JOHN FRutland was great however my experience with uhaul was awful. I showed up 10 minutes early to my original booking at the Black River location in Vermont. I was told the person on site who gives out the equipment was not there. I waited for 53 minutes before he arrived just to tell me they did not have the equipment I rented for. So back and forth on the phone with the Rutland location until I was told I could change my reservation there. I then had to drive an hour and 10 minutes across the state to pick up the truck and trailer. Because of all of this the people I had helping me move could no longer assist me and I had to do it alby myself. I had people waiting to assist and they could no longer wait because of a 3 hour difference. This changed my whole entire day around because of a stupid error that could have just been a phone call and no waisted time. This was handled horribly by Black River and uhaul but thankfully uhaul Rutland was amazing. The older gentleman at the desk was very helpful in answering all my questions and providing the equipment in a timely manner and making sure I understand the contract completely. This experience has completely turned me off of using your company again. Almost $400 to not have anything in place to provide customers with what was reserved and to not tell them until day of and an hour after the reservation is a horrible business practice. Do not use Black River if you have to use uhaul. Try out Ryder.

MICHAEL JThis was my second time renting from U-Haul. IF it had been my first, I probably would not use them again. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The U-Haul 10' truck I rented was very clean. But, when I started the truck.... it was LOUD and rumbled like it had no exhaust. Then, when driving it.... I'm glad I didn't have to take it very far that day. It ran rough and shifted rough. I was like "OMG!!". The ONLY positive thing in driving it, considering it ran so bad, oddly it was good on gas. When returning the truck, I was asked if there was any problems. When I told him, he told me that THAT particular truck "should have not been sent out". HE never that there was problems with that particular truck. (He was not the one that rented it to me) (Nothing against the guy that did. Maybe he knew, maybe he didn't.) Either way, the guy that I talked to when I returned it, was NOT happy himself that THAT truck had been given to me and apologized. Again, if THIS had been my first time renting... I "might not" be so trustworthy for a next time.
ROSE LStaff were friendly courteous and helpful. The check in process seemed a bit slow and lengthy on the computer (not in their control). Check out process was quick however needed a follow up call as it was not actually checked in on the computer (verbal only by the staff, who in his defense was very busy). Equipment was well maintained and trailer hook up was totally completed by the helpful staff.

William MThis location was excellent and very considerate of my personal needs to use the trailer once we arrived in Vermont. My contract said I must return the trailer by something like 0815 on Saturday morning. We got to Vermont on Thursday evening and I stopped into this location to discuss if there was any flexibility to this time as it may have proved to be a burden since we needed to use it also on Friday to transport a mattress purchase in Rutland on Friday. Getting the trailer back early on Saturday may have complications and I didn't want unnecessary late charges. The man I talked with was very understanding. He checked if there was another contract on the trailer pending and then we agreed that if the trailer was back by 10am Saturday morning, all would be fine. I returned it by 0915 Saturday morning (I think) to a different man and he too was very helpful and understood the situation for the change in return time! I was very satisfied with my entire experience with renting this 5X8 enclosed trailer!

ELIZABETH BDifficult to reach via phone. When returned, I was told they would email me a copy of my receipt….have not received it almost 24 hrs later. When I reached an employee at this location this morning, he said he’d send the receipt in “5 minutes”….I have not received it yet! Only this survey.
SUSAN SThe truck had a tpms problem so I could not read odometer. The struck steering made noises when turning. The truck ran crappy IMO. This location was courteous when I called and asked to rent it another day. However on the last day before returning it somehow it got checked in as return when it had not. And an almost $700 charge on my credit card for a local move. Called them no answer multiple times. So it went through to corporate and corporate couldn't get ahold of them either. When I finally return it meant the employee outside and he took the keys and said I don't have to do anything as it was already checked in. So I called corporate to let them know I checked it back in. The guy that took the keys had heard nothing about the mix up. He was the same guy as when I picked up. I still have now 4 charges pending on my credit card for almost $900 for a $188 actually cost. There is something fishy going on at that location.

brent h | First ImpressionsTrailer was old and well used. Inside was clean and in good shape but outside needed to be repainted. Tires, hitch and wiring all were in good condition. Sliding rear gate did not open well, needed to be greased. The facility was great and also the people, friendly and helpful.
EDWARD DMileage ended up being ridiculous mostly because of how far I had take truck from rental location and I couldn't drop off at closest location which is ridiculous also. Ended up costing an obscene amount, never again.
Jessica D3 different lights were on indicating issues with the vehicle. Had my fingers crossed the whole time hoping it didn't break down.
LORI LEverything was fine and the uhaul rep was going over the trailer taking pictures and making sure everything worked. He told us that there was a brake light out, but that it was fine. We asked him to make note of it so that when we returned it to another location, it would not be a question of our negligence. When we got to our location to start packing and opened the trailer there was a bundle of old wires balled up in the back. Clearly it was the wires of the lights that didn't work. We then tested the lights for ourselves and neither of the lower lights on the trailer worked, only the uppers.. There were no notes made on our account, in fact the uhaul rep that had helped us was in his truck and left the lot before we pulled out of the lot. When we returned the trailer in Lebanon, we explained what happened and the rep there was very understanding.

