they didn’t have the trailer I was assigned on the lot. The woman was a total B**** and yelled at the other employee and then Yelled at Me. Check your cameras. Watch the show. Total chaos. The three people I arrived with, were there waiting for over an hour. I was the only customer when I arrived. And over half a dozen customers waiting by the end of this disaster. Not pleased.

In the span of 4 years, I've used UHaul about 4-5 times and never had a problem. Harley, whom is one of the employees of UHaul, was very informative, helpful, and willing to reconcile issues I had this last time using UHaul as my go-to option for moving and storage. I had an extensive and informative conversation via phone call with Harley, inquiring about storage units, prices, etc. Prior to making other phone calls to other storage units and finally coming to a decision on which company to choose. Like I stated, I've used UHaul before and recommended them to everyone through out the years not only do to prices, services, availability and options -- EXCEPT this time around UHaul definitely failed me and I am embarrassed to have chosen UHaul for my moving or storage purposes at all. Not only did I later find 3 times less the price for 5 feet more of storage than the biggest (10'x15') that UHaul provides on their 12th&West location, but I lost (wasted) 24+ hours of moving items into my storage unit the first night because another employee (whom made it a long and suffering application process due to lack of interest in his own job and incompetence of how to use their own system) SOLD ME A PREOCCUPIED UNIT. After speaking with 24/hr customer service representative named Chris (whom was very helpful and did all he could), I was told to wait until a manager of the 11th Street UHaul contacted me after they open at 7a.m -- 9a.m comes and passes until I contact the company myself due to lack of response, I talk to someone named Tara who had no answers for me and told me she'd notify someone to call me back. 11a.m comes and passes until I call again when I reach Jason who claims that the owner/manager is his brother and is on vacation at that time therefore he's unable to listen to (24/hr customer service rep. Chris) his voicemails. FIRST OFF: Why are your customers' comments/complaints/concerns being forwarded to someone who is ON VACATION in the first place even IF he/she is the owner/manager? UNLESS they explicitly made it clear they would be prompt in responding to those needs while they were away. SECOND: Why was there no one else to step into a temporary management position while this person was on vacation? Harley whom seems to be the only competent, helpful, informative, and enthusiastic employee there could have easily improved my experience IF I had the choice or chance to have worked with her solely. In the end, Jason had no answers for me, told me the same exact thing that Tara did, then someone named Amanda contacts me and it turns out I got sold a preoccupied unit. Which just so happens to be the only "available" 10'x15' unit left (what a joke considering it wasn't even available!)--so all she could do for me after profusely apologizing for someone else's mistake, was to relocate me to two units a 10'x10' & 10'x5' now on the second floor and around a corner when originally the unit I was sold was on the first floor and a straight shot from

The lady that worked with us was very kind but it took over a half an hour to get me checked out and on my way. This then put me about a half an hour behind on my moving schedule. When she asked for help with checking me out, there was only one person there that seemed to know what she was doing and she was constantly swamped. When we finally got the truck, the door to the back was really difficult to open. I called the uHaul number for help but ended up never getting through. It was -5 out most of the day so quick service and assistance would have been nice. Overall, the truck was affordable, clean, and ran well. The only thing I would change is the customer service.

I was absolutely impressed with the smooth, efficient reservation, pick-up and return process. The 15' truck was well maintained with good tires and brakes (critical on a very icy day). The staff was very helpful and pleasant. They even warmed up the truck and brushed the snow off of the windows and hood before I took it in 6 degree weather. I dropped off the truck at 10pm Fri night and had a receipt for the agreed upon price at 8am the next morning. I highly recommend the Sioux Falls UHaul dealer on Menlo Ave!!! Thanks UHaul team ??

I was charged more than I should have. When I went in to tell them this the person at the counter argued with me. She eventually credited my account back and charged the correct amount but I had several authorizations in my card for several days that held up my available credit.

