I’ve been a lifelong UHaul customer, my great grandfather spent years working for U-Haul so it’s been ingrained in me that U-Haul is the best around. I also especially appreciate how military friendly the company is. I called in to make a reservation for this PCS and the gentleman I spoke to offered me 5 complimentary days, which I gladly accepted. I received a contract stating that my truck was due August 21st. I returned the truck August 17th and the store location is charging me for 7 extra days on the truck and 2 extra days on the auto transporter. How am I being charged extra days for turning it in early? How am I being charged two different number of extra days for equipment that I picked up and dropped off at the same respective locations? How is U-Haul violating its own contract with a customer? I called in to the U-Haul corporate office to get the issue rectified and without looking at the contract the customer service rep dismissed my claim and told me it was because of extra days and that I extended my contract. I did no such thing. I explained to her what my contract said at the time of renting it and that I turned it in early. She took a few moments and then told me she would have a senior manager from the drop off location give me a call back within 72 hours. That’s atrocious customer service. U-Haul violates their own contract and just took money from one of their customers, a military family. And now I have to lie to my Great Grandfather and tell him the move went well and U-Haul did great because he’s 89 and loves U-Haul so much I really don’t want to disappoint him.

Checkout desk needs to be moved to the front door area. Employees and customers have to walk to far. Nice location. Setup inside could be more efficient for all. TO MUCH WALKING.

We booked in Hollister and were not told we had to drive to Monterey for pickup on moving day: hence the ding. Hollister: meh. Monterey: yay!

Late in getting my truck. No notification from corporate regarding change of pickup location or time from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Truck I started with drivers door wouldn’t open. Drove less than a mile away and had the oil light come on. While bringing the the truck back I discovered the AC didn’t work as well, not a good thing across the Southwest deserts, OK and TX in July/August. Was overcharged compared to the internet quoted, I didn’t have my laptop with me and needed the truck so if in the last of the overcharge now. Then today I receive a invoice for the incorrect amount again. WTF? All their correspondence is in a “do not reply” format so you cannot communicate directly with a person to resolve the issues. The 800 number you call is inefficient in conveying information to whoever resolves the problems. For being the biggest moving truck rental they are not very good at customer service. I doubt this will ever be read or posted. I will say most of the employees at the location worked to resolve the issues.

First I wait in a long line when I was scheduled to pick up at 9am and didn’t get any help till 9:45am. Then I was told the ball for the hitch I had already paid for and was supposed pick pick up same day as the trailer, am told that they actually don’t have that one so they charge me extra for a new ball. Then they attach my trailer to my car and tell me that the installer had done it wrong and it’s too low, the trailer wasn’t level. I was left feeling unsure of my long trip and uneasy. When driving off the chains we’re to low and scraping causing sparks. Ive had the worst experience with uhaul and I will never go through this company again.

Somewhat aloof when we called for help finding the business for drop off. Monterey has a difficult street layout. Not helpful in this regard as we came from rural western Nebraska. Thankful for our gps.
