ABIGAIL I | First Impressions- When we arrived to move in at 7am on Monday, when the office opened, nobody was around. We were on a tight schedule and this screwed up our whole day. The poor guy who finally did arrive had to handle a backlog of customers with nobody else on hand to help out. I get that people are late sometimes, and I would have been less frustrated about this if it hadn't been for the next point: - Maybe this isn't your fault, but other U-Haul reps told me that I would be able to check-in whenever I arrived even if the office was closed. (Maybe they were thinking about after-hours truck rentals.) When I called customer service after arriving late Sunday night, NOBODY had any idea where to send me or how to address my problem. I was transferred back and forth between the same departments several times, each confidently telling me that the NEXT dept would be able to help me check-in. This only stopped when I started refusing the transfers ("No, they won't be able to help me, because I've talked to that department twice and they've been clear about that.") It would have been 100x better for a rep to tell me that I would not be able to check in and would have to wait until the office opened instead of telling me someone else would be able to solve my problem and passing me off to the next guy. This was really disappointing, and it's NOT a problem with this location, it's a problem with the customer service reps not having enough access to information about storage rentals for them to have any idea what to do in that situation. I'm never going to rent a U-Haul again. This was a really frustrating, disappointing experience. I am reaching the point in my career where I'm finally able to spend a bit more on moving than getting a U-Haul and doing it myself, and given that freedom I will spend more money than necessary in order to prevent myself from going through this experience again.
