STEVEN RWe showed up ready to unload our U-Haul truck into our storage unit. When we walked up to our unit, there was a lock on it. I informed the guy helping us and he got us a new unit. There was a lock on that one as well. At this point we are 15 minutes+ in and nothing unloaded - needless to say I was getting frustrated. Finally they found us a unit and we were able to get moved in. With modern IT systems it is not clear to me how something like this can happen - tighten up your game U-Haul! Having said this, the guy that helped us out was super nice and very apologetic.

JEAN MI was driving to drop the brushes to city of Austin large brush drop off location just about few miles away and the rented trailer tire shredded when I was driving on the highway, so I have to stop and contact roadside assistance. After the roadside assistance fixed the tire, it was well pass the time that the drop off location is closed. The drop off center closed at 3:00 pm and the tire failed around 2:30 pm, and my trailer return time was 3:30pm. The road side assistance completed their work to fixe the tire around 4:20. that was Sat, May 10th, and the drop off center closed on Sun. So I have to drove back, unloaded the brush, drive to Uhaul and try to return the trailer, since I could not finished, I asked if I can use the trailer again next week to complete the work for free, the worker at duty said: Yes, I can extend it for free to next Tue without close the contract, other wise, you have to pay for the new reservation. All is great and I did not ask anything in writing as approof, big mistake. I complete what I need to do on Monday and return the trailer Monday, a day earlier. To my surprise, I was charged $141 instead of $47 in the original contract. After I checked with the worker and he talked to the manager, the manager agreed to refund me $87. I ask why not refund me a full extra charge of $95 (just $7 diff), I was told the following: The worker on duty who told you to extend the contract for free until Tue due to the rented trailer tire failure should not have said so, he dont have the right to decide and he should call the manager, next time, you need to confirm with the manager, then he said just $7, you have the most extra charges refunded to you. My issue is not the $7 extra charge that is not refunded. My issue is because of the rented equipment failure, I have to load and unload the brush twice and take extra time off to complete the job next day which should be done in one day if the trailer tire did not fails. What about my time?? worth nothing? Also, you did not train your employee properly and put him/her on duty alone, anything he said regarding the uhaul contract, as a customer, he represent Uhaul, when you comes back said he said does not count, so I as a customer has to pay extra because your lack trained employee's wrong promise, that is wrong. I am plan to publish my experience to warn people that they need to get everything in writing, even with big companies,

ALBA LMy trailer did not show as available when I arrived. This was frustrating because I had a hired helper meeting me at my loading location 30 minutes later. The rep at the desk, Nelly was EXCEPTIONAL. She handled my issue with ease and calm and got me all fixed up with minimal delay. I noticed how she handled multiple things thrown at her at the same time, and she stood out as an OUTSTANDING employee.
Amber LMy son and I came into this location March 3rd. Although I had called your location to make the reservation, somehow the pick up site ended up at another location. Nelly, if I remember her name correctly, very quickly corrected the mistake. We orginally oredered a 10 foot truck, but looking at it and his stuff, we decided we would need a 15 foot, just to be safe. Nelly quickly made that change. I mentioned we had tried to order help for the unloading, but had been unable to make contact. She got right on it and within a short while had the necessary help at our unloading two days later. I had used U-Haul many times and always have had acceptable help from the representatives. But, Nelly stands out from all of them. She was extremely helpful, friendly, never acted impatient, was also handling 2 or 3 other situations while waiting on us. I thought she must have been doing this for many years, but I was told she was fairly new. The only problem we had was in Tyler, Texas at the motel we stayed overnight, and we are certain someone in the night undid the tire straps. It was no accident that both of them were laying aroung the tires. Again, we called U-Haul and within 1 12 hrs, someone was sent to attach them again.

