U-Haul has charged my credit card an extra 428.00which was not my fault. I have called 2 times to get this rectified with no FIX. Your truck was broken and picked up the u boxes after my 30 days was up so I was charged 428.00 for the 4 boxes. Unfair!!! Other than that service was goodrich F.

The door to back in and unload is broken. My rental included a lock that was supposed to be in the rental unit, and it was not, so I had to drive to another location to get the lock. There are so many keypads to enter your access code, and it gets confusing on which one to use when you're doing this for the first time.Mary H. | Online Move In
When I first reserved a space, I reserved an 8 x 10 unit. When I went to reserve this unit, I did so at the facility on Broadway. I was told that I was all set went over to the building on Erie blvd. Once I was at the building, I could not get in. I needed a card to swipe in order to unlock. I had to drive back to Broadway where I just was to get my card and garage door clicker. Why nobody told me that I needed a key card to get in when I originally reserved it I do not know. Now I am back at the unit. I get inside and walk up to my unit. There was a lock on it. I was able to call uhaul from the facility through an intercom devised so someone could come and unlock it for me. A gentleman came and unlocked it and went on his way. I opened my storage unit and realized that I was given the wrong size. I had ordered an 8 x 10 but was given something closer to 5 x 10. I had to drive back over to Broadway to resolve this issue. I paid for an 8 x 10 but there were none available at that facility. They were able to upgrade me to a 10 x 10 for the cost of the 8 x 10. Since this was an upgrade they had to adjust the pricing every single month or I would receive a late notice for the balance leftover that I was not supposed to pay. I had to go down to Broadway to pay and make sure that I was not going to have a late notice or have a lock put on my unit which was inconvenient. One month they did put a lock on my unit so I had to have them remove it for me. After going back and fourth I was finally able to start filling my storage unit. A little over a month later I went back to start taking things out. I had moved in was without a home for a month which is why I used this unit. My apartment flooded and I had to get everything out as soon as possible to avoid damages. I open this unit and it was immediately obvious that there was a mouse problem. Mouse droppings on every surface and evidence of mice going through my belongings all over the place. As I began to unpack and move my things I had to go through every single box and open everything up to go through to make sure that I was not bringing mice into my new home. I made sure to Lysol every surface that had evidence of mouse droppings. Going through my belongings I would find dead mice and droppings constantly. Many of my belongings had multiple dead mice inside of boxes. I did find a few mice that were still alive that would scurry away or jump out of a box but for the most part they were dead. I can’t say how many dead mice I found, but it was certainly more than anyone would want to see. Overall I probably lost $1000 or more worth of my belongings because of the damage done by these mice. I know I was not the only one facing this issue as I had multiple interactions with other people renting from this unit talking to me about this when they came to look at their things. A couple of months later I came back to finish up my moving. Still many dead mice through my belongings but it looks like they put traps about every 50 feet or so in the hallways so they knew that there was an infestation. Pieces of art and other sentimental things were thrown in the dump. I had to pay someone $250 to come help me remove all of my belongings that were ruined because there was so much and I was unable to move all of this by myself, not to mention how disgusting it was. I originally called the central ave number to order a ubox. when we went there to load they said there are no boxes here, you need to go to Eerie blvd. That would have been helpful to know in advance. They also did not tell us that the scheduled time defaults to noon and you need to go in and schedule a time to load your own box, so we were turned away and had to come back the next day. that would have also been very helpful to know in advance.Claudia S.
This was just a delivery of stored UBoxes, but the driver was all that could be asked - used judgement on placement, traffic situation etc. as easy as it could realistically be.Fred E.
Other than the logistics needing to be changed constantly and not being able to just do so easily, this went off without too much of a hitch. Ordering was easy, but putting in specific dates in-between origin drop off and destination drop off was hard. I wanted to be able to have the boxes picked up as soon as I loaded them, and that wasn't available and I had to be on uhauls predetermined schedule which was 1 week from drop off to pickup. We had the containers loaded in 2 days. Then the containers sat in destination city for several days before shipping to origin city. I was lucky to not incur a second month's rent due to this. Contents arrived safely and nothing damaged other than 1 thing that I packed poorly. Once boxes were delivered to new property they at first only gave us 1 day to unload 3 containers. (Not possible) I had to call in and wait on hold for 30 minutes to get the empty container pickup date changed. Overall I would recommend this service as it was less money than others (packrat, pods, etc) but I would say make sure to communicate dates effectively before committing. Also, in albany, NY. Jamie the ubox truck driver was absolutely the most helpful person in the entire procedure. She assisted above and beyond in getting everything on a better timeline than uhaul customers support could and actually saved the entire move as I was ready to cancel the entire thing previous to speaking to her. She deserves a raise and commendation for actually caring about how the customers are serviced and does a great job.david J.

