I rented a U-Haul pickup truck with the intention of pulling a trailer. First I called customer service and they told me that all of their trucks come with a trailer hitch ball. I went to the warden location and they said the same thing. I also called the location where I picked up the truck and they confirmed it as well. Three points of contact…all the same message. I picked up the truck and no hitch ball. They told me to go to Warden to pick one up. So I went there and I had to rent the ball separately. I was not pleased.

UTPAL KThere are 2 issues. The first is the location staff. The FIELD staff were absent and unavailable to help me at pick-up. I had a lot of problems finding the truck and no help in navigating through the electronic issues after reserving the truck in order to leave the location. The second issue was with your new setup where I reserved the truck by phone. I reserved it with your staffer - Syed. He NEVER explained that I had to download your APP. He never told me I could not pick up the truck at the location I wanted. On the day it was reserved, I had to go to another location - greatly out of my way - causing me extra mileage and increasing my costs. Your new reservation system is not user-friendly. I will NOT use your services ever again and will warn my friends to avoid your company.

After spending 30 minutes withe the cumbersome and time consuming phone app which was telling me that the key was hidden in the back of the truck, the same rude counter help them said "...no, the app is wrong, the key is behind the counter ...". So why send me to the app in the first place, other than to waste my time ? The equipment was clean, but I would not describe it as well maintained. Steering loose and wobbly, shocks shot, etc. Since U-Haul no longer cares about customer service, I will look elsewhere for a rental next time.

It's utter madness that you signal availability yet, it goes to scheduling and manually selected at a later date by someone else. driving over the city to pick up a truck for moving was a nightmare.
Will SThe app didn’t allow me to upload photos and complete the process of picking up the truck. But I would think it would be a smoother process than waiting in a line to do it with a person. On my return the app worked but there was nobody around to check the truck or tell me where to put the blankets/dolly.

The line up to get equipment was extremely long and on one of the busiest weekends of the year, they had 2 staff members to help when it should have been at least 4 or 5. Plus, I hate having to use the app to check in and then still have to wait in a long lineup. I don't think I will be visiting this location again.

PRAMOD LMy only complaint would be that when the pick up is scheduled for 7am and you get a message asking you to be there 15 minutes ahead of time to complete the check-in, but then you can't check in and fill out all the requirements on the app till 7am when the information comes on line. That was a bit frustrating. If there's any way to let early pick ups know not to get there early, that would be handy. Other than that, everything was great.

PAUL NThe issues I had just to get a vehicle were very time consuming. The first vehicle I was given had been blocked in by another rental that was discovered the previous driver took the keys with them and it couldn't be moved. The second vehicle was then discovered it had a faulty head light and the third vehicle they finally gave me had the engine light on, I asked if that was ok and they stated that it was just a sensor. Just to finally get a vehicle it was almost an hour without the line waiting. What I didn't think to check after I left was the headlight switch. The next morning when I left before the sun was up I could barely turn the headlights on as they had been smooshed into the console so the knob was level with the dash. The other thing that I don't think worked on the vehicle is the "best MPG" gauge. no matter what speed I drove it stayed in the red zone and never went into the green (even when I spent over 1 hour going 20km across the 401)

She also can't explain why there's a deposit of $150 if we pay cash or debit. All she can say is its the policy of the company. The dent in the passenger side door doesn't have an x mark.

I don't see why I'm walking into an establishment to rent the truck and instead of taking my information they book me a reservation then directed me to go online to complete the online reservation which took forever and up till this day still never got completed. And what I found even more strange is that on the back end of things before I got the truck they were calling the emergency contacts that I put down. I don't like people being in my business. The people that I put as emergency contacts are for that purpose and that purpose only. They do not need to know what I'm doing, if I wanted them to know, I would have broadcast to the world that I was going to rent a truck. And then they had the nerve to call me and tell me that one of my contacts is not answering their phone, so if I can provide them with another contact. Why are they being called in the first place? A process that should have taken me 10 minutes took me an hour. If that is the process from now on, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. P.s. not everyone likes doing everything online (like me) that's is why I walk into the establishment not for me to be redirected to go online, I prefer a human experience, the way things use to be before.

Zubin MI had booked with over the counter service and I got there they said I have to download an app first and when my phone didn’t get a strong signal they made me wait to go through all the promps on my phone instead of them helping me through the computer which they could see and then didn’t have all the equipment I originally booked ( 4 Dolley). Didn’t show me were the vehicle was and someone in the parking lot realized I was having trouble and finally helped! It took me over an hour through this process! They should walk with you and show were the vehicle is parked ! Never again will I go to Warden and Elsmere! It’s about service and representing the company you work for!

JEFFREY ZMy reservation was made on the iPhone app for self pick-up at 6 AM. My truck was locked in the back lot and had other vehicles parked in front of it. I had to wait until just before 7 AM for employees to open the location. They provided me with a different truck that was more easily available but then I had to wait for my equipment reserved - furniture dolly and one package of six blankets. When I returned the vehicle I was told my contract had 6 bags of blankets with 36 blankets in total and would need to pay a penalty. The staff at the counter did help me and it was resolved but AFTER 1 HOUR. My time was wasted from mistakes made by U-Haul at pick up and drop off and created considerable stress and concern. I would not rent here again.

SELINAADELE MI’m reaching out regarding a billing issue with our recent trailer rental. We picked up the trailer at around 6:30 PM, as we were delayed by rush hour traffic, and returned it just after midnight. Although it was only a 5-hour rental, the system appears to have charged us for two full days. We were under the impression that as long as the trailer was returned overnight, it would still qualify as a single-day rental. Had we known it would be billed as two days, we would have made use of the full second day. Would it be possible to review this and issue a credit for the additional day charged? I couldn't get some of the functions on the phone to work as I am not adept with the technology (67 years old), neither could my 28 year old son do everything from his phone. Further, the young woman who "helped" us was rude and intolerant of the fact that I did not know how to use my phone to procede with the transaction. She made me feelm as if I was a burden as the process took a long time. It did all work out in the end but it was a very unpleasant experience that I will not do again as I will find another rental company. You need to have an alternative method of check in that is more efficent for people of my generation with limited technology ability

My boxes were damp and right from my first day there I had a terrible time trying to close the locker door (I also had two friends attempt to close it and both struggled as well). Additionally, every time I opened the door or shut it a bunch of sawdust (our what I believe to be sawdust would fall on me). The containers were not in good condition and I was not willing to risk having my stuff in there during the Winter months.

Get retrained so that the staff don't get the full brunt of the criticism and harassment because of your blindspots. I would never buy a franchise for that reason. When I came in to rent the van body, I was told I was required to purchase and use a Uhaul lock. That lock was junk and did not even secure through all three portions of the van body door fastener (but my own lock did). The staff were rude on several occasions. additionally, I was taken for the first time, on a golf cart, to see the unit, the driver smashed the roof of the cart on the opening garage door and debris flew at me. The ‘gold’ lock that goes on the left side of the unit is also a joke. One swing of a tack hammer would open it. Obviously this is just a means of pressuring people into paying more for 24 hour access in addition to forcing people to buy a crappy uhaul lock. The location is not secure and my unit leaked, damaging a $4000 mechanical massage chair. I have, over the years, rented many, many uhaul trucks, mostly for business purposes, but sometimes for personal use (as I did to fill up my vanbody storage rental). I did not rent from uhaul when I emptied it out. Because of your unfair, gauging policies, rude staff, inadequate facilities and the generally poor service (staff would not even provide me a paper receipt a email only) uhaul has lost my business permanently. Your service is terrible!
