The vehicle we picked up wreaked of marijuana and was covered in dried mud. We were informed by another location that because the location on Kingshighway Blvd is next to a school and because the vehicles are not locked, that the kids sit in the cars and smoke before and after school. The smell was so bad I used an entire can of air freshener and had to drive with the windows opened the whole way. It made me physically sick. It is clear the vehicle was not maintained or ever cleaned. U-Haul should be ashamed of themselves for allowing such poor maintenance of vehicles. It is embarrassing. I would never recommend this location and feel some form of compensation should be approved.

The car hauler we rented was in very poor shape and we narrowly avoided a catastrophic failure that could have easily resulted in loss of property or life. The strap used to fasten the car’s tire to the hauler ripped in half as I pulled on it to free it from the ratchet. This was far less strain that it would be under had the car been attached. Unfortunately, this occurred after our truck had been loaded and we were minutes away from leaving town on a multi-state journey. As I talked with a U-Haul representative over the phone desperately trying to get it resolved quickly, one of my family members couldn’t wait any longer for me to get off the phone and had to leave without me being able to give them a proper goodbye. While this wasn’t something U-Haul had control over, but it was a real world consequence of the series of events. There wasn’t a roadside technician available for at least 60-90 minutes and that didn’t include the time it would take to make the repair. I noted the jack stand was missing one of the two bolts involved with putting the armature down, but wasn’t overly concerned at that moment since I had no intention of leaving my car on it and detaching it from the truck. The rubber fastener for the fender was ripped about halfway through, so I mentioned that might be worth replacing if a technician came out to meet me. After I listed all of those additional items, U-Haul recommended I bring the hauler to their in-town shop that was a 16-minute drive from my location. The truck was given to me with only 1/4 tank of gas. Between driving to my storage unit, to the place I was storing it overnight, to the shop, and then back to meet my family and pets waiting, I had used up most of that gas, and I was in a panic about running out. The truck was a 20’ truck and with the hauler, it was something like 30’+, and I’m not a seasoned trailer driver. I intended to go to a truck stop out of town to fill up, but I was forced to navigate a tighter city parking lot than I ever would have chosen. Luckily, I was able to get in and out without any issues worth mentioning, but it all added to the overall stress and anxiety. The mechanics at the U-Haul garage were excellent. They gave the trailer a look over and something was said suggesting it was overdue for its preventative maintenance. As they replaced the straps, primary bolt on the jack, and fender fastener, they also replaced at least one tire (I think I actually saw two get replaced), replaced the frame chains which (I assume) had been ground down from dragging on the ground until they were about 25% of their original thickness, and they replaced the bushings on both sides that connect the leaf springs. The bushings were so worn they were oblong and what looked like twice as wide as they were originally. The bolts used to fasten on the bushings were also worn thin and had lost all of their threads in spots. When I told them how far I was intending to drive, their body language and tone suggested to me it would have been dangerous to have taken my car on the hauler as it was (besides the obvious strap that ripped off in my hand). All of this resulted in about a three-hour delay leaving town ahead of a 13-hour drive. We got to our destination much later than intended and absolutely frazzled after white-knuckling most of the drive, fearful of what else could have gone wrong.

I made a reservation for a 20’ truck, a regular dolly, an appliance dolly, two furniture dollies, and a dozen moving blankets. When I got to this pick up location at 8 AM in the morning (they open at 7:00am). I did mobile pick up by the way when I got to my truck I opened up the back. None of what I had reserved was in the back of the truck. I went inside to get the key and the guy inside said oh we don’t have any equipment. Why allow a customer to reserve a bunch of moving equipment and then not have any at the location where I reserved the equipment. The guy inside also told me since I was doing mobile check-in to notate that they were not in the truck so when I had the option on the app to select if the items were in the back of the truck, I selected no but U-Haul still decided to charge me for all all five items. So not only was my move made way harder by U-Haul. They are also charging me for equipment I never received. Plus this almost absolutely useless company will charge you $20 extra if you want an employee of U-Haul to actually help you at any of their locations.