I booked a 26 foot truck 10 days ahead. They gave me a 20’ and a small trailer so we ended up having to drive back to Sioux Falls with a friends truck which cost me an additional $300. The manager was extremely rude and tried to charge 2 insurance charges extra for the trailer we did not want. And then she blocked us in helping someone else hook up trailer to truck. We sat there waiting 20 minutes we could not pull truck out they were blocking the exit. Will never use U Haul or recommend but will make sure this nightmare experience is known to everyone I can tell

I was suppose to drop my AT at JDDP Rental on Western Ave in Sioux Falls. It was closest to me and I indicated that location on my reservation. I arrived and the man came out and said I could not drop the trailer. He was installing remote car starters on about 20 cars today and did not have any parking spaces for a AT. Told me to go elsewhere. I was dumbfounded. I get on google and call other U-Haul locations. They told me I had to call and talk with a scheduler because I would be charged $50 if I went someplace I wasn't suppose to. Each time I was transferred to a scheduler, the phone would hang up. I was driving around Sioux Falls not knowing what to do. I finally drove to a place and TOLD them I was leaving my AT. I was tired of U-Haul and their sub par franchisees. They willingly accepted it, was very courteous, and apologized for the runaround with my whole rental experience. This young lady's courtesy went a long ways, but I still have a rotten taste in my mouth.

Rental truck was good, billing was a disaster!! Rather than spend $60 on a furniture delivery, we rented the $19.99 pick-up truck for about an hour and drove 16 miles. We were charged $51.19!!! We were charged $20 for rental, $17 for mileage (at 59¢ per mile, it should have been $9.44), $4 in taxes, and $10 for insurance. (We have full coverage, which I verified with our insurance company, so the rental truck **not van, just a regular pick-up truck** was covered by our insurance. U-Haul told us that we couldn't have the truck without the insurance.) We ran the mileage in our vehicle, and came up with 16 miles exactly. I called to dispute the mileage and insurance charges. I was told I would get a call back within 2 business days. A week and a half later, I called Uhaul again, and was given the customer service number. The CS agent said I was given a $10.05 credit. I asked what it was for, and was told it was mileage refund, that they had denied the insurance refund. She said she could reopen the case. I asked her to please do that, and I asked how many miles I was charged for, and she calculated 12 miles. I asked why I was charged for 12 miles, and she said, "It's less than what you're claiming. Do you want them to charge you for the 4 miles?" I told her I didn't understand the random credit amount. She said that maybe they just decided to credit me $10 instead of calculating the mileage. I asked why I hadn't received a call back for an explanation on the status, and she said they must have decided they didn't need further information, and just credited my card. She then said that I would get a call back within 3 business days. I said I would call back if I didn't hear within the 3 days. Verify & take pic of mileage, and beware of insurance scam!! Otherwise, rental truck was fine. I plan to contact the SD Attorney General's office.

Make sure gas tanks are actually full before customer pickup. Make sure the box is truly empty and has a dolly in it just in case customer needs it.

Did not have the truck size I reserved over a week in advance and was not offered a larger size truck for the same price even though there was one in the lot. Truck also took 4 gallons of gas for 22 miles.

I rated this location below average because of staff issues. The young lady helping me checkout the vehicle was having issues with the computer system -the card readers wouldn't work and she had to try over and over to get the contract finalized. In the meantime, although she asked two other staffers multiple times what might be the problem they basically ignored her. One of them was checking out another customer but could've at least responded. The other (another woman) was chatting with the other customer and guy checking him out. My service person persevered though and eventually got the contract to go through. When I brought the vehicle back there were trucks backed up out of the driveway into the street so I was sitting waiting my turn to drive in-until another customer rapped on my window to tell me those other trucks were actually empty! I drove around to the other driveway and parked in the lot and went in. The same young lady who had checked me out checked me back in - and it turns out the keys to the truck in the driveway blocking the entrance were lost! She was trying to call the boss about it while helping me, but only got their voicemail. The other 2 staffers who had been there earlier when I'd checked out were nowhere around. Lucky for this location they have this one hard working young woman!
