ALEX GAfter ALL THE RUNAROUND getting the trucks, we got a call saying that the second truck now could not be delivered to the same location as the first truck, and that we would have to deliver the two trucks to two different locations in Corvallis. Um, NO. So we got everything switched to the Corvallis location on 5th. We showed up there and the staff member COMPLAINED that they were really full. Well, I'm sorry but UHAUL insisted that we take at least one truck there, and I can't tell you why, because they were SWIMMING in everything. THEN, one of the staff members started to complain that one of the fuel gauges was just slightly below the full line. Listen, we had just come from the gas station and it's an automatic shutoff when the tank is full. He was SUPER rude--and at that point, I wasn't too nice either. He wanted to show me how "right" he was. Fortunately, the manager stepped in and waived the fee--$18 on a bill of well over a thousand. That guy slunk off and another member of staff helped with the second truck. NO ONE helped us pull the car off the car trailer, even though they asked if we could use help and when we said yes, they all scattered. What you can do to help customers is have better communication between stores. But you won't, so I won't waste any more of my time on this. I hope never to move again, but if I do, I will NOT use anything other than a small local truck. Everything with this move involving Uhaul has been a JOKE, except none of it is funny.

My reversible hitch was jammed and the staff helped me get it off the truck and then provided me with an operational replacement. I was in a time crunch and they had me out the door and in the road in record time.

I have never been to a U-Haul location in California that was run the way Brent and Lucas run the Corvallis location.

DUSTIN SAfter reserving my box truck with the local U-Haul, I received a call from the U-Haul corporate office asking me if I would accept a discount on my reservation in exchange for me transporting an additional trailer along with my truck. I accepted the offer, but when I went to the local office to pick up my reservation, the trailer wasn't there, which meant that the discount was no longer valid. This was rather upsetting since we decided to go with a larger truck because we were counting on the discount to offset our costs, and now we were stuck with a bigger truck and bill. Better communication between the U-Haul corporate and local offices would have improved our experience.

DAVID SMy question is this , when I rent a vehicle from u-haul , if I fail to return it with the same amount of fuel , I get charged for the fuel : but when I return it with more than it left with , I get no reimbursement for the extra fuel . Can anyone answer that question for me ?

ROBERT WBe honest about what insurance and roadside assistance means. I got hit with an over $400 Tow truck Bill when stuck in ice. I thought I’d paid extra for insurance and would be covered. When returning the truck even the agent didn’t know that wasn’t covered.

The service staff at the storage place were very kind and helpful. Exceptional even. I appreciate them.

LISA Y | Overall ExperienceThe security system itself seemed adequate however, the pricing… $225/mo for an un-lit, average sized low ceiling storage unit that I can’t even park a car in whether it fits or doesn’t fit seems ridiculous after getting an entire 40ft shipping container storing 2 vehicles in a quiet part of town for $150/mo. Over all U-haul has played an essential role in making my hobby possible, mainly renting auto transport trailers. I will say the long haul rate for auto towing seemed excessive and put a pit in my stomach after I hit “Reserve”. I obviously don’t know how the numbers work out statistically but other than the potential for a poorly maintained trailer, the odds of disaster don’t seem to have much of a difference whether you’re going 20 miles in town, to 2000 miles through multiple states, and adding the number of states traveled through, as well as relocation of equipment to the list of what the rate is based on seems a little contradictory to the purpose of this service. What could have the potential to be an extremely convenient “no brainer” option for people is resting as a last resort reality for people without the means to do it themselves. At the end of the day I’m just salty about having to spend 8x the amount I wanted to for a day’s worth of driving as opposed to an hour or two. I say if you consider the nuances and adjust the rates accordingly, may be followed by having to put more focus into expanding the fleet to keep up with demand.

It’s a simple business really, solutions about stuff…either moving it or storing it. It never was never over complicated, something that happens a lot with so many companies. Dealing with the public is always a testing experience and I’d give them an A+ for their overall performance. If I was in charge I’d make sure they were all properly compensated simply because finding what they possess in customer service and problem solving skills cannot be taught and would be very expensive to replace when another company identifies and recognizes the same things I witnessed and lure them away…just a thought anyway.

Instead my calls were auto-routed to UHaul Customer service which is a nightmare during the day - with hold times to get through to a person of 30 min plus. Yet when I called other UHauls in the area on Tuesday, I could at least leave a message and someone got back to me. Being from out of town I initially assumed on Tuesday that maybe it was an unmanned facility, as us the customers seem to have to keep doing more and more of the administrative work when buying something, renting something etc. and that is a big bummer.
Robert H | First ImpressionsOverall everything was very good. The only issues we had were that there was nearly 1" deep standing water in front of our unit, #141. It just wasn't level for drainage. The other issue was the expense. Paying nearly $180 p/mo.for the 8X10X20 storage unit was pretty steep. I looked around and found another storage place with a unit that was taller, wider and deeper about 5 miles away for only $130 p/mo with the third month free. It is well worth moving out.
David K | Overall ExperienceOnline rental was quick and easy (similar to other services Uhaul provides), however storage access times are misrepresented. See screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/s4wayiH . "Storage Access" is stated to be from 5AM - 10PM with the option of 24hrs access as an additionally sold amenity. Unfortunately, this is not how the location handles it's accessible hours, instead you must use dual locks on your unit and request a key from the front office upon each visit, to unlock a secondary lock that the location owns. This must be done within business hours (7am - 7pm) and requires the physical surrendering (this is written during statewide quarantine) of a Uhaul accepted identification card, significantly reducing the usability of the storage. After 30 days, this inconvenience can be remedied by a fee increase of $120/yr for 24hr access. While stated otherwise on the rental webpage, there are not any actual access hours allowed between 5am - 7am or 7pm - 10pm unless special arrangements have been made with the front office per exception. This was not explained in any form upon move in. In fact, required front-desk sign in or supervised unit access is mentioned as a punishment for customer disturbances within the rental agreement and contains no reference to actual office hour requirements. Additionally, the confirmation email itself states that access hours are 5am-10pm Mon-Sun without any mention of a required check in. At this point I am curious what other red flags or fees will come about during this process that were left unexplained at the move in time or inaccurately represented on their website. I am understanding of the rules, that the location is allowed to set rules to maintain order on this premises, that the management is working hard to keep units secure for everybody and why this policy would be in place in absence of a gate. But with the combination of the false access times represented online & in the confirmation email, no mention of the specific access hours within the rental agreement itself and increased rent to use the access time already thought to be paid for - I feel that future buyers should be aware of this up front and take the omitted details into strong consideration when evaluating this location’s service.

I will have to deal with another company in Corvallis now.
