Didn't register to pick up my vehicle from this location, team was very impersonal and defensive. U-haul still had cardboard advertisement in the cabin and it was unclear how much gas was needed to be put back in the truck, leading to extra fees.

I used this location to set up my reservation for a 26’ truck in January and it was smooth, however when I called back to set up a trailer reservation recently, the representative Kelly answered; sounding frustrated and overwhelmed and stated “F**k Off” and hung up the phone. I expected better from a small town shop.

Nothing wrong with the equipment. However, upon arrival at 8:30 AM, I had to wait a few minutes for someone to even be at the desk. One of the ladies finally came out of the office but with zero greeting and the other person was arriving late. It took them a long time to get my order pulled up. One person was using foul language at the computer being slow. To be fair, they were far more professional when we went out to get the trailer. My complaint is simply the customer service was not prioritized.

I already submitted a formal complaint. However, this location had terrible customer service, then they lied and said they gave me the equipment, tried to gaslight me into saying the contract wasn’t even in my name and then wouldn’t even pull up my agreement to explain charges. Also wouldn’t review camera footage after I told them I never received the moving equipment needed. Will never return or recommend this location.

Have more than only one attendant on duty. When I picked up my trailer there was only one person on site. The people ahead of me in line had transactional or booking issues and took a long time. The attendant who helped me at 9AM on Wednesday April 16 was excellent and helped me hook up the trailer.

It was not made very clear to me what the process or timeline looks like for hearing from U-Haul (and/or the insurance company) for their inspection of the truck I rented for how water entered into the cargo area of it that led to water damage of a handful of the items I was transporting.

Inside of the cab smelled like cigarettes, cup holders were sticky, mud on the ground in the cab, trash inside the truck when I got in (hair ball and trash) & I had online pickup but still had to wait in line to get the keys. I also picked it up with only 1/4 of a tank of gas - I’d expect it to be full at pick up

The flat tire indicator came on 2 miles from pickup location. The sas was at 1/4 and I returned with an almost 1/2 tank with no refund. Give me a full tank to bring it back full. My drop off time was calculated based on my reservation time and not the actual pickup time. Staff was dealing with a situation with the Police and that chopped into my time. Plastic cup cover on the floor in the front seat. Too much room for improvement.

The general manager, Shelton, does a fantastic job. He handles customers with poise and grace. I witnessed him multitasking and was able to pretty much help 3 different customers at once.....impressive. He's got a great demeanor and a positive attitude. Best experience I've had renting from U-Haul.

The customer could have been more friendly when I asked a question she had a not so nice remark. I paid for a dolly and was not instructed where to find it. I don't appreciate me prefer to choose the counter and still have to use my phone to check in and get the rental. The walk around and have to take pictures with my phone is just ridiculous If I wanted to work for uhaul I would apply. How are you going to remove the Free in town mileage but have the customers Still take their own photos. No customer service just a greedy company trying to capitalize off the market. This company use to be great. I'll pay more money renting from Penske just for the service.

This Uhaul location is a total disaster. We were left unattended in the rain for 45 minutes because the location was locked and dark for a 7:00 pickup. We were promised a $50 refund that was arbitrarily reduced to $30. The rented truck had a broken windshield and side mirror. If you need to rent a vehicle avoid this store like the plague.

Your employees make you hunt for the vehicle on the lot, only to find it blocked in by 2 other vehicles, so you have to wait to have it moved. They assigned the vehicle to a Lora Cobb in Lowdersville SC instead of me, Lora Cobb in Lenoir NC. They charged $35-$45 more than quoted on these last 2 rentals from Raleigh and then the vehicle kept breaking down going to our destination and I couldn't reach road side assistance. Therefore I reached out to Wes at Fairway Tire in Lenoir NC, and he was very accommodating. Not at all pleased, except for drop off place at Fairway Tire

The low volume of 6x12 trailers in the area made me have to go here. Female employee told me she wasn’t lifting no 6x12 today. Then said I would have to help her. Uhaul has a lawsuit brewing when employees are demanding customers to help with the equipment.

