Customer service was great. The fellow that helped us with the rental and setup was funny and professional. Question - Why are there NO jacks on the 6 x 12 enclosed trailers.? We loaded the trailer and wanted to separate the vehicles but we're unable to once it's loaded.! Also, we had to drive from the Okanagan to Vancouver and back on the Coquihalla and there is no spare tire.? Everything worked wellâ€¦ But those two things stand out. Thank youPhilip C.

Very frustrating for people with no smart phone. We were unable indicate previous damage on van, because had to use a smartphone. No telephone # for roadside assistance, just a web site, what do you do if you don't have internet.. Filling up the gas tank to 3/8 full, impossible to gauge, s/b full to full. Really need a work around for internet, & smart phone, limits who can use this service. We probably would not use for any distant moves because we do not have a smart phone. Could not recommend Uhaul because of the reliance of internet/smartphone requirement, not everyone has a smartphone & internet connection.ORVILLE M.

Good staff in general and some are more friendly than others. Been renting here for like 11 years now. Finally got more trucks! That relieved some sighs of more recent past! Trucks do not get fixed that much though and this time the coffee cup holder got busted by some other renter and now useless! I did report it though and hope it does get fixed! You have a bunch of very young adults, who are under staffed and not supported. The company of U-haul is failing its customers because it's failing its employees. If you are going to make them work with unsuitable training and having them feel they must apologize to every customer. Then at least pay them more. The first truck I got had no windshield wiper blade on it. I got a new truck after that, but the second truck had a flashing caution light and upon inspection it was found that the tires needed air as well. After this we got a third truck which we couldn't even find because it was still being cleaned. I just feel like it was very disorganized. There were other trucks standing there that I could have gotten. I should not have to do back and forth with someone for 40mins just to get a truck that i had already reserved online. Shouldn't they be checking these trucks before they loan it out. On too of that, the truck we got did not have a rearview mirror unlike the other trucks. I know i have got trucks with a camera view rear view mirror before, but this truck didn't have a mirror at all. The gas on the truck was also way below half the tank that it is supposed to be. If we hadn't noticed this before, we might have had to fill extra gas. I understand that some days can be busy, but these are just easy things that can be easily resolved if someone just does a thorough check before signing the trucks outPatty R.

I love how focussed and specific your survey is, ensuring you don't get negative responses. My experience began on a sour point when I was unable to obtain a truck in Langley BC or in 20 other locations nearby, for a mid month, mid week move from Langley to Kelowna. If all your units are in Calgary, I'd recommend hiring someone to deliver logistics support and to return vehicles to population centres. The actual rental was fine, truck was clean and performed well. My major concern was the experience at the UHaul centre on return, specifically the self storage part of your business. I reserved a 10x10 for May 4, and went in on the 6 th to get my location and paperwork. I am in process of selling my home and did not have anything to place in the unit at that time. However when I arrived on the 12th of May at 5:30 pm, I discovered an U-Haul branded lock on my storage locker. I called the local number to get assistance but was put through to the general reservation queue. A little perturbed, I then went out , walked all around the building, to get back to the reservation office. The clerk at the check in desk asked about lock with tape (no tape) and then said he'd send someone in to check the lock. My partner, waiting by the locker, saw no-one, by the time I returned. So I called the local number again, waited in queue, asked to be dialed into the office directly, which got me back into the general queue again. So back to the main reservation office again. And was told that â€œsomeone â€œ had put a lock on my unit, they wouldn't cut it off for fear of staff injury. I demanded another unit, at this point frustrated, and was given one half the size , but at least on the same building. I went to return to my locker, but my entry code failed as I was not â€œchecked inâ€. I returned to the desk FOR THE THIRD TIME, furious, at 6:20 pm, and had the clerk check me in. I asked if they might be willing to stay open a bit later because I still needed to check in my rented truck. Nope, close at 7, no exceptions. So I stormed back into the locker, flew through the unload process, and managed to be complete by 6:45. Then the same clerk challenged me on the fuel not being returned to the proper level. Fortunately I had taken photos of the tank and mileage before and after. U Haul needs to train customer service , because if you didn't have an effective monopoly on the self moving industry, you'd be out of business.Ken J.

