When the moving van and movers we hired arrived at the facility, there was no one there to explain that they had lost power and that the facility was closed. We talked to duke power employees who were fixing the broken transponder and they let us know what had happened. I had to pay an additional $600.00 for the movers to then take my belongings to their Raleigh storage facility to hold until I could find another storage facility. When I called for a refund the next day, no one apologized. I was told, "i had booked the facility for 11-20, if I had just moved in then, this wouldn't have happened." I was very disappointed by the staff's response and lack of empathy. I have received my refund and will not be working with or reccomending u haul in the future.

I reserved a 20' Truck on Sunday, November 15, 2020 for Saturday, November 21 at 8am. When I arrived on the 21st at 8am they did not have the 20' truck that I reserved. I will never recommend this Uhaul location to anyone. I had to pay the mover's extra to make 2 trips on the 15' that I had to rent when I could have gotten everything in the 20' and only made the 1 trip.

Instruct the renter to have a lower hitch ball to make a more level trailer. Our neighbor helped us as we were loading it and gave us a proper instructions on how to hitch balls should be level.

People working there are not courteous, friendly or very professional. They give the attitude that they don't want to be there. They seem to have attitude problems plus when I asked if I had to call the store if I was going to be late and they replied no. But that wasn't true.

The past 2 times I have rented from U-Haul – previously in Winston-Salem, NC and most recently in Durham, NC – the same thing has happened: When I arrive to pickup up the vehicle I had reserved in advance, I am told there is an availability issue. I arrived a few minutes prior to opening at the Durham store on Sunday and was informed that while my utility trailer was available, the pickup truck I had reserved was not – in spite of the fact there were 2 pickups sitting in the lot at that moment. Based on what I could ascertain from the discussion between the guys working behind the counter, one of the employees had apparently told another customer he could rent the truck I had reserved. Upon hearing this I said I would be willing to take a 10-ft truck instead but they said none of those were available either. After much back and forth, they agreed to let me take the pickup truck. But before the transaction could be completed, another employee came into the store and said I could not take the pickup. Then someone else intervened and told Mike, the CSR assisting me, to let me have the pickup after all. Everything worked out fine in the end but the experience nonetheless gives me pause about relying on U-Haul again in the future. When renting a vehicle for a move, it's generally a mission critical situation, meaning I can't just reschedule my move at a moment's notice. I need to know the equipment I reserve will be available and ready to go at the scheduled pickup time – the whole wishy-washy, it's-no-longer-available-game is a deal-breaker. All of that being said, Mike, the CSR at the Durham store, did a fantastic job getting me checked out, hooked up and on the road. He's definitely a keeper! The equipment itself was a real pleasure to use. And the U-Haul app was fantastic – it made reserving and returning the vehicle a breeze. Kudos to the team who created it!

On Saturday mornings, I suggest you have more employees working. The guys there were nice and helpful, but there was never less than 3 people in each line while I was there (for over 1/2 hour...ugh). When people renting equipment, they are typically on a time crunch/schedule.

I've been to several U-Haul dealerships and they were extremely unprofessional. This representative was extremely helpful. He walked with me outside to choose a U-Haul that benefited me the most. He also reassured me that everything will be taken care of THE DAY OF. Great work you guys!

The employees at the store were amazing! Very helpful and really nice! Now the customer service on the phone however was a different story. The lady on the phone was rude, degrading, and almost made take my business elsewhere until the employees at the store showed their kindness. Again, the in store employees = amazing! Phone customer service =terrible!

Called ahead to try and update my reservation to a first floor reservation. Was unable to do it over the phone and had problems initially with the first person I spoke to and gave up on getting a first floor storage. Then TraShawn Chambers got involved and had the situation resolved in no time. Very grateful for his assistance and the assistance of the other employee at the time. He also helped and explained how the facility security worked after we triggered the alarm accidentally. Facility condition was clean and move in was quick and easy. Great overall experience!

The only issue that I had was I was the payment, I was charged 75 dollars when I arrived in store, the truck that they assigned me was not available so they gave me a new truck and then charged me another 40 dollars, For the new truck . then when I returned the truck I was charged another 40 Dollars to drop it off. And I still have not received my refund or was I told that they would be charging me almost 150 dollars for 8 hours and only 14 miles. I then reached out to support via email and still haven't heard anything back .

I had an extremely bad experience at the location that sent me to this location to pickup a utility dolly. The two gentlemen were extremely nice inside and the offered to help me load the dolly. The gentlemen also highlighted the number to call to easily find a location to drop it off at. I appreciated how kind and nice they were compared to the other location that I actually rented the truck from.

