TRAVIS SFirst off, the attendant that helped me seemed annoyed he had to get off his phone to assist me when I came to pick up the truck; I then had to maneuver the truck from behind the building in order to get out, I extended my rental due to multiple reasons....the trucks brakes locked up 3 different times randomly while driving, rattling noises from the wheels and undercarriage while driving, vehicle wouldn't accelerate past 45mph. Was not pleased with the unsafe vehicle but we were on a crunched time-line and had to make due. Upon returning the truck to the site I informed the Rep of the issues and all I received in return was "I'm sorry about that, a receipt will be emailed to you with the updated amounts"....really??!! After I told him I was unpleased with the vehicle??!! I would like someone to contact me for a partial refund on my rental having to deal with terrible maintained equipment and rude customer service.
BRIAN CCustomer service was poor. Mileage to my location was incorrect however they would not change it. Had to walk a long ways to find the truck instead of them pulling it up for you
HEATHER RAdvertising a truck for $19 a day but ending up paying $130 for a day was a bit excessive, only drove 65 miles, but had to pay $1.30 mile on top of the rental charge was very excessive
GARY Ncalling me everyday for a payment, even after returning a call and informing them of what day I would make a payment.... was annoying. the lack of 24hour access was inconvenient for me. Otherwise, this particular facility is great.

JUDY BIt was a good experience and staff were helpful and nice however way to expensive. Over $200 for two days of having a uhaul pick up truck. I will not be using uhaul again after getting this reciept. It used to be affordable and that is the motto "19.99 per day" complete lie.

CORANETTA FThe only issue was I was told that on a one-way rental I would get reimbursed if I turned the equipment in a day early. I guess that is not the policy of U-Haul. The gentleman that helped me did not know the policies of U-Haul. I hustled to get the equipment back as soon as I could to not me charged the extra day. It's not the end of the world but very frustrating when you are told one thing, but the policy is another.

TODD CRe: Pick-up location at Jacksonville, NC for scheduled 10ft box truck, plus double-axle vehicle transporter trailer. Tech Matthew, person who gave me the contract copy, advised that the price would be higher since a 15 ft box truck would be needed for this double-axle transport trailer at a higher dollar rate (So why did the U-Haul customer computer OK a10ft truck on its reservation system for the vehicle which I wanted to tow, a GMC Safari ?) Tech Matthew did check over lights, signal and brake lamps on 15 ft box truck as well as double-axle trailer; he found a suspected kink in wire connection which he replaced. Only small flaw: my copy of contract was reduced to fit a single page. For someone who does not favor transfer of contract information by text, I accepted the single sheet. In future, I will ask for a print size more easily read. At Charlotte, NC, having awoke early and acquired rental truck with trailer, picked up towed vehicle late morning, got underway southward by noon.
MICHAEL SI was charged without my permission and I put gas back in the truck and I was told I didn’t. I will not rent from them again as far as a truck
LATOSHA DI was told at 855am on the day of pick up that the truck ordered 3 weeks ago wasn't available at the prescribed location. The employee told me I should have received a text message which I received enroute to the wrong location. The employee was nice and helpful, but the communication piece wasn't the best and threw off my timeliness on other scheduled events I had that day.

george p | First ImpressionsWhen I made reservation I was told that I could pickup my truck and car transport trailer after hours. I drove an hour to find out that I could not pick it up. I had to drive an hour back to my house only to drive an hour back in the morning to pick it up. No offer of discount or anything. I rent a lot of truck and this was a very bad and expensive rental. Your staff should be better trained in this and the truck was very dirty inside.

He was helpful and considerate; I informed him that I would be arriving after hours and he explained exactly what needed to be done in order to appropriately turn in and close out my reservation. Mark HHave towed trailers before, first time for U-Haul. Were very surprised trailers do not come with the standard sway bar tongue. Not having a sway bar made it very difficult for backing up a long distance. Although the trailer towed fine, I probably will not use U-Haul again unless the trailer has the sway bar set up.

NASHEL CEnsure vehicles are clean and check the gas tank rather than rely on technology or other means- our rental had 2 opened and empty soda cans when we got in. We were also told our vehicle had 3/4 tank of gas and we’d be charged over $4.00/gallon if we returned it less than the 3/4 full, but our vehicle in fact only had 1/2 a tank when we first got it and ended up returning it with 3/4 left (we provided UHaul photos and video, including the time, for proof); however, entire staff was kind, understanding, and willing to do the necessary process to reimburse us, but they were pretty slow all around with just one person ahead of us during the return, and it just wasn’t worth the hassle so we just dropped it off after our scheduled rental time and left.

DIANE SI got charged $60 for not refilling the 1/16 tank of gas i used while driving the truck 15 miles. This is a rip off. The recipe said it went from 1/4 a tank to 1/8 a tank in the 15 miles i drove the truck. The U-Haul has a 40 gallon fuel tank and gets approx 10mpg, so theoretically i would have used 1.5 gallons driving 15 miles, at most 2 gallons, they put they refilled it 6 gallons. 1/8 of a 40 gallon tank is 3.2 gallons. Where did this 6 gallons come from to refill it to the 1/4 i received it at? This is extremely shady and blatantly false. I’ve used U-Haul to move multiple families but i will not be using this company again.
Jacob MWhen I first got the storage unit, it took over 4 hours to gain access to the building. The employee didn't seem to know the niche things to do with the card reader. You have to SLOWLY slide your card through and you have to use both card readers. I was never told any of that. I had to wait for the GM to arrive hours later to find any of this out.