The staff were great - Vaughn in particular. The trailer lights were not working - there were no other trailers available. Vaughn went out and found the damaged wires and repaired. I was in line for 45 minutes plus - then the trailer lights were not working. It took 2-1/2 hrs for me at u-Haul. I appreciate the help I received to get it operational as I desperately needed the trailer. But, not a good look overall.John M.

The service I got was exceptional. From the time I arrived to pick up the trailer to the drop off the staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. The only thing I would like to see improved is the length of time spent on hold. I called the local number on 3 occasions and was on hold over 10 mins each time, and ended hanging up. I reserved a 12' trailer. I called two days before to confirm I'd get a 12' trailer. When I arrived, they didn't have my 12' trailer! They gave me an 8' instead. I asked if it was really 8' as I need to haul plywood with it, they assured me it was. Turns out it's not. With the edge bumper inside the trailer we loose two inches. That meant I had to cut my plywood down to size! Not satisfied with U-Haul and will look for other options first next time.Curtis A.

Your computer system needs a huge update. It took 45 mins just to pick up the trailer. Staff was VERY competent and great at their jobs but having to use personal cell phones to upload id and call colleagues about location of the rental is insane. This was a hassle, arrived at 9:00 am to pick up rental and didn't leave until 9:30. Check in was a pain, the automated systems didn't work well, the representative had no customer service skills at all. Couldn't handle a problem with another customer which delayed everyone else. The drivers license could have been uploaded in advance. Was asked for a second contact person , which I didn't have so I gave my sister's name, who lives in another province and has no idea what I am doing day to day. i don't even know if I gave the correct number. I specifically turned down the CDW when reserving the rental on-line but upon review of my invoice found it included. Didn't go to argue when returning the truck as there was no one around and the line up was three deep to the only representative. Wasn't worth my time to wait around so enjoy the extra $15,00 U-Haul charged me. Overall the pickup was good but the customer service experience was just terrible.Tom A.