ERNESTO RRated as average. The site was extremely busy and perhaps understaffed(?). Speaking with the rep as he hooked up my trailer, he mentioned that drop off of the equipment could be done as close to the area where the trailers were to save them from having to move it so far. No problem. I returned a few hours later to drop off and there was nobody at the equipment return area so I moved over to as close as I could to the trailer area and unhooked. Made sure it was out of the way. The floor manager (not sure of her name) told me I wasn't supposed to do that and that I had to hook up back up and move to the equipment return area. I offered to do that or hand move the trailer (it's an AV and not that heavy) to the equipment return area. She then said no and would let the intake rep (or whomever that is) know where the trailer was returned. As she walked off, I asked if there was anything else that I needed to do, to which she replied "No and gave me a thumbs up", all while never turning back around to acknowledge my question. Understand being busy but I felt it was rude and dismissive. Also shows a lack of communication between what is being told to customers by employees. I wouldn't have put the trailer over there if a rep hadn't said it was ok to do so.

Most recently, I was moving out of my storage unit and trying to get movers to move my stuff into a UBox to ship to Illinois. I was so close to cancelling the order, after finding out that the Slaughter Lane location temporarily paused UBox services. Carmen literally drove to the Ben White location to get my UBoxes and bring them to Slaughter Lane, at no charge to me. She was communicative, friendly, and kind when I needed it most during a cross country move. She also coordinated with my dad, who helped manage the move in Austin since I am already in Illinois. She was sweet and kind with him the entire time. Can’t thank her enough or reiterate: GET THIS GIRL A RAISE!

That led to the start of a police report I allowed to expire when I finally got a call back saying, "Oops! Wrong unit (even though they'd been telling me my exact unit number was emptied)." That is ... Something you may want to double check before calling a customer. Sorry if I came off a little hot in the voicemails to the manager's number I was given, but I'd argue that would be a pretty anger-inducing call for anyone! Overall, not a bad experience and I really appreciate this place processing my move out quickly so I wouldn't have to pay for a month where I didn't need the unit, but just make sure new employees know to double check certain things and have empathy for the person on the phone.

There were no dollys to move bc the homeless stole all of them and they weren’t replaced and I had to buy my own. Managent did nothing to help annd didn’t even seem to care that they had no equipment to help their customers. I called this location several times and nobody ever answered their phones so I was always transferred to the main uhaul line-I left a note for management to get back to me and she didn’t after 3 weeks so had to reach out yet again. It’s poorly run and that is seen everywhere.

Frequently the employees would park trucks and trailers in front of the loading bays so there was no or very limited access to load/unload. On our move-out day we rented a truck at 6:30pm and while I was in the office renting the truck, an employee parked a trailer in the only available bay. We only rented the truck for 12 hours. We asked them to move it and they told us no then left to go home. We had to wait for other customers to leave, then use a non-truck bay with only two hours left to closing. We weren’t able to load everything into the truck because of the lack of time. We had to return the truck and come back several times in our car to get the rest. That’s not acceptable. Even when you could find a spot, it was always crowded and hard to back into. There was always a cause for significant delays, both moving in and out. There was even one day I was stranded on the road, I couldn’t even turn into the parking lot of the building, because it was crowded with trucks that were dropped off. They need a better system or alternative parking for the dropped off trucks because the current system makes everything harder for the storage customers. I will never use this location for storage again. It’s not worth the hassle.

Next thing the unloading and loading area for individuals was always filled with cars! The carts all had rails on them except one! Which took me several trips to retrieve my belongings. There was just one that was a flat cart. More time out of my day! I was charged a late fee a couple of times because of my card being hacked. I tried the first time, going to the office and the new general manager at the time said that she could not refund my late fee. The other times I just didn’t bother because I felt it wouldn’t matter. I spoke with the new GM as I was moving my belongings out, without an area I might add, I told her the situation that I had one more pick up things left and I had to drive north of Leander and there was no time for me to come back That evening of 4 April. Early war on the fifth which my rent was due I was there and they had already charged me April rent. Of course it came out early April 5 immediately. She did give me a credit. I don’t understand why you take it out immediately and it takes a long time to get it credited back . Once again I am a senior citizen and I need all the money that I can keep. I would also like to mention that the new general manager is very professional and friendly, the best one yet. The only problem I had with that was the employees interrupting her when she was taking care of my needs. She was absolutely fabulous!

There was no urgency to fix it. The next time i came back, i used the "moving help" in which u-haul suggested when i used a truck. The company didnt show up. U-haul was unhelpful because it is a third party, even though its part of the truck rental process. I had to move everything myself. Overall, the u-haul experience has been much lower than what i had with extra space storage ans would not come back.

