Customer service was great, however, the 5 x 8’ trailer that I had reserved for a one-way trip was mechanically unsafe. The tires could be wobbled back-and-forth on the axle noticeably. They were not able to give me another 4 x 8 or 5 x 8 trailer. They did give me a 6 x 12 trailer, however this larger unit made my trip more difficult.
Gary LCompletely under staffed. One girl was work and I was instructed to "just drop it anywhere " one girl was trying to take customers, hooked and unhook trailers all at the same time.
Trenton GCustomer service needs improvement. There were over 10 clients and took more than an hour to get the trailer. Finally we went to hook the trailer and lights didn't work and the guy encourage me to take it like that is not a big problem. Then he hook me into and other one. At the middle of my trip I stop at the gas station to fuel up and did a walk around and noticed both tires loose to the axis. I reported when I returned it.

William CWhen I arrived, the main building was empty with nobody working the front counter. A couple of guys who worked in the back came but didn’t say anything. After about 10 mins, the guy who was working the desk came in from being outside working helping the staff. He was beyond excellent! Phenomenal. After the admin was completed, we walked outside and directed me to hook up. He was quick and professional throughout. He did bring another employee over to assist him with the hook up. This guy appeared dishevelled and didn’t stop smoking a cigarette the entire time. There was cigarettes smoke everywhere. Upon return, the female attendant checking equipment in was great. She then brought the guy with the cloud of smoke around him. Again, cigarette hanging out of his mouth, smoke everywhere. If it wasn’t for the individual who handled the paperwork at the start and the staff member directing equipment check in, I would rate this experience a 4/10.
Ronald MAnother Uhaul truck was parked & left 40’ from the drop off area. I pulled around it and parked where the sign says to wait for attendant to assist with drop off of equipment. U-haul worker kept walking to the other truck and never said a word to me. I waited 20 mins and he was still working on the other truck. He then got into the truck to drive it away and another truck pulled up behind him. He proceeded to press on the horn button to create a long blast. I drove out of the waiting drop off area and drove around. He drove the truck and parked it. The other truck to the spot in the wait to drop off area where I had been waiting. So now I was back in the lineup. Worker then proceeds to stop and smoke a cigarette even though he can see me waiting. Another employee comes out and talks to him. This worker comes over and asks what I am doing. I stated that I am attempting to drop off the trailer. He states that customers returning equipment are supposed to come inside. I told him that their sign says to wait at the drop off area. The employee then says “ya the sign’s not too clear & your supposed to come inside” I asked him why the other employee who had seen me waiting for over 20 minutes not tell me that. The reply I got was “ya he’s new”. Over 30 minutes to drop off a trailer is unacceptable.

Jennifer SOne of the fellows (short dark hair with glasses) was not very friendly, in fact it seemed like he was having a very bad day and was feeling a bit grumpy... aside from his demeanor though, I just let him be grumpy, I came in to dtop off a trailer and and get a storage unit and that's what I did... however the fellow that I dealt with was supposed to give me a free storage unit for a month but instead he charged me for the full month... I later returned the next day and got all that sorted out... aside from that situation I still got super awesome service from the other employees and I will always return to use your company again... I extended my rental online and then got a text saying I breached my contract, threatening to report the truck stolen. As wonderful as the staff were, wasn't really worth the headaches and the bullshit in all honesty. Will likely not return to this location.

The windshield wipers were in terrible shape and didn't do anything. Margaret VHad booked a trailer on app at a sherwood alberta location booked my hotel at sherwood park room as well where I was close to the vehicle I was getting the day before was called and told I had to pick up30 minutes away at a.different one location in Edmonton on the way to get this trailer 30 minutes away my windshield got a rock in it cracking my windshield. The location was understaffed for a.Monday Morning was lined up 1 person there only. Trailer had not been cleaned as there was gravel on the ramps.
KORY KBetween having to do an extra 202km of driving, and the engine misfiring, it cost me more than double in fuel compared to the identical rental the weekend prior. Uhaul added an extra day and the kilometers to my rental, but did nothing to adjust the price.

