Vehicle was clean and well maintained...except for the tires. It was snowing the day I rented and I the truck fish-tailed all over. Tires not good. Also, New guy in training was great, but Trainer woman both at pick up and drop off the next day did not seem very happy :0(

On January 19, 2018, I rented a U-Haul van in Rutland, VT to travel to NH. This was the first time I have used U-Haul. I was told that the van was full of gas and had just been filled. Papers were thrust upon me to sign along with a litany of instructions...very quickly. A gentleman walked me to the van and asked if everything was okay. I responded that everything looked good. I drove out of the lot approximately a mile and a half and glanced at the gas gauge. It was a little over three-quarters full, which shocked me as I was told it was full. Immediately, I called U-Haul to let them know and asked if they would like me to drive back so they could register the discrepancy. The manager answered the phone and said it was too late. When I returned the van, I filled it with the same amount of gas as when I rented the vehicle. Try as I may, the manager would not veer from her position and charged me an additional $59.74. I feel scammed. This is an unethical business practice. I take people at face value. Why would they tell me it was full when it wasn't? I am not in a financial position to be robbed of my hard earned money. Shae on you! To add salt to my wound, the corporate offices turned a blind eye to my complaints. Says a lot about a company.

Despite reserving online and doing the express check-in ahead of time, when I went to pick up the truck I spent probably close to 30 minutes with the person behind the counter running my credit card multiple times because the computer system was not working. The truck only had a half a tank of gas which is just really annoying because my reservation clearly said that I had a long drive with it. The supplies that I had ordered were not pulled off the shelves and that had to be done after I had already spent the 30 minutes with the employee trying to run my card. When I dropped off there was nobody in the shop. I stood in the shop for 5 to 10 minutes, called into the back room, and then went outside and looked around in the parking lot. I went back in to check one last time before putting the key in the outside drop box (though it was only 4:15 p.m. on a Sunday) and found two women in the store. Neither one of them were employees of UHaul (despite being unattended in the shop) and they had to text the employee to come in for my return . He took my key and said it would be settled up and charged to the card on file. Though I returned it Sunday afternoon before 5 PM, I didn’t get a receipt by email til today. Today’s receipt indicated that I had been charged over 100 additional dollars. Turns out I’ve been charged for not returning a second dolly despite returning the only dolly I received. Overall, will choose another rental location in future as I paid close to $500 for a truck, dolly, and furniture pads for roughly 47 hours and 188 miles...

Customer service! Crystal "store manager" was not helpful in resolving my issues. The truck tires were not able to go up the slightest incline! therefor I could not use the vehicle. I returned and filled gas and was told "well, you rented it and drove off the lot! there is nothing I can do!" Her attitude was NOT PROFESSIONAL AND WELL BELOW CARING FOR THE CUSTOMER! I called corporate offife and waiting for remainder of refund! Hopefully they will refund! It is the RIGHT thing to do!

My experience was awful. I showed up to get my rental, then realized the truck had not been cleaned off at all and was covered in snow, the parking lot was not plowed. After treading through 2 feet of snow to get to the truck it was then stuck and was a pain to get out. I made it to the first location where we were moving from, only to find the back door frozen solid and the ramp not functioning. Worst $130 I've ever spent and I do a lot of business with uhaul through my corporate account. I will be changing and cancelling all of my current business that I had been giving them.

This truck had bald tries and got rented to us anyways. When the truck got stuck in the snow storm, we where stuck with a $400 towing bill. When I called 1800-go-uhaul they told me I could have rented chains. I was never told this in all of my years renting trucks. Also, 1800gouhaul was no help and blamed there faulty equipment on me.

Both pickup and receiving stores were wonderful, and I want to be sure that they are recognized for making a pleasant experience given that U-Haul scheduling gave me a horrible start to my move. I am glad that the local management still believes in superior customer service while U-Haul corporate tried to make my experience as difficult as possible. Your stores (Gouin's and Rutland) saved you U-Haul. If not for them, this rating would be in the cellar.

Salesman neglected to tell me that a change in drop off location would result in a fee between $150-$300. Initially I chose my drop off location to be Saratoga, NY. He asked if I wanted to change locations and save a significant amount of money. I agreed to this. Due to weather I decided to try to drop the U-Haul off at the Saratoga location. When I spoke with the Saratoga office I was told there would be a $150 charge to change location, unless I called my original drop off location, the fee would be waived then. I called the Cohoes office and was told there would be a $300 relocation fee. I dropped the U-Haul off in Cohoes. If I had been told about the large fee if I changed locations I would have stayed with my original plan to drop off in Saratoga.

Customer service was super helpful and very nice. Unfortunately we had to return one trailer that had a greasy floor and then the replacement had drilled holes in the floor. It was tough to keep replacing until we found one that would work.