There was a issue with completing the reservation which required me to contact Uhaul Corp Accounts directly. No one answered on the provided number. The manager on duty was disinterested in assisting with anything; he seemed dismissive and even asked if I wanted to cancel the reservation?!?!? I felt like I was bothering him. I left the office to avoid a heated argument with this guy. I updated the credit card on the app, but when I later returned to this Uhaul office, the system still would not let me complete the reservation. Luckily, I was helped by a female asst-manager ( the manager had left for the day) who was offered EXCELLENT customer service. She contacted Uhaul Corp directly and we updated our account over the phone. She was genuinely committed to helping me reserve 3 van rentals that I desperately needed. I've Rented From This location several times a year for over 10 years!!!! She gets 5 STARS HE GETS A ZERO

The return date was mentioned but not the time that I was supposed to return it. The other location of return sent me a text that it was late. I returned it right away and wasn't charged as they let the 30-40 minutes go, but I happened to be free at the time. I could have been charged if I was occupied with work. So I would say that they should mention the time that it should be returned and not just the date. Other than that, it was good, a relatively smooth experience.

We arrived promptly at 7:00 AM for our scheduled pick up time of 7:00 AM. There was no employee on-site and after 15 minutes we called Customer Service who connected us with the Regional Manager. The store associate finally showed up around 7:25 AM and did not apologize or acknowledge that she was late, was on the phone with her significant other the entire duration of our interaction, and had a bad attitude about having to go out to show us where our truck was located. Additionally, the first truck that we were given had less than a 1/4 tank of gas in it and was completely covered in snow (it had snowed the day before). The second truck we were given had a windshield that was completely iced over and we had to wait for the truck to warm up to defrost the windshield. If there is a scheduled pick up time first thing in the morning, the truck should be easily accessible, clean, and have the dollies and moving blankets already packed in the back so that the customer doesn't have to spend an additional 30 minutes loading up the truck. We will not use this location for our future U-Haul needs.

Employees were rude and complained about other customers in front of me. The check in process took over 30 mins. Then when I returned it they said they were understaffed and I should just drop off the keys, then hours later I was charged for not adding gas even though I did and didnt have a chance to talk to them about it because it was after I had dropped off the vehicle. There were bugs in the app that made the check-in process less than optimal. When I arrived just before 8 AM, I was the only customer. It would have been easy for the associate to stand with me and guide me through the process, but she only helped when I got stuck on the "buggy" parts of the app. When I approached her, she was very helpful. However, she knew in advance where I was going to get stuck. She could have warned me about it or just stepped me though the process.

Both time I was there picking up and drop off there were two women there. One complain at me picking up that she wouldn't attach the rental equipment for me. Though her and the other lady did. I feel bad for them however it's the job the obviously applied for. I shouldn't have to feel bad for need to pick up rental equipment. Same thing returning the equipment. On top of the lady having problems with the computer she may have been new not sure however she was in the store by herself. This caused significant wait time in line. Uhaul service is horrible!!! Time to hit a trailer to avoid the unnecessary problems.