Never had an issue with the staff, but I would think that when a person is leaving and leaving prior to the end of the month which mine was up on the eighth and I left on the 28th and was paid up that they would’ve at least said thank you for using Uhaul or something. The girls theirs seem very unprofessional didn’t seem like they gave a crap and just dismissed you like you were a rag and that was my worst experience in all the years that I have been there.

The gril that originally set up my rental was friendly and very helpful. I wish I had gotten her name. The others, not so much when I have been in for various reasons. Need earlier office hours on sundays. I was there before 9:00 a.m. to speak to someone and they opened the door right at 9:00 a.m. however there was only one guy working. There was a line of people yet some of the workers decided to go get breakfast tacos at 9:00 a.m. instead of working. That needs to be done before office hours so that the customers can be tended to during office hours. The staff is not welcoming. There is no "hello", "how are you", "sorry for the wait", Etc. A simple hello would work.

The lot was full even having several lanes three trucks in. After searching the entire lot, the truck was found to be parked behind another and not clearly marked. Poor customer service. In my opinion the truck should be brought to the front for customer pick up and inspection. Upon inspection the miles were unable to be seen and there was a low tire alert on the dashboard. The store itself clearly had not be swept mopped or cleaned in quite sometime. I would highly doubt doorknobs etc had been wiped down. Although a comment was made about no reuse/sale of the lock and key due to cross contamination ….. really? Several of the staff were helpful but a few not so much.

The only suggestion we would make is having trash cans somewhere in the building, maybe one per floor near the elevators. There was a lot of trash (mostly broken locks and water bottles) and we had to take our empty water bottles in the car with us too. Other than that, great service overall!

I attempted to contact the Slaughter location on multiple occasions prior to the day of move out. I left a message with customer service Rep for Manager Tristin Timms to call me and I was told I would hear back from him. Next day with no call back I called again for Manager and person advised that she could help that she assist this location. I asked about my unit and that I had left my key in Houston and did the facility have a bolt cutter to cut my lock. I was told that they did and that it would not be a problem. When I arrived I was denied access and said I needed to call a lock smith to enter my unit. After an hour plus delay in locating a lock smith on a Saturday morning the lock smith arrived and opened my lock in less than 30 seconds. My overall issue is not that I needed a lock smith to open my locker it is the fact that I was given incorrect information and if I would have known about the procedure, I would have arranged to have open prior to the morning of my move. The manager on Duty tried to accommodate and indicated that she was new to the location.

Even when he showed me were the storage size facilities were, the girl next to him knew I couldn't open them and opened them for me. They even offered me water. The young man who helped me with my boxes was extremely helpful with picking them out. He was also helpful with loading them up. It took me a minute to figure out how to put down my back seat and he waited patiently. I would highly recommend Uhaul the customer service was extremely excellent.

I had to call the national office numerous times to get a message to Ross the manager there. I had major heart surgery and didn't want to go back inside again because it was a risk to my health. Better attention to clients needs to be addressed. I had storage there since 2005. Glad that part of my life is over.

debbie g | First Impressions~ The truck has a very annoying, high-pitched whistle which occurs at about 70 miles an hour; not very fun on a 24-hour road trip! Seems to come from the driver's-side windshield, in the corner. ~ The air conditioning would also simply cut off, for no reason, causing us to scramble about playing with dials, etc. until it began working again. ~ The young man I initially spoke with about accessing our free 1-month self storage unit was more interested in telling me what was wrong-- i.e. he wasn't finding a reservation made from the Holland, Michigan store-- than in how to help me remedy the situation. I literally had to ask him, "So is there anything you can do to help me fix this instead of telling me what is wrong?" He immediately responded, "Oh! I can make a reservation for you." Why wasn't that his first suggestion?! ~ When I arrived to get my storage unit the help seemed unsure of what they were doing. When we were finally assigned a unit and took our first load up, we opened the unlocked unit to fin d it full of someone else's stuff! When I returned to the office, no explanation was offered for the mix-up and no apology for the inconvenience. Maybe a little better training in customer service is needed?