This has been the WORST customer service experience I have ever had. No one at U-Haul knows anything about U-Box. The movers that I hired via the u-haul website never showed up. I have told everyone I know to NOT get a U-Box, pay the extra money and get a Pod. U-haul really needs to train their staff on U-Box and take "The Big Move" moving company off of their website because they don't even answer their phone. Horrible experience! Your customer support for my local branch was rude and condescending. My U-Box was supposed to made available on 8/15 at 11am and they were not available. I had moving help and a box truck ready to help me unload the box, but we were left with nothing but a truck we cant load, rude phone employees and not an ounce of remorse or willingness to remedy the situation. I then needed to take a day off of work on Monday 8/16 to tow and unload the boxes without assistance, then I found that I had some damaged items. What was I to expect when the U-Box is basically 6 pieces of plywood, I'll take responsibility for not doing proper research on that. There were only 1 or 2 people working in the warehouse when I arrived (but they were fantastic), which further shows the incompetence of the micky mouse operation that is the Albany, NY U-Haul storage facility. I don't blame employees for not wanting to work for this location. On top of this, I was charged for another month's storage for the boxes that were unloaded and returned the day before the renewal date. I see there is no issue when it comes to taking my money, but when it comes to having one iota of respect for your customers, you are severely lacking. I have told anyone who will listen about my experience with U-Haul. My closest friends and family *will not* be using U-Haul for any services. 0/10 would recommend.Matt C.

It was the first of the month so there were a lot of people moving in or out of the facility using just one elevator. I was trying to move in and get the truck back for a certain time but it was not happening so, I called the facility, they understood the situation and extended my return time. There is no one available to check you in and give you an access card. You have to drive a mile and a half away to another facility to get those things. I wouldn’t have even known this if it weren’t for another customers help. My storage units door was stuck open. There was no one to help. The very general questions above really do not reflex our overall experience. Each and every time we needed to access our unit, our passcode and key card did not work despite us receiving a new key card the first day of rental. It required a manager giving us his access code on one occasion, calling the office on several occasions and, usually, getting your employee, Melissa, to give us access. She was a godsend. Each time we contacted the office on Broadway in Albany, NY, we were assured they had corrected the problem. When we were moving out on 11/16/20, it required Rob to give us access. In order to get the type of facility that we wanted for our items, we traveled 1 1/2 hours each way each time. The inability to smoothly access our unit made this a tedious and an unacceptable task. We followed all instructions given to us, accepted the reassurance and explanations but knew we would run into difficulties accessing our unit. Rating below average because first i received a storage unit number that did not exist. After receiving a new unit upon arrival the unit was occupied.I tried calling the office at 630 pm and received no answer so had to drive back to the main office to find out the phones were not operating and add more mileage to my truck rental which put me over me expected mileage for my rental. Hopefully i will be compensated for the inconvenience of having to drive back and forth twice to correct the storage issue. U-Haul containers were a good choice. The agent recommended two but after looking at the containers, I decided I needed three. However, movinghelp.com was the worst experience. they did not make the adjustment when I added a container. they had me listed at two not three for both loading and unloading. You could not call to make the revision. Also my bedroom dresser leg was damaged when loaded from New York. The unloaders in Austin had to make three trips from the U-Haul office because their trailers could only accommodate one container at a time. I would recommend using MY Movers but not Movinghelp.com. However, I would also recommend using U-haul containers when moving but not MovingHelp.com for the loader and unloaders.Cynthia C.