When we found out after we paid the $25 upgrade fee to a bigger unit, we asked to keep the smaller unit and come back another day to make the move when there was ample time. He said he was unable to reverse it and he would give us until Tuesday. We tried to rush to get the first load to the new unit until we got to it and it reeked of beer and mold and was all wet. We asked once again to keep the smaller unit as this one was unfit. The paper I was given, along with my online account both said that the access was until 10pm. We arrived at 10 min to 7 one night and were told you close at 7. I would suggest that you cross off the times on the paper people are given as well as have the times changed on the online accounts. Our things were in the back of our truck and trailer in the pissing rain all night and lots of things were ruined. Also I was told I had to buy one of your locks, which was fine, but you did not have any new ones so I paid for a used one. When I put the lock on with no problem however when attempting to open it the next day, it would not work. I was told that I had to hire and pay a locksmith out of my own pocket to gain access to my locker because the locker I bought from you did not work. Once I had the lock removed I went to go buy a new lock from Home Depot in the style that I was told was mandatory. When I came back to put it on, my locker was open and contents moved. I understand that I should have locked it however I had a hard time finding the type of lock. When we came back our locker was wide open. I was also not able to get my money back from the broken lock that was sold to me. I really have no time or energy to continue discussing this as it is a very stressful time. When I moved into my storage unit the rental agent was unable to pull up my reservation despite the fact that he was reading the reservation number off an email from uhaul on my phone. Only solution was to rent me a bigger unit than I reserved and I had to pay the extra monthly fees for it. 1) Staff put an extra lock in my storage unit even when the monthly rent was being withdrawn from my credit card every month 2) The excuse was that I did not have a proper lock in my unit, although the lock we used was a uHaul branded and recommended lock 3) When I complained about this I was informed that they had left a telephone message advising me to change the lock to a round style lock to get in line with security guidelines 4) When we rented the unit those locks were out of stock and on the recommendation of the staff at the time we used an alternative uHaul lock 5) I was unable to change the lock even if I wanted to because I was in Calgary at the time of the message and I would not have spent $550 for a trip to Kelowna just to change the lock. 6) I had a very poor experience with your staff this time not only because of this, but because uHaul had messed up my trailer reservation for Monday, September 27 and given me notice just a day before that my trailer was a 4X8 instead of the 5X8 I had reserved in August. I will avoid using Uhual even again. Worst company I've ever dealt with. To clarify, staff were friendly and tried to help within their limited means. I was rented a vehicle storage stall that wasn't even available as it was covered in construction debris. I walked around and around trying to find my spot, not a single person available to help me. Finally another customer helped me out. I did finally find a staff member to help me but he was reluctant to do so (but still friendly once we started walking and talking). A complaint I have is that every time I used the bathroom, it was always dirty with garbage overflow, dirty floors and toilet & the sink always had gross stuff in it. The times I’d gone to my unit there was a young woman pushing a cleaning cart, yet I seen her spending more time texting and talking on her phone then pushing a broom. Renting a truck is easy and convenient but storage with uhaul is not. It’s overpriced, the access hours are inaccurate, the elevator and bathroom were gross, and they double charged my boyfriends credit card for his storage unit and then locked him out of it anyways(for apparently not paying). It took an hour to get someone to come down to unlock it while we were trying to move. Staff were friendly but they’re clearly understaffed. Every single time we’ve gone to get something from our units in the 3 months we rented for, either the gate was locked early or the floors were being polished so we were denied access to our specific units. I don’t know why they need to polish the floors so often but don’t clean the elevator or bathroom. We pay close to $200 EACH for our units and to be locked out 2 hours early after driving half an hour to our belongings is disappointing and frustrating. We can’t even call to see if we would have access because it takes an hour long hold to reach someone at the store. After Andrew left the Kelowna Enterprise way location everything went down hill and fast. A middle aged bald man who does hitch installs seemed to run the show. I inquired and told I would get a free month because I wanted to stay with uhaul and move my belongings to port moody location. Port moody would not honor it and your location would not give me the free month instead. It was noted on my file and still no employee would honor it. A representative was supposed to.call me last week and did not. I was mislead and lied to about the free month. I decided to just move my stuff to a different company's storage. First time I entered, I stood in line for 5 minutes or so. 3 gentlemen had no mask on, an employee in a red shirt, just had his mouth covered and was talking to another person on the other side of the glass, that seemed like an employee off duty doing some inquiring of his own with his mask off. I politely mentioned the masks, they all gave me an excuses of different reasons then put them on. I mentioned it was mandated and they agreed to that statement and apologized. One member of the staff initially refused to honor the one free month with a truck rental because we were renting two units after renting two trucks. He finally relented. We were told the new manager would call us. Two days went by and no call. Called again and were told manager would call us. No call ever came so we had to go in to the facility to make sure the free month was actually in place. This is a hard review to write because the facility is great and offers a drive in, drop off experience that is perfect no matter what the weather. For the most part the staff are wonderful. Management is another story. We found the managers to be rude, profit motivated and difficult to deal with. When we moved in the facility was out of padlocks and asked us to use our own. We did. We checked back in a few days to see if the locks were in and they weren't. A few days later we received notice that our lock had been cut off and a UHaul lock installed on our unit. They took the time to send an email but didn't take the time to call us and let us know, instead choosing to ruin our perfectly good lock taken from our storage shed. This is just one example of