Patricia Acustomer service is awful. Would not give me a snow brus for the truck knowing its a snowy day and bag weather. I don't know why they are so cheap on safety features like snow brushes??
Michael Rtook 45 minutes to get the truck DESPITE having a reservation and DESPITE having pre-checked in on line the with app and providing front and back of my DL a day in advance. Agent was less than useful. No mention that the truck was at quarter tank fuel. No mention to bring it back at that level. The dashboard says to use the gauge provided on the contract to see how much gas to put in but there was nothing on the contract. I'll never use UHaul again...

stephen aSubject: Concern Regarding U-Haul Rental Experience Dear U-Haul Customer Service, I recently rented a 15’ U-Haul truck, and I wanted to share my experience. I arrived 30 minutes early for my reservation and waited approximately 45 minutes before being assisted. I was informed that the truck I had reserved was given to someone else, but I was offered another vehicle, which I was told was the last available rental. Upon inspection, I noticed the truck had difficulty starting. The associate assured me that this was normal and mentioned that the starter needed to be replaced. Unfortunately, throughout my rental period, I continued experiencing difficulty starting the vehicle, which made the experience stressful. Additionally, the truck’s cargo door was difficult to close and showed significant rust. Overall, while I appreciate being accommodated with a vehicle, the condition of the truck raised safety concerns and made my rental experience difficult. I wanted to bring this to your attention in hopes that future customers can receive better-maintained vehicles. I would appreciate any feedback or resolution regarding this matter.
Sunny SCheck in had to wait 20 minutes for an employee who knew how to do check in as guy working didn't know how to use computer or how to call anyone. Check out was a massive puddle in front of our unit as well as nails and screws all over the driveway. When I told the employee, he didn't care. Just gave me# for customer service.

Alyssa RI rented car from 8:30am to 10:30am, application recommend to me the mobile pickup, and I asked in chat online how I can mobile pick up at this time, I got answer I will receive the code for open the box with key, on next day I drove to spot at 8:20am and start to wait the code, 8:30am no any code in my phone, I goes to aplecation and press pick up the truck and got the text: The truck is not equipped and call ( or something like this) so I still waiting when the personal will come to work and I try to rent the truck, so I rent the track at 9:30… and application text to me I need return the truck at 10:30)) I returned at 11:20am, another all is good ( sorry for my English) thank you, with you is every easy the moving
Roman VMore staff available to do check-in’s. There was only one lady available to check people in and out and she was trying to do everything herself. I had my unit booked for 8 o’clock and by the time I left it was 845. She was very accommodating and very nice but there’s only so much one person can do. The unit also didn’t have any fuel in it so I had to stop and get gas on my way to do the move. The unit itself was clean and stocked as requested so there was no issue there.

Went back another day key Brock in lock .worst part to have the guy on the 15 of oct put payments on sure pay. Payment to come out of my account . Then I got interest bills because of no payments. I called Nicol and since the I received bills even to emergency contact. Trusting resolution I received another bill more fees . Not so happy!! If I get another notice of no payment and late fees I will remove my things and leave. At this point we will see if resolved. One more notice comes for late payments I will leave and go to court. I am very upset.

So if your place isn't ready yet or something comes out, you can store your stuff for the month for free and then come pick it up before the end of the month and it's free. 25hr access!! You get a swipe card. You don't have to remember some code of numbers, yay.. The manager was very human and sympathetic, about a situation in lieu of events and give me a deal.

I came home and called my credit card and gave them heck they looked up my card and said there was nothing wrong with it it was your end that stopped the payment my card company even told me how many times they tried, so conclusion your employee didn’t know what they were doing or lazy and never tried and didn’t give a heck.so long story short you lost a very good customer which is really to bad

The door to the storage unit is almost impossible to open because it’s so warped and it took all my strength to open it and I had to use an extra post to get the door up because I was too short, there are constantly homeless people in and around the storage facility with no security. I would not go to the storage unit at night because of this, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone ever the staff were friendly and helpful though

The Uhaul locker was dirty and we had to stand everything on pallets incase of water. I stored my furniture and boxes there 4 months. Everything was covered in dirt when I went back for it. I will continue to rent trucks but I will not use the storage again. Staff are awesome though!

