Michael ETruck tire was low and the warning light was on upon getting in the vehicle and halfway down the road I had to stop and put air and I thought it would be fine and then I get to Ohio and the tires down to 22 pounds of air. (NORMAL TIRE PRESSURE 40PSI) I kept having to stop and fill it up with air I stopped at least five times on the way to Michigan finally I pulled into a tire shop and had them put in leak stopper and it worked but it cut a lot of time off my trip and I was late returning the truck and car dolly and when I first got in the truck it smelled like marijuana I had to get some for frebreeze and spray it. My trip was so stressful but I made it to get my car and made it back to turn in everything. I told the guy when I turned the truck in about the tire and he seemed not to care or didn't offer me any type of compensation I called the customer service and they said they would get back to me on Monday since it was Friday evening so hopefully I get some type of compensation for this I spent $660 for this trip and it was so stressful and crazy I've been to other U-Haul places and they've been A+ stores this time was just a bad experience.

THOMASA HU-Haul: Like a One-Night Stand—Cheap, Questionable, and Gets the Job Done
ANDREW TWhat should have been 4-5 hour round trip, turned into an 8 hour nightmare. Only an hour and a half into the trip right front tire blew out. So another hour and a half waiting for roadside assistance. The person I was to meet had other plans that day so I had to wait for him to get back home. That delay caused my help here to go to work, so I had to scavenge two helpers to help unload. All of which shot the stress level and my blood sugar levels up. I feel all in all that some credit or discount on my charges should be granted. Balls in your court now.

ANDREW THad to wait 20 min for them to clear the windshield and I requested they ensure the latch was free and rear would raise. They did not, I only drove 2 miles away and had the first load to get in the truck at the curb. Took me 20 minutes more to free up the rear to lift it up so I could load it. Pretty rough start to the day.. I get it had snowed but it should have been in working order and ready for my use.

JAMES HThe entire experience was a bit chaotic. Initial drop off was a few minutes late but she called to let me know and they were empty so no big deal. Pick up was wild. Apparently the storage containers were set to be picked up the day before and put into storage instead of just being taken 3 miles across town. I didn’t know until I called to confirm pick up time and was able to change it. U-Haul called the day before to say they would pick up the containers between 8 am and 10 am which was perfect. Ten minutes before 10 am the next day I get a call from the driver who says he is taking a load 2 hours away first. Got there at 3. Smoked the whole time he loaded up and unloaded the boxes. Threw a cigarette butt in my front yard that my dog tried to eat. We lost a big chunk of time of a beautiful day when we had planned to unload. The concept is great. The units are nice. The execution of the concept was a mess. Hopefully it gets ironed out because as-is I couldn’t recommend.

All I needed was a lock for the storage unit I’d rented there—which should have been provided but wasn’t—no big deal but I think they need more staff in the evenings. Other wise I can’t say enough good things about this location from rental equipment to storage. Our truck was a little on the “probably needs to retire soon” side (and at 102k miles, it was in great shape) in terms of ride and power, but was absolutely fine for what I needed. I met the location manager and he was awesome. Jon is my new bff and we have a Shoney’s date someday. Overall an absolute positive experience in an extremely stressful situation, and the staff were all absolutely fantastic.

ANTONIO PI would recommend the store not be an obstacle course to get to the desk. The computers were down and I had to call back the next day to make sure the payment was processed. It hadn't went through my bank. Also the store should be marked better for the main office to drop off and pick up.

This was quickly taken care of by the employee working and definitely made the experience much better. Access to the building could have been a little more clear (use the exterior keypad even during normal hours). But I likely didn’t read everything.

That has been my only complaint. Everything else has been satisfactory.

Within this time period, we have had several issues so I am now getting twice the size unit for cheaper down the street from a company that values me as a customer. In seven months I have seen the highest turnover rate for any company I have ever seen. Is it the desk jockeys or the management???

Steven B | First ImpressionsI rent trucks from Uhaul often, but the only complaint I have is related to one experience with the storage facility. The elevator wasn't working properly when we were moving out. It stopped working before we got out first load out. The employee, manager on site, and the manager he called a not helpful at all. We were expected to carry heavy and bulky items down 3 flights of stairs. I rented a uhaul truck and was paying people to help move the stuff. The manager who was called by the employee didn't care that I paid for a truck and hired help and wasn't going to be able to move my stuff - I had to eat the cost. To top ot off, I am the one who fixed the elevator. I located a piece of rubber trim that was loose from the door on the inside lower part of the door. It was interfering with the sensor. Once I got the piece to stay in place, the elevator worked fine. After the lack of concern from the manager, I should've billed Uhaul for a service call.

I called that day and could not get through to anyone. I called back the next day and they told me they would refund the charge for the smaller unit since i hadn’t moved anything in and was moving to a bigger unit. I was still charged for the smaller unit.

The biggest complaint I have is that this is the first storage unit I have used that you are not pro rated your money back for time not used. We vacated our unit on the 6th but we were paid through the 19th. I don’t that is fair. They basically got a half month of free money. Not just storage units but most businesses pro rate your money back.

One suggestion I might make is if you somehow offered a helper service that I could use to move stuff once I get it to your facility I’m sure I would have used it. Perhaps You could have prescreened people locally that might like to make a few bucks and they might even turn into employees.