I was charged double and had to contact U-Haul for a refund but was never refunded the wrong location fee. I will avoid U-Haul at all costs for every other move I make.

TOM WFacility is fine and the price is good. I still can't help but feel my 10' x 10' x 8' unit is 10' deep and 10' tall not wide. That's kind of misleading as i needed the width more than height and now everything is stacked a lot taller than I really wanted. Still, it all fit and the people were friendly and helpful.

FRED BThe computer system they use is extremely slow. It took forever to check in. Also, the card reader for the locker units is very touchy. I waited for over 3 hours before anyone was able to figure out that you basically had to slowly drag the card through the slot for it to work. I tried swiping as well as one of the employees. Neither of us could figure out what was wrong. The GM had to drop by the store just to say go slower when that could have been said over the phone hours ago to the employee. Because the employee didn't seem to know and the GM did, I feel as though this was a lack of communication on the GM's end.
KATIE WMy truck was not able to picked up at 6 as promised. No one left me a 10 feet truck. Had a hard time and ended up having to leave and come back at 7 to deal with a person, got my day off to a bad start. Your 24 hour ez check in is an awful service. Do not recommend.

Angela T | Overall ExperienceThe driveway area and roll up door could use a revamp but this is in NO WAY A KNOCK AGAINST THE STAFF OR THE INSIDE OF THE FACILITY. It had rained a lot and a bit of water seeped under the door. The manager, Tanika, was very helpful and accommodating with my rental. The cleaning lady was very kind and offered a water as I was unloading and a separate worker offered to help me unload the truck. Top notch people.

I have MS and a clotting disorder, had a stroke. Regardless. We need to get as close to unit as possible for walking. We asked employee if a car could be moved so we could back straight in....she said it was HER CAR, AND WHAT DID WE WANT THE WHOLE PLACE MOVED FOR US??? They had to move tagalongs they parked in front of our unit, like they did most of the time. So we passed her off that they had to move something. I shouldn't have to tell we were disabled. Her yelling outside was uncalled for. We actually aren't moving til 8/29 but got our stuff out of there. We will use another company to move in August. I've never been so disrespected in my life. Uhaul was my go to. PS I have a picture of the employees car

christian r | First ImpressionsBethany Romans claimed a glitch in the system moved me out of my brand new unit that she gave May 27th 2021 and my original unit 1375, which is why I wasn’t getting rent due notices for unit 1386. She did not know where my things were so for two months I was dealing with the idea that uhaul lost, stole, or sold my things. Someone else’s name was put onto my unit yet no payments were made. Ridiculous! I was lucky I took pictures and documented everything to prove it was my things in the unit. As Bethany was fixing HER mistake I and my emergency contact started to receive nasty threatening late notices. I also received an absolutely devastating and threatening lien and sale notice that sent me into a panic attack. I am a rape and abusive victim, my children dealt with abuse as well from their father. We were literally running away from him and trusting uhaul to house our things during this incredibly difficult time. Instead uhaul made me experience anxiety, stress, fear, and panic. I had to drop all of my life and plans and a lot of money, to spontaneously drive from Michigan to North Carolina to retrieve my things as I did not feel they were safe any longer. When I arrived I was able to use the new keys Bethany fedex to me to unlock one lock. But there was a second lock with black tape on it, essentially uhaul holding my things hostage. I had to inform the staff yet again of the situation but they could not find the keys to that lock and had to manually remove the entire lock mechanism from the unit door. So that I could take my things. I absolutely refused to pay anything more and had to say I will call the cops or fire department to cut the lock off. All of this took even more time out of the important things I had to and while there I was shaking in fear that my ex abusive husband would show up and get me. Also during the two months my things were missing uhaul was absolutely impossible to get a hold of. I could never get the actual store on the phone and wait times were hours long. The whole company is a joke and we, my friends family and anyone that will listen to me, will never use them again. Call me, Grace, 5178972146 for more explanation and to hear the devastating impact this experience has had on my life. I believe Bethany Romans should be fired for her incompetence in this situation. I am discussing a law suit with my lawyer.

They did not have the storage unit I reserved, so they said they would give me a larger unit for a discounted price, then told me I could not get 30 days free because they cant discount a unit and provide 30 days free and gave me a hard time. So now I have to pay full price to get 30 days free, I'm very unhappy happy with uhaul storage, and feel I should get it discounted and 30 days free.

I did get incorrect information, was told I would get a month free when asking about the prices and when I came back to rent was told that was only for one way rentals. The sales person also rented me a van for the day and so knew I was not a one-way rental. It would have been good to have been given a discount bc if this mistake since it factored into me choosing to use the storage. Also was not told that I could only access storage unit during business hours. I found this out when I was there selling something from the unit and the employee came to tell me they were closing and I would not have access. This would have been useful to know up front. Maybe the employee was new and did not know?
