One of the workers was not pleasant AT ALL. Her demeanor was not one that made it seem like she wanted to help with something as basic as helping me understand the process for renting materials. I even witnessed her mumble a smart comment under her breath towards another customer. However, when I went to return items that I purchased the person who assisted me then was pleasant and it was refreshing.Alexis J.
Worst customer service I've ever had. I wanted to confirm our reservation and was left on hold for an hour and a half. We made it halfway through North Carolina before getting answered. The girl on the phone was beyond rude and short about helping. We finally get there and she tells me that they're closed I ask how I can sign in online and she just repeats that they're closed and she can't help me at all. It was 7:03. I asked where I was gonna put a huge truck, moving from Florida to Virginia and she shrugged at me. The next day was no better trying to get checked in. Same girl. Same bad attitude. I was over charged, I never rented a dolly, but was charged for it, I've requested to speak with multiple people about it and haven't heard anything back. The truck leaked therefor the couch and king box spring all got ruined. The truck could barely brake, steering wheel was all over the place. The two girls that work there are rude , nasty to customers and workers. I think one is the manager. The both have short boy hair cuts. They are very rude, bad customer service and treat the employees bad in front of a long line of customers. These two are ruining this uhaul location.RAMEIKAKIA C.

The staff was excellent and helpful. We had a problem with the scheduling and dispatch though. I had reserved a truck for pickup at 10AM. When I arrived, I found out that my pick-up was changed to 5PM, and that I should have received a call from U-Haul, but I never did. The staff was able to find me a different truck, but only after a lengthy wait dealing with U-Haul's scheduling software.KEVINMERRIT M.

The problem is when I was returning The equipment Believing in returning the equipment earlier I was reduced my rate That was not true. Having more gas and the equipment it was gonna reduce my rate. That was not true. I received double charge in my credit card in my Debit card. The representative Told me I was gonna get a rate of 52 cents a mile. And because I'm part of the truck industry I know about mileage and rate and charges. . the rate 52 cents a mileage iwas not true.. I receive a charge environmental fee Which I believe the customer should not pay for that, Because I'm not the owner of the equipment.. It's a two story storage facility with no ramps or elevators or hand trucks. The doors were wide open both times we were there, anyone could have walked in or out. My sister was able to cancel and close the account, whose name was not on the account at all, and nobody even called me to see if I wanted it closed- glad she wasn't somebody's vindictive ex or stalker! I have used uhaul over the last 25 years to move myself, and this was the worst experience I have ever had. Please have requested equipment and certified employees to install equipment. I went to 4 locations (Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and Norfolk) to get the correct equipment because where I was sent did not have the equipment reserved (which caused me to go over the allowed milage and time. The employees were not very helpful. It was as if I was bothering them . The Hampton location was top notch and got me what I needed. I was so greatful.TAMESHATICOLE K.

Ariel was wonderful at this location, BUT after my reservation location was changed the day before my pick up date from my original location, it took me 3 different locations, an hour and half on the phone with the traffic center who by the way as I was on HOLD for over and hour TWICE, I was hung up on both times when giving my reservation number. Long story short the location U-Haul gave me at Auto-packing on Warwick Blvd. DIDNT even keep trucks at that location. Luckily Ariel found me a truck.JOHNKIRKWOOD S.

This location is impossible to get in touch with. They answer and say please hold before even hearing your voice and never take you off hold after that. I have waited to changed a reservation for 27 mins ok hold there before. I also was not advised that the refund for the rentals were sent as a check and the young lady didn't ask for a forwarding address. I emailed and still have not gotten a response back. The truck was clean but the first truck I got had a huge gash in it and has to be switched out. I will not be using this location again.ALANAMARI A.

When I picked up the truck, it only had 1/2 a tank of gas. The cab reeked of cigarette smoke. I do not smoke, and ended up with a headache for most of the drive. Driving the truck was a challenge, it had at least one wheel severely out of balance, and a hard pull to the right. Outside inspections did not show any issues, until I was at my destination and had to turn the wheels hard left to back the truck into the driveway. This revealed that the inner tread of the left front tire was showing threads. This did not happen in the 300 miles I drove. The Hampton Virginia put me in a truck that was not safe to drive, endangering both myself and my wife, and all the belongings in the truck. U-Haul put our lives at risk because they were too lazy to do a safety inspection of the vehicle before it was released for rental! I have pictures of the tire ready for upload.Scott H.

Nobody told me that if I parked my car there while using the Uhaul that it would get trapped in the parking lot for the night. I had to get a ride home from the Uhaul location, a ride to work the next day and a ride back to the uhaul location the next day to pick up my car. Total inconvenience, waste of time and money. When I tried to explain what happened to me to one of the employees, she walked away from me while I was talking to her and said â€œwe try to tell people not to park on that side, but we forget.â€ The whole experience was a nightmare and I won't be back to this location.Jennifer S.

Uhaul has the absolute worst customer service I have ever dealt with, and this facility falls right in line with the poor standard set forth by uhaul. Whether it’s dealing with customer service over the phone, or directly with the facility, Uhaul maintains a consistent level of abysmal customer service. The reason I wouldn’t recommend is one months after I put my things in storage they raised the place. Not a year or six months but one month later. I need storage for six months and budget for six months. I know cost of living etc go up etc. but they only gave three week notice after one month. I’d rented at this facility for 2 years in a row (during the summer). When COVID hit and students were forced to leave campus I again went to this facility. We live in California so I was forced to rent the unit for 14 consecutive months because Hampton did not reopen their campus. Month after month I asked the staff if there were any discounts being offered and was always told no. We wound up going to another storage unit place because the halls for the storage facility were too small to where we coiling maneuver things into the unit. The doors for the 8x10 units are too small, large furniture would be difficult to fit in. The entrance into the units are fairly hidden so we had to ask where the entrance was. The difficulty is in the design --- narrow labyrinthine hallways, low ceilings, limited access points, lack of carts, lack of elevators or lifts to the split-level units -- which made this facility very unwelcoming. The questions you ask above are not adequate for an accurate assessment of this facility. Although the facility was mostly clean and the staff was helpful, the set up of the facility is very poor. The limited number of access points, the narrow passageways, The small doors, the low ceiling, and the stairs required to climb make this a very undesirable storage facility. My only issue is that when the doors were changed, the new keys for the lock weren't mailed right away. I waited almost a year and then had to send a friend who lives locally to pick them up for me. The lack of communication regarding the keys was not what should have happened. Every time I called, someone who tell me that the keys haven't been mailed because they were waiting on people's updated addresses so all the keys could be mailed at once.