WARNING!!!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH U-HAUL!!!!!! DESPITE MY CONTINUED FOLLOW UP OVER THE LAST 5 MONTHS, U-HAUL STILL REFUSES TO OFFER ANY COMPENSATION OR RESOLUTION AT ALL!!!! Details below: Our items were stored in a unit over the summer of 2024. When we moved them in, all of our items were clean, dry, pest-free and mold-free. Upon arrival to remove our items just a few months later, we noticed a strong musty smell in the building, then encountered a very large 5” cockroach (have photo). When we opened our unit, we found everything covered in thick mold (have photos). I immediately brought the issue to the attention of the manager. He said that there was nothing he could do, and also said that the damage was probably caused from the water issue in the building. His claim is congruent with the presence of large cockroaches at the unit as well as extensive mold growth. Since it was dangerous to be in the presence of that hazardous air quality and mold growth, the manager advised that he would take pictures of the items so that we could immediately dispose of the items. It goes without saying, tenants at any storage rental facility should expect to receive at a bare minimum, a space free of moisture, mold and cockroaches. That is a given industry standard for any reputable business. Since nearly everything we stored in our unit was completely damaged, there would have been no need for us to spend the time and expense that we did to move them twice over the summer as well as to pay storage costs. YET, U-HAUL OFFERS ZERO REIMBURSEMENT!!!! I also feel that to address this matter responsibly and professionally, U-Haul should have immediately notified tenants when there was a problem with the building. I would imagine a hazard of this magnitude and severity was not isolated to my unit, and I sincerely hope that anyone else who had units affected, can also be compensated for their losses as well. In addition to the distress of quickly trying to replace everything that was damaged, I also immediately began experiencing respiratory problems since my arrival to the storage unit, that likely was caused from the airborne pathogens in the storage building. I wish I could give this review zero stars. I am now having to seek legal counsel since U-Haul has been completely uncooperative.

The young lady that checked me out claimed the lights all worked. I was in the truck while she stood in back. The driver side did not work. After pulling over at a rest area to check my straps I noticed the light dangling by the wires. It was apparent that they just pushed it in to conceal it. I had to stop at a truck stop and purchase cable ties to secure it. Very disappointing.

For this to be a large uhaul facility and close to downtown - surprisingly Horrible. The day I was moving items out, the elevator did not work and it had not worked for 2 days...! Did they bother to email/call me so that I could reschedule my move? NOPE. Consequently, cost me DOUBLE time for my movers to move everything at $290/hr down stairs, without elevator and carts available that SHOULD HAVE BEEN. Horribly expensive because they do not communicate. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE. When addressed with them, I got a roll of the eyes. AWFUL.

Everything about this facility was poor. Lights, doors, bathroom, A/C, and more were constantly broken. The staff was inept at their jobs. The facility had people living/sleeping in there units. Upon checking out 1 of my rooms wasn't closed out and I was charged for another month, even though both units closed the same day with the same staff member. Will never return or recommend.

This was the first storage unit facility where I did NOT have access to a cart! There was NO ONE ELSE moving during this time, so the lack of carts was NOT because other people were using them. Because I couldn't use a cart, the move-in took twice as long & I was unable to get my Uhaul rental back before close. I had to pay an extra $75 which is more than DOUBLE! Also the temperature on the 3rd floor was often ABOVE 85 degrees at the elevator- and by the windows it was MUCH HOTTER! When I went to the office they said I could I would have to 'hunt' to find a cart. They said they knew "for sure' there was one on the 2nd level- but there was NOT! (My current storage unit has 8 on site & I've always had access to at least 2). With NO ONE else 'using' a cart, I do not understand how there was ZERO carts available. Since I was coming from out of town I was not able to make an on-site visit and sadly trusted UHAUL because I have never had a bad experience until now. I still have another truck load to move so I guess I will have to rent a cart elsewhere or something- it is SO inconvenient and just another EXTRA cost!

This has probably been my worst experience with U-Haul. I literally waited for nearly two hours to be serviced. I requested for the lock provided by U-Haul to be removed at least 5-6 times before someone finally removed the lock. I understand you have to take care of the customers that are in the store during the hours of operation, but I definitely was not treated like a typical customer. I was pushed to the side and ignored several times so that other customers could be serviced. The facility has not been well kept lately. The elevator is indefinitely broken with zero notice sent to customers. Locks have been busted put of some of the stairwell doors. The donation amenity is no linger available, again with zero notice to clients and not even a sign up. In addition no signage has been removed to note its not longer operational. The staff here is SUPER helpful and nice but the management is letting the place go. In addition, clients are paying for basic amenities they no longer have access to and the communication is poor. I would not recommend this facility. It's not moving in the right direction.

