Horrible experience, I will never use UHaul again or recommend you! I was notified at 605pm the night before my reservation that I had to pick up my UHaul 88 miles from the location I chose. It was a 3 hour round trip just to get the UHaul. I had to find new help to load and get a ride to UHaul being that my car was already in Southern CA. All that was compensated was the miles, ridiculous! You'll made a already stressful situation of moving that much more stressful. I asked to be compensated more and that was it! That is the worst customer satisfaction experience coming from someone that's been in customer service for 26 years.

I rented the truck Thursday..When I Started it the gasoline line is before 1/2 tank..So when I returned the Truck I put $6.00+ of gasoline and it ended in 1/2. Your email to me to check everything came too late I already returned the Truck by the time I notice the email..Then I received this mail yesterday but just read it tonight and I was Charge $7.12 extra for 1.5 gallon gasoline. My point is I put more gasoline on the Truck than when what it have when I picked it up..Your record of gasoline in the tank is not accurate.for 25 miles round trip I am paying $13.00+

As a disabled veteran, I was discriminated against . The front staff worker was extremely rude and not accommodating. I had to go back the next day to get the dolly that the staff forgot to give me and was given a difficult time about it. Your website says accommodates disabled so does the aign on the door but clearly not

we got our uhaul rental for 2 days/ 48 hours and we picked up on Saturday November 7th at 11:30am and we were required to bring back by Monday November 9th by 7am if not the uhaul would not be released to us even though we had it until that Monday at 11:30am. We are being charged for the full 2 days/48 hours and it is unfair to be required to return earlier and still be charged the full amount. It was not convenient to us to have to return earlier than we had to especially if that is what we agreed upon during rental agreement. I am upset at the fact that this even happened, we are a professional business and I don't believe this was handled correctly in any manner.

The gentleman that I originally spoke with was very nice and business like. The man that checked me out when I returned the van was rude. He was angry at me for not driving the van around the corner. I agree that I was 30 mins late returning the van then had to wait in line for 20 mins once I got to the office to check that I returned it in good condition. I hope the man was just having a bad day....

When I arrived we found that the drop off location was ~5 hours away from the requested drop off location (near LA vs. Monterey CA). Not being familiar with the area I didn't catch this ahead of time. I was initially told I had to drive the trailer to LA but I refused and said this was a uHaul dispatch error. After several phone calls it was resolved. The check in agent was very friendly but the manager had to be prodded to resolve the issue. Didn't seem like he was anxious to inform me it was resolved because he starred at his phone for several minutes after it was resolved and I had to ask him if everything was ok. At that point he said yes. I appreciate that the issue was resolved but the manager didn't seem interested in what he was doing and needed to be prodded. Two days later I still have not received the $23.76 refund to my credit card which was told will occur but maybe that takes some time... don't know.

Drop off online is a pain in the ass. Gave up after 10 minutes trying. Was too tired at 10:30 pm to figure it out. Shouldn't charge $20 for not doing online. Not really fair.

After reserving the truck two weeks prior to moving, you guys canceled my reservation 15 minutes before I was supposed to pick up the truck. This is very unacceptable. I had to pay extra money to cancel the movers and I have three kids that I had to take care of in the meantime. The nearest truck for me and my family was 75 miles away and I had to drive two hours to pick up the truck. I had to improvise and get a Intown truck and pay $1.19 per mile for 500 miles. All I wanted was a little sympathy from your personnel that worked at the Del- monte U-Haul in Monterey but was given no courtesy whatsoever. I will never use you guys again.

Took 3 tries to get the trailer I reserved. (It wasn't there the first two times even though I reserved it.) The employees all had an attitude except for the girl working there that day (Wednesday 10/28). This third reservation was booked by "the regional manager" who said they would set me up with a discount for my troubles. That didn't happen. The trailer straps were stuffed through the wrong way and had to be pried out because the ratchet straps were jammed as a result. Overall the worst rental experience I've ever had.

Everything was smooth and at a reasonable cost. I was surprised to find the inside cab of the truck smelled strongly of smoke, but that's not a big issue.

Booked online for 6.30 am pickup. Arrived, designated van blocked in. No way to get to it. No staff available until 9am. Called 800 number but there was noting they could do. Had to leave and return at 9am. When I returned, staff didn't seem to care that this was a major inconvenience and put my move back three hours. No apologies, no understanding of the issues it caused or the stress involved. Have rented from another location twice recently with no issues so this location needs some customer interaction training. Incidentally, the person on the 800 line offered me $50 off due to the issues with pickup. Credit never appeared on my bill. Monterey site staff rudely told me there was nothing they could do about it. Wouldn't rent here again.

Van was not awful, but the steering wheel was sticky and gross, the cargo area wasn't very clean, and the outside clearly hadn't been cleaned. I tried dropping off the night before and after doing the online return found a sign that no after hours drop offs were available. There are only 5 drop boxes, and one was broken. Why isn't there just a mail slot or something for leaving the key? Since I had already "returned" the van, I had to leave it there but keep the key until the following morning, when I had to go _back_ to the location and return the key in person. Additionally, the online/app experience was crappy. It seemed promising at first, but even after putting in all my personal info, uploading DL photos in the registration process, I had to do it all again on my phone (and more!) when I showed up to pick up the van. With the same damn account. And I _still_ had to go and talk with someone to get the key etc. I've never needed to do this kind of thing when renting cars. Finally, even after returning the van, every time I pass this Uhaul location I get a notification that I can pick up a van. Annoying.