There was an issue with the reservation as it had been put on a watch due to an earlier reservation. You had charged me for the rental but apparently "not pressed the button" to correct it. You had not warned me of the issue when I made this reservation and wasted time at the location getting this fixed. The staff were however helpful and apologetic but clearly not empowered by the company to fix the issue. A corporate not local problem.

The inside of the back of the truck reeked of weed. There were blunt ashes and a swisher sweet wrapper left inside the truck. Now I have to spend alot of time and money getting that disgusting smell out of my mattress, clothes, and kids items. Will not return to this location.

Then another agent told me to go back and ask for a different truck. So the agent had two opportunities to give me a dolly and did not do that. The location "upgraded me" from a 20' truck to a 26' truck without telling me. After loading 80% of my stuff, I realized it was far too empty. I had to tow a car as well and was headed 1200 miles. So, a 26' would have been a major problem. I called, found out I was upgraded, and had to drive 30 minutes to a different location, move all my stuff from 1 truck to another, and then I was set. Extreme inconvenience. On top of all that, when I went back the following day to pick up the auto transporter, my car was damaged as I loaded it on to the transporter, and I was working directly with a U haul employee. Now I have to open an insurance claim.

Yes, overall the equipment was clean, however, the windshield, both inside and outside were very dirty. I didnt think much about it until heading west into the sunset and suddenly I could see nothing.
Cleaning the outside with the spray and wipers of course helped but still there was a film on the inside that made it difficult to see.

Main issue is that the swipe access from the loading dock is glitchy. That is the biggest issue coming and going. Some of the staff were great, I especially loved Kaley and Ciara who were super helpful, warm and supportive!

I reserved what the phone rep recommended for a 1br/2br, got to the facility and found out that it was too small. Upon the General Manager’s recommendation I had to spend $30 more than expected. The issue is, I could have reserved a facility that was nicer, more room and cost less than what I paid. I am extreme dissatisfied that I had to pay $115 for this ridiculous and extremely dirty facility. On a scale from 1-10, it’s a solid 1. In addition, I miss my flight yesterday due to the manager telling me that instead of getting the storage on Tuesday as reserved, he recommended, it would be better to get it Wednesday which gave me very little time to turnaround everything. Consequently, I would have known on Wednesday it was not what I wanted and go elsewhere.

I've had one or two storage units here for seven years, and have been happy with staff, with unit access, occasional trailer rental, and moving carts. Location is certainly very convenient. If we weren't relocating our living situation in the area, we'd still be storing there.

I spent 2 long hours being totally mislead, frustrated. I missed and had to cancel everything cause your employees couldn't come to agreement how to handle my situation. According to the moving company you all recommended, I was given the wrong size truck. It turned out to be a total disaster for me. Then after all that !!! They informed me I can't get any of my money back ($200) for 3-5 business days. So I'm very upset. I'm a senior citizen, and I have a health condition that doesn't allow me to go through this without causing a flare up.

Unit leaked and there was damage to boxes. I told the employee on the 6th when I moved out that I didn't need the unit any longer. On the 11th I received a call from an employee asking if I moved out. I said yes and that I told them I was 5 days earlier. She said the manager told her to refund the month, however I hadn't been charged. She said ok and thanked me. The next morning I woke to a charge of $99.95 on my debit card. I called the location and the manager said that he remembered me and agreed that he was refunding the rent. After over 40 minutes on the call, the manager advised that he was refunding the rent but he was having software issues and would call me back in 10 minutes. It's been if over 48 hours and no call back and no refund. I've called the last two days and can't get anyone to answer.

On the move in the mgr was very helpful in trying to locate a diff unit as the larger size we were quoted on the phone turned out not to be available, he did comp us an extra month for free as this was an emergency situation and being from out of state.
Check out was super easy and quick. I started to use the app but it froze up so went to front desk and the owner was the one that checked me out. Overall an great experience.

