I rent a 5 x 9 trailer twice a year from UHaul. It's usually around 50$. This time because UHauls lack of having adequate stock, I was charged almost four times what I normally pay. When I mentioned this to my sales person there was really no good reason for the drastic increase. That will be the last time I rent from Uhaul nor will I recommend you to anyone needing a rental vehicle.MARC M.

Employee Estevan & Tyler were outstanding and I felt really went out of their way to accommodate and go above & beyond for me. However, if employee Todd Whitaker was under my employ, I would terminate him immediately. Not only did he go out of his way to try and publicly humiliate Tyler and another employee of which I do not know their name - but Todd Whitaker -- under the guise of training another staff member -- installed a u-haul purchased trailer hitch ball incorrectly that by the grace of God did not result in a horrific traffic accident. Upon returning the rented auto transport trailer at the U-Haul location in Lakeside, AZ - the ball that Mr. Whitaker had installed was nearly about to fall off the hitch receiver. The ball was installed incorrectly according to the staff at the Lakeside, AZ location and they were appalled. If you see that Mr. Todd Whitaker is about to install equipment to your vehicle immediately ask for someone else to do it. Not only is Mr. Whitaker abundantly arrogant, he has no idea what he is doing and gets joy out of embarrassing other staff and shows no concern for your safety or the safety of other motorists.RYAN G.

I reserved a 20 ft truck due to a tight location and when I arrived to pick it up there was only a 26 ft truck available. This is the second time I have had this issue with Uhaul but since I had hired help coming I had no choice but to take what was available.GARY A.
When renting the pick up truck or van, maybe take the mileage charge out. You are losing customers to Lowe's and Home Depot because they do not charge mileage. Other than that, I love the employees at this location! They are always friendly and fun!LORI G.

The gas gauge is way off. After driving for 7 miles I saw the 1/4 tank of gas is gone. So I put in more than 8 gallons of gas and it was still not full. This is when I realized the gas gauge had issues. What is worse is when I brought it up to the manager and asked how the gas mileage is only 1 mile per galleon, the manager said I may have too much heavy load. I was moving from one place to another. I have no piano or treadmill or any heavy gym equipment. I was astonished to find I was paying $3 more on top of $.99 per mile. It was like a taxi service.YU D.
Representative told us the unit was to the right out of the office, our unit was not in there. I went back into the office for help as we had not seen another busilding when we drove in. I waited in line 10 minutes and we started to drive away when we saw the other building and went in to see the unit. The alarm went off when we cut the lock string to see the unit. Bad experience. Young man didn't know what he was doing. Took a whole long time- maybe 45 minutes or so to get my trailer paperwork processed and I had pre-registered online. Sat forever looking between his phone and computer until finally asking for help a few times, but didn't understand what he was doing. He'd do one thing he was shown and then back to the waiting game again. Thankfully another associate finished process. Young man took me to get trailer. I got the hitch out and removed the cotter pin, put it on my car. He didn't offer to help. I couldn't get the cotter pin in and asked for help. He didn't seem to know or be strong enough to get the pin in but finally got it. He didn't tighten the ball. Chains were long enough to clang and hit the ground. I tightened it up later. I showed him how to tighten the ball- said he'd been there for a week. I am a 62 year old woman and not real strong. He didn't offer to help or check it for tightness. He had forgotten to bring the blankets to the trailer. Later on, while I was on slow road and had gone over a speed bump the hitch bounced off and slid under my car . Thankfully no harm was done, but it could have caused a HUGE accident on a busy road. Another man tightened it for me and the length of that screw went down about at least a half or 3/4 inch. This kid didn't seem like he didn't want to be there and would rather be paying computer games. He certainly didn't take an interest in his job. He stood there expecting me to do all of the heavy lifting. I don't think he even knows how to pull a trailer or even cares. He acted like he didn't care about anything- was only there for a paycheck.Kathleen R.