Staff are slow in their work, and do not speak clearly. On one trip it took over 10 minutes to process some returned boxes, after I had waited in line. I observe that many staff are often rather unprofessional and not eager to actually work. My rental truck had some problems, but they were helpful each time I returned, and for that I was grateful. And I was very thankful for the man who helped me return the truck a few minutes after closing when I could not figure out how to do it on my phone. This location is very convenient, but I do not feel it is well staffed.

I was told the drop off is 8pm and when I returned the truck at 7:54,the door was lock, I had to use the website to complete the teucknreturn, but I had to register on the site first. I was charged a late fee for getting the truck back even though I wasn't late getting the truck back, I just could get the info into the website

It took two months for them to process my move out. In that two months, I was hassled with mail, emails, and phone calls regarding rent that I wasn’t responsible for and statements regarding lien on my property (which had been moved out before my one free month was even up). Uhaul support told me they’d contacted the manager three times on my behalf but the issue was not resolved until I got a phone call from a representative asking me when I was going to pay the back rent and fees. After I told her I’d moved out months ago and submitted a move out request before my free month was over, she promptly said she would remove me from the system.

The instructions to access the building worked perfectly, but the doors didn’t work. Additionally, there was still a lock on my unit when I arrived at at 7:50pm. This is 10 minutes before they close. When I went to the front, they asked me if I had ever been there before. I said no I reserved online. I can only imagine they’re supposed to keep track of those with online move-ins to unlock units before tenants arrive. I was told by the employee, “Word of advice, don’t arrive 10 minutes before we close.” He went and unlocked the lock I said Thank you and he said nothing in return. Additionally, the climate in that side was reading 88 which is outside the range they promise for climate controlled storage. It’s supposed to be maintained from 75-85 degrees. Finally, they promise you a free lock in the unit. There was no lock provided. Online process was easy, but this facility is a disaster. I DO NOT recommend anyone move into this location.

The gentleman who helped us check in ("Y" Caldwell) was extremely helpful and positive and polite. The woman who reserved the storage rental over the phone for me reserved one that was half the size of what we needed, and you can imagine our dismay after traveling 5 states! "Y" was very quick to assure us that he would take care of it and fix the situation. He was compassionate to our frustration over the situation and understanding in our apologies that our upset was not directed at him. He worked diligently to find us 2 storage units that were relatively close to each other, took his time to walk us through how to get there, including highlighting a map and providing us with it AND taking us personally there. He took the time to explain that the codes take 24 hours to upload before they stop setting off the alarm, how to enter the codes, the best doors to unload and come through, and what the best locks were for us to get. As we were in the midst of unloading the truck with helpers and movers and figuring out what was going into each unit, "Y" took the time to walk over to us to let us know his shift was ending and to see how we were doing and if there was anything we needed or anything further he could do for us. I asked a few questions about returning the truck while we were still there and their hours and he took the time to not only answer those questions but to just chat and laugh a bit. When I asked about if we needed to extend our storage a bit, he assured me that I could just call him and he would handle it for me. He truly is an exemplary employee who is not only focused on the customer's needs, but clearly on the entire customer experience. He exhibited excellence and, in my humble opinion, deserves a promotion and a raise. (While he was taking care of us, I also watched him help his coworkers with issues and support his manager all without missing a beat.)

Not the best set up in terms of getting things into storage units that are down winding hallways. As there was only one way in or out, it was difficult if multiple people were there at one time moving. I had to wait about 3 minutes for other people to move out of the way to be able to get my stuff in. For units that are farther from the entrances, there should be more entrances put in for easier access to them.

I needed a small storage unit and a van to move my son out of an apartment until he knows where he's going next. Jarron was the general manager, Jeremiah helped me, and there were at least one or two other people working. They were all incredibly professional and courteous, and incredibly aware of how stressed people are now, because of covid-19. I overheard several phone calls and they were always polite and friendly with those customers, and with the in-person customers they were as well, and offered all the protections (distancing, hand sanitizer, etc) to keep everyone safe. But beyond that, they worked REALLY WELL together as a team. It was obvious that they liked and respected each other, communicated well, and were primarily concerned with making sure the customers got what they wanted. Would absolutely use again.

UHaul put on a lock, could not find the key, and had to cut it off. Second lock added with same results. I had to pay removal fee. I said they lost it. Called me a liar. Later found it.

I experienced water damage in my unit and the staff we're not helpful. It happened on a Saturday and all they said was to call on Monday for a manager. I called each day for a week with no response.

There was a mix-up between the central U-Haul office and the local storage unit. The staff on site were able to resolve the matter when I came to confirm the rental, in spite of computer confusion.
