SANDRA SI left this facility within days of moving in due to the manager, Maria Cash. Even though I was given a free month due to my one way U-Haul rental from Nevada to California. This women was so horrible to me, charged me money I shouldn’t have been charged for, called me prejudicial names, and allowed her staff to tell me whatever they wanted to that eventually landed me with a $500 bill. I immediately moved out of an extremely overpriced, unsecured, and ridiculously small rental units. The walk way to even get to my unit was so tight that I couldn’t get my couch down it. Anyone could pull your things through the chain link fences separating your unit from there’s. I obviously valued my items enough that I moved out of a free storage.

ENRIQUE SI wouldn’t recommend this location to my worst enemy. The staff is completely incompetent, told me things that their manager, Maria Cash, wasn’t able to comprehend, nor listen to. This manager had by far the most unprofessional social skills that I have ever seen in my life. She made up all her own assumptions with no documentation, wasn’t willing to acknowledge the others location for given mileage and took over 90 miles off my contract and charged me for them. She charged net for the day I dropped the U-Haul off even after a staff member told me I wouldn’t be charged and I could bring it in around 1:00pm and that it wouldn’t be a problem. If I had known she was going to do that I would’ve brought it in when it was due instead of trust what her staff told me, and just made extra trips with my car. She also didn’t listen to the female staff member that told her that she had told me my rental wasn’t due until the 20th when I went in to return it on the 15th even though it clearly showed the 20th on the u-haul app. She told the staff member that I had done that and went ahead and charged me 7 more days all because of what her staff had told me to do. This is the first time I have ever rented from U-Haul. I never should’ve trusted what they told me. She even recharged me the rental taxes that I already paid in Nevada. What should have been an extra charge for about 80 miles over @ $1 a mile, and 1 extra day at $40.00 turned into a $500.00 charge because of this drop off location, the ignorant staff, and this horrible, tyrant of a woman. If I could give it 0 stars and leave this review I would. Be careful renting from U-Haul!!!
HAYLEE BI'm not sure if I would recommend this location. I didn't like that I was charged twice; meaning I had two separate transactions with different amounts. Usually or normally once the rental vehicle is returned you get one final charge that was not the case for me. It created confusion when it came to knowing how many miles were used/put in the rental car. On top of that one of the employees proceeded to say that they didn't know how many miles were being put "we don't keep track of the vans" when he knows very well that each vehicle they have is being monitored by sensory or tracking devices in case anything happens to their cars.

DONNELL MMaria was rude. I made a reservation the day before for truck and storage space. Maria got me the truck but failed to add the storage unit. Once I returned to the storage with my things I was made to wait in line for 20 minutes to rent the storage unit. I was u def the impression that we had done all that prior. I asked why she hadn’t done everything all at once and she insisted I was in a hurry. I was not. I believe she did that because she was in a hurry. It was a huge inconvenience having to do everything twice and I ended up having to g to pay movers more money because of the time it took to rent the storage space. On top of all that Mari’s was rude, condescending and spoke down to me. I found the experience to be humiliating and a huge waste of my time. She refused to answer basic questions regarding the locks and getting in and out. Tom & Enia helped me a lot. They explained things and assisted me and my movers. I give Tom & Enia a 10 for customer service. If I was charged more for the time frame I had the truck I’d like a refund. Also the truck had no gas when I rented it & Maria told me to put gas in & I’d be refunded. I put 1/; of a tank but it still read empty. So it needs to be fixed.

KENYA HBetter explaining/relaying the procedure/s for payment methods. Make it more clearer or accessible during the booking process (online, phone and in-person) the difference with credit card or debit card so that ppl can prepare before arrival. The links sent to phone aren’t always working properly and the truck interior doesn’t feel clean/sterilized; steering wheel, dash board etc. or provide sufficient anti-bacteria wipes.

Mayur PWe bought the truck back a day earlier, and told him about the gas gauge and the tank was more than half, he said they don’t reimburse for the day or gas.

THOMAS TThe back door would get so stuck that I had to take it back to Uhaul in LA and then again to Uhaul in Nevada. What a waste of time, money, and gas. I made a reservation weeks in advance for a 15' truck. The day before they called to tell me they didn't have one. What's the point of making a reservation?! And I reserved a dolly. They told me I wasn't allowed to take a dolly one way so I had no dolly. Why would the website allow me to reserve a dolly when it had all of the details of my one-way trip. Why didn't they tell me on the phone the day before that I couldn't take a dolly when they told me they didn't have a truck?!

Jiri R | Overall ExperienceThe manager of this location was below standard in every single way. From the first minute that I walked in the door, she was extremely condescending to me in every way, never listen to a single sentence I had to say without interrupting, and never considered any other point of view but her own with any perspective or situation during the entire rental process. She was beyond rude to me, and even mentioned a snide remark about white people in a conversation she had, which kind of told me that she just was a little racist and maybe that made it come out in one of our conversations. She overcharged me and then when I asked for a breakdown, she just sat silent, not wanting to answer me. It was quite childish, if you ask me. All In all, she was much more concerned about being right and her ego then she was about going above and beyond for a customer. Even if it was a customer of a color that she didn't like, or a customer that she might have disagreed with in some way. I'm not of the thought that customers are always right particularly, but they have to be at least treated like a normal human being and I wasn't even extended that much courtesy.