I will never rent a ubox again and will make sure I tell everyone not to. The moving help was awful. My furniture is DESTROYED. These boxes are WAY too small. And when I called for delivery, which I didn't realize I had to do until my boxes didn't show up on my promised delivery date, there was nothing available in my area until December! I rented these, they didnt fit anything, the moving help jammed what they could in. I still ended up needing not only a 10ft but an additional 20ft truck to move out. Then needed to get a truck to pick up the boxes and deliver 1 at a time! Not to mention the initial mocing help was cancelled and The company was so confused. I called and apparently they didnt service my area. This was a nightmare and I must have spent over $5000 on the whole thing. only to be charged for extra mileage and gas on the last one. The GOOD: The driver who dropped off, picked up, and did the final delivery of our four UBoxes was courteous, professional, highly skilled with complicated machinery, had excellent communication skills and was the only redeeming point of a completely broken moving/storage experience. The BAD: Everything else! I understand that we're in the middle of a pandemic. Yet there was absolutely no communication from the scheduling/reservation teams, and even though we scheduled our reservation a MONTH in advance, every single scheduled delivery & pickup date was rescheduled by U-Haul in their system, SILENTLY, with no notification to us of change. Unless we called/went online to try to discover what was going on, we would have had no clue as to the actual dates U-Haul was setting up for actual delivery/pickup! The only reason we've got our things now is that my husband had to call a supervisor and complain for THREE DAYS IN A ROW to fix the lost final delivery date & missing tracking in the storage system of two of our four reserved Uboxes. That your online system did not reflect the fact that you had four Uboxes we'd reserved and only showed two, even though a supervisor could clearly see all four were at the warehouse, means your tracking system that is customer facing is broken & unreliable. Not exactly what someone wants to see when you are holding all their worldly items in your warehouse! Thank goodness we have moved so often that we knew to pad time into the delivery schedule, otherwise the experience would have been a complete moving disaster. I have reached out to customer service by phone and email multiple times. Original delivery date changed by UHaul, not a big deal. Drop off date, no one came I called around 4pm and spoke with someone who said delivery driver should have called me the night before to set up a time. After investigating, someone was on vacation or out sick and a new guy was training. Sorry for the mix up. Inconvenient as I took the day off from work for delivery. Drop off planed for the next day Between 8 and 10am, said driver would call to confirm. No confirmation call. Called Raina, UHaul manager I spoke with previously. No call back for hours. Text from driver saying he would be making delivery shortly. When he didn't show up after 30 minutes I messaged for ETA, one hour and 15 minutes. I had to take that day off from work as well to be home for delivery. Driver asked to use my bathroom. Not a huge deal as I had friends over to help me unload pods. Otherwise I would not have let him in. Overall miserable experience. Communication was terrible. I would not use or recommend this service. Not satisfied with reaching out to customer service to voice concerns, response was always that someone would get back to me. Seldom happened.stacie C.

I spoke to the uhaul representative in Portland and asked them to schedule delivery to my house- not to the Albany uhaul- in July 22nd. They said it was all set. Then when I got to Schenectady and called about my delivery they said no delivery had been scheduled and they couldn't deliver until August 3rd. I agreed reluctantly to pay for moving help and the uhaul representative I was talking to charges 180 to my credit card and said OMG movers would deliver my stuff by the next day. The next day I called because no movers came and they said the movers had not actually been hired correctly and refunded my money. Then I talked to another uhaul representative who said a regional manager would be calling me to try and fix this error and get my stuff to me. No one ever called me back and in the end I had to hire private movers to go find my unit and bring it to me. I am extremely disappointed in uhaul and will never be using these services again if this issue is not somehow remediedDakota T.

