I told a U-haul employee that the gas level in the vehicle was being inaccurately documented---marking the tank fuller than it actually was. The tank was clearly 3/4 full and not 7/8 full as marked. Employee became defensive instead of being more service oriented. Nickle and diming customers doesn't go over well with me!

Well the .89 cents a mile is a bit stupid. When i realized i was charged that. I returned it right then. Thats over kill UHAUL. I can see 20 cents or 25 cents a mile but 89 cents is price gouging in the worst way and will never rent a truck or van for local driving again. I would had kept the truck 2 weeks had it been reasonable. Sorry...i dont do price gouging.

Outstanding customer service!!!! I was able to leave my keys to my BMW at the front desk my son arrived later in the afternoon and drive my car so I wouldn’t have to return. When I returned the truck I left my sunglasses in the truck they called immediately and ensured they were returned. Extremely professional team!

The Monterey U-Haul Center Manager, Alfredo Madrigal - is an excellent example and role model of customer service, professional comportment, compassion, understanding and support. Through both major experiences (5 U-Box containers and then a 26' Uhaul and car dolly) for everything to make it across three states in a timely, safely and cost effective manner - he was my "go-to-guy". Clone Alfredo and never look back because he is Mr. Uhaul!!!

Teach the staff the importance of treating each customer with respect. Don't refuse a person who arrives at 5:00 pm to return a vehicle, and then charge them a $20.00 after hour return fee. Fix your website so that one can easily check in prior to picking up the vehicle, and make it easy to return the vehicle online when done. There are several major glitches in the website which need to fixed. Don't charge fees for after hour drop off's, unless it is beyond the 24 hr. contract time to return the vehicle. The Manager, Alfred, was helpful, but one of his employees, Rodrigo, needs a lot of training in customer service. The woman who took the reservation in the first place was very helpful and pleasant. Cecil Hooks was also helpful, within the constraints of his job (not being allowed to check in a vehicle at 5:00 pm). He was also very professional; in fact, he could teach a class on customer service. I was going to give a poor, 1 star rating, but then I realized that 3 out of 4 people with whom I had dealings there were helpful; so, I raised my rating to 2 stars, below average. This negative rating is exclusively because of this one individual, Rodrigo, who turned this simple transaction into a frustrating mess.
