I was looking for a clean, climate controlled storage solution, and U-Haul fit those criteria within my proximity and the price is very fair for what you get. The added insurance was really nice. And the place is well lit and I have 24hr access. 5*

Tires worn down to the tread wear indicator, shared my concerns with the employee and was told “That’s what I have.” The trailer sounded like the wheel bearing were grinding as well. Thankfully we had a safe trip with some sketchy and poorly maintained equipment. When traveling 2000 miles there should be an expectation of renting well maintained equipment.

I think U-Haul is excellent and not only that you can save major bucks by using them as opposed to paying for a moving company. The rates were decent and offering the first month of storage for free was just an added bonus!

Trailer had no running lights. None! When Charles realized that I was told that he’d fix it when it got back. He thought it was just a bulb. The bulb being out kills the running lights when hooked to a 2025 Ram. I was pulled over for it. Door was difficult to open. No dome light inside of trailer. Overall I feel like I was over charged for what I received. I’ll need to rent a moving truck mid summer and I’ll likely rent from Penske. The person that disconnected it at drop off was short with me when I brought up the light issue and was somewhat rude. No solution or resolution was offered.

Told me price of $19.95 for 15' truck because he left the keys to a 10' truck at his house but invoice charge was for $29.95 - then I filled the truck up to the level that I got it at ( I only went 43 miles and didn't leave truck running or anything - I put over 3 gals of gas in then when I turned truck in they charged me 4 gals to fill up more - explain to me how your truck goes 43 miles and needs over 7 gals of gas to replenish it???? I believe I got screwed!!! If your truck is only getting 6 miles per gal you need to fix and let public know !!!

Both places I picked up and dropped off were the 2 best U-Haul facilities I have ever used. 100 will recommend. The drop off facility had amazing staff, and so did the pick up.

When the gauge was well below the full mark and then charginging $4.75 per gallon for gas that sells for $3.00 at the station on the oppposite corner location from your facility is a little tough to swallow given I had already added $5.00 worth on my own.

Airbag light on when I picked up the truck / stabilitrac light on and went into low speed ABS activation.. terrible pulsation in steering wheel when braking. Im not sure who does the maintenance on these vehicles but I'd find someone else.

Felt the staff was very unfriendly and unhelpful. Charging 20 dollars for a late fee after a couple of days is ridiculous when things are hard enough for people out here. Communicating with staff about your situation does nothing and being so unwilling to work with people is exactly why id never recommend or come back. Not to mention, the multiple dead bugs, we believe to be roaches, in this “secure” environment that we found in our stuff and in the storage unit itself. Floors are always dirty, have had multiple areas that were sticky. I will not contact anyone from this facility to resolve any sort of dispute because contacting this facility to simply discuss your situation and try to get someone to hear you and work with you when you’re trying your best is for nothing. 0/10, don’t recommend and will make sure none of my friends or family subject themselves to the same thing.

I use U-Haul moving and storage of Pekin for monthly storage and have never had an issue. This specific instance working with Uhaul however I had multiple issues. I booked a truck online for 830am for self service pick up, when I got to the location I was informed the facility didnt open until 9 so I was unable to get my truck. At 9am I went back to pick up my truck, the truck was not ready and did not have any of my rented equipment ready. Even the dolly I rented was "out of stock", which was incredibly frustrating given I had made the reservation over a month in advance. When I was given the keys to the truck the employee mentioned the truck would be out front. I went out front and tried the key didn't work in any of the trucks, when I asked the employee he said "oh it must be one of the ones back there". I then had to walk as a customer to the complete other side of the parking lot in the rain to inspect my truck that at this point was over 45 minutes passed the reservation time. When I asked if anyone could bring it toward the front I was met with "I don't know where my other guy is". As I was moving I was VERY upset to find that my wooden furniture had gotten very wet in the truck, the whole truck was leaking. When I returned the truck the employee informed me "sorry I realized I gave you the truck with a duct taped roof", on a rain day. I'll still gladly maintain my monthly storage at this facility but there is no chance I would ever recommend this location to rent any sort of equipment.

Staff were never in office. Moved out due to not trusting my belongings there anymore after a call I received asking if I moved all my stuff out earlier this month. I said no that I did NOT move out that I just paid my bill.( which has been on auto pay since I got it a year ago and never missed a payment) She ended up calling me back and said they did an auction and somehow I ended up on the list. She said my lock was there and nothing happened and that she now had to double check all the units. Still made me not trust leaving my stuff there. So I found someone to store temporarily and moved out before I got charged another month. Also upon moving out I noticed that I was paying $30 more than listed price.

There was a few things they marked that wasn’t on the checklist they already had. Heater knob didn’t work so I was freezing when I picked it up. I believe if we don’t put the gas in, then charging us full price is a given. I had a truck for a little over 2 hrs, drove less 40 miles and I had to pay just under $70.

