Customer service at the location was very poor - my check in was not processing and there was no assistance. Eventually (40 minutes later!!) I was somewhat registered (had to use the phone of the person working there), and given a key to a van and told to go find it. I could not find it and had to go get help again, and it turned out the van was frozen in ice on back of lot. A second van was given to me, but the inspection photos wouldn't load, so I had to leave without registering them. Nothing was explained to me, I only knew what to do based on my past experiences.

I didn’t get the hand truck or pad I thought it was in the vehicle it was deducted how ever that was the raggedy vehicle I ever rented the door had been damaged you open it it sounded like it was coming off , pressure light on, on the dash it was saying put air in left tire, the staff said it was checked, I was very uncomfortable driving it, sounded like it need a tune up , mash on the gas it acted like it didnt want to go however the two ladies were very nice and professional very pleasant personality made me feel welcomed. Service your vehicles I’d the door on drivers side is dented in don’t rent it out I’m full figure I had to open it wide and it sounded like it was going to break

The truck had a tire light on dashboard, the checking took me 45min additional time... I did pre online check-in and it was pointless. The site was hardly working. And the price per mile went up. May not use again..

To be frank, the truck i received was very old and it drove like it. It had over 166,000 miles. The truck was clean but old. However, i give this location (Blandensburg Rd, Washington, DC) a 10 out of 10 because of the Staff!! Everyone i encountered there was extremely helpful, friendly and kind. In this day and age, that is rare, rare, rare!! But, the star of the staff was the young black woman from Philadelphia. She was beyond amazing, beyond helpful, and beyond, beyond kind!!! I am 75 years old, and i have rented from U-Haul all over this city. I have never encountered a staff as kind and helpful as this one, and the young black woman from Philadelphia - there are no words!! Thank you, thank you!!! Ronny B. Lancaster

Experienced several issues with the online process during check-in. Staff kept directing me to solve these problems online and seemed to be either unable or unwilling to help me resolve the issues in person. The issue in question was that I had an out of state driver's license (in Washington D.C. of all places) and therefore needed a secondary validation either via having my passport (which I don't carry), my employer (it's a Saturday), a copy of my lease (which I don't have) or an alternate contact. I rented 3 trucks in 2024 and never had to go through this process, and always had very pleasant experiences with U-Haul and their customer service. In this case, it took me 3 attempts with the online system (which kept timing out, even though U-Haul's "chat with agent" function often took several minutes to get back to me). This situation was finally resolved when I requested a call, got a live human being on the phone (kudos to her, she was great) and they were able to release my vehicle. Again, I'm not sure if this process could have been resolved by the human being sitting in front of me the whole time while I struggled through this, but it sure seems like if that person is being paid to be there, they could at the very least be more helpful if they were given access to dispatch the vehicles on site. Otherwise, it's going to give off the aura of ambivalence with great damage to your brand and reputation.

I rented this U-haul truck through self service check-out which is more convenient for me, and although the process was efficient and effective, I encountered problems when the truck was not in the designated areas "(circled in yellow)" on the self check-out instructions where I was to retrieve the truck; And when I proceeded to ask one of the U-Haul employee, the male employee appeared delusional and first requested that I give him the access code to retrieve the key from the key box "even though I was asking him where the truck was because it was not in either of the designated location circled in yellow on the self check-out instructions; It wasn't until after he insisted that I give him the key code that he was able to tell me that the truck was located behind the U-haul store "and of which was not in the designated location where it was supposed to be." I found the situation to be very awkward and unusual. Moreover, there was a black van that appeared to belong to one of the employee and was blocking the entrance from where I was to retrieve the truck behind the U-haul store which was hard for me to squeeze out making sure not to scratch either of the car.

I had not rented a truck in years so i needed help. The man at the desk explained to me that they don't do counter check-in anymore he still was very helpful. He helped me with my rental and I was out the door in no time. When I returned the truck I could not find my rent email so the another employee help me with my return. Everyone at this location is very polite and helpful.

While the UHAUL 1750 Blandensburg Rd personnel and location was great, I was surprised by a charge from this center for Speeding citation $130 after 6+ months from rental completion. Really suspicious of the validity of the citation. If true, why did UHAUL take that long. ? Anything over 90days is not a valid claim.

The Bladensburg store is great, close to my house, and convenient. However, the U-Haul app/check-in is horrible. I actively opted out of contactless check-in because I've done it before and it was a bad experience. The app has connectivity issues and it is always impossible to easily upload the photos. Plus, moving is already stressful, it's not "more convenient" for me to do the damage check. If I say I want to check-in with a staff person I shouldn't have to upload my ID to the app, take pictures of the truck, etc.

