I had a trailer reserved at the U-Haul Neighborhood dealer at 1200 N Cliff in Sioux Falls, SD but when I got there to pick it up they didn't have one. After spending some time there while they were on the phone they sent me to another Neighborhood dealer at 1101 Enterprise Ave in Sioux Falls SD. This location had one but after getting hooked up and driving away the trailer was bouncing down the road. I turned around and went back to find out the tires on the trailer were defective. This was the only unit they had and they said they would refund my card which hasn't happen yet. Finally I thought I would take a chance and go to the U-Haul Moving and Storage at 923 West 11th Street in Sioux Falls and sure enough they had one considerably larger but I was in a hurry to leave town and took it. I hope I get the refund for the first rental that didn't work out or I may have to resort to further action.

Daniel GThe specific location was great to work with. However U-haul as a company is terrible. The last three times I’ve used them they switch the pick up location at last minute. This last time they sent me to a place that wasn’t even open for business!! I tried calling corporate three times and they dropped my call each time without resolving my issue. I drove to the original place where I made reservations from and they took ca re of me. Unfortunately u-haul is the only game in town. Otherwise I would never use them to rent a trailer. They are the worst example of customer service I have ever seen

JONATHON JThis location was very understaffed. Pick-up (with a reservation) took over 45 minutes. Drop off was much faster, but very disorganized, due to staffing. Dropoff was almost impossible because of lot congestion.
Matthew DI was charged a replacement fee for a dolly I rented and returned. I provided proof of the dropped off equipment to the manager Xavier and he will not return any of my emails to get this charged removed.
JAMIE JMake sure we don’t have a broken truck the alignment was very badly off mentioned it to the employees they didn’t even know and they rented it out was very dangerous driving on road they would exchange it or give a discount of any kind and still charged a arm and a leg and didn’t care about the safety of the driver only wanted their money

JOSE CI wish this survey had a separate category for your employees. The employees were great, very professional and helpful. The reason for the low rating is based on the fact that when I came to pick up my rental, there were 5 people in front of me and I stood in line for an hour. There was only one employee working the desk and he was doing the best he could, but he was the only one available. (Not sure if someone called in sick or quit, or what happened, but you definitely need more staff.) Long story, but I had to come back in the next day for a rental and was a little better because there were two guys, but still had to wait for 30-40 minutes. The other reason for the low rating is that your location is not good. The parking lot is TINY and it is so difficult to find a place to park and also maneuver anything. I know it's easy to say or suggest, but you would do well to consider relocating, as your parking lot should be at least twice as big as what it is currently. Anyway, just my two cents.

GRAYSON HMy experience with U-Haul from start to finish was extremely frustrating. I made a reservation in person four weeks in advance, thinking planning ahead would ensure a smooth process. However, the day before my move, I was informed that the vehicle transport I had reserved wouldn’t be available. I was moving out of state and had hired movers on both ends, so this last-minute change caused a major disruption. The only alternatives U-Haul offered were: driving 50 miles out of my way to pick up a trailer, then returning to load my car—or waiting until the next day hoping a trailer might be available after a return. I picked up the moving truck as scheduled on Saturday to at least stay on track with part of my move. I had to reschedule the movers on the receiving end to Sunday, which cost me extra since it was a weekend. When I arrived at U-Haul Sunday morning at 9:30 AM to get the auto transport, the location was a mess. There was a long line and no staff at the counter. People were walking out, and one customer waited 45 minutes before finally going into the garage to find someone. In the meantime, my brother-in-law hooked up a car transport trailer (which I paid extra for). When I finally got to the counter, I gave them the trailer number and asked for help securing my vehicle. I was told to wait by my car—30 minutes later, still nothing. When I returned to the office, no one even knew what I was waiting for. I ended up leaving over an hour later than planned. Drop-off wasn’t much better. I had to pay a nearby mechanic out of pocket to unhook my car from the trailer. Then U-Haul tried to charge me extra for time, even though I had picked up the truck Saturday and the trailer Sunday. I was told I had until Tuesday to return everything, but the drop-off location had limited hours (9 AM–3 PM), and the system tried to charge me for returning it Monday because it claimed it was due back by 8:30 AM—before they were even open. To top it off, trying to get help through the U-Haul 800 number was a nightmare. Overall, this was one of the most disorganized and stressful experiences I’ve ever had with a moving company.