This review is actually as a first time customer for their outdoor storage area, I have always rented from their climate controlled area. I technically rented on March 31, 2024, I moved some personal items in throughout the week. I was at the facility at least 5 times that week. I found a different unit in a different storage facility on April 13, 2024. I moved everything in over a one week period, and everything out in one day just two weeks later and this is why... As a long term customer of Winterburn Uhaul, I am shocked at how little priority is placed on their facility security when that is absolutely what the Uhaul business model runs on. Winterburn Uhaul does not seem to be well staffed and obviously has management in place that is overwhelmed or just doesn't care. As a company, Uhaul commits to its customers to provide a safe and secure storage facility in exchange for payment. As a customer, I am obligated to pay on time, not store hazardous materials, etc, etc. I follow through on my contract obligations. Why does Winterburn Uhaul not follow through on their contract obligations to their customers? Winterburn Uhaul runs a facility with a huge theft problem. Staff cannot state they are unaware as I have overhead at least six people complaining to them of theft since I moved in. It seems to be a constant issue as lock after lock can be visibly seen broken from the doors. On April 13, I noticed the door jam of my unit was broken. I hadn't been contacted there was an issue with my unit and only found out when I went to the storage unit in person. I don't believe anyone actually checks on units for problems, or if they do they aren't overly observant or communicative. Thankfully my unit hadn't been fully broken into, but it was only a matter of time before it was. People are actually living in these storage units. It was communicated with staff there are open fires happening at night beside visible bottles of propane. It has been communicated that many units have been broken into at night. Gates are visibly left open by staff for hours while they work between sites, each time I visited storage this occured. It's the customers who are left with their belongings at risk, lost and ruined. Yet Uhaul knows they have a problem and has ignored it?? Where is the accountability Winterburn Uhaul? I did speak with staff, who told me to speak with the Manager yet when I tried to communicate with Nicole, the Manager, I was brushed off twice and told that she wasn't available and/or unwilling to discuss the issues. I have not received a phone call back or an email but yet I'm to review my experience?!? My experience and review is this: honestly, if you value your belongings - go to another facility. Don't waste your time, your money, your insurance. Go somewhere where you are actually appreciated as a customer. It goes both ways, if you want my money start providing the service that I pay for.

