The parking lot serves as payed parking for local bars in a neighborhood prejudice people would be uncomfortable in. I was comfortable in the situation and the staff was great and helpful. It's just surprising when the person who helps you into the parking lot is an off-duty police officer with a compact assault rifle strapped over their shoulder. This location may be best restricted to day time drop off on nights bars are popular if you are concerned with customers connecting the Uhaul brand with negative images.Justin A.

When your app says skip the line and get your key - mean that. I first waited 20 min for someone to verify my license through the app, then had to go wait and wait, and wait for someone to take 2 seconds to hand me a key. If you have people using an app to be quick and contactless, then you need to have the keys in a lockbox or somewhere the customer can access them without going in. I will never come to this location again. It's dirty and disgusting. There are other companies to rent trucks from and those are where I'll go if I need one again.John R.

The staff is not attentive nor can you get anyone to answer the phone. I scheduled a van on Wednesday to move my stuff out. I had an email confirmation for pick up on Saturday the 1st of may. I get there at my scheduled pick up time only to be told that a van isn’t available. The worker stated they left a voice mail but my voicemail is not set up for anyone to leave one so she was lying on top of that. Thank you Abraham who has been the ONLY helpful worker there during my whole STORAGE time. I will not recommend this facility to ANYONE. I couldn’t wait to be done with this location. It was a piece of cake August 28 but after renting for 7 months u would think after renting from Boston to Charlotte then to Atlanta the general manager wouldn't have a nasty disposition. The entire experience was awful. When I arrived to pick up the truck, there were no employees in the office. The entire pickup too two hours. I waited with another customer for at least twenty minutes. A few employees walked by periodically with food or obvious on break and went in the back or left the building. Finally one acknowledged that we were all waiting and went to find someone to help us. He walked by multiple times visibly frustrated that he could not find anyone to help us. Finally one gentleman came out to help us. He was very nice but more issues arose. He did not have the 15 foot truck I had reserved. He offered me a the larger truck, 20 feet for the same price. I had rented 10 foot originally but had changed it to 15. I was concerned 10 would be too small but knew 15 would be too big. 20 was giant and way too big, but I was on a time constraint and had no choice but to accept the larger truck. I asked about the gas difference and he assured me that it was not a big difference, I do not know the gas mileage of the 15 foot but the 20 food did not get the gas mileage I found on the U-Haul website, I spent an excessive amount on gas because it burned gas very quickly. I had rented a furniture dolly but he did not have one, I said this was fine. He gave me the keys and I went out to look at the truck. The truck was filthy, it was not swept out, there were numerous dents and marks on it that were not marked, there was also a giant dent in the side. The photos on the app were taken in the dark and did not show any characteristics of the truck. When I received the rental agreement email, I discovered I had still been charged for the furniture dolly I did not receive. Also the gas gauge said 5/8 of a tank when there was only half. I'm convinced they did not look at the truck at all when the last person turned it in. The webpage crashed when I was uploading the photos of the truck. I was unable to provide photos. I went back inside to have this corrected and to mention my concerns about the truck. The line was extremely long, another gentleman saw me and picked me out of line to ask what I needed. I mentioned the furniture dolly I was charged for and he said they would remove it when I came back. I said I was going one way, he said oh well they'll remove it on the other side. I said but they have no record saying I did not receive the dolly. They will charge me when I show up without it. He said they'd take it off for me. He did offer me a furniture dolly that they sell and said I could have it for free and they'd remove the rented one from my agreement. They did not do that. Also, uhaul advertised that I should have received $50 because they did not have the truck I'd reserved, this did not happen. The truck was way too large and I wasted extra time having to carefully wrap my items, stack them carefully and strap them down to avoid sliding around in the giant truck. I had to call U-Haul to extend the reservation which they did for free for three extra days. When I went to return the U-Haul, there were more issues that stemmed from this location. The gas gauge when I picked up the truck said half a tank. I returned it with half a tank. They attempted to charge me $17 for the needle with difference since the paperwork said 5/8 of a tank. They also mentioned the furniture dolly. I explained everything but there is nothing they could do because they are just one location in the franchise. They called corporate and they said they had to contact this location to fix it. This does not answer the phone. My option was to pay for the gas and furniture dolly and attempt to fight this location later or contact them and attempt to resolve it. After over an hour of attempting to contact this location or corporate again, the other location finally gave up and said they'd deal with it. I was finally able to contact this location on Facebook and they said they could not fix it until it was returned. I paid nearly $800 for this rental plus gas. This rental was a complete mess and I will likely take my business elsewhere when I need to rent a truck.JESSICA S.