When we picked up our Uhaul truck, it was pretty dirty. The interior was dusty & not very well maintained. It wasn't until we were driving on the freeway, with the sun behind us, that we realized we couldn't see in the side mirrors. The mirrors were so gross & dirty that all we could see was blurred dirt as the sun's rays hit the mirror. This became a huge potential hazard while on the freeway. My husband was driving & I had to hang my body out of the passenger side window to let him know if the next lane was clear. When we returned the truck after hours, I tried to provide this information in the app. Because I stated that the truck should be cleaned before another family rented it, I was going to be charged a $25.00 cleaning fee? What?! The truck should totally be cleaned for safety, but not due to our use. I simply don't think another family should have to hang out a window to see if they can transfer lanes. The staff at this location was kind & helpful; but the person in charge of maintaining the fleet needs to step up his or her game. Something as simple as cleaning a mirror doesn't take much effort: however, it is a huge safety measure that shouldn't be overlooked.MELISSA B.

The people were very rude with poor attitudes and did not communicate. I stood there for nearly 10 minutes staring at the computer and I had to ask if there was an issue before being told there was an issue with my account (which I told them when I walked in). This is after trying to pickup at the location on Wilbur rd and not being able to because the location decided not to open at 7am when they were supposed to. I waited until 7:42 (overall a terrible company and I would not recommend the location at 1230 N Gilbert Rd Gilbert, AZ 85234 or the location at 1128 S Wilbur Mesa, AZ 85210)ALEXIS R.
I was charged $6 for gas because the fuel gage was not pinned to the end, but I drove only 8 miles and brought it back with the gage in the exact spot in was when I picked up the truck. That took only $2 to cover the 8 miles. The kid that brought the truck back in would not budge on the subject and said that I should have taken a picture of the gage. How would I even think to do that. The level of customer service was horrible and my experience was horrible. Your employee could not keep is mask up and my wife had to ask him to step back from our vehicle. The only way I will consider using U Haul again will be if I get a refund on the $6. The facility itself was fine. Fairly clean, just a lot of dead bugs on the ground. The staff seems to be a bunch of younger less customer service oriented people. Too many times when I had questions, I had to deal with shrugs, cell phone usage and a general “you’re bothering me” attitude. I would not recommend this facility for that reason only. The doors getting into my storage unit.... alaways disabked. Never opened fully last 4 months I paid to keep my stuff there? Dehabilitating? No... unless I needed a lot of stuff that day. Staff...? I rented a truck to get in there. And one to get out. Absolutely atrocious. No smiles. No “welcome in!” Nothing. They all walk (miserably slow) and can easily tell they hate their jobs. I’d recommend this place because it is clean, close to my home, and easily accessible (kind of). There are some homeless people living in there because they have a unit, they showed me their card. The guy and gal were in the bathroom for long periods of time. I observed this twice and when I asked them from outside the bathroom to please come out, that I needed to use the facilities, they stayed in for another half hour. I had to put all items that I was rearranging in the storage back in and lock it, then go to the front office to use theirs. Anyone can enter thru the doors and I also saw a man, twice come to check what there was in the area where you can pick up items that people don't want. I don't think he had a unit. You should really review your policy for entrance into the storage buildings. It is a security problem and it worried me that my storage would be broken into. I did get into a verbal confrontation with the male homeless guy. I brought up this problem with the front office and they said that they were going to monitor it and take care of the problem. I would definitely rent vehicles from them again as I really liked the people working there. Especially Jack, who came to my rescue when I confronted the homeless man.Tina C. | Overall Experience

Upon our arrival we informed the manager, Misty Ward that we would have a POD being delivered which we would unload but it wouldn't be able to be picked up until the next day. She said, "No problem, we do that all the time." By the time the POD arrived, Misty had gone home and another employee informed us that the POD had to be picked up that day. That employee then called Misty at home and was told that Misty never told us it would be ok to be picked up the next morning which was a bold faced lie. We had to cancel send the POD back and pay for another month of POD storage which is more than the unit at your facility would have cost us. It was the last day that I was available as I was going out of town for 6 weeks. We canceled the storage unit and are in the process of finding another storage facility. I would have preferred your location since it's close but I don't want to do business with people that lie to me. If I can get a free month on the unit I will consider renting a unit from your location. If not I will go elsewhere and since your facility is where I get my propane for my grill I will also take that business elsewhere.Gary P. | Overall Experience