William P | Overall ExperienceThis storage unit was in a law suit. From where uhaul cut the lock off of my unit and proceeded to let someone who was only an alternate contact. And had no access to my unit. I tried to get my stuff before this bill got so high. But was told by Austin Dorsey. That it was in a law suit and I could not get it. He lied to police over and over again. Stuff went missing and then some returned. But the funny thing is. I live in Colorado. So you tell me how that could have happened. This was my life and personal items. That u haul allowed this to happen. I have police reports and pictures from the incident.. And the sad thing about it . Austin Dorsey covered the crime up. And I have spent so much money renting from u haul. I would never recommend u haul to anyone. I will be posting my comments on u haul website. And I think this should be checked into again. I think everyone needs to know how I was treated. And if you look at my bills that I paid every month until this robbery happened. Which was July. Not HAPPY.

He also explained everything well and into detail, he pretty much answered all my questions before I had to ask. He was kind and provided an awesome guest experience. Upon leaving I felt cared for as a guest, and felt pleased and comfortable utilizing the facility. Would recommend this location and Tyler to family and friends. I did not start moving my belongings in until November 26th. My access card would not work. Going to front office they could not find my info plus the unit i had signed up for on the 13th had now been rented to someone else. There were no other 10x15 units available. Here i have people from out of state & a trailer full. The gentleman helped me get into a a 10' & 10 & 5x10 nxt to each other. So the day was saved. He also helped me change my truck reservation from 27 to 26. I believe Patrick was his name. Very helpful. He is a pleasant person to help me that day.

I used two 10x15 units for roughly 18 months to store furniture and other belongings. While not cheap, using the facility was a good choice. All things considered, I doubt one can find a better facility in the Charleston area.

I asked him would it be trouble for me to rent a UHAUL truck on a different day and still get the first month free. He responded with “ya kinda” so I asked Patrick and he told me to get in touch with him and he would help me when I’m ready to rent a truck. My issue is the I have to be out of my other storage unit on the 9th and my apartment on the 30th. He was very understanding. The facility itself was very clean and security measures were impressive. The other thing that bothered me some is that the price of the unit said $129. Then when I went to pay it was $139 PLUS tax. I don’t know why it was $139, it was not explained, instead of the $129, and I have never seen tax on a storage unit. It is short term so I just went with it and Patrick was actually really nice and helpful, the other was just kinda ok.

Leandra G | Online Move InThe overall experience I had with U-Haul on my last truck and storage rental, has essentially made it that I likely won't be doing anymore business with U-Haul, especially since I was charged for an unsafe truck, well I'm sorry they discounted me $14, for a truck with ZERO RIGHT SIDE VISION, and I only used 1 week of storage and they billed me $140, not to mention I used to store for just $90 for same unit, and they refused to honor that price. When I stored for over 2 years in Johnson City, TN. I even brought in pictures, showing. The rate at my previous U-Haul facility. They still refused. So thanks to this facility U-Haul will no longer be receiving any of my business and over the years I have spent over 6k with U-Haul, and U-Haul will no longer receive a penny I'll just spend the extra money with Penske or most likely Budget, since budget is about the same cost as you guys. But I am HIGHLY disappointed with U-Haul and my entire experience. Not to mention I showed up to pick up a truck that was supposed to be ready at 6am, it wasn't I then spent 45 mins with a 5 year old with me to get the truck, because he was looking forward to riding in the truck in his car seat. Well that did not happen, I spent nearly 2 1/2 hours till almost 8;30am trying to get the truck, only to finally figure out there was NO TRUCK FOR ME, the keys wasn't even available for me. And I wasn't able to get a truck till 9:30/9:45, AND THEN THE TRUCK has ZERO RIGHT SIDE VISION, which I found out AT NIGHT, yay, and they refused to get it fixed, I mean they gave me $14 off my rental for a DEFECTIVE TRUCK. DON'T USE U-HAUL AND ESPECIALLY DON'T USE THIS LOCATION, THEY ARE THE WORST PEOPLE I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH INSIDE OF UHAUL.

That wasn't TOO big of a deal for me...but I definitely will lay something down when putting boxes, large mirrors/decor, etc. on the floor. Granted, I don't expect it to be a sanitized haven by any means, and I appreciated the sticky mouse pad, but I'm terrified of mice and I hope I can call the desk for removal if I were to ever find one because I'll have a panic attack. The only reason I rated this as an average experience is because someone who worked there (thank God it wasn't after hours or I'd be screwed), had to come and jerk the door open after swiping my card. I tried at least 20 times after having to sign in/out, then going to the other key login to open the door. Also, I received a free lock with 10x10 unit and was told it'd be in my unit when I arrived - but it was not... (again, thank God it wasn't after hours). Overall, my space is in a great location and it was overall clean...just maybe needed a quick sweep for new customers.

This is completely unacceptable and appalling. Get better employees who know what they’re doing and won’t talk bad about employees!

Then, when coming to the facility to pick up my uhual to move into my apartment on 07/01/20, Austin Dorsey put me on the red flag/file list; so, I couldn’t rent a uhual at first. When the other manager who goes by Red was on the phone with the representative to figure out why it stated “unknown” to rent to me in the computer, Dorsey walked into the facility with another crew member and yelled “Oh lord! not her again!” Cameras can confirm this on 07/01/2020 at 12:30 PM. I kept my cool and didn’t say anything back. Dorsey walked to Red’s computer monitor instantly, and Red said “can I clear this” to Dorsey, and he stated “I don’t care”. As i got my keys and was walking to the truck, he told another crew member, “I will just flag her again”. This is unacceptable, unprofessional, and an abusive of power. Additionally, uhual needs to investigate when individuals are placed on the do not rent list. That is just completely unacceptable.