I have been trying since Monday to get my boxes scheduled for delivery back to me and I can not get anyone to contact me back to set this up. I tried to set this up when I had the boxes originally dropped off at my old residence and was told I couldn't until the packed boxes were in U-Hauls possession. I need my boxes dropped off to my new house Monday July 6 and fear this will not happen. I have called the local general manager, I have left emails, I have called the 1-800 number and no one can it done. I even had to get in my car and drive to the uhaul location and not customer service member could figure out how to schedule the drop off. Boxes were lost, not store together. Always had trouble locating all my boxes. No one ever knew what was going on. After finally receiving my boxes late I was charged for storage. Even though I actually had my boxes emptied and returned. It was the worse experience I've had with UHaul. Now waiting for my refund...its been a nightmare.Sandra L.

You need to make it easier on the weekend to reach people. i was told to go to the Erie Blvd location to emply the U-box that someone would be there. i was having a problem and it took forever to get someone to respond to the bell and i think he came from the other building not the erie office. not his fault he did help with my problem after i spoke to someone on the telephone, thank youSunny D.

Driver was super nice and helpful. Getting my box when it arrived in St. Louis was terrible. I called the 1-800 number to schedule the box to be dropped off it was supposed to arrive on April 18th but it never showed up. I called the store and they assured me the driver was still out and I would get my box, I called a second time and I was told it would arrive on Sunday the 19th but it never showed up. I got an automatic email during the week suggesting I schedule my delivery. I once again called the 1-800 number it was scheduled for April 25. I was told I would get a phone call letting me know when they would arrive on the 25th. Nothing, no phone call on Saturday April 25 I went outside at 10 AM and the Ubox was there but I have no idea when it arrived. Then, it was supposed to be picked up Monday, April 27 it was never picked up. I did get a call on Tuesday asking if I was ready for the box to be picked up. The whole experience in St. Louis was dreadful compared to the excellent service I received in Vermont. It made me question my choice in using uhaul. Moving cross country during a pandemic not knowing when or if my belongings would show up was very stressful, when one phone call could have changed the whole situation.carrie F.

U-Haul was extremely easy to deal with. The U-Boxes made moving very convenient. Staff was very helpful, with fantastic communication and service. There were plenty of furniture pads. Our key card did not work. After contacting the main office via intercom, we were let in by the attendant who was most helpful. We were advised that a free lock was already in our unit. It was not necessary to purchase one so we returned to the main building returned and received a refund for the lock and was given a new key card. The only issue I had was I very specifically requested the pick-up date as 3/1 when I booked the Uhaul pod, but it somehow automatically changed to 3/2 later after booking, which is a weekday when I didn't have help moving. Have a manager call the customer back when requested. I still never received a call back after I requested several times. We were charged transactions that were not authorized and experienced extremely poor communication and customer service. We will NEVER use U-HAUL again and will be sure to tell all of our friends/family how poor this experience truly was!!!Joshua B.

The U-Haul U-Box Delivery Drivers (Jamie & Henri) were ***excellent***. They were both very helpful and were a true value-add this process and service The U-Haul U-Box service is very exciting. I will be recommending it to others. However, it seems to be a new process that is not integrated smoothly with the U-Haul on-line system. The U-Haul drivers provided me with more helpful information than I could find on the site. In fact, in order to contract the U-Haul U-Box service, I had to work through three sale agents on the phone. The third agent was also ***excellent*** and was instrumental in getting this process started. I have already had people asking me about the U-Boxes for their moving needs. Where should I direct them ? I want to give them the individual names of my drivers and the sales agent. I would be happy to talk with you about my experience. In summary, the u-boxes were critical for my successful moving experience. The u-haul IT system and other tech support systems need to catch up.John C.
Ubox pickup in Mountain view never made it to Mountain view. I had to drive to Santa Clara. Everyone in NY was excellent. In CA, communication was awful.Chris C.