I’m glad I’m only on the 3rd floor. But I can’t imagine being on the top floor and having to move your belongings up & down the stairwell. Other than the elevator this facility is great hands with current management.
Bryan B | Overall ExperienceThe U-Haul van was clean and in good condition, but somehow they screwed up the van number they gave me with another customers and there was mass confusion when I got back to the UHaul store. They did realize it was there mistake from the get go, and they gave me free mileage on the van (originally I was scheduled for a small truck— luckily the couch we were picking up for easily inside the van.). The agents working in the afternoon were very helpful, but the morning agent was confused and got my reservation mixed with the Korean guy in front of me who I was trying to help translate for— my wife is Korean & I am an ESL teacher, so I tried to help her understand him but somehow I think she thought I was him in their system.)
Jonathan GThe storage bathroom was often unclean and I had to request it be cleaned before I could use it or didn't use it at all. There is no AC or Heating in one area of the storage facility where my storage was located on the 1st floor, which made being in there very uncomfortable and unbearable. Upon move-out the garage like door to the storage dock wasn't working, so my movers had to work extra had and long to wheel all my stuff out on a cart to a side door on the other side of the storage facility. The manager needs Customer Service training in dealing with customers, she never smiles or greets anyone first and she makes visitors or customers feel unwelcomed with her demeanor. She would make a good manager, if she improved on these things, because I believe she works the best she can with the insufficient skills she has. I like her personally, but I think she lacks professional skills and character, which she can improve on. And, they changed to Access hours from anytime during business hours to only 2 hours at at time visits-leave-comeback-leave, etc., which was not what I agreed to when I rented my storage unit. Also, the storage I rented had mosquitos which ate me alive almost whenever I was in it. I wouldn't recommend this storage to anyone, until they fix ALL the issues I stated in this feedback.

Jeffrey MI am deeply disappointed with my experience at the U-Haul location in Downtown Los Angeles, situated on Arapahoe Street. I have been a valued customer since November 2023, occupying a unit there. However, I encountered significant inconvenience during the move of my belongings up five flights of stairs due to the elevator being inoperable. This forced me to discard all of my furniture as the mover was unable to transport the heavy items up and down the stairwell. Upon returning in October 2024 to retrieve my belongings from storage, I discovered that the elevator remained out of order. Despite this ongoing issue, I have not received any compensation for the inconvenience caused. Furthermore, I have not been offered any courtesy measures by U-Haul. My overall experience at this location has been profoundly disappointing.
Brandon W | Overall ExperienceThe people checking out vehicles need to be more careful to mark the gas at the right level not above where it is so that customers get charged a gas fee. That's shady dealings. The gas was at 1/8 and the guy checking me out must have marked 1/4 because I returned the vehicle with fuel on 1/8 but was charged $30 for fuel.
HAROLD BEquipment was great. Guy cleaning the trucks and moving them up was friendly and helpful. The different guy who was there when we dropped the truck off was also friendly and helpful. The desk attendant when we picked up the truck clearly didn't want to be there and I will not go back because of it. The truck was great though.

She gives out false information in hopes you will not do your research & catches an attitude when you find out that she made up the information to get you to stop asking questions. The elevator has been out for almost 2 years now with no date on repairs in site . This is an inconvenience giving the fact that my storage is on the 5th floor . This is literally the worst experience I’ve ever had with a storage unit . I would absolutely not recommend this U-Haul location. It is not worth the headache that you will encounter when dealing with the management Maria cash . All of the other staff seem to be nice but I can tell even the staff do not like her ways but they need employment and have to deal with her . I give this location a 1 star and Maria cash a 0 . I hope you guys take in consideration of the people you have running your business cause Maria cash is a sad excuse for a manager.

ALI M | Overall ExperienceMany issues with physically accessing my unit due to the elevator constantly being down and, doors that were built on top of my initial unit doors. I had to break my couch to get it out of my unit because the doors they put on were smaller than when i moved it so the couch would not come out. Luckily i was throwing it out anyway. When i first rented the unit, the door was not properly aligned with the lock. I was told to lift the door with one hand and place the lock on and secure it with another. The man working at the time pinched my arm and told me to work out. I had so many issues with renting here and it felt pretty impossible to get a hold of anyone here. I would not recommend renting here and i am very glad that i was finally able to move out.

I had to carry my belongings up floor flights of stairs when I initially stored them. I had to carry them down when I left. Worst experience I’ve ever had and I’m not exaggerating. To top it off, the price of my unit increased while I was there. I will never use them again and would not recommend anyone else to.