the issues we had with the facility. We also had to fight to get our free month that came with renting a truck. We rented a moving truck in our former city and received a free month for that. When we rented a second truck from this location to finish up our move they absolutely did not want to give us another free month on a second unit. We had a very negative experience with trying to pick up a trailer in Sparwood, the trailer malfunctioned and we couldn't bring all of our items with us. The managemebt was rude and unapologetic. When we arrived at Uhaul in Kelowna on Enterprise Way we were greeted with great customer service and support by a very understanding young man, which made up for the negative experience the day before. Also was charged for this unit AFTER it was emptied and we closed the contract (or the staff told us it was closed). One woman there is competent, but the manager and front staff don't know what they are doing and have no people skills. When asked a question they don't know they sit and stare at you blankly until you walk away. Less than impressed and will be telling friends NOT TO EVER USE THIS LOCATION FOR ANY REASON. had the same difficulties while renting trucks from this location in the past. Regarding having our stuff in storage, the experience was good, the only issue is the u-haul charging me 2 units for the whole month of December when I used them for just a few days. 1 unit I used for 1 week in December after payment and the second unit for 3 days after payment. I thought I would have a refund for the remind of the month but I didn't. I paid the units online for December's month even thou I knew that we were using just for a few days, but that's what honest people do, pay their bills, right? However, the units are sitting empty now, u-haul took the whole monthly payment and will rent the same units and will make more money! That's the only issue that I have! Front office staff are friendly and helpful, but elusive. Not uncommon to stand in the front for 10 minutes without seeing a staff member, or to wait 20 minutes in a line to speak to one of them. On the flip side, every time I spoke to the GM (Andrew) I had a bad experience. He's a horrible little man with the wrong attitude for dealing with people, be they staff or customers. For two years in a row now I have been told I had storage for my boat. As I go to bring my boat in they say that my reservation confirmation was no good as the manager had just given ours places away. The fact that I got it resolved after hours of working on it myself and pushing the staff to get something done. Shows a lack of management and organizational skills. I feel that head office or corporate or whoever may have given all our spots away dealt with the customers extremely inappropriately. I believe for all the inconveniences and the sheer lack of trust your company shows. That they would give some kind of gratification or credit to the customer like myself. I am happy to be in the storage unit with my boat but by far had to work very hard to get it. The staff that was on site and Kelowna worked very hard to try and help me out. When I signed up I was not asked if I wanted the protection plan. Then I was called a liar for saying that I wasn't offered the protection plan. My main concern is the difficult access to the storage parking spaces in the warehouse. Very inconvenient to have to go into the office, line up, then ask someone to open the back door. When I first rented the storage space over a year ago, I was told that they would be putting in some kind of key fob or card access system. This never happened. The monthly storage was fine but I left because they are renovating the place and both of my car covers are totally ruined because they are caked on with dust and dirt... They are ruined and I need new ones. Second of all, the day I’m checking out, no one notices my wife and I and are 2 year old daughter are still in the compound getting our vehicle to leave and they locked us in. There is no one around to let us out as they closed with us still in the place! And you can’t call anyone because you end up getting people in the states as they are an American company. From the start it was a bad experience. Was told one door code, tried it multiple times, didn’t work! Waited for over an hour to get in to the storage unit. On move out I noticed quite a bit of mouse droppings in my storage unit. This was quite alarming to me as we moved from out of province and used your storage facility to keep our house contained basically. All our precious items were there and to know that mice were all inside and around our belongings, really made us very uncomfortable. Being in the food industry I am quite aware of “hantavirus” and it’s effects to humans through inhalation of the droppings. We had to clean and sanitize all items that we took from the storage unit after finding the traces of mouse droppings. This took up a lot of our time. We were more than unhappy with this and when I asked your staff about it, they responded with “did you have insurance?”.Unfortunately we did not purchase the optional insurance when renting the unit. We did not realize this was a problem and if I had known your facility was infested with mice, I wouldn’t have done buisness there let alone bought insurance. Your staff needs to be better trained and perhaps educated on hantavirus and it’s effects. To me insurance is for things like , theft, fire, floods. Not mice!! My vehicle was parked in the storage facility on Oct 16/19 to Apr 14/20. The storage space couldn't have been dirtier when I picked up my van. It is the dirtiest it has ever been since owning it for the past 21 years. Everything in that facility was covered with thick construction dust. Every customer that used/using this place deserves a refund or rebate for the treatment their vehicles have suffered. The owner should be ashamed of how their customers have been treated. I would like to talk to anyone from head office regarding my experience this winter. Last fall I rented a 40’ space for my boat to be parked in over the winter as I do every year. I was delayed by a month to move my boat in my spot as someone else was using the spot to park in even so I had already paid for the space. Every time I went to check if the unit was ready it wasn’t and in turn I paid for a month of storage $326 and wasn’t able to use the space. I asked the manager to let the people know that were parked in my spot that I would like them to pay for that month, he said he would look into it but he never called me back. Over the winter there was significant construction in the building and extreme amounts of dirt and dust in the building. Between my boat and my car I had just over $500000 worth of stuff in the unit which was completely covered in an inch of dirt and dust. I have a huge cleaning bill now due to the construction that was done inside the building over the winter it would have been nice to have been advised this was happening so myself and everyone else storing stuff could’ve made other arrangements or at least cover our possessions up to avoid this mess.
