My reservation was moved from the San Francisco Bayshore location to the Belmont location at the last minute. When I arrived and inquired about how the billing for mileage would be adjusted, the clerk had to ask the manager. The manager stated that he couldn't do anything and that I should try to call the Bayshore location. In my opinion, he needs some customer service training. There were three people standing around without customers, he could have picked up the phone and called the 800 number and explained the situation to resolve the issue. I ended up doing that myself, but the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

I was initially given keys to a vehicle parked behind 2 other vehicles. Then after going back to the front desk and recieving keys for a van that was able to be driven out with no obstacles, I couldn't complete the intake survey and photos. After going back to the counter AGAIN I learned that they changed the vehicle under someone else's name, and so they gave me a THIRD set of keys for a different vehicle AGAIN. No one was rude, but also no one apologized for the large inconvenience they caused me, multiple times.

We rented a truck, blankets, and dolly's. After we got through the paperwork the guy tells me the trucj is all the way around the back side of the building and tells me to go find it, then tells me the things we rented will be stacked in the closer side of the building. I made the comment of "you guys don't bring the truck up and look at damages together or load the rented items into the truck? You make your customers find their truck and load the rented items themselves?" His response was "yup!". UHAUL's customer service has gone down the drain.

This was an excellent experience. The truck I rented was brand new with only 780 miles on it. The check out process was pretty much automated with a very short visit to the counter to check in with staff and to get the key. I'd come back to this location for sure. There was one thing that happened that I was not expecting that caused some confusion and suspicion. It was a phone call on the morning of the rental from someone claiming to be from U-Haul. Apparently a different U-Haul office offering me a different truck to be picked up at a different location. The number shown on my phone was not from the Belmont location and hence I was suspicious. I did not accept the offer and was able to confirm with the Belmont location immediately afterwards that my original rental reservation was still good. Nichole at the Belmont office also confirmed that the call was legitimate. I wonder if there's a way for customers to be given a heads up about this so that there's no confusion.

The truck was low on gas, and the side view mirrors were stuck in place so it was a hazard. Aside from that, the truck was clean, ran perfectly, no issues and the employees were very professional and nice. The store was well maintained as was the overall property.

Every thing was going fine until the check out person when handing me the key said the truck had only a 1/4 of gas in it. Very disappointing to hear that the truck was as almost empty. Not sure why they would give someone a truck immediately needing gas.

As far as the drop off, it was quick and easy, I had confirmed online (again, the grueling phone system note) the exact time, it took 1 minute for the gentleman to check the gas tank and condition of the truck, and off I went.

There is no drop off box, made us go around for 30 mins to look for the fucking drop box, so we found a lock, the passcode is SYOY, we lock the car key behind the car on the roller door lock

The location was well maintained, and every staff member was very helpful. The only issue was the condition of the truck I rented. The key had to be positioned at a very specific angle to be removed from the ignition; otherwise, it would get stuck. The driver’s-side window was also extremely difficult to roll up and down. It became stuck when I rolled it down, and I had to manually pull it back up. The truck’s roll-up door was very difficult to close completely, and even with someone helping me, it took multiple attempts. I also think customers should have the option to rent a lock for the truck door.

I was very disappointed in this team. They did not let me know that filling up the gas tank of the truck was not necessary. It was empty upon pickup so I filled it. I expected to be refunded for filling up the tank since it was not a part of the contract and they declined. Exercising their services again. U-Haul needs to communicate expectations better. Filling up cost Mr 100$ I won’t get back. Now someone else gets free gas. So disappointed.

The van was dirty. Bugs on the front. The windshield was covered with bugs. The inside of the windshield had a film that made it difficult to see out of. The paperwork said it had 11/16 of a tank of fuel. It was closer to 1/2. I went inside of the store and told the woman helping me and she said to just take a photo and they would not penalize me for the difference. I filled it to 11/16 because I did not want to have to take the time to show the photos to the person who checked me back in. I really dislike the accident avoidance system. As I drove up the freeway it kept pushing the van from one side of the lane to the other based on the traffic location. It was during commute traffic and there were a lot of vehicles on both sides. The system did not like that and kept pushing me from side to side. On another occasion, I was in the right lane on a freeway. A car next to me cut me off to make an exit they missed. The system, though it was not that critical, drove the van 1/2 way into the emergency parking lane. Which meant that when I wanted to go around the the driver side of the car, I could not. As a result I was forced to continue towards the back of the car that cut me off. The red light in the dash came on, the warning bell sounded. All I needed to do was to move to the left and go around the car. The system did not allow that and I almost rear ended the car. Eventually I found the switch on the steering wheel to turn the system off. But I was not aware of the system being in the vehicle or how to use it, or react to it. All in all it was a terrible experience.

The return after hours was very user-unfriendly, but this does not relate to this location but to all UHaul's locations. Too many steps with mobile app and too many pictures. It was unclear first where to drop off the keys, had to spend 10 min. figuring this out.

There were two defects in the truck that I rented: 1) The clamp that was supposed to hold the driver's sunscreen in place actually fell out during the drive. 2) One of the right-side mirrors would not stay in place,so I had to drive with inadequate view of the right-side of the truck. But the engine and brakes were good!