They hooked me up when I needed it the most and when I couldn't agree to the whole agreement and get back in time. They let me extend my time. And they didn't get upset with me. When I was late period they were very friendly, helpful. Jamar helped me so much. And his manager was so nice period even though she was in a rush. It’s so dirty and if I find a cockroach in my storage unit when I move out, I will be filing a formal complaint…. They locked me out of my personal possessions almost immediately, because I “didn’t use the proper type of padlock.” This was after I had been assured that I could use my own lock, the exact one I used. They offered to give me a free lock… and never did. Multiple times, my key card would not let me into the building during the posted access hours and I was told to just try again later. I lost my job at one point, requested access to my unit so that I could remove an item that I desperately needed at the time, and they refused to let me in. I have now been stripped of the vast majority of all my possessions. All my son’s baby memorabilia, family heirlooms, my furniture, all of the audio engineering equipment I had purchased over several decades. I pretty much hate this company with every beat of my heart. What a predatory scam. It feels like UHaul gleefully ripped my soul out of my body and is now asking whether I enjoyed it.

The U-Haul experience for almost 2 years was a "Class Act." I'm serious, even the payment by phone system. They changed managers in the middle of our stay and it didn't lose any of the excellence. It does not get better....I don't know about anyone else, but U-Haul did me and my family right. Thank you so much.

The unit said it was inspected November 14 but the floor is dirty and I currently laid tarp down to make sure my boxes wouldn’t be dirty . Just making sure it’s mopped out would’ve been great .

For the most part, things were great. I was given a first responder discount which was awesome, but the lights in my unit burned out and I was told it was my responsibility to change the lights in the unit. That didn’t sit well with me. When I changed cards, apparently the system didn’t take the autopay I came in to set up and I was notified for nearly a year, which is terrible, but Rhonda was awesome and worked with me to get it figured out. So overall a very mixed bag.

Upon arrival, the floor of the unit was sticky which at request staff attempted to clean up and provided a blanket to cover the parts of the floor that weren't able to clean. There also was not a working light inside the unit.

My unit was burglarized while I was overseas, apparently along with several other units, but I was never notified and only discovered upon return that roughly half of my belongings had been stolen. I purchased insurance on this unit, but even if I should receive the full insurance payment, it won’t be enough to replace all the stolen appliances. Additionally, of the boxes that remained, several were water-damaged, in spite of the fact that this facility was meant to be temperature and humidity controlled.

The lady who helped me was great. She gave me her full and undefined attention even though they had a lot going on. The first unit I reserved the door would not latch so I had to get the next size storage unit. The next unit had 2 locks on it so unfortunately I was not able to have that unit. Third unit was perfect. The only down fall is I had to get a bigger unit so it cost me more then I expected.

I did not like the second floor the lights did not turn on and it look like all the storage units was old and dirty. I was forced to buy two units because the elevators are super small and my unit was on the 6 floor I could not fit couches and a few other items on the elevator witch made me have to rent a second unit just for the items in the basement so now I’m paying 134 per month for one unit on the 6 floor and 80 for another on the basement just because the elevator was to small

The staff at this storage facility were all helpful, and made move in day as easy as possible despite my circumstances. However, the building is a little outdated, and the elevators are very small. The staff here tried their best to find a new solution for us, but ultimately the moving crew that I hired had to carry my 2-piece sectional up 6 flights of stairs, which caused my moving cost to be much more expensive than I had planned (and hard labor for the movers).
** If you have large pieces to store I would suggest a facility with a freight elevator. **
Aside from the elevator size, I would recommend this facility, overall a clean and secure center.

Experience was fantastic except the elevators smell like someone regularly uses it as a toilet. Or perhaps someone left a dirty diaper in there for a week or so before it was found? Heck, maybe it’s still there, hidden? Or maybe someone homeless folk had an accident in his britches before I arrived? Idk what it was, but it smells awful. You know when you curl your lip up to cover your nostrils like Mr. Ed, the talking horse? It’s guaranteed to make you do that.
