | First ImpressionsI see on the U-Haul app, and the customer service representative also confirmed to me, that the storage unit is accessible until 10pm everyday. I also see on the app and directly on the gates at the facility that extended 24hr access may be granted upon request. These are the sole reasons I rented the unit here, because I was in need of later access hours as I am in a rush to move in addition to working all day. When we arrived around 8pm with 3 truckloads of our furniture, clothes, home decor, etc., we were told they close at 8pm. After arguing for a few minutes, they at least agreed to allow 1 truckload to be unloaded. The rest had to stay in truck beds and on trailers all night and fully exposed to the weather elements. Our furniture, mattresses and other belongings were rained, well poured, on. I am very, very upset and feel completely deceived by the confusion of the hours we can access our unit. I don’t feel like I should be charged for this first month as compensation for my severely damaged items after it was confirmed to me I had until 10 pm when I booked. I was also denied the extended 24hr access when I requested it because they claim too many people were staying in the units. That’s not my problem and it is clearly advertised although it is not actually an option at all. I would have never rented this unit had I known, and I was lied to and my items were ruined as a direct result of your false advertising and incorrect information provided by customer service. I deserve this month for free and a refund should be happily paid to me for my inconveniences.

I don't think the business should be the only one with access to MY UNIT it should be a 2 person to open it. I have one set of keys and the business has the other. I'm just not comfortable giving you 100% trust at this point in game. I felt like I needed to take pictures of my unit just in case someone got in there without my consent. That is the biggest reason I left.

I do take issue with the fact that twice payment was "returned to bank" from corporate. However, I received no notice and neither did the bank. Being as I am military and a lot of your customers are military I find it appalling that is how we are treated. i do not believe UHAUL that the money was returned to the bank since I was not notified, nor was there a returned fee/notice/transaction with the bank. The bank representatives, USAA, said this is common practice for UHAUL. UHAUL stole $189.90 after I was erroneously enrolled in automatic payments instead of a one-type debit payment, which resulted in "returned payments". I made a payment EVERY month on time in addition to the two charges which were supposedly returned to the bank.

Sometimes they’d be arguing and yelling vulgar things at each other and were clearly high. Every time we were at our unit there were homeless people there. At one point, a man was laying in the ground and didn’t respond when we asked if he was ok. We informed the employee that they should call for medical assistance and I believe they did. Another time, there was an elderly lady, by herself, at her unit and she was being asked for money. We waited until she left because we didn’t feel it was safe to leave her there alone. This isn’t even addressing the fact that they didn’t have our original unit and still charged us a lot more per month for the one we had to use instead. Super expensive and extremely unsafe! Oh, they also reported having 12 units broken into one weekend. We emptied our unit out yesterday.

I completely understood because I had a 20’ truck and it was full. He was kind and patient with me. I had had an extremely rough trip. He directed me to the 24 Hwy store. I meet Sam there. He was also very kind and patient. He got me into a storage unit and apologized for not being able to receive the truck and transport. He was full and did not have help. He said I would have to return it to Noland Rd. No problem. I was thankful that he had space for me. My help had arrived to unload. The tire strap on the front drivers side had come off in my travels and had wrapped itself around the axle and tie rod. My brother was concerned about the damage it might cause to try to pull on it. I asked Sam for help and he was more than happy to oblige. For a Woman Vet traveling with her Service Dog alone, RJ and Sam were My Sunshine at the end of a very long, wet and dark journey home. Thank You for taking such good care of me.

Ava J. | Overall ExperienceI made a reservation online. However when I came to your location. I was advised that a bigger unit may be needed. I had 450 square feet of belongings. I was then put in to a larger unit for double the price of my quote online. I was not shown the unit before signing the contract. Turns out when my belongings were put in the storage unit it was double the size I needed. Per the sizes on Uhaul website the 10' x 10' would have been fine. When placing my reservation online the woman also say the 10' x 10' would be fine based on my cubic feet of my belongings. I would like to know why I was not given or at least shown the unit that was reserved for me. I am writing this review to you first. Before I contact corp. I hope I will get the answer I need and some resolution to the issue by contacting you. I have used Uhaul Storage for many years with no problem.

I have lost four generations of furniture and family history, all my pictures, all my daughters AirForce things, all my grandsons pictures...so many things that I'm sure ended up in a dumpster somewhere. After the second time, management didn't even notify me. We discovered the break in by accident because we checked on the unit. The office filed a police report a month ago and didn't even notify me. Why! I didn't have a chance to look for my stolen goods until they were long gone. If I'd known, I would have moved my things and not paid another months rent. I guess they got me three times in total.