One office person had to do everything including leaving the office unattended and walk to the other side of the parking lot to hook my trailer up to my truck. You’re truly counting on the honesty of the customers left in the store unattended

I scheduled the reservation two Saturdays ago. I had to make numerous calls to the location since the parts were not readily available to do the installation on the originally scheduled date. After numerous conversations with staff, it was determined that I would arrive on Sunday, 9/22/24 for the installation. Upon arrival, the part / wiring was not at the Pekin location. The staff member had to drive to another location in Peoria to pick up the wiring / part to complete the installation. Poor communication / coordination in the scheduling of the hitch installation. Even when the general manager said he would call me back, he never did. I had to make numerous calls to the office to make the installation happen. I am glad to have the hitch installed at this point, but the customer service was subpar. If I am in need of another hitch installation, I will not be taking my vehicle to this location.

I had got a free month for renting a truck...yes I was a couple months behind...I got a text saying they will give me my unit back for $100 but I did not get the text tel I got my phone but when I got back from out of town and before the day they said it was due ...the locks were off and it was cleaned out....so someone broke in the unit and took my stuff...

Had to look for the person at location to drop off my keys. He actually did a walk through when I returned the truck and he was the one that informed me that I would not be getting a refund for returning the truck early unlike when I picked up the truck. When I told the gentleman the check engine was on when I picked up the truck he stated that was normal.

I have rented several times from this particular location and the staff here is top notch! They are very helpful, friendly and go above and beyond to make sure you are happy with your rental. I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking to rent equipment. Also every time I’ve rented I’ve never experienced any issues with their rentals (trailers/trucks).

Upon emptying out my truck, I kept setting off the alarm. Being I was unaware of the timing of relogging in, I had stayed in the bay with the truck as not to set off the alarms again until they opened. The mgr arrived video me alseep in the truck however, he continues to claim I was in the unit and I was not. As I was trying to turn the truck in that morning, the manager refused to listen to me and forced me to leave the premises. at the same point he automatically limited my hours and access to office hours only. Three issues: 1) I rented the unit several months before I moved as I believing in being ahead of the game. After renting the truck from UHaul, I received an email for a free months rental of a storage unit. I went into the office to arrange a free month and was told that was only for new rentals. SO irritating!!! 2) Several times there was no hand soap in the bathroom, yuck!! 3) The floors in the isles could be cleaner. A ride along machine could rotate between all of the facilities in the area to keep costs lower. Thank you, Amy Rodgers

When I attempted to pick up 1/13 my mobile pick up was not taking my debit card. I went inside for over 20 minutes in freezing temperatures and waited with my children. There were cameras showing a gentlemen working on a truck, I am unsure where, otherwise I saw no other employees. Tried to cancel but it says my contract was already pending. Went home and called back, but got no answer. The next day I got a call to reschedule and was told next time there would be a deposit required to schedule. Fast forward to day of pickup, and it was during my work day. Could not take my debit card from my phone without physically seeing it but said I could pay cash, and then when I came back a new gentlemen did not want cash but would take my mobile card from my phone. It was the same card as Saturday, unsure why it would not take mobile but would in store. Went to clear my U-haul storage and there was nothing by compacted ice the U-Haul was sliding on, and then my children trying to help load the U-Haul. My storage was frozen shut, my lock was frozen, so by the time I got equipment to thaw and load it had taken me into snowing weather, so I parked until morning. In which I called right at 7, and the gentlemen was so rude. I had 2 pending charges all equaling out to 248. The gentlemen said since I did not have it back by 10pm he charged me twice, and I pointed out my original charge was incorrect. Without reviewing he stated it was not, it was probably the 2 days and my storage. That I had to have it cleared the day before my due date not the day of otherwise I would be charged. Then later called and left a voicemail that my storage was passed due, without noticing he spoke with me not even an hour before… absolutely rude, disfunctional, and bad service. I had zero problems with the east Peoria location, and the only person who provided good service was the lady who checked my truck in was so kind and talked to be with my concerns and told me the only charge that should stick was my total of the two days at 101. Otherwise I would of been twice as upset by the whole experience. Grateful for her! The rest of the staff and company… not so much. This is my last truck rental and storage with U-Haul.

I have used many storage units over the past few years. These units have been the cleanest and easiest to move into that I have ever seen. My only criticism is the number of terminals used to enter the building.. the keypads need to either be numbered, or have one keypad to check in and unlock the door.

Friendly staff and convenient location along with clean, well lit facility, including the restrooms! Remarkable experience at a secure location. We used the facility for 1.5 years until we found a home. We never worried about our belongings. I only wish the truck and trailer we rented were available there instead of 25 miles away. The gentleman who assisted us was very kind and helpful. You would have never thought that Kmart had previously been located here. Building was very clean. I was very impressed by seeing the area where you can place items that you don’t need anymore but maybe someone else can. Only thing I witnessed was as we were moving items into the storage unit another employee entered a company rental pickup truck he peeled out at the beginning leaving tire marks and sped around the parking lot at a high rate of speed eventually parking the truck. Glad no customers were in the parking lot.

A very nice and surprisingly secure place! Took a second to get a grasp on the card system, but it seems to work well. I'm pleasantly surprised to see that the card grants you access to YOUR specific unit, and that makes me feel good about keeping my possessions at this location. The employees there are all nice as can be too!

