To tell customers up front about the after hours return fee. Also to avoid these fees you have to self check the vehicle in and to show the customer how to do so!!!! To avoid unnecessary charges and confusion!!!!!ELVIRA S.
My initial interactions with the staff were exceptionally good. The day of my pick up of the trailer went very well and the staff even helped me with an issue we found with my car. The close of the first day went smooth as well. HOWEVER, the beginning of the second day gave me cause to call upon much of my leadership and customer relationship training. Dealing with the bearded fat guy wearing the floppy hat, was exceptionally bad. I would have walked out and found another location, if I did not have your trailer and had to move all of the "stuff" on the trailer to a pickup truck. The customer service experience of returning the pickup truck was poor to fair. The Bladensburg location is perfect for my occasional need to rent equipment. It is sad that some of your staff "suck" at customer relations.Arnold M.

I rented a 10â€ U-Haul moving rental truck from the Bladensburg location which was heavily roach infested in both the cargo and incab department of the vehicle I have both actual video recordings and pictures of the infestation. My biggest concern was that my belongings would be infested by the pest I had to shake my items out before moving it into my home this is completely unacceptable I would like to file a formal complaint! I was also Overcharged for the expenses of the rental truck I returned the vehicle at the same fuel odometer reading with pictures however I was charged a fuel fee I called in advance to have my rental duration time extended I would like a full reimbursement for my rental returnDionne M.

The online validation process is unacceptable. It makes zero sense to have to list another person prior to renting a truck. I lost 30 minutes waiting for the process to complete. Rental car companies do not do this. Also, I was scheduled to have a van that was just sold. Somehow, it was still in inventory for rent. While the outdoor staff was friendly and helpful, the indoor staff was rude and dismissive of customer concerns. If it weren't for the outdoor staff, this rating would've been lower. I do not plan on ever renting from Uhaul again. If so, I'd avoid this location.DALE H.

The location was easy to find. The equipment was clean but the unprofessionalism of the staff was most impressive. Even while assisting other customers, the young lady was patient, kind and attentive to everyone. Its a disgrace that you are charged $132.50 for cleaning. The cargo van i had was returned with a lil dirt/dust in back but definitely not a cleaning costing $132.50....This is ridiculous and I will fight it through my bank. There isn't even a note to say why this amount was charged. Just taking money from customers and not explanation. This is theftColin L.
This location regularly only has one person working for checkout. Which means there is almost always a really long lime. I waited an hour to be able to check out my vehicle. Because I complained to the woman working the counter she gave me the van at the very back of the row instead of the one closest. Really poor customer service.Mazi M.

Bad part of town. App would not let me do self return because it did not acknowledge my rental. I called the 800 number and had to wait for at least 20 minute speak with someone. They could not help. It was getting dark and dangerous so I put my keys in drop box. I was charged $20 because I did not do self return. Computer system/App needs to be more robust.thomas G.
WE were told closing was 7:00PM, but they stated closing at 6:45Pm and referred us to the website which proved difficult. The location was a lot further than our resident location; There were many more convenient locations.It wasn't very consumer friendly. the after hours instructions didn't indicate what to do with the blankets that I rented. I left them in the cab of the truck so they wouldn't be stolen.Scott M.
The app was absolutely abysmal. It was very slow and took about 20 minutes to go through the "self check-in". For the return, the app camera would not take a clear photo of the odometer. There were two UHaul personnel that were still onsite and I explained after 10 minutes of trying to get a clear picture that I was having trouble and they told me to try wiping the camera and drove away. I was stuck there for 30 minutes trying to get a clear photo. Eventually went to the UHaul website instead of the app and after about 10 tries got a clear enough photo for uhaul to accept it so I could actually leave. When it asked me how clean the vehicle was and I said clean enough for someone else to use, it asked for further pictures to confirm. At that point it was dark out and I could not get good photos to show the interior so I changed it to "needs cleaning" just so I could finish and finally be allowed to leave. It was hands down the worst checkout experience I have ever had. I was crying because I didn't think I would ever be able to leave as I could not make any progress on the app. I am very frustrated and upset, and annoyed that I was charged extra for cleaning a perfectly clean vehicle. I will never rent another truck from UHaul and will urge everyone I know not to use the self check in service unless they want to be held hostage for an indeterminate amount of time while they are already stressed out about their move.Anya L.

Have a more structured system in place, and employees more willing to help. When I asked for help, all I got was â€œI don't knowâ€ and the employee walked away. No one wanted to take the time to actually listen to the problem I was experiencing with the mobile app. Waited in line for 45 minutes. Didn't get some of the equipment I paid for with my rental. I had to push back my movers reservation because it took an hour to even get my truck.Johanna H.
The person who checked me in was actively on TikTok while helping me. Additionally, we had a long wait to check in and then waited a long time after to receive our dollies, so just really felt like we were not the priority.