I rented a truck online from Friendly Mini Mart & Laundromat because it was only five minutes from where I live. I also reserved a 5 x 10 x 10 storage unit online from the U-Haul 50th street location because it was the biggest one that was available at the time. There was a notification online when I reserved the storage about reminding me to ask for the second month storage free when I rented a truck. When I arrived at the Friendly Mini Mart & Laundromat to pick up the truck on Friday, September 22, 2023, I mentioned this to the clerk and was informed that the staff at U-Haul on 50th street would look after that for me when I arrived there to secure my storage unit. When I did arrive at 50th Street location the following day on September 23, I discovered that the storage unit they had available would not be sufficient for my storage needs because it was too small. The lady at the counter did a search on her U-Haul database computer for bigger storage units at other locations and informed me that the Winterburn location had some available. She gave me a printout of these units and the prices as well as their phone number. When I asked her about the second month free option she informed that the staff at the Winterburn location would take care of that for me when I got there. Instead of calling the Winterburn location by telephone, I used the U-Haul app to reserve a 10 x 15 x 8 unit for the following day which was September 24, 2023. When I arrived at that location on September 24 to pay for the storage unit I was told by the female counter clerk that I did not qualify for the second month free offer because I had rented the truck in Edmonton and not at the Winterburn location. I don’t think this is right and that it is very misleading because I was never given any indication prior that this was how U-Haul conducted their business in relation to qualifying for a free month of storage. In fact the 50th street location gave me every indication that I would qualify because I had rented the truck from the U-Haul company. Even though the lady at the sales counter at Winterburn was very pleasant and professional, and I don’t have any problem with her job performance, the whole matter still doesn’t sit well with me. I think that U-Haul failed in a number of ways in how they communicated matters prior to my travelling to Winterburn to secure the unit and that they should do the right thing and provide me with the free month. I was not made aware until I arrived there that I needed to rent the truck from their location. I fail to see the difference why it should matter where the truck is rented from. The lady at 50th Street location didn’t give me a heads up about that either and left me with the impression that I was doing everything I needed to do. It’s not an overly significant amount of money…just $190…however, I think that I entered into renting a truck and storage with U-Haul with the right attitude and expectations and they dropped the ball on their end. It appears that they have found a nice convenient loophole to deprive me of taking advantage of this promotional offer. I am thinking of making a complaint about the U-Haul company to the Better Business Bureau about the entire matter if the Winterburn location doesn’t do the right thing in this regard. The only thing that is stopping me at this time is I am not sure if that location may try to blacklist me from any future business if I do file a complaint. I also discovered that I was overcharged $93.19 at the place I rented the truck from. I waited a week to see if they would reverse the charge but this morning I noticed that my credit card company had posted the transaction to my account without any reversal of that charge. Now I have to go and make a complaint to my to credit card company about getting that matter resolved which I shouldn’t have to do if the U-Haul company hadn’t overcharged me to begin with. Another thing that concerns me about Winterburn location is that there seems to be a number of people parked and lingering outside the security fence looking to drive in whenever a paying customer swipes their security code card. On just my very first two visits to my storage locker I observed there were two other vehicles that hurriedly passed through as soon as the gate was opened. It made me wonder who are these people and why are they waiting outside the security fence looking for an opportunity to piggyback other vehicles to get through the gate when a paying customer goes through? The whole matter didn’t leave me feeling very secure about storing my belongings at this location knowing that there were perhaps unauthorized people driving around the storage lot who may not have proper access. I had to contact my insurance company as quickly as possible to add the storage unit to my home insurance policy in the event of break-in.

I called customer service at the toll free number availed and I was incorrectly informed that my reservation was cancelled (by one agent) and non-existent (by the second agent). I was insistent on being helped by a an agent who seal with access issues and I was transferred to a third agent who was very knowledgeable and quite helpful. He transferred me to the location GM who quickly realized my confusion and while on the phone with me, quickly resolved my issue in a matter of seconds. I wish I knew calling the GM was an option because two of three customer service agents were either not well trained and/or didn't care enough to resolved my issue. I will recommend the online reservation and move in to my family and friends because it's a fast and very efficient process with a caveat to ensure they are using the correct access portal to gain access to the building. In addition, I would like to commend the Ms. Nicole Goruk, the GM of the location whose help was the only silver lining in this process. She took time off her hours away from work to make sure my experience was swift by providing pinpoint accurate information by guiding me through the process. Give her a raise !!!

I was rented a 10x20 unit that was completely flooded and was told no other unit available so we had no choice but to line the floor of the entire unit with pallets. Then they restricted the times we were able to access our unit. As time went on I at times didn't pay my unit for 6 months at a time but then always completely paid it in full. All of a sudden after my unit was only 60 days in arrears they informed me that it was going up for auction at which time I contacted them and complained because I found it easier paying every 6months rather than yearly. The manager told me that she had every right to put it up for auction after it had not been paid for 60 days. Once they told me it was going for auction I had the option to pay the settlement amount and I sent numerous emails and tried calling numerous times to find out what the amount would be only just to not get a reply to my emails and when I called whoever answered put me on hold for 30-45min at a time each time, before I could even tell them who I was or why I was calling. After being on hold for that long I would hang up and call again and same thing would happen so I eventually gave up. And now they sent me an email (from a no-reply email address) stating that my unit was sold and that I still owed a bill?!?!? I am very upset about the whole situation. I paid well over $3000 in storage bills for my keep sakes, valuables and personal belongings- just to lose it all to someone who paid $381 for it?!? That's totally not right at all.. especially because I tried to contact them and didn't get any reply at all. And even once they said "I will get back to you with the settlement amount" and I never heard back for 2 months- and now my unit is sold...WOW.