JAMES DStill trying to get my money back. I rented a trailer for 2 days. 3 employees told me if I returned early then I would be prorated for only 1 day. I got the trailer back before 2:30pm for a 1 day rental and was still charged 2. I have sent 2 emails, called and was always placed on hold, and filed a complaint. Still no one has contacted me or said anything. Horrible experience.

BERKLEY DI reserved a 15 foot truck and when I arrived, I was told that there were no 15 foot trucks. I was given a 20 foot truck which was fine. However, the truck was dirty. It only had a fourth tank of gas and it smelled awful.

ROBERT FI was expecting long waits and mistakes based on the reviews. Instead I had no wait whatsoever. It's not the dealer's fault the Uhaul computer process takes a while to complete, so considering how much electronic form filling is needed, I was very satisfied. I might have been a wee bit fortunate there was no one in front of me when I picked up the trailer. A few people behind me had to wait a bit. When we came back in after verifying connects to finish up, there were two additional clerks helping people. Seemed adequately staffed to me. My clerk was very friendly. Drop off was easy and quick. I pulled into the drop off lane, stepped out of my vehicle and a tech was already coming toward me. He unhooked the trailer and showed me which way to go to get out of the lot. Couldn't have been any easier or faster.
STEPHEN DNever a pleasant experience going to the S.F. Uhaul store. The store hours listed on the door and the internet states the store opens at 7:00 AM. I got there at seven and watched an employee enter the store. I went to the front door and waited and waited. I called the phone number, no answer. I called the 800 number to no avail. At 7:20 AM the employee came and opened the door. No apology, no explanation The employees are over worded! I won't be back.

PAUL PI had difficulty using the App to obtain my vehicle and later found out others had difficulty as well. The equipment and moving supplies I ordered were not in the vehicle. I had difficulty locating the vehicle which was supposed to be in spot M1. Virtually no one at the counter for help, had to wait for assistance. The only reason I did not leave this location the poorest level was because of two workers who did help. One who located the truck and later checked it in. And the other who helped get my moving equipment and supplies. I was too frustrated to get their names, but if not for them, my advice is to stay clear of this location.

JUSTIN BI waited in the front office lobby. Main room for all the cash registers. Phones are for approximately an hour.With another lady, not one employee showed their face. And then the employee that did finally walked through the door cause they were gone as the employee back that didn't have a clue what he was doing said he had no clue where they went.They were off premises as I stood there.Waiting to check out running late, missing my appointments. Check out Guy told me 3 o'clock. I called in to try to it. Keep it a little bit later, cuz. My brakes went out my truck and I couldn't even get a my next an hour or anything you don't want to charge me. I've had nothing but bad experiences. The last 3 times and they're all due to employees at the 11th street location. Maybe management up above them should step up and do their job. It's p*** pour ran

ANDREW PThe gas tank was not full when I rented. This is the second time now I have rented there and this has happened. I have rented U-Haul’s from other locations and the gas tanks are always full. It is very odd. Was told that the tank was half full and it was not. This is very inconvenient! The furniture dollies were not in the back of the U-Haul. My son went back inside to go grab them and was told by one of the employees that they should be in there. Yea, they should have been in there. Inside of the U-Haul was very dirty so was the inside window. The drop off experience was awesome. The guy was great and very helpful.

KENNETH FWhen we arrived at the building, there was no rep inside. It appears the one person maybe was the only person on staff at the time. We waited a few minutes before he came out of the restroom. When he appeared, my boyfriend greeted him with a "Hello!". I don't think the uy even responded let alone acknowledged us. No "I'm sorry for the wait you guys" which would have been something I would've said had it been me. He just seemed super standoffish. No eye contact. We had made the reservation online before showing up but had the wrong vehicle for the towing. He said he would update the reservation. He was working on the computer for what seemed like a very long time and said nothing to us the whole time. It just was awkward and not very customer service friendly. His comments to those waiting behind us were very short also. The name on the receipt was Tyler S. The equipment was fine and worked for our needs. I'm a manager myself and oversee customer service employees at 4 different locations. I would rate this guy a 3/10 at best.
Emily WTruck was rough riding even full. Check engine light came on. There was supposed to be a dolly, wasn't in truck even though they said it was in the truck.
STEVEN HNo elevator so I received first floor accomodations. Was great. Used it to separate and store items from a pallet liquidatior until I had sold each item. Only needed it for 30 days. Check out was easy using the Uhual App.