My belongings were present since after pandemic. Much change has occurred and financially it was challenging till I upped my skillsets and took a different route. Yet as Rodnai, a residing Manager at the location stated, “it takes a think.” It truly does. Yet through the ups and downs her and upper management worked with me and I’m thankful for the grace. The place is clean and well lit. The issues were untimely like the elevator yet other than that they are clear about the rules. Thank you as I move forward to my next journey. There was only 1 cart at the facility and most times someone was using it. I left and went to another facility CubeSmart on Glenwood Avenue and they have four carts much more convenient and I’m happy now please purchase carts for your clients in the future because I’ll never go there again. Moving is stressful and that makes it even more stressful when you don’t even have a cart to use.

The only issue I had was that there were U-Haul Trucks in the parking spaces closest to the ramp for loading from and into cars. We had to park a distance away from the storage building doors to load our trailer. Also, a semi trailer parked in front of the U-Haul Trucks, blocking both access to the storage building and the exit to the facility.

Everything was seamless until I got to my unit and found that it already had a lock on it. So Kai helped me find a unit that was unoccupied in only a minute or two and that was that. When I came I was pressed for time and aggravated from a conversation I had with a woman on the phone from the 1800 Go Uhaul number. This woman seemed to not want to help me at all and was only seemed interested in rushing me off the phone. When I arrived at the locations I explained to Jazmyne Howard and Zeek that I was pressed for time and needed to catch a flight. Jasmine was so courteous and went above and beyond to help me. She made sure I had a unit that was close to the front so that I could off load quickly then accommodated me and help me change my drop off location so that I wouldn’t be anymore pressed for time than I already was. It was only because of her help and professionalism that I was able to make my flight.

I arrived just before office closing after a 6+ hour drive only to be told that the 10x10 unit I reserved 1.5 months ago wasn’t available, and that no 10x10 units were available. I had even called ahead that day to confirm hours and availability, since I had movers coming in. After pleading with the employee, he magically found an available unit and granted me access. However, once the employees leave at 7pm on Saturday, the sliding doors to the storage unit are locked, which makes moving in a uhaul truck full of belongings very difficult. I had to again plead with the employees to keep it open for 15 minutes so we could get the bulky items out that wouldn’t fit through the side manual door. No where does it say on the storage site’s website that the sliding doors (main access) aren’t usable after the office closes. Saying it’s accessible til 10pm but not mentioning that piece is very misleading and unhelpful.

Talking to her and thank her so much for helping me out but her staff she needs to talk to them because the one girl that had on a hat she was tacky she had an attitude and it was very unpleasant and she needs to learn how to talk to customers and explain things better because if she have to look like that in the office then she really doesn't need to work there or her face twisted let's twist it and it's just unpleasant I wish that I had a chance to meet Miss. RODNAI DREW before I left to tell her thank you so much but she wasn't in the store when I went so please let her know that I said thank her from the bottom of my heart but she needs to have a sit-down talk with her staff when she's not around and how they should act towards customers But over all Miss. We arrived at the facility before 7:00pm, we notified the employee that we would be cutting it close. When my wife arrived at 6:57 pm as she was walking in the employee on duty refused to help her and directed her to check in via online. She was short in tone and obviously in to big of a hurry to help. We thus had to keep the 26’ Truck for the entire weekend because of this. Which put our things at high risk being that I had To fly out the next day, so had to park it at a hotel until Sunday. The when returning, the young man who helped me was VERY NICE! but when I went to use my code and key and I didnt Work. Fun Aly after and hour of calling and complaining (it magically started working) I need Some sort of compensation extension on my rental or something. I’m a social Media influencer and have a far reach, then the manager FINALLY called today with and attitude with my wife. Giving excuses about she has a child etc etc.. Rodnai was her name. Attitude, making excuses for her incompetence employees. I’m very mild mannered by nature but this experience was so not right!