You’re trying to use the single elevator where you might be wheeling in multiple dollys and carrying heavy things and it’s set with a quick door close timer and an alarm if you try to hold it open.

My payments were taken out on my credit card and everything was smooth. Any problems were my own problems. I planned on the storage to be only a short time until I had more definite plans. Before I could return, Covid came along. Travel was next to impossible then my credit card expired. I called my bank as I am working in Cambodia, and they immediately forwarded a new credit card to me in Cambodia. That should have been ok as the number on the card would be the same. But, that was too easy. The card never made it to me. Therefore they couriered out a new card but this time with a new number. Meaning my payments could not be made on my credit card. I had to get someone to pay cash. But soon I will be back in Canada making decisions. It may come to the point where I may be back at your doorstep needing storage again. I would not hesitate using your facility again.

I started to receive emails in Jan that I had a payment due. I had already prepaid so I didn't pay much attention. They I started to get "Pre-Lein" letters and every 2 weeks, penalty charges were added to my file. I called multiple staff who said they would clear it up for me. It didn't happen as I kept getting notified. I finally spoke to the female manager there and she said to ignore those and it would be cleared up. I went this weekend to get my stuff and my code didn't work anymore AND there was a double lock on my unit and my account was still deliquent!!?? What a frustrating ending to my experience with this location. I won't be doing business with them again nor would I recommend them. When staff stays they a re going to take care of things, they should. When a manager says they are going to take care of things, they better!! So upsetting.

Paid for 24 hour access and on multiple occasions was unable to get in to my unit l, and the phone call into the store was unsuccessful just to be told "well it should work". I had to go into the office a few days later before I could gain access to my unit. Trying to phone in to speak with anyone is next to impossible and on a few different occasions I waited on hold for 45 mins to be told to hold again, and if you have have issue when you get to the counter when you go into the store expect to get a snarl if it's not one of the guys that are working. I would absolutely not recommend storage solutions from this uhaul facility!! Trailer and truck rental services are decent if you do all the self check in and return on your phone.

Finally the manager came back with one other employee and the line moved quicker. The manager at the store was also 10 minutes late while there was a line forming at the front door so the store wasn’t even open until 9:15. I was done moving in at 9:30 but since I didn’t have my lock I didn’t leave until 11:00. Worst experience I’ve ever had and all they offered me was a free one month 24 hour service. Which is only $10.

It took him 4 attempts and 45 minutes just to reserve my spot, even though I had reserved online, and called ahead before I arrived. I was told conflicting information, one person said I needed a lock, another said I didn't, the employee reserved me a slot that apparently didn't exist. It was no surprise when I went to drop my camper off for the first time, my swipe card didn't work, and of course it was after hours. The security for the outdoor storage is terrible (anyone could jump the fence), and it is more of a storage dump for garbage than for campers. Needless to say, I turned around and cancelled the next day.

I didnt receive a call and had to empty my car load back into the house. So now im looking at alternatives to uhaul as they are not reliable. I had my uhaul booked to remove my things next day the manager Johnathan said I wouldn't return the truck when I've always returned the trucks on time paid in full cleaner then I rented it and no reason to imply I slept in my unit as I came and went once a day he was 100% just bullying me because I dressed different and or being native he just outright didn't like me. I had to leave all my items outside for the night as I hadn't planned another truck being denied for no reason by this jerk Johnathan. I lost everything, they stole nearly everything. I'll never forget that. Karma will pay it's due to these scumbags at winter burn uhaul one by one the greasy fat losers will suffer a great loss then spend eternal in loneliness like I felt that cold day. Please do not support or rent from these people they are rotten terrible pathetic excuses of human trash.

I've been a long time customer spending at least $5000.00 with Uhaul over the years. I also had mice in my unit which went though some of my stuff and not done unpacking it all so not sure all the damage it caused yet. I think there should be better ways to deal with the mice situation as in under door guards to keep the mice out.