Person who received / inspected returned truck wasn't wearing mask properly (had it entirely below chin) and was not following social distancing, but then he was trying to convince me that Covid-19 was "all fake" and was "created to take down Trump". My review is based on this interaction.

However, I was not pleased that I was originally supposed to pickup the transport trailer from the UHaul location in Hollister by noon, and was contacted at the last minute (just as I was heading out the door to Hollister) and diverted to pickup in Monterey location after 5:00. (The delay was quite disruptive, and forced me into a 3 hour drive mostly in the dark to complete my trip. Moreover, transport trailer did not come equipped with safety chains (of which I was not informed, and did not discover until I was loading the vehicle). I did not have any problems (tire straps held just fine on 340 mile round trip), but I should have been told when I picked up the trailer.

Clean well kept location. We dropped off at night so it was very comforting to have a WELL LIGHTED parking lot. I felt much SAFER knowing and seeing this. It should be advertised for EVERY Uhaul location nationally about lighting for night time drop off.

Check the gas gage to match the contract one is signing. I signed the contract which noted that my tank was full but actually was only 3/8 full. The attendant said to log in and state the issue. I thought this was was not the way to do things.

Checking out the truck and approving the condition was difficult. The photos didn't seem to be current and I couldn't upload new ones. The idea of doing the approval online is fine, but the execution didn't work and ended up being a hassle. Wasted about a half hour messing with it.

Yes, listen to the customer,,, On telephone with U-haul Rep... ask for refund... but just talked about himself and how long he worked for company 40yrs... and being 70 yrs old... But never did anything about me being inconvenience, relocating my reservation destination some 2 hours away of my time making my pick-up for next business date, costing me extra monies... my experience was unsatisfactory and unacceptable. Location was good, but U Haul made me drive 80 miles each way with a rental car from Santa Clara “preferred” location. Made my move, especially during COVID-19 pandemic, a terrible experience with UHaul. The reservation system is misleading on availability of trucks. Even employees were apologizing for the poor business practices. I will make sure that others don't have to go through what I did. I was told that many more U Haul potential customers were also hung out to dry. It cost me a day and an additional night in a hotel. Buyer be ware !! Make sure you read the fine print to make sure you “really“ have a guaranteed reservation. I would recommend Penske and their up front business practices.

I had a confirmed reservation for two trucks. I was sent to three different locations. The Del Monte blvd crew had only the larger of the trucks. So after much ado they managed to change my rental so i could sit my liad between Las Vegas & Arizona.

Our whole experience with Uhaul was not good. Communication between the location and the 1-800 number was almost non existent. We had to give the same information multiple times. Just felt like no one knew anything that was going on. The truck was not comfortable nor did we feel safe in the truck. When we got to our destination, we noticed a leak in the back tire. In such a stressful time of moving it would be nice if the moving company we paid a lot of money to will make things easier and not add to the stress.

I am not happy with the customer service at U-haul. when I made the original reservation: 1st I had to make two separate reservations for a single move, 2nd the representative assured me the pick-up location would be King City, CA; I questioned that information at least 5 times since I knew there was no U-haul dealer in King city, but was assured the trailers would be there and I would be notified a day prior as to pickup location (she lied). When I was notified, one pickup location was in Salinas, CA and the other was in Atascadero, CA, they are more than 100 miles apart and from my house 70 plus miles to Salinas and 50 plus miles to Atascadero. That's a heck of a lot of driving. A representative in Salinas tried to fix the issue with no avail and referred me back to Customer Service. When I finally was able to reach Customer Service (hours on hold listening to we're currently assisting other families for hours) it took quite some time to reach a resolution. That time they at least arranged my trailer pickup in Monterey, CA. That was over 80 miles out of my way (160 miles round trip), at least both units were in a single location. Returning the units was problematic as well; I was told the receiving dealer in Upton, WY would be open on Saturday; they were not. I have no smartphone skills! My daughter with the help of a very helpful young lady at Customer Service walked her through the electronic process for turn-in. Customer Service is hard to fine at U-haul, prices are extreme, enough said, I will not deal with U-haul again.

I rented two different types of dollies and neither one of them were inside of the truck. I was charged regardless of this. Also, I made this reservation over a month in advance for the location nearest to Mountain View California. One day before my pick up was arranged to occur, I received a call from an incredibly rude scheduling assistant named Vanessa who told me my truck would be ready for pick up at 6 PM instead of the early morning pick up I had requested. She also mentioned that my pick up location would be in Monterey California, which is more than 80 miles from where I was located. This was quite frankly the worst customer service experience, and worst customer experience, I have ever experienced. I will never be renting from U-Haul again and I will be spreading the story of my nightmare experience to send customers elsewhere so they aren't taken advantage of by your company.