The provided access card did not allow access to the bathroom on the first floor in the storage facility. After normal business hours the access card would not work for the sliding doors. My wife and I had to use the small door to bring Furniture into the unit which was very inconvenient.

Used the online sign in and it assigned me a room that was already rented to someone. That facility is very poorly run. Your system availability does not match what is actually free. Also I rented a 5x10x10 off the website recommendation that it would be big enough to fit a 1-2br 1200sft apartment and that was a complete lie. I have to rent another unit because it was so small. I will not be using or recommending you service to anyone ever again.

Out of 9 curtesy carts they only had 3 mattress carts which were still to small to move my mattress and one flat cart that had a broken wheel. I did self check in and it assigned me a unit that was already rented and had a lock on it. When I went back to get another one that was bigger that one was also rented already even though it said it was available on their system. The person at the desk didn’t know what they were doing. Forgot to give me my keycard. And the bathroom would not unlock for us even though after swiping the card it said it was unlocked. I will not be recommending this place to anyone ans will never use this service again. Thank god I only need the unit for 2 weeeks.

First I moved out of the storage on July 14th, 2021, with the assistance of the U-haul movers, and renting and paying for a U-haul truck on 7/14/21. When the U-haul movers finished, one of the movers gave me my 2 set of keys to the Lock, and NO LOCK!. I asked where was the Lock because they knew I was moving out (permanently). He told me it's still on the storage door. I couldn't believe it!. I finally was able to get through on the phone to U-haul, the first person said they would let someone know. Then a few days later I receive a late notice letter. I called again and the 2nd person said they will have U-haul on Capitol call me. I received another letter the next day with late charges. Not being able to go to the storage myself, because I just started a new job and the time's of operation conflicted with my new work schedule. I called again#3, and finally spoke with someone who understood and remembered me, there that moving out day July 14th, 2021. FINALLY the issue was resolved.

I purchased theClimate/Temperature controlled storage unit. The AC was not working properly. The main reason for obtaining the temperature controlled units is to store items from heat spoilage. I am giving U-Haul the national chain a VERY poor rating. The local people were nice and tried to accommodate a poorly run-company. Yolanda , which I assume was from your National cust service center, sent me to the Capital Blvd location from the original Chapel Hill location where the pods were to be stored. She reserved a 10x10x10 unit. I also called back to get another unit since the 10x10x10 was not large enough. I reserved a 7X23.5X6. When my movers arrived at the Capitol Blvd location. There was not place to park the truck. I had to drive around to finally find a place to park my car. There was one guy working the desk and a long line. It was chaotic. When i gave my reservation to the young man, I was then told the only units at that location were 5X5X6 units. I could possibly get four different units. He was not sure if they were rented or not. I had to walk to the units to see if they were actually open and not rented out. What kind of system makes reservations but actually does NOT have what you reserved? Moving is so stressful and to have this debacle from U-Haul is highly unprofessional and unacceptable. I am so frustrated that I even used U-Haul. I would have been much better off going with a less crowded, closer storage unit. The stress of being told my six pods were cancelled, I did not think that I no longer needed to be with U-Haul! I would NEVER use U-Haul or recommend your company. I am a realtor and a home stager and I will make sure my experience is known.

I could tell that she was spent, but she remained professional and accommodating to insure that I found a unit large enough (I had to increase once I saw the size I booked). This facility was extremely busy, right up to closing time at 7 pm. I can imagine that she was understaffed for the busy Saturday. I appreciated her help and we got moved in without too many additional issues.

Upon setting up my storage unit at this location, my account was not set up correctly twice within the span of 3 months. I almost had all of my stuff moved out of my storage unit 2 times because the previous staff did not file the proper paperwork in order to secure my unit. This after each time, I verified with them before leaving the location making sure there was not anything I needed to sign or check. Yet, despite this they still failed input my information properly. However, I will say that with the new management that came in this location has gotten a lot better than it was before. I just had a horrific experience upon moving into the unit. The main reason I am leaving such a review is because I had to put a majority of my belongings into storage while waiting for my house to be built. Thankfully management didn't move my belongings out, that I will give them credit for.

