ROBERT CWe rented a 6x12 trailer for a 3 day moving trip, and 2 out of 3 days something went wrong. A tire blew on day 2 and delayed our trip. After the tire got replaced, the next day all the lights on the trailer went out. I reached out to roadside assistance and never got an answer. We had to drive home in the dark with no lights on the trailer.

Aaron PI rented a van for 8am pick up. When I arrived I had to call the 800 number because there were no keys to the van. That's when I learned I had to get the keys from inside the store because vans do not have a lockbox. This was terribly inconvenient since the store didn't open for another hour. I also had a friend with me who pushed her written schedule back in order to help me, and I had to contact my work to tell them in would be late. If customers cannot rent the vans before 9am due to no lockboxes, then we should not be able to choose a time before 9am when setting up the tented online.

It took a lot of talking but he still did not believe us and had to call Derek to confirm. It was not very professional and we had a stress even before renting it. I suggest that U-Haul needs to have better communication with each other, so a customer does not need to face this stressful situation

ROY BTruck was filthy. Couldn’t see past the bugs from the last renter. Tech didn’t tell me I needed to chain the car to trailer. Rear trailer tire had a slow leak. Was flat in Nebraska. Took hours for someone to come change tire. I drove to a Walmart tire center. They would not touch it because it was a U-Haul trailer and I had to go through roadside assistance. Then I misplaced the keys. I tried for five hours to get them to send someone to rekey I didn’t care what the cost was. they called me back three hours later and said they couldn’t find anybody. I was on my own to try to get someone, maybe on Monday. 2 days later. which no one would touch thank God my wife went back into Walmart a third time to ask again. Has anybody found a key to the U-Haul. It miraculously showed up five hours later. My trip was horribly delayed. My wife and I were stuck in the middle of America.

DUY LI pulled up to the location early last week before they were open and happened to notice that the back of the truck was open. I thought this was odd but maybe was overlooked and I proceeded with the rental. I finished the paperwork and payment process and then closed the back door of the truck when I noticed a pungent smell (think rotten food or dumpster). I was hoping it was an animal carcass in the creek beside the business but when I drove it home and opened up the truck to load it , I then realized that it was indeed the truck. We cleaned it multiple times with vinegar, cleaning solution and bleach and although it did improve some it never went away. I called Uhaul reservations when I realized the smell was here to stay and that it might affect my daughter’s possessions that we were moving in the truck. Although, they were very empathetic and friendly they were unable to find me a replacement because it was a busy move in weekend. So now, after the smelly move my daughter is hoping her mattress will “air out” .At the same time, I am disappointed with the fact that I paid a lot of money for a truck that was not clean and obviously was known to not be clean. I know the smell is not the fault of Uhaul but the condition of the rental upon receipt is. Despite the apologetic and friendly people on the phone, I will likely never use Uhaul again and definitely will not return to this location as they obviously knew this truck had issues (this the open door to try and air out the smell.)

GARVEY JThe manager who rented the cargo van to me was very rude with poor customer service skills. The gas tank was 1/4 full and she tried to tell me it was full. I only drove 13 miles for a local move and brought the vehicle back with the same amount of gas, a 1/4 tank. I was initially charged for 15 miles mileage as an estimate and she charged me 7.50 extra when I rented the vehicle. She refused to give me the $7.50 back and would not listen to me so I left. I feel like I was overcharged and would like a refund of the $7.50. I will never use this location again.

James C | Online Move InI’m there should be an in between answer option for some of these questions. The facility is infested with Japanese Stink Bugs which they should do something about. I brought a few unknowingly and unwillingly with me, hidden amongst some of my belongings. My unit was in the top floor. When I went to pick up and move out it was raining outside - apparently inside too. My unit had at least two leaks coming from a leaky roof. It was obvious they were old, ongoing leaks considering one leak was next to a metal beam that was rusting. I took plenty of pictures. I immediately called down to let the manager know about both issues. She replied “The bugs have been here since I’ve been here” and to two of my boxes being soaked “Did you get insurance?” EXCUSE ME?!? How about y’all maintain your building/property!!! I shouldn’t need insurance from things being damaged because y’all can’t repair a roof!! WHY was I paying $150 to has CLIMATE CONTROLLED storage when you can keep the weather out?? Not to mention paying a 50% late fee and getting the same rude manager on the phone when I tried to discuss that with someone in your office?!? I have a new unit where I moved and it HALF what I paid at your place. So, can I say it was a terrible experience? Yes, 100% I can with these issues just stated. Was it all the time? No, most of the time it was okay and not obvious issues. Then again how often does one hang out at their storage unit? Tondra, the manager I spoke of, has ZERO business working in customer service PERIOD. And please, I do not need her to call me again with her insincere apologies. She was rude on the phone a couple of months prior and when I was angry at the party who came with me she also decided she was getting involved with that too. Threatening me with not letting me lease the truck - even after it had been paid for. Telling me I was calling her names when all I did was tell my party that she was being over reactive. Also your policies on your website don’t match up with what she said I had to do. I’m guessing, since she wanted to make my day even tougher, the website would be the correct procedure and not what she said. I was extremely happy to get my items out of this place. Was the overall okay, yes. All your other employees seemed to be professional, accommodating and courteous.

I stuck it out during the pandemic when I was not working for almost a year because I stored my business materials (team building) there even though I never needed them and was making no income. Charge new people more when they rent, leave excellent renter rates alone. I would've stayed for a few more years as my business improved but the last 7% raise was too much. So I'm gone. You lost an easy $1800 a year for a $120 a year raise.

When I first came to Uhaul the manager at that time was helpful, friendly, and made my move in a good experience. When I left management changed and it was the most horrible experience I have had, the manager was rude, lazy and all around made Uhaul look bad. I have always looked at Uhaul as a class storage company but after dealing with her it gives the impression of The lowest class storage company. She spoke as if she was from the lowest educated part of Atlanta and treated me as if I was not important. Not only that but when I moved out she did not want to do her job and complete my move out which resulted in being charged the following month and I had to go through a lot just to prove I moved out to get my refund which I did and received my refund after a week. And yet again she fail to do her job once move and left me in her system again and they debit my account the following month as well when I called to have them refund my money and remove me from their system she spoke to me as if I was bothering her and even told me not to call there again as if she did not care I was over charged once again. I am stilling waiting on that refund as of today. I will never use your company again and have made it clear to all my social media followers that if they want good service any other company is better than yours. I know I have personally help 5 of my friends find other companies so they could move their belongings from Uhaul to a better company. I always have a lot of friends and business associates in the property management world who I have expressed my concerns with regarding your company and with your prices increasing and never being the better price in the first place they have also decided to discontinue referring clients to Uhaul. I hope this feedback helps make major changes to your company so that one day you can once again be seen as a class A storage facility.
