The stuff I had left in the unit was full of mouse pee and fesses. I found nest made by mice as well. I was missing a bunch of things I know I had in the unit like clothing dishes and stuffed animals along with some highly priced imagnex toys I will not recommend this place at all

STEVE FWhile everything was good mice shredded many of my bags seeking food I suppose. Need to either lay down traps of proision a lot of mice dropping once I got my belongings out opening my belongs mice dropping I can to dump everything to make sure I wasn't carrying any mice back traveling.. I personally seen a mice once inside the bend running to its exit though the back wall. Needs to be exterminator for the problem. Over all that's the only problems.

Thankfully my partner understood everything, but as someone who has high anxiety it was quite overwhelming. Furthermore, when it came time to secure my car to the U-Haul trailer there were no associates available to assist. The website stated there would be someone and yet we ended up watching a YouTube video in order to secure my car ourselves. Thankfully it went smoothly but it’s still a bit of false information on the websites end. Other than that I love that I chose U-Haul for my move because it was affordable and I could set up the reservation online.

I was forced to come here instead of the location I had reserved, costing me extra time during my move and extra miles on the rental. The point of making a reservation is that a truck is ready when and where you reserve it. Very unhappy with this process.
Florent SOur U-box was not delivered on Saturday February 15 as scheduled. We scheduled this out of state delivery back in January. We received a text on Friday as we were driving to South Carolina informing us that the delivery was Monday February 17. Not what was scheduled. I called and was told the driver hit a bunch of mailboxes and the truck was out of service. This was totally not acceptable. My husband and I are in our 70s, I have bad arthritis in my back and recently had hip replacement so we were in no condition to be sleeping on the floor but we had no choice. In addition we had to purchase all our meals for two and a half days since our box was not delivered. The loading and pickup in Madison Ct was perfect, no problems. This delivery was a nightmare. The delivery in Spartanburg was even late afternoon on Monday. Then on top of that I was charged $100 delivery fee yesterday. I definitely expect some compensation from U-haul for this fiasco. We lost 2 1/2 days getting settled in, lack of sleep, and unexpected food costs due to this late delivery all due to terrible customer service from U-haul on the delivery end.

MARK FBe more attentive to customers, I arrived and Had huge blocks of ice on the windshield and Went in to ask an employee if they had anything to clean it, They did not even respond and just went out aggressively and did it, Also I got charged 75$ at first After returning I filled the truck up all the way to Full and I get an Email about being charged another 25$ totally unacceptable, Also Please Ensure your employees keep their hygiene under control because there was a foul odor of feces coming from one employee

Elizabeth PA few nights ago when I went to empty my storage unit, I discovered a majority of my belongings covered in mice droppings. Not only was it a traumatizing experience I had to throw away a lot of my things out that were extremely soiled out of fear that I would get sick. I even found two dead mice in the storage which made me so uncomfortable as I was clearing things and throwing them away. It’s really unfortunate that this is the lasting impression this facility has left on me because the staff was very friendly. I lost a lot of my belongings that I won’t be able to get back because of something that happened beyond my control. I’ve already contacted customer service to file a complaint and hope that I will be compensated for the damage incurred through this incident.

ANTOINE HGood morning, my experience at U-haul was real. Bad and customer service for the service for the service at u. Haul was poor in on top of that. They had to call the police or me when I told them that I work at the airport and I'll be bringing a truck back shortly. The police call my phone. That was poorly like I was gonna steal the U-haul that got you guys name on the side. It's not making no sense. I felt embarrass. Ed, I felt like I'd appreciate it for using you w**** and I will never recommend nobody to go to U-haul on state street. The people there need some more training real bad. ENICO JIt was quick and easy to pick up the truck I had on hold. It took a bit to locate the vehicle but other than that it was good! The gas was at a lower position than on the paper and I was told I could go on the app. So I took the truck and didn't say anything.

HECTOR HI am very impressed with two things: 1) communication, and 2) pricing. I did some research and its pricing is very satisfying. Although the pricing is very good, the communication is surprisingly effective. I can always find agents over the phone in both pickup and drop off area. I do not need to talk to machines or leave voice mails. There is always someone pick up the phone and can resolve the problems. In addition, there are always confirmations over the phone call. The agents are friendly and professional. I am very pleased about the service.

When the trailer arrives I’m not allowed to have it parked in the lot because they do not do that and they already do not have any space for their own uhaul trucks. I told them I already got permission from a male employee.. She said well whoever you talked too wasn’t supposed to do that and she wanted a name of the person who let me know I can do that but unfortunately I didn’t get one, whatever so we ended up parking the trailer across the st and had to walk across the street multiple times moving our stuff out the storage..

I would recommend other stores but never Uhaul on state st in New Haven.

I continued to get a bill in February & March, for a bill I had already paid in full. I was being harassed constantly. Had charges added on, etc. in all the years I’ve dealt with U-Haul (30+ years) this is my most embarrassing moment ever. My bill was paid in full before I even left. And have my paperwork up to date.
Valeria D | Overall ExperienceThis storage facility at the time I was a renter was very unprofessional. There were dirty bikes riding through the facility where I rented my space. When reported to the front desk they looked at me like I was crazy but never addressed the issue, clearly from how they looked at each other they knew these dirt bike riders. Shortly after that, the lock was cut off my unit and mostly everything of value was stolen out my storage unit. When I inquired at front desk about security footage, they told me there wasn’t able from the angle of my unit, in which my unit was the second unit from the front door but okay. I moved out soon after due to the issue from this storage company (early 2022) but not before they allowed someone that was not on my rental agreement pay the amount owed to access my unit. They kept charging me long after I was already gone. I’m in better situation where I don’t need a storage any longer but I wouldn’t use them again if I needed one.