Rented a cargo van to move some things from our garage to storage, check in process was smooth, no problems. Was told the van would be rented to us for 24 hours, didn’t think much of it. We got done around 7:30pm or so, took the van back home figured I’d just return in AM after I woke up. 7am comes around, I have U-HAUL calling me saying if the truck isn’t back by 9am they would be charging me 50$ plus other fees, she doesn’t hear back from me, and then proceeded to come to my house at 7:30am and ring my doorbell, asking why we haven’t returned the truck. My fiancé then takes the truck back, and I call U-HAUL back around 9am asking what went on, Janelle wasn’t the most pleasant to deal with, even after explaining that the van was 24 HRS, she could care less. Overall my experience with U-HAUL was a complete nightmare.

The manager at this location lied and said I was living in the unit and I put poop all over the bathroom. One of her employees later told me there was no pictures that she lied. I called corporate about this and nothing was done at all. I lost all my belongings due to this woman's lie! Literally lost everything I owned because she felt the need to come and make false allegations at me. She yelled at me lying about the rules and kept going for 45 minutes. It was crazy. I will never get a unit from you again

While the move in experience was perfect, trying to reserve the unit on your website was a nightmare. I spent several hours online and on the phone before someone told me it only works on Chrome or Firefox. Really needs improvement!

This building and staff at Pekin, IL is outstanding! I currently have two 10×10, and one 10×5 units. The lady who cleans is so nice and does a fabulous job. The general manager is very nice. The gentlemen that have helped me are knowledgeable and accommodating. Everyone I've encountered is eager to go the extra mile to help me.

Ms. McMillan was very helpful,explained everything and answered all my questions. The facility is very clean. The only negative had nothing to do with the staff or facility. The lock I purchased through U Haul is effectively unusable. I could not insert the key all the way, and had to remove it with pliers. One of the staff was very helpful, sprayed some lubricant into the lock and was able to force the key in and unlock it, but we still had to remove the key with pliers. I finally bought a Brinks lock at Menards.

I would not recommend anyone rent from the PEKIN UHAUL. A reasonalbe person would think ,If the operating hours start at 5:00 AM,that you should be able to access you rented unit. The storage girl kristy,had some kind of problem,with me being at my storage unit during regular business hours. She couldn't act professional,so she had her hired help do her job.

The online storage option was not clear i rented the largest truck and needed more and was offered a tiny storage which i diidnt realize the prices are astronomical when traded the small for largest one what the largest truck held way more then the storage could handled

Only small inconvenience we ran into was there was only 1 service dolly but 2 mattress dollys. This wasn't that big of a deal but others might feel like it is. 1 dolly for potentially 4 loading bays. Can't complain about a free service you do provide. Other than that, my check in was easy. Facility was clean as you could ask for.. Charles at the front counter was very personable!

Our experience with the Pekin, Illinois Uhaul, both with storing our belongings after selling our home and then with renting a truck & car carrier after buying our new home in Florida, was WONDERFUL!! Staff was extremely helpful and the storage facilities couldn't have been better. The Uhaul truck rented to us was clean as well. I'd definitely recommend the Pekin, Illinois Uhaul facility and estimate we saved at least $10,000 by using Uhaul versus any of the commercial movers we contacted for pricing for our Illinois to Florida move. Their storage facilities are also extremely well priced with absolutely no hidden charges. Thank you to the Pekin Uhaul staff for helping us throughout the entire process.

My big complaint is that parking lot was not shoveled well. I arrived to start my storage rental in morning after a snow storm night before. Parking lot was not shoveled yet and driving to building was difficult; i got stuck a couple times. I decided to wait until parking lot was shoveled to move my belongings but the shoveling did not occur until 3 pm (at least thats when I received phone call from Uhaul that shoveling was done). Even after the shoveling it was still not done well as only paths were shoveled not entire parking lot and again next day was stuck in snow worse than the first day; eventually got free and realized I MUST stay in the shoveled areas which were hard to distinguish as all pavement was white. I realize you can’t control the weather but you can control make a better effort to address the snow.

Can't recall her name, but young lady at customer service is excellent. Helped me on several occasions. When purchasing moving supplies, returning unused supplies, reserving storage, and obtaining storage; always excellent attention to service. She is a top notch employee.

When I got to the facility there was no record of the reservation I had made. The room size I wanted was not available. Had to get a bigger room than needed. Person who showed us to the locker was not wearing a mask. Otherwise, facility was very neat and clean. Locker looks like we were the first one to use it.

When I needed a storage unit. I didn't know where to go. Then I saw that U-haul had opened this new facility in Pekin. I was extremely impressed with their storage rooms, the price, the ease and convenience of going in and out whenever I needed to drop off or pick up items. I absolutely loved the garage doors that automatically opened and you can pull inside to load and unload! That was wonderful! The bathroom area and the area with the complimentary carts to use always looked and smelled clean. It was well lit and easy to enter and exit. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Thank you very much!
