We were returning the truck after around 10pm on Friday night. The entrance to the building was blocked. There was no way to find return location. No staff on site. Drop off box location not marked anywhere in the parking area. Very stressful return experience.

Carrier did not pick up my box at origin. Delayed arrival. S Capitol did not honor box access reservation. Delayed move. Terrible experience and without significant incentive would not use again or recommend.

Luke S.Most people who rent moving vehicles drive to the location. This location had no parking for customers. In fact I was informed that if I parked on the premises I would be towed. Therefore I had to park in two-hour parking on the street for a 4 hour project. And by doing so risk getting a $100 ticket. I chose to use the phone check in and there was no Email notification to do so. I finally figured out that I had to log in to perform this process. Furthermore, I was not made aware that a reference person had to be contacted in order to finally get approval. This was difficult because people don't like to answer calls from numbers they don't recognize. Finally, if you offer phone check in then the customer should not have to go to the counter to get the keys for the vehicle. What's the purpose of giving some the option of self check in but then requiring them to seek out a representative to obtain the key. This caused me precious time when I could have just went to the counter and checked in there. P.S. You do know that your advertised price for rental is grossly misleading. The mileage cost was more the the rental cost.

Amanda R.This truck was clean but there were 2 issues with the truck--which didn't really affect my move substantially. Otherwise the truck was great. 1) the windshield was not cleaned before my trip, it was a mess, and during the trip the washer fluid ran out. It had clearly not been filled before my run. 2) there was a vibration in the truck that was more pronounced when I was running fully loaded between 55 and 60 mph. My hunch was that the front tires need to be spin balanced. The truck vibrated most when it was empty. For example, coming out of DC, it vibrated a lot. Also, I asked for directions out of DC to VA, the representative couldn't help me at all. Otherwise, she was very polite, efficient and knowledgeable. Her service for the most part was excellent..

Asking for an emergency contact at that point and expecting to verify that person doesn't make sense (I can't control when someone answers, etc). The other issue or recommendation - I believe UHaul should inform or recommend how to address tolls (Uhaul probably do somewhere in the fine writing - not acceptable to me). I believe the representative should note that at time of check in and note it somewhere when you reserve the truck.

Harry E.I was told the van had 1/16 tank of gas. When i started the van, that was true. Within 2 minutes after running, it showed less than 1/32. Half the needle was on the red empty marker. I almost ran out of gas before i could get to a gas station. That was poor service to do that to me. Someone should have run out and filled the tank immediately when it came in that way.
John M.I like the Uhaul overall, but the young lady that offered me services seemed like she did not want to be at work. Uhaul has changed a lot of things with renting a vehicle. She did not explain the changes like we had to inspect the vehicle alone. Upon return, I took the vehicle back, and the young man asked me to back in the vehicle. He eventually told me that he would take care of it but thats his job. Thank you!

WILLIAM D.George was excellent on Sunday, 5/22/2022. The line was long. He was taking care of everybody using two checkouts. At one time, I had two problems he fixed all of the issues. He is an excellent asset to U-Haul. I appreciate his willingness to help, especially at a time like this for me.

Also the first van I got was unusable and I had to be given a second van, which took 30 minutes. When I returned the van the sign told me to wait till a representative came to meet me in the garage. I waited for 20 minutes and finally went inside to find a representative alone on his phone and he told me I could just leaves the keys in the van and go, which was not posted anywhere.

kiosha C.Reserved a truck at NE location less than a mile away from where I'm moving. On the day of my pickup, less than a hour before my rental, they changed the location 20 minutes away from me. I asked if the mileage could be adjusted or if there was a closer pick up as this location wasn't accessible to me. Amber Hicks was rude and wouldn't help or look into anything at all. I'm not anticipating chik fil a service, but I also wasn't expecting them to try to make it harder for me. I was told I could wait another hour or so to see if the location had the truck. . Even though that was the reason I was there. She then preceded to tell me it's just 2$ a mile extra and I shouldn't be worried about it. After all of this, the truck barely turned over, the power steering was way off and smelled like it had never been cleaned before.

Paul E.I am pretty unhappy because I ended up paying $64 in fuel costs for a total of 13 miles traveled. I was anticipating using about 2 gallons of gas, so was expecting a fuel charge of $12 or so. But the fuel charge was $34 which is suspiciously low mpg (2 mpg for a 15 ft truck). I was also unaware of an extra $30 fee for the tank being below 1/4. It was at 1/4 when I got it, so I feel like I was set up for that. I feel I should have been specifically warned about that fee. I complained in person at the location and was told a manager would call me later that day. But I have not received that phone call. I marked that I would not recommend this location to get your attention. I would probably recommend it, but would be certain to warn them about the fuel charge rip off so that they would be sure to get gas themselves.

I thought that since I had ALREADY entered all the relevant information online, I would not need to do this all over again with customer service on-site. This whole process with cust service took over 30 minutes when I was already in a rush. I guess I should just expect to spend this amount of time no matter what while using UHaul. Staff at the S Capitol St SW location were very helpful and understanding.

Commillus W.If I push mobile pick up the system should actually work for that. Because the system did not work properly I was late picking the uhaul up technically. When I went inside of the store there were 3 associates, 2 were assisting customers and one was just standing behind the register. She looked me right in my face and didn't offer to help. Once one was done assisting customers instead of offering to help, they went to straighten the store. Horrible customer service for that. My time was not pushed back for the systems error or the fact that the associates refused to help when they both saw me waiting. I got charged for 2 days when I only kept the uhaul over night. Do better, this was the epitome of a bad customer service experience.

I specifically asked for a walk in storage due to storing of furniture, but I received a stack storage. We had to manually lift our heavy furniture in the air to place into space. I did not go back to customer service to correct the mistake because checking in was horrific. They ladies were on their cellphones, they did not look or act professionally welcoming. When they finally assisted me it took at least 30 mins or more to set us up for service. I was very confused on how long it was taking when I had already made the reservations by phone. I continued to be professional hoping it would help quickly with my processing in. I moved my things out of this facility storage less than 30days later. There is a very high need for training in customer service at this location.

Instead, I moved to a unit in baltimore near my daughter, 5'w, 5'deep 10' high. entry by a regular sized door. #6 I would point out the rent is high and increases frequently..