Even though the online instructions were clear, I was a little bit confused about scanning into one door and then actually accessing the building via the other. He saw that I was lost, so he came up to me and walked me through the process. He then escorted me to my unit (I didn't even ask him to do so - super kind/considerate). He opened it for me, got me my lock (and opened the package for me, which was great, because I didn't have a box-cutter), pointed out where the carts are, etc.. He really made it so seamless and easy. I felt like he gave me a VIP tour. I'm grateful he found me and took it upon himself to help me get acclimated! He was very friendly, too - ran into him a couple more times that day, and he checked-in to see if I needed help. I hope I got his name right, because he was AWESOME! This was around 7-9am on 10/12. One of the best customer service experiences I've had, which is especially crazy, because I didn't even seek out his help. Okay, I'm done gushing now. He was dope.

The manager assured me that he would apply a discount to the unit because it was more expensive than the one I had reserved. But he only applied it to the first month. I had to call several times to get the discount applied, as discussed. When I returned to the unit, all of my belongings were covered in mouse poop. The rodent issue was obvious given that the facility, when I returned, had a significant number of mouse traps in the hall way. Staff clearly knew about the issue but did not notify me. The manager told me that he would send me a complaint form, but I have not received it.

I’ve had issues moving in and out and still waiting to hear back about an unresolved issues. Reservations mean nothing here. I reserved a small 5x7x10 to store my belongings and when I get there I am told no such unit exists and the only small one they had cost me $30 more. I had no choice but to pay the extra because I had all of my belongings with me ready to move in. Moving out was an even worse experience. I let the facility know that I this was going to be my last month staying and that once the month was over I would no longer need my unit. I had paid for the rest of the month of august and moved out progressively. Unfortunately, they took this as once I sent the email I was completely done with my unit and they went ahead and threw away ALL of my stuff in the storage. Not once was I contacted and when I went to the unit to pick up my belongings they had already sold the unit to someone else. Luckily the employees there agreed it was a miscommunication and I filed a reimbursement for all of my destroyed and discarded items which quite frankly had a lot of value to me. I am still waiting to hear back from anyone at uhaul and it has been such a stressful process for me.

I think management should have emailed those with units on the second floor or just do a mass email regarding the issue. I had to make last minute re-arrangements. And the 1st day the elevator went down, no staff member told me of the other access from the back of the building. I found out the 2nd day the elevator was out. Also, the exit door broke and with a 15’ truck, backing out a oneway or maneuvering a three point turn may not be easy for some renters. And upon vacating I was told that I needed to turn in the fob and lock to the unit, but my wife bought the lock and is dismayed I had to turn it in when we paid for it and should have been ours.

There were many issues with my reservation that they weren’t able to solve or willing to offer suggestions. When they couldn’t find my reservation (even though I provided them with the reservation number, my name, and number, they just kept saying I didn’t reserve one and wasn’t able to get it. So once I asked to make a new reservation they finally said they had one available (and wouldn’t you know it was the one I’d reserved). Then upon checking out, I needed to clear my unit and there were no furniture dollys available (actually only 1 mattress dolly that couldn’t move my couch). I think one of the perks of renting with uhaul is the access to moving equipment. None of the staff were willing to help me look for a dolly after being asked multiple times. They actually just stared at me in silence at one point. Overall, I would go with uhaul again but not at this location.

Worse, they didn't even check again if I had actually moved out, the guy just clicked something in the computer. So disappointing!

What is the U-Haul company policy when it comes to vermin? Several items of sentimental value were destroyed by these mice. Of the items that weren't outright ruined, many reek of mouse excrement/decay, and will likely need to be thrown out. I do feel badly for these mice, who had to spend their final moments in such an unclean and unwelcoming establishment. I only hope that they found some solace nestled in the shreds of my old t-shirts and childhood memories. The infestation aside, U-Haul employs some really predatory billing practices, making it extremely difficult to pay your month's rent in advance of the due date. They then charge you if it's late. After a very frustrating phone call in which I was blamed for not using the "Future Pay" option (no such option exists), I was told my late fees would be waived if I enrolled in AutoPay. I begrudgingly acquiesced, but have yet to see a refund credited to my account (it's been a year). Avoid their storage services at all costs!

It was told to me, that you only take a dollar to hold the box however, I don’t understand why I just couldn’t pay for it. I spent a lot of time on the phone booking another unit with a very well mannered employee, only to find out that giving her all my credit card information didn’t reserve a unit. Fortunately they still had a unit available and I was able to purchase again for the third time only with my uncle being inside the location unlike the other two locations who sold my reservation to someone else. Very long exhausting experience. I ended up with a truck from one location and a storage from an entire different location. Not sure if I’d recommend this process to anyone? Let’s see how my items hold up in the storage facility🤞🏻

Once we got to the storage unit itself, it had a tag on it that said "ready for new customer" but it also had a lock on it. So we had to get the attendants a second time to take the lock off for us. They were all extremely courteous and professional. I had to ask one to put his mask on up over his mouth and nose. He did so without hesitation after I asked.

You should share this with them and let them know just how wonderful they truly are! That a customer thinks they are first class!
