My only complaint about my experience here and the whole process is that when I got into the van that I rented the fuel gauge was not just on empty. The indicator was past the E and the low fuel light was flashing repeatedly. I had to try to find the closest gas station nearby and Hope I made it there. I’m not saying every Van should have a full tank, but it is a little ridiculous to hand the keys to a renter with a gas tank that empty and expect them to get anywhere to get gas. You guys could’ve at least made sure there was like a quarter of a tank in there. That was very frustrating, and slowed down my day.

Sergio HWhen I receive my rental, it was empty. I let the clerk know about it. He said just go put some gas down the street when I and then what I used it for was a total of no more than 20 miles when I came back and dropped off the vehicle. I looked at my receipt and I was charged $458 for the day a charge of 300+ miles were added to My invoice plus an empty vehicle where I had to put $30 of gas in there that was not refunded to me. I’m very upset about the situation and I will be there tomorrow to talk to upper management to resolve this matter.

CESARALEJANDRO RPlease be accurate with the rental descriptions and dimensions. I rented a 4' × 7' trailer but it was only 3'3" wide. I didn't realize until I reached my storage unit and realized there isn't I was moving was too wide to fit. Had to go all the way back to U haul to trade for a trailer that was actually 4 feet wide.

Then the van had less gas than was reported to me. It was actually sitting on empty. Lastly, the check oil light went on as I was driving the vehicle. I have rented from this location before, but was seriously disappointed in the overall experience. The price is too high for what little service was received.

There were 3 guys sitting behind the counter and not a single person got up and actually showed me where the truck was, how to start it etc. when I found the truck, there was a padlock on the door. I went inside to tell a worker and he finally got up. The level of service is beyond inadequate. I will never use your service ever again. You might as well pay me for doing all the work. Had the amount of pictures I have to take with the stupid app is ridiculous. Why aren’t your withers doing these inspections. The customers are going all the work while your counter people just rut around and click click a computer.

It was such an inconvenience to have to change my contract to a different vehicle.. the vehicle I did receive had a small amount of gas and I had to take time to waste to go put gas which also incurred additional mileage. I did not have a good experience and the rep that works. There was not very helpful. When I came in he didn’t acknowledge me and he helped another customer. When I mentioned about returning the vehicle, he didn’t bother to explain the process. He just said go to the front and get a QR code. When I returned the vehicle, the worker was really great answered all my questions. He was really great.

VICTORIA NHad to wait over 30min in line for only 2 customers in front of me. Was asked for all the same info I just used for online check-in. The truck he gave me was marked as having 1/4th tank of gas, but instead had 20mi to go before empty. This caused me to further delay the start of my rental and forced me to drive 5 miles out of my way in order to get it filled immediately instead of on the way like the original plan was. There was an error constantly flickering on the dashboard about the gas cap not being replaced correctly, even though it was. I attempted everything to fix it and could not. This experience was poor enough that I switched to rent further trucks from a new location to avoid any further troubles.

CHRISTOPHER AThe system was very slow in the morning and so it took longer than usual to check in for my rental. The 10' Uhaul I rented was clean but the emergency parking brake release lever did not work. I notified the staff who were able to fix it for the short-term, but it was still not useable during my rental period. Despite those issues with the truck, the staff was friendly and helpful and the van met my needs.

MOHAMMAD SThere was only one staff at this facility. This probably stressed and rushed the employee on providing great service and attention to each customer. We had an appointment at 10am and still had to wait about 30 minutes. By the time we finished served, there where at least 6-8 more people in line for this single staffer. Management needs to look at the reservations, and add for drop in, and schedule staffing accordingly. No excuse on how management treated this one employee.
Jeffrey CThe following does not pertain to the one employee working this site - he was doing the best he can given U-Haul would schedule only one person to work this busy location on a Saturday morning. My one-way rental was reserved on 12/17/25 for a 12/27/25 pick-up from U-Haul Curtner. Less than 24 hours before my confirmed reservation, the pickup location was changed to U-Haul on The Alameda. I found this seriously inconvenient given I was meeting someone to help me move and drive, and now had to adjust our plans to accommodate U-Haul's change. Look, I get availability and all that entails, but can't they foresee something like this? Luckily, the Alameda location wasn't too far from Curtner but it necessitated us having to incur an Uber charge to get my move/drive help to that location. Then, when I got my dropoff location set, we showed up at the confirmed dropoff location (Oakdale Food & Liquor) - only to be told they didn't "have room here to drop off your truck, can you please take it to Sinclair" (a different location, less than a mile away, but still). I feel like they should have cut us a credit for the additional 1-2 miles and inconvenience of having to drop off the truck after a long day of driving and moving. U-Haul's authorized dropoff locations really need to get it together. So while it all worked out, it wasn't ideal for a paying customer who did exactly what she had agreed to do per a confirmed reservation - but U-Haul's actions said otherwise - like bait and switch. We got done what we needed to, but this was not a great experience overall. Management, are you listening?
ASTRID GGet your stuff together on the back end. It's always the most frustrating part of the move. Your self check in option isn't clear/ doesn't work. You're always understaffed bc people come in mad at uhaul and take it out on workers.
Stacey MAt both the San Jose locations the customer service was excellent. Javier in San Jose on The Alameda was super kind. He gave me a new truck that had only 950 miles on it, because we were driving over 1,000 miles over 2 days. The truck was clean and rand brand new. Returning at the Topaz St location was super easy. Didn’t have to stand in line. They gave me the option of getting a hard copy receipt or having it emailed. And lastly, they did not charge me extra for a delayed return as it was Christmas. Returned on 27th. Thank you!
