I rented a 6 ft by 12 ft open trailer with a tailgate to drive machinery onto the trailer. The staff was helpful and setting up the rental and hooking up the equipment. But when I got to my destination to load my equipment, it would not fit on the trailer. That equipment was 5 ft wide. It would not fit because you all has changed trailer types and the rear area on the left and right side of the rear opening has approximately 9 in on each side of that tailgate area where the metal goes in from the sides towards the middle of the back of the trailer. That 9 in on each side lost one and a half feet of the rear of the trailer. Making it a four and a half foot opening. At a minimum this should have been disclosed when renting the trailer. This is an extremely poor design. I paid the money drove to my destination and had to go back and return the trailer because it was not suitable. I asked for a refund and was told "No, once you leave the lot we cannot refund your money." I will not be using you all again. And I am sure that many people have already rented your trailers with the same issue. It should have been addressed way before I ever decided to run a trailer there. Done with u-haul!

MORRIS Spretty good experience. wish the 2 young guys at the counter weren’t playing grabass for 15 min while i roasted in the sun waiting to return the truck. seems like that system is broken. if you want folks to stay in the truck when they return it, have someone ready to greet them.

I was renting two storage units in a climate control units, but it still smelled rank and nasty right when you go into the door to the unit moldy nasty disgusting please find a way to take care of that as soon as possible, it can’t be healthy or good for you thank you. There was no lighting in the unit that I rented.

RICKY FIF U-haul corporation offers the app for self check-in then make sure it works properly. Location -straight forward systematic process eased the entire check in and check out process. Guys were very efficient and knowledgable.

Dougal WThe printed contract had very small print that it was hard to read. I was not informed by UHaul staff that I had to bring the vehicle back with the same amount of gas. It caused extra hassle to take the vehicle back and then leave again to go get gas. At least let the client know that needs to be done. Sure, it was in the contract but you get that when you get the truck and the print was so small I couldn't read it. Other than that, it was a good experience.

One request I would have that I wish you would address is for the personnel to give a quick tutorial on the dash board of the rental. I seem to always be on the road when I find I need to know how to find something. I did not find out where the gas gauge was unti i turned the van back in, I had to guess at how much gas I used when refilling it. Thank you for this service.
ROGER SA cupholder was sticky and brown in the bottom. The thing with the cupholder in it (the console?) looked like it was coming off a bit or has in the past - we almost lost the keys in the wiggly gap. The driver's side weatherstripping was coming off, but in otherwise good condition. It made the driver's door hard to close sometimes. The truck cabin was very, extremely loud in the wind.

RANDALL BIt was the pickup with the lost keys and was the only one left on the lot. It wasn't clean but ran well and worked well for the project I had. I would use it again just as it was. Staff was do helpful.
LINDA MIt started out great, was able to schedule me in a reasonable time for hitch installation & wiring and staff was friendly. The problems came when I arrived to pick up my vehicle. My vehicle no longer started without *several* jumps and my check engine light was on. Vehicle is a 2017, 62,000 miles, and up to date on maintenance. Currently sitting in an autoshop to figure out exactly what the problem is, hoping to be reimbursed for whatever this will cost.

douglas b | Overall ExperienceAccording to your website, and the people at the rental office, tow dolly is compatible with 1 7/8" or 2" ball hitch. I arrived at the rental office with my 1 7/8" hitch ball and was then told the trailer only accepted 2" ball. Had I known this I would have put on my 2" ball at home. Going home to change the ball on my hitch would have added time to my schedule I couldn't add. At this point I was told I would have to buy a 2" ball from them, because of misinformation from your website, I was forced to buy extra equipment, or be very late. Not good business practices.

When I came for my reservation in July with my confirmation and reservation number they told me "this Uhaul does not honor online reservations" and my reservation was not reserved. NOWHERE on the website does it say that this Uhaul does not honor online reservations and the employee said it was simply general manager preference. The employee was able to look up and see online when and what storage unit i reserved, they simply just gave it away. I would highly recommend not using this storage unit and should have taken its 2 star review more seriously.

Mahmet was constantly spying on me, and talking to people who would call him inquiring about the private and personal contents of my luggage. And, he was quick to sell my personal items by the second month when I had to receive a new credit card from out of state. He lacked the courtesy and patience of a true professional. I had to wait for a new credit debit card because the original debit card had a breach on it. I contacted , Mahmet via telephone and email to explain this situation. Afterwards, he bugged me incessantly ! for up to 7 to 10 business days - alot of calls and emails every day all day! He obviously deals with a great deal of criminal minded people. He was horrible. I had to wait for a new card with a new account number. I never felt safe on his property. Get a better owner. Everything was paid in full for every month I had the storage unit. I reported via telephone to a staff person once I vacated on April 20, 2024. My last payment was for April 12th, 2024. I always paid my rental bill at least a week to two weeks in advance, even up to the last payment required made before the April also due on the 12th of each month. Thanks,Tracy. Storage unit #200. They put a lock on my storage they gave me limited access for things that were made up and even part of what I did there saying that they would give me warning you for these things and nothing if there's no warning they just shut me off I had one worrying in the very beginning for having things left outside my unit and I cleaned that up immediately and it didn't happen again all the other accusations made against me we're fabricated and not true. I did not even finish a full month there I couldn't wait to get out

My access card does not work. Sometimes have to swipe it five or six times to get it to work. And it's not 24 hours like other people's are I know for a fact that there is 24-hour access cards and I don't have one when I asked one of the staff to take to get me that you took my card and did something to it handed it back and said it should be good now and it's not.

Angel A | Overall ExperienceAn incident occurred where I owed 3 months for a storage unit. I was sent an email saying my unit was going into auction. I was ok with that. Then I get a phone call saying we can work out and agreement and you can pick up your items. Next thing I know I get a receipt from U-Haul showing they charged my WIFES card the full amount over $330 without any notice or anything. That card was not on autopay ever so it shouldn’t have been charged at all. My wife and I are extremely upset. It feel like fraud. No one gave consent to charge the card at all. I will be pulling my items out of this unit and never coming back again. This had out my family in a tough place right before the holidays. This happened to me at the Madison East location 22 atlas ct. The GM was not very helpful In fact he said there’s nothing he can do to change this. I even offered to make a agreement but instead I was charged the full balance!

I then went outside and yelled is anybody working here in this store? And went back in and then I went back out and the gentleman was coming in and said he finishing up something. When the agent was trying to move me to a bigger unit it the computer kept throwing him out of system 3 times so it took a while. Then another guy showed up and he took over and got me into a bigger unit. He also said it came with a lock. Then the other guy said since I had another key on my U-Haul I should have a lock on the door and should be able to lock as I was leaving it over night to unload on Saturday. I went to lock it and there was no lock on the U-Haul and the lock that I was given did not work. I went back in the store and told them this and was told the lock was for storage and then I would have to buy a lock. The gentleman that first helped me told the other guy shouldn’t she get a discount on the lock she is buying? And the other guy said she got the lock for the storage. So I paid full price for that lock but then I got to thinking the second guy originally said the storage came with the lock. So I should have gotten a discount or free because I had to wait and literally yell outside for someone to come in. But really I should get October rent for free now that I think about it. Thank god I am a patient person. Just imagine if I was someone who goes nuts over a few minutes they would have gone ballistic!!!!

I was informed that units were given out on a first come first served basis. I was offered a non climate controlled unit that was insect infested, rusty, and damp. I would not pay any amount for that unit and only took it because the first month was free and had no other options. Apparently reservations are not honored by uhaul. I will be moving my possessions to a different facility that offers climate controlled units as soon as possible.