The front desk staff who worked at 1750 Bladensburg Rd NE, Washington, DC 20002 on Nov 30- Dec 1 should be dismissed. He failed to perform his duties (after I brought the truck about 5.30pm, he disappeared from his work place till 7pm and didn't close my contract in the system before 7pm, went home, so I was charged for 1 more day, cause I got my receipt only in the morning next day). And this is despite the fact that I sat near his front desk table for an hour and a half that evening! Why? Cause he forgot how customer’s car looks, and he was even unaware that his customer's vehicle was towed from his U-Haul location!!! So my car was towed in 1 day from Uhaul while I was using their truck. Isn’t it crazy??? That front desk member even refused to give me a ride a few blocks away from the Uhaul to the towing company where my car was, despite that he was in no hurry, was simply sitting and eating in his car, leaving unfinished work behind after the end of his work day. I had to get Lyft from Uhaul and pay towing company for getting my car back. Yes, and I got a ticket from police for parking on empty u-haul territory without any signs nearby. Private property??? Hey, wake up, I’m your customer, it’s your problem that you have a plenty of space but no designated area for your customers! And once again, Uhaul calls police on its customers’ cars and tows the customers’ cars! Be aware of this part of the service. I was a customer of different Uhaul locations for several years, but I will never return again, and especially warn others. The service is significantly deteriorating. Previous time, I had to pay extra for not existing day and mileage, and they didn't accept the proof of the miles because my picture seemed blurry to them))), and they didn't accept the proof of the days I used, cause for the 1-way truck they use another measurement of a day, not like others on Earth 24 hours… You guys making everything up, creating hard times for your customers and think we won't notice and react ??? This time I got at least the reimbursement for an extra day, but my car was towed within a single day from U-Haul location, and I got a headache of getting my car back and paying extra a big for me money to towing company and even the police ticket !!! U-Haul should cover all these expenses, not me, cause it’s their shameless and vile treatment of their own clients. And it's insane!!! It feels like every time they’re stealing money and deceiving customers. Just curious, how much is your share in towing company procedures? Oh yeah, and the last but not the least: uhaul has also a procrastination of updating the payment from their customers. I did a payment in early July this year, including 30$ fee for processing by Uhaul, and in the end of November I got a warning that I can’t take a truck cause from their end I haven’t paid them (the payment wasn’t updated. Cool!!! I had to spend in the evening more than 2.5 hours trying to reach them by call, waiting for 40 min during first call, after waiting for call back for more than and hour, and again 40 min to finally get the answer that my payment was made! Bravo! Welcome everyone to Uhaul (((

I have rented many times from U-Haul, and unfortunately, the customer service has always been below average. Except on Saturday!!!!! Oh my Goodness!!!!! The young lady was extremely cordial, helpful and went above and beyond professional!!! She worked with me and several other customers simultaneously, and STILL managed to make each of us feel like she was personally concerned with all of us!!! I even laughed with a guy who was retrieving his truck at the time I was getting inside of my rental. We joked about how awesome she was. THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! Absolutely NO complaints, she was incredible!!!

There was one woman working that morning. She was taking orders, helping to attach hauls, etc. Our first truck the engine light was on. As I started to drive off, after waiting in line, it just cut off. The second truck had a broken sun shade, ripped seats and was filthy. Overall, not a great experience.

Some lights on the dash indicated a tire monitor system issue. But this location was the most helpful after my reserved truck was given away at the chillum location in Hyattsville. I had a truck reserved for 24 hours but there were no trucks in hyattsville. The dc location was fast with getting me the truck I needed to get my move done. Thanks to the dc location I got my move done in 8 hours solo.

My entire experience was wonderful. Everything worked perfectly from the time I picked up the truck until the time I loaded my possessions in the storage facility. Marcellla Jones was extremely helpful in ensuring that I got the right equipment for my move. Amber Hicks was extremely graceful and respectful in ensuring that my possessions were stored properly. This was a hectic day and it could have been very stressful but because of the professionalism, kindness and can do attitude of the entire staff the day ended peaceful and joyful!

The proffesionalism and kindness of the staff varied based on their mood. Getting started was a nightmare yet pressed for time I stayed there. The storage units there are the back halves of older 10ft trucks placed side by side. Being kept outside I should have been able to have 24 access. I am sure the manager tried her best but this location was the location for extra trucks. There is no customer parking available yet they managed to fill every inch with a truck. First few times I had to request to have a truck removed from infront of my storage unit. After that, they avoided parking one infront of my unit. I made it a point to have everyting out within my 30 days. I refused to pay close to $200.00 a month with the service and inconvenience I was put thru. My leaving seemed to have made everyone happy including myself. Again, I am sure the manager did her best. The individual that opened my account was the worst. She showed no signs of wanting to help me. But had no issues helping others that came in after me. I wanted to F******** scream. The guys at this location seemed much more accomidating, friendlier, and very helpful I wish I had gotten names. Not that it matters I hope to never have to go back there again.