Los Angeles had a very wet winter (rain) last year and the roof to the building had a leak. The leak went onto my belongings (and other unit’s belongings on the 7th floor) and stained a $500 white sofa that I had in storage that I could no longer use. I would not recommend that anyone rent a unit on the 7th Floor because repairs to the roof may not have been completed from last winter.
KEVIN M | Overall ExperienceThe elevator has been broken for several months. My unit was on the 5th floor, and I was never notified about the broken elevator. I had to spend 8 hours moving a 10x10 unit full of heavy boxes down 5 flights of stairs. I have a knee injury so this was extremely painful. It's been 2 days since the ordeal and I'm unable to walk properly. It's likely that this aggravated my injury. I'll need to return to the hospital for examination. Also, my unit was completely fenced in. They cut a small hole in the fence with bolt cutters, and I had to crawl in and out with my boxes. The woman at the facility was condescending and hostile, as if I was the one inconveniencing her. This experience was appalling.

I had no idea in advance I had to pay someone to carry the items I brought upstairs SIX FLOORS I also had to go up and down the stairs several times to resolve issues unrelated to my payment. I spent 800 not knowing other renters have refused to pay. I paid in good faith believing the services I was paying for were still intact. The elevator situation is unacceptable and. U-Haul should consider closing this location or keep the facilities in order.

Attendant (vehicles) told me to street park while U-Haul vans were in 1 of the 4 spaces (I was unloading storage). Lot had no clients waiting - his reason: need to finish checking it in. Manager is unapproachable & told me to check out by taking pics - ONLY. I wanted to close the account on exit! Told me "no" that's not how it's done! Tidy premises. Was forced to take a unit OTHER than size I reserved & in the "access only during working hrs area (adjacent to interior "dock"). Do NOT recommend this location.

One of my boxes with small electronic parts fell and the unit next to mine may jabs some of my parts in it. Also, my TV tipped over and has a small scratch in the glass, now, which wouldn't have happened in the person probably living in the unit next to mine hadn't shaken the fence which slightly bumped what my TV was resting on. The elevator... the slowest elevator on earth. The ramp down to our cars... a pipe sticking out that I often bumped into and the pavement at the bottom of the ramp has a dip in it causing the cart to lean into it enough to make my stuff slide off the cart. The woman that works the office in Thursdays... wonderful. A very nice member of your staff. In fact, all of your staff that I had dealings with were very nice.

Packing paper/boxes had been chewed through, peed on, defecated on...and in one case the decomposed skeletal remains of a mouse were stuck to the side of a box. Absolutely disgusting level of cleanliness at this facility and will not be recommending this location to anyone.

Furthermore, only units available are restricted to Office Hours Design flaw: cart to ramp & rate of incline ( both unnecessary & created hardship). Rental drop offs parked 4 deep on-line preventing access to the 1 (one I tell you!) off loading parkings space & 2 adjacent contained a Usual truck & trailer. Attendants non- responsive to a question after 40 minutes! Put me up against closing time. Can not recommend. Will not select the "convenience feature" of UHaul Storage again & will speak to others about this. (I was In uHaul rental, too!)

I felt safe having them around when I left late at night and was happy they were there. The facility elevator was the slowest ever but I was happy that it was working while I was there. I was able to use the carts and dollies, which made life easier. I would recommend this Uhaul location to anyone who asked me.

miguel s | First ImpressionsThis was by far my worst moving experience and one that could have been avoided/made less stressful with clearer communication and assistance. I chose this location based on the U-Haul website upon searching for a specific climate-controlled storage space. This location showed as having only 1 left, so I called the 1-800 number immediately and made the reservation for it, noting that we needed a truck as well, referencing the one-month free. Upon arrival during moving day (where we then had to take the rest of our stuff with us on a two-hour drive), I noted the deal to the staff member who flat out said it would not be honored as it didn't apply to our rental (even though we verified everything over the phone). Not only that but our rate was different than what we were quoted, even though I had a confirmation e-mail with our reservation and rate. This all seemed suspicious but we had to get going with the move, so I resigned to having to deal with it the next day over the phone. I was then given my key card and tried to get to our storage room. Our key card didn't work (the rep told me it takes a few minutes -- but it ended up not working the whole time). When we got to our floor, it was hot and damp (clearly not climate controlled) and the storage did not match what we saw online. Instead of private rooms, they storage areas were cages where you could see everything inside AND the chain linked fences had openings in them. I looked at the receipt the staff member printed out for me and it said "No Climate". At this point, it was a comedy of errors. I went back down and even the staff member said this was all wrong but there was nothing she could do. We finished our move, reluctantly leaving our stuff in a cage without climate control (luckily we sold our refrigerator last minute the day before, otherwise it would be in there now). As directed, I called the GM the next day to try and have this amended somehow. Though Yolanda verified that we actually did qualify for the one month free, there was nothing that could be done about the change in reservation. Apparently, even though you reserve ahead of time -- it is still on a first come, first serve basis IN PERSON (which makes no sense, why would you show on your website that you only have "1 left" when making a reservation; that implies you are snatching up the last available spot for that specific category you checked off during your search -- in our case, climate control). Yolanda apparently honored our initial rate with a monthly discount to match (though we have yet to receive email confirmation) and now have to wait and see if a climate controlled room opens up, which we then can only confirm in person. A move is stressful already and was only made more so by a flawed reservation system and lackluster staff that, while friendly, failed to make things right during our move. I would not recommend this storage facility (or U-Haul for that matter) to anyone.