Clean the vehicle. Check the vehicle for damage. The driver side mirror had been glued on poorly. The cab seemed to not have been cleaned in months. I switched to another vehicle that was less dirty. The gas gauge was not a half a tank, but I charged for not returning at half of a tank of gas. COVID-19 is alive and well. Why is not cleaning a vehicle between renters an option? When we got back to the Peters Street location we were told that I would be charged after we called and notified them of the furniture . You know what they say about first impressions? Well If I went by that I would NOT be going back, BUT I know it can be better. The details of my 1st visit are very long so I'll just hit the highlights. 1.: The e-mail I received said that I could AVOID the desk & go right to my storage using my "Access Code", WRONG. 2.: I find my storage room & there is a lock on it. 3.: The door to my storage room is opened and low & behold someones stuff is in there, so the room is NOT even ready for me to use, I have to wait for it to be cleared out. 4.: The e-mail I received said that a lock would be in my storage room, well of course there was no lock in the room. 5.: The "check-in" & "check-out" process was NOT explained to me when I was given my key card. The very nice young lady that cleared out the storage room explained all that to me, if she hadn't I wouldn't have known that I had to check-out before I left the building or I wouldn't be able to get in on my next visit. I made the reservation online, when I arrived to the store I was given the wrong information. They could not do separate payments. They ran my card once, realized a mistake. Then tried to run my card again after they said they credited the first one but then said I'm sorry sir your card declined. I asked why and they said they had to run it again for the new transaction and I said your first run hasn't been credited back to me, it's only been a minute since you ran the first one. Then I was told by the general manager I would have to call my bank. Who told me to contact the merchant who charged the amount. They knew my reservation was for a long trip, over 1500 miles through 7 states some desert. The trailer I was given had bad tires. I encountered two separate blow outs two consecutive days! I would not recommend this location to any friend and depending on how U-Haul would like to compensate for my troubles, I'd like to talk to the media and the better business bureau and submit pictures of the equipment that was given.Brandon S.
Very slow and poor customer service. They did not care that I was there. The "24/7" checkin option was not set up when I got there. Rented hand truck was not in vehicle. When I returned the vehicle, it was 10 minutes after closing. Lots of workers standing around outside. As soon as they saw me, they all went inside and left me with no instruction. One I know was the "general manager" because he checked me in. I used the after hours self return option on my phone, but was still charged the $20 "service fee". It's not the $20, would have been glad to pay it, but you would think at least the manager would have taken the time to tell me what to do. I am in management and have to work late all the time, I sure wouldn't leave a customer like that. They close at 7:00, I pulled in at 7:08. Never will return to this location. Need more staff or at least more services offered online or via a kiosk or something that can be completed without too much associate assistance: There also needs to be more areas to unload...I spent most of my time just waiting in line to ask a simple question...the vehicle was hard to find & there wasn't a working map on the site or one posted in the facility I could follow to get to my storage unit. The access hours also end at 7:00 which is inconvenient because I work until 5-6:00pm and that provides no time to unload into a unit. Horrible hours considering there are other storage places that let you access YOUR OWN STORAGE THAT YOU PAY FOR at any time I wish I'd known about before renting a storage unit here. I used to like using this location but other than renting equipment, it's actually become way more inconvenient and still expensive... The staff at this location is HORRIBLE. Maria in specific needs to be retrained on customer service because she lacks professionalism in the workplace. They legitimately are on their personal phone as they are assisting customers, which shows how much they care for my business. If it wasn’t for my pod being sent to this location I would have my storage somewhere else. I got there 30 minutes prior to opening and wasn’t able to fully access my unit until quarter till 10 (this location opens at 9) because though I had made an appointment to come the following morning to empty my pod and move my things into storage I still had to wait an additional 10 minutes to get the previous lock taken off. The store