JEAN JWhen I made my initial reservation it was to pick up in Sioux Falls and return there. When I arrived to pickup my rental on Sunday I was informed that they did not have my trailer with no explanation and no solution. I thought through a solution of picking up in Pierre and return to Sioux Falls. This worked but severely changed my plans and time schedule. Very disappointed that this happened. Always thought Uhaul was upstanding but now have reservations.
DAVID HI have used U-Haul several times and it is never a smooth or memorable experience. Maybe in an industry where people just readily come to you, it makes you complacent. Employees just really don't give a slip. What really irked me this time was I came in to reserve a tow dolly. Time was of the essence in this situation and wanted to depart ASAP Sunday afternoon. I reserved the Tow Dolly, took almost 15 minutes. Asked if they needed a credit card, no. And then other details came out Sunday afternoon they should have asked for. Also, I repeated information Sunday afternoon I had previously supplied. So, I expected to just hook up the Tow Dolly and leave, Nope, another full 20 minutes to fill out the paperwork, and the guy helping me was in NO HURRY Whatsoever, ARGH! Returning the Dolly was another slip me off moment. Never told me to return it to a specific place, so I went to the wrong store. The return equipment lane said to stay with the vehicle and an attendant would come out. Waited 10 minutes, while 2 additional vehicles arrived to return their vehicles. As I started walking up to the building, the attendant locked the doors and went home for the day??? Thanks U-Haul, I'm going to make the effort to find another resource next time.
GRANT BWhen we got the car loaded we had to unload it because the tires were almost flat so I had to dive an extra 8 miles to pump them up. Then I had to load my car again.So I got charged for textra miles which I think is not Fair.

The storage unit also had a wet floor and I suspect maybe ceiling was leaking because it rained on that day that I was moving in. I moved a bunch of clothes into that storage that I sell so hoping they don't get damaged by rain if the ceiling is truly leaking. Now the storage facility itself had a horrible bathroom smell because the bathroom door was just wide open and quite evidently unkept. It was hard to breath in there honestly. I hadn't already booked it I would've gone somewhere else just because of that smell.

When i arrived, I see what looks like an office with glass windows, I was concerned about going in because there was a man camped out in front of the door who appeared to be on drugs. I left my valuables in the car and quickly proceeded to the office. This address is 201 S.West Ave Sioux Falls 57104. Once inside, There is no one there, no office. Just a Kiosk that tells you, you need to check in online and have renatl insurance paperwork. Clearly too much hassel for a storage unit, but, most alarming was the desolate building with no personnel! I drove to the U Haul right around the corner and explained to Tyler, why I was so upset, He was very kind,understanding and professional. He took care of me by offering me a unit on site, the original address I first called. I appreciate the remedy but think Management needs to inform their employees to disclose the unmanned conditions of the property and to direct woman and the elderly to the manned site if available.

First of all, the design of the new storage units attached to the main building creates a situation where the entry to my storage unit is blocked with return U-Haul trucks every time I try to access it. Beyond that this U-Haul location is understaffed. So there is no one to help move the trucks out of the way. In addition, I first rented my unit online via the U-Haul website and when I showed up they did not have a unit of my size available. I understand this to be a corporate U-Haul issue and not a local problem. It seems corporate is creating issues and leaving it to the local U-Haul to solve it. I will not be renting from U-Haul again and I would strongly recommend against it to anyone I come into contact with

It was a Very very VERY loooong drive :/ I was offered a one month storage unit free of charge and when I arrived to turn in the trailer and unload our stuff.. I found out there was only an upstairs unit available at the drop off location I had picked 😳😳😱 ...I was totally overwhelmed at the thought of hauling everything we own up the stairs on my own and already exhausted from the long drive with wild kids 😩🥴 the lady that was helping us went out of her way to arrange a unit at a different location to accommodate and I am beyond grateful!! I almost cried the happy tears!!! Grateful, impressed, and sooo relived <3 I missed this kind of interaction that comes with living in the Midwest and it was a really great first experience with being back home. Thank you!!!

There was a UHaul lock on my storage unit, which I fully understand, but it wasn't taken off even weeks after I caught up the payment. An employee came up with me, told me he would go look for the key, and left me sitting there without returning for over a half hour. I left, and when I returned a couple of weeks after that, the lock was still there despite payments being all caught up. I was so relieved to get my things out of the storage unit and never deal with this location again.

I would not recommend uhaul to anyone and will be sure to never use your storagebservices going forward.