The locks you must use should go through both holes not just one. A battery powered light on ceiling would be helpful.

I have always made my payments, the whole 9 yards. When I went to go and get my Christmas tree and decorations, I opened the unit and started seeing mice traps placed all over uhaul and no one ever called or informed me of a rat or mice infestation. When I opened the bin that was in my unit, my white tree was yellow and the tree as well as the bin was filled with mice feces, urine and a load of rice! Same wit my decorations box. When I called the Rutland uhaul to notify them the manager was so RUDE!! saying I was making this stuff up and so on! So I stopped paying my bills hoping to get someone's attention, only attention given was if u want to abandon the unit or auction! I told higher up about the incident they were jus concerned about money they didn't care about MY hard earned money paying for the unit as well as MY personal belongings inside! Paying HUNDREDS of dollars a month you expect your items not to be completely ruined! I paid off both accounts and have moved out of the large unit, coming back to do the same wit the smaller one. The manager of rutland uhaul is the biggest joke I've ever did business with! I will not talk to him or do any other business with uhaul. Which is really sad cuz I have rented with you guys multiple times and have multiple units! I also have many family and friends that do business as well. We will be taking our business elsewhere, with a company in Mendon. I'm glad to be cutting ties! The one thing i will say is the Travelimg Manager, I believe his name is Peter, from NY, that man was a gentleman, helping any way he could! He went out of his way , above and beyond to help me get everything situated to move out all my belongings. I even told him about the manager and he let me know that multiple customers complain about him! Don't you think you guys should do something? I will be reaching out to my lawyer in regards to all my damaged property. If a supervisor could reach out it would be appreciated. Thanks Candace Covell (802) 353-7816

The interface within UHaul obviously very poor. We should not be getting "late fees" and "late bills". We did all as planned/requested. Please stop forwarding me bills and additional charges. OK, then I rented a cargo van to transport my stuff to new house (moved from Cleveland to Vermont) and when I rented the van, I got emails promoting a free month of storage with my truck rental. That seemed backwards to me, having gotten the units first and not told about the deal? Also, I paid for a portion of August as I moved in the third week, then the entire month of September, but I emptied the units on 9/12. DO I GET A REFUND on the rest of the month? The lovely people at the store said they were booked and so happy I was opening up units for other customers. HELLO. I paid more in the first place because the one 10x10 unit I needed was rented out from under me. Then I did not occupy for the full term. Please advise. The insurance company that is over my claim is taking forever to keep in touch with me and re-issue my money back for the stuff that was thrown away. I would not recommend using U-Haul ever again it was the worst Experience. When I got there to try to clean out my storage unit I had trouble with the lock politely went in there and ask for help and was told they are not allowed to help me I said to the lady I’m trying to clean out my unit I need help the lock will not open her boss said we have to call locksmith I said no you do not I have a code I will not open was very disrespectful going back-and-forth with me the Lady was just trying to help but her boss was very rude and disrespectful I would not recommend them ever again to anybody. The customer service just to get to the main location takes hours of waiting just to sit here and talk about something that Customer can’t help u with.And customer service tells you to go to the location if you do not have a car how are you going to get to the Flippin location does not make sense.

Even though Jeffrey did not follow the plan Danielle and I had made, Danielle was able to make everything work for our needs. She was amazing on the phone giving me options of not having to unpack a uhaul after being on the road for 3 days and with a broken foot. This lady is a true godsend!! Couldn't find a better person to help with your customers. Give her the utmost rating 10 out of 5. She goes way beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. We have a heated unit, but it doesn't do any good if you can't get inside to your things. I think they should have not Rented that unit out until it was cleaned the black spot on the floor was really a disappointment. I am kind of iffy if I would recommend this to someone else. Because like I said the storage had A black spot. To even open the storage unit was very hard. I had to physically go get the manager to show me how to open it. They should give you directions in the handbook to show me how to open the storage units.And others to know how do use the unit and close the unit.
