Scott CoyleThe returned trailer that I towed for U-Haul's Asset Relocation was not checked in as returned, and required my follow up. It would be helpful if your Asset Relocation System was better integrated with your rental system.

bill detweilerI scheduled a pickup the morning of for later that evening. Forced to download the app, then switched to the 24-7 pickup and drop off without my consent or knowledge. Headache getting the app to work only to discover after calling that we were late arriving by 1 minute. The clerk still on the premises refused to help us. The gal on the phone pushed us back an hour and we went on our way. Too many hoops to jump through, with several pictures required before and after. A real headache. Friends who have stopped in and rented in person had no such trouble. We hope to never have to use UHaul ever again.

Erik NietoThe truck issued to me was blocked in. The person out in the parking lot said that I needed to go back in to the building for a the other key. Desk person said that I needed to wait. I was on a time limit. She said that I could go get the information off of the truck if I was in that big of a hurry. I took a picture of the license plate since she didn't specify the information that I needed. I showed her the license plate and she told me that I needed to get a number from somewhere else. At this time I was vocally unhappy and THEN 2 other people come out of there office to help me. First - why was I, as the customer, the one that needed to go back and forth for the truck information, Second - why wasn't the manager or other staff member called out to help when she had a line building up. I have had another recent issue with U-haul and will not be using your services if I can at all help it.

Christian EubanksRachel, GM, is absolutely fabulous, as Gary, customer service rep. Gary made reservation easy (and was very nice over the phone) and Rachel made our frazzled morning so much better. Only recommendation is to put some sort of flags/construction cones (something bright orange) right before entrance (very hard to find with all the snow piled up, and easy to not be seen by Hwy 1 traffic as we exit), and throughout disorienting lot, due to major construction build there. Also: more sand on icy lot. Otherwise, perfect experience. Thank you!

Diane BakerIt took an incredibly long time to get my vehicle. The person behind the desk made my drop off location for Des Moines, when I asked for Ankeny. When I got to Ankeny to drop off my vehicle, they couldn’t find any of my information and had me drive an extra 20 minutes from where I requested to drop off. I was told I would receive a text with where the address was, and never received one.
Lauren PearsonFor starters, I was rerouted all the way down to Washington because “there wasn’t any equipment available”. When I got there, they weren’t even ready for me to pick up, and said my reservation had not changed even tho the scheduler on the phone said it had. I called to the Iowa City store and turns out they had it so I wasted 2+ hours of my time when I needed as much time as possible… When I picked up, I noticed the Auto Transport marker and running lights were not working. I pointed this out to the employee assisting me with check-out, and he stated “oh it’s fine, the brake and turn signal lights still work”. Additionally, the truck had a very heavy pull to the left which was more noticeable AFTER the truck was fully loaded. I did not have the time or man power to switch trucks, so I drove over 2,000 miles with a heavy pull and no trailer lights. I had to stop often because of fatigue from the pull, and could do little to no night-time driving because it was unsafe. I could not see the trailer and upcoming traffic tended to see it at the very last second, dramatically changing lanes and often swerving to avoid the trailer. Beyond all that, I arrived two days later than anticipated, so my moving help was not available for another week. I paid for EIGHT EXTRA DAYS AT A TOTAL OF $440 ALL BECAUSE MY INITIAL EXPERIENCE WENT SO HORRIBLY. This is by far the WORST U-Haul experience I have ever had, and for such a sustained amount of time… I truly hope no one else ever has to go through this. I will not be referring people to this company ever again if this is how they can expect to be treated…

Carrie FitzgeraldThe cargo van we rented the exterior was very dirty/muddy but the interior was clean. When we returned it the associate that processed the return he himself didn’t seem happy when I told him the van exterior was dirty. It’s like he wasn’t surprised it was dirty which means someone else didn’t do their job cleaning the van when it was returned. The associate pulled the van to the uhaul garage and started washing it immediately. Otherwise everything was fine.
Richard KiokoNice people who helped load, though they gave us the wrong auto transport equipment. I even pointed out that the license did not match my contract and they said it was fine. I got to the U-Haul near where I moved and there was a huge issue and they wouldn’t take the equipment I had because it didn’t match the contract. They tried to charge for an incorrect drop off location and were extremely rude.

I spent almost $800 with U-Haul, plus I used the labor help at both ends. The labor teams were great, the U-Haul locations...not so much. I say again that I felt like an inconvenience rather than someone they wanted to see.

Linfeng HeThis is a very large U-Haul dealer. They are conveniently located near the interstate. My only issue is that there was nobody in the store when we dropped off. We had to find someone in the garage area to help us. Also, it's not really clear what the drop-off procedure is. There should be better signage with instructions on exactly what to do once you arrive on the site. There should also be a bell or something you can ring for service. As stated above, U-Haul needs to help all of their pick-up and drop-off sites get updated so customers can actually use the phone app to drop off the truck.
Darin O'BrienTheir hours of operation stated they open at 9. Employees did not show up until 9. Finally opened doors at about 9:15. One person working, had a line of 12-15 people. I was third in line, and finally left with the rental at 9:45.
Josh BradyOnline check in did not work for multiple people that day requiring us to wait in line and check in. The staff was great and handled the high volume of people well but the online check in would of prevented waiting in line.