opens on the weekend with ONE person and a line backed up with over 10 people waiting. There’s employees that spend more time flirting with you then relaying information. I came back the following Day ready to move my things out of the pod into my permanent storage ñ only to find out that the storage unit required a specific lock, one that I did not possess. Thankfully for Abraham and Tony I was able to move my things in to the storage after having numerous incidents that were affecting my entry all which were on the fault of the staff members, miscommunication, and lack of professionalism. The employee grabbed my personal belongings and started taking them off my dolly that I had chosen to use and then took the dolly because he wanted to use the one I had. Your system seems to be top notch but there are a few glaring problems. I had a lot of questions and it seemed like i was alway on hold in Phoenix for a long time. I tried to get a hitch installed and the hitch did not arrive in time even though I had ordered it 2 weeks in advance. The local usual dealer did not seem aware or concerned that i was renting a trailer the next day. It sometime seemed like the local people on the ground didn’t really know what was going on. When closing our unit, the staff had locked us out saying our payment was overdue, when in fact our balance was zero as we were on autopay. When we notified office staff, they were apologetic and asked a team member to unlock the unit. No one had the lock for the key that Uhaul placed on our unit, and we sat for two hours outside of our locked storage unit waiting to empty it’s contents, until someone finally found the right key. No one accepted responsibility and everyone blamed one another. No sense of urgency to fix the problem that was caused by Uhaul was in place by the employees, and we had to keep coming down every 20 minutes to ask for an update. I moved into a unit for no more than a month, a week or two to be exact. I told the person on staff at the moment that I was vacating the unit and called back to reconfirm and that everything was taken care of, that was August 2019. Though staff eventually answered questions and resolved issues, my overall experience with the customer service here was poor. I was there Friday, Saturday and Sunday - two out of three days my experience was severely lacking or an inconvenience to my move out from my apartment. On Friday the manager was rude and impatient in communication with me. First, he seemed frustrated because he couldn’t hear me through my mask, then he got an attitude while gesturing for me to hand him my card, despite the card machine being within my reach. There was simply a better way for a employee to talk to a customer, let alone Black man talk to a Black woman, or human being to a human being. On Saturday morning, there were so many people in line that we were there for an hour which delayed our move. Saturday evening when I arrived to move my stuff in, we had a delay with the elevator and finding our unit because some of the lights were out. We also stumbled upon a leak in the ceiling. When we found it, my units door was broken and there was stuff still inside. The staff member transferred me to another unit which still had a lock on it. She then showed us some other units with issues such as they had roach motels in them or weren’t climate controlled. She did inform us ahead of time of the latter. All out of her control but clearly the system needs to be updated with accurate info. We had been up and down the elevators 5 times already with heavy furniture and she informed us that the building was about to shut down and lock us in so we gave up and tried to get a refund. The machine wouldn’t not issue the refund despite her attempts. She was nice enough to extend the truck rental. Sunday, the manager did end up canceling our contract and refunding the money which I appreciate but I was already soured on my experiencia. He was slightly more polite on Sunday but again, first impressions are lasting. Self entitled Mgr and customer service representative. I asked for a floor-level access storage, paid for it and when I was walked to my unit, I realize it’s the wrong one. No issue I say to myself since we all make mistakes but when I returned to counter there was no apology from CSR or Mgr. I was put in a unit that had a pillar in it and that took away at least 1 sq foot of space in a 5x5 when there was one totally empty in front It. I very calmly and matter-of-factly explained the dilemma and requested the change for 2nd time in a row. The manger most of clearly knew that unit because he made no fuss but didn’t apologize either. The attitude was surprisingly arrogant and self entitled. As a home owner of a loft next door I was excited about supporting a neighbor business but I can’t and won’t recommend our local uhaul and will make that know in our HOA and Nextdoor platform.