I was charged a drop off fee because the location was not open as late on Sunday as Saturday when I picked up the truck. This seems like a deliberately hidden fee. I don't think I'll rent again from this facility.

Unexpectedly and despite the whole U-haul system being down for 45 minutes as my movers were waiting at home for me, the staff were polite and handled the growing number of people in line very professionally. Other than that, the process was smooth. Kudos to the Belmont staff on Sat - Bravo!

Staff is friendly and the rental VAN is new. But the van isn't clean. There are mud on the van and bugs on the windshield. Inquire about car wash before pick up. Staff informed me that they don't wash cars. I don't see any car wash equipment around. uHaul need to install car wash equipment at the site and wash all their dirty trucks before rental.

I had reserved a dolly and it was not available at the time I picked up the vehicle. Service was slow, though friendly enough. And the app does NOT work - it's extremely user unfriendly and does not function as expected.

They charged me $21.00 to lack of 8 miles from the fuel tank and return service was terrible and the manager could not even consider the 8 miles short of fuel and changed me 3 gallons of gas for the 8 miles short. The service in return of the vehicle was terrible.

The fan in the truck did not work and I was in 95 degree weather driving for 2 days. This is a basic item that should have worked. For the amount of money I paid for renting and going through that misery I would be very hesitant recommending U-Haul as a quality rental business.

U-Haul employees blocked us in while we were unloading our truck. We were unable to exit, and had to maneuver the truck through a small slot. This put us at risk of damaging our truck, potentially violating our contract return dates, and also just an entirely unnecessary issue. The employees saw us moving and didn’t say anything to us, didn’t ask us to move our truck, or let us know they would block the gate.

Their 10x15x12 unit for $299 is one of the best deals in the SF nay area by volume, Plus U-Haul has the only sheltered loading dock which makes a big difference in the rainy season. so glad this facility was recommended to me by something someone moving out of my previously favorite storage place in Belmont - A1 Storage. And their 10x15 was actually 11x15 👍😏

My only frustration was the auto time out of the lighting that would require me to interrupt my activities to navigate myself (in the dark) to within proximity of the nearest motion detector to reactivate the lights in my section.

First time ever renting a storage locker, but I expected better customer service and help. In the end everything worked out. But I’ll check user reviews next time and literally scope out a locker and its location and the vibe of the staff before I ever do this again. This location is suffering with its small parking lot and navigable space for equipment and loading dock space, especially if you’re coming with a trailer.

Loading and unloading is blocked completely by empty U-Haul trucks and when I asked the person at the front desk can they move some of the trucks he said there's nothing they can do. He's literally sitting in front of all the keys for the trucks.

Gonzalo should not work there. He created a contract that had FOUR CRITICAL ERRORS: DL Expiration date. Emergency contact address misspell. My billing address. (None of the young men knew what a mailbox versus a house was). He said that I had some bogus WORK phone number. I then had to return and coddle him to do his job. He doesn't know how to use the computer program and I would NEVER let him hook a trailer up.

Spent over an hour trying to into the storage unit. Ended up getting 2 units by mistake and spending an extra $268. I was told they cant issue the refund and i have to come in person to talk to the manager tomorrow morning.

I was quoted one price which was also on the display board behind the counter but I was charged a higher rate for my storage unit. The desk associates could not override that $amount and when we spoke to the manager, he said he would not honor the in person quote nor the posted amount on the display board. BAD costume service!

We purchased locks from u-haul for the storage unit that suddenly got jammed one day and stopped working. We did not get any help from the u-haul staff and had to arrange a locksmith to break the lock and get new ones.

The cleanest and nicest storage facility I have been to. Staff is friendly. Parking can get tricky and if you don’t pay attention, you could get blocked in at the loading ramp due to truck drop offs. Just be aware.

It was almost impossible to get ahold of a actual person onsite. I closed out my unit with a rep on the 1800 number. Was explained the $40 fee for not turning the access card in to the office. But still had to call a second time because I got a bill emailed to me for the charges for the next month.

I did all my original reservations on line. I signed up for the truck and storage unit. I have never rented a storage unit before and didn’t live in the area so I relied on the people making the reservations advise me on the size of the unit and any important information, like closing time. Issues that happened: we arrived to unload the I haul truck at 2 minutes to 5 and they said they were closing and couldn’t stay to do the paperwork since it was our first time to use the storage unit, no one told me that and we could have done the paperwork for the storage unit at the time we picked up the truck, but he never mentioned it. We then had to find a place to laid the filled truck because he wouldn’t even let us park it there. We then had to hire back the people that we had hired to unload the truck for the next day. The next day when we came back, they didn’t have the storage unit so reserved available, they rented it out since I made the reservation. They did find another one for us, unfortunately it was too small and I asked the person I made the reservation with what size they recommended for a one bedroom worth of furniture and boxes, I had no idea. It all fit in the truck I rented so i didn’t question the size of the unit she recommended, but the contents wouldn’t fit so they had to get me another one which was I’ve $100 more. To their credit, they are giving us the first month free for the inconvenience, but this was a very frustrating experience that could have been avoided with better communication on their part.