When I closed my account yeasterday the key to my unit did not work. I was told if I lost my key I would have to call a lock smith. I the mean time as i waited with professional moving crew that cost $129/ hour TWO OTHER people came in and complained that they could not get into their storage units for the same reasons. One of the persons has 2 units and couldn’t get into either and cut his own locks off. Finally some one with U-Haul came and Grided my lock off. it took an hour and cost me $129 for movers to sit and wait. I’m also concerned about the security of the building if locks can be changed or switched without my knowledge!!

I was very pleased with the service that I received. The unit was large and clean and I feel safe entering the storage unit. The service associate Justice was very courteous, professional and was able to expedite me obtaining my storage unit. The store was very busy and he worked quickly to assist all of the customers while the General Manager stood outside doing nothing but watch the line of customers grow. When the General Manager decided to come inside to assist, her behavior displayed that she really was not too happy about working. Justice meanwhile went above and beyond and seem to really enjoy his job in helping others. Justice is definitely Managerial material and this was one of the most pleasant and fastest transactions I have received in customer service!

I reserved my unit online to find out the units I reserved/paid for were someone else’s units. They had to find an open one for me to use in which was beside a mechanical unit that was leaking into the unit the moved me to. I ended up spending 3 hours more than I needed to at this facility due to the poor maintenance and lack of organization. I will never recommend this place.

Booked a storage unit in person and the person working there gave me a storage unit that was already in use on the first floor. Since they did not have storage units of our size on the first floor, they then assigned us one on third floor. This unit was also in use by another customer. I was very unhappy with my experience in storing my household items at the U-Haul down town Raleigh facility. Upon moving my items into my new home, I came to realize that I had a roach infestation that had occurred in my pack boxes I stored there for 5 months. I put in a complaint and it was not resolved successfully, after submitting a claim requesting to have my new home exterminated. The $125.00 estimate to have my home exterminated was denied by their RepWest insurance company that's supposed to help with U-haul customer complaints. Saying that no negligence was found on the behalf of U-Haul. This determination I disagree with, because they should maintain their property by having it treated for insects to avoid these type of occurrences. Before submitting this review I made one last effort to reach out to Management and got no response. So, since the company has emailed me asking about my U-haul experience, I'm left with no other choice but to be honest and say... It's been a very disappointing experience with storing my items at U-Haul downtown Raleigh on Capital Blvd and I will not ever be using U-haul services again in the future.

Two opposite comments: Ruben, your employee at the Raleigh location, was fantastic. Knowledgeable, patient, friendly, responsive, a stellar representative for your company. I cannot give him enough stars. Really took of us. The opposite issue is safety that has nothing to do with your team. Three young adults and I ended up moving stuff into the unit around 9:30 pm. There was a man there, he did not appear to be the security guard. He left the door propped open with wood slivers while. He stood with his back to the door on the phone with a cigarette. He also did not appear to be a customer nor work there. My biggest issue is that he propped the door for a good length of time (15 minutes??) after dark. It did not feel secure. I’m not sure why he was there but he was not moving anything. If he’s a security guard, my suggestion would be he does not prop the door open because that defeats the entire purpose of needing a key card to get in

I can't say enough about the staff. If we had a problem or question, They were always very helpful. The facility was very clean. Whenever we had to go to our unit, we would see someone cleaning.

Pretty decent unit, though the building itself smells. The grounds are rough with lots of neighborhood construction, yet they've continued to raise rents. Rent raises were my biggest issue.

The only feedback I have is the facility and anything stored there smells like mothballs. However, I never saw insects or evidence of rodents so I guess that's the trade-off.
