The workman in the parking lot hooking up the equipment was very professional and very nice and welcoming. The employee working up front doing the contracts was extremely rude and unprofessional. While waiting in line behind about 8 other customers, we could hear her constantly blow up and yell at other employee's over her walkie talkie.

The self pickup option didn't work and I had to return when the office opened. It was so cold out that my phone (brand new pixel) kept shutting off as I tried to talk to customer service. Once open, I found out they never put my key in the outdoor lock box, so I wouldn't have been able to pick it up anyways. Once I had the key and I went to the truck, I found myself parked in. It took another 45 minutes for them to move the other vehicle blocking me in. (They couldn't find the keys to the van.) I had a moving crew waiting on me this entire time. This was cold, frustrating and a colossal waste of money. Upon returning the truck, I tried to talk to the person at the front counter but was adamantly informed they don't handle check-ins. My thought was great, that's not why I'm trying to talk to you but they never allowed the opportunity for me to explain why I was there. I ended up renting a second truck from the 5th St NE location and didn't have a single issue with their facility. Very frustrating. I would have rated the location 1 star but the gentleman who actually checked the truck in was very friendly and accommodating.

The term "Self Service Rental" is misleading as I assumed that I would be able to get the truck and drive away without having to go to the check-out desk and talk to someone to get the key. This was especially frustrating because the weather was literally freezing cold, but I stayed outside near the truck through the entire online process thinking that I'd be able to grab the truck and ago. I ultimately found out, though, I could have been doing all of that in the warmth of the office because I would ultimately need to go into the office anyway. I was pretty mad after this experience.



I believe her name was Alina (sp). She was very helpful. I will be back in a few weeks to rent a truck again for my final move.

The staff was unfriendly and was clear they could care less about customer service. I was given a truck that was on empty and the windshield was as dirty as physically possible. The employee didn’t know where the nearest gas station that would accommodate a 26 Ft truck was and didn’t care to look into it. Driving with that windshield on empty in DC was probably the craziest thing I have ever done to include a combat tour with the USMC. Dropping the truck off was just as ridiculous, waited in the bay for 15 minutes with nobody insight. Went inside to the desk where the employee had headphones on and didn’t even know I was standing at the counter. He finally told me to just go wait in the bay again because there should be people out there but he didn’t try to contact anyone or assist in anyway. Was finally met by someone who didn’t even say anything, just jumped in the truck, milled around on his phone and after 10 minutes of me standing there asked me to confirm my email and showed me my total. Unless UHaul makes this right I will never use them again which is a shame because I have had previous uneventful experiences.

I was mislead about my credit. I was told I would Rei even my $21 credit back if I return the Uhaul with the same amount of gas I received it in. I put my own money in to refill the gas, and I didn’t receive my credit back. This is extremely poor service.

One of the ladies(dark skin dreads) got into a verbal argument with my aunt and it was very unprofessional but the lady at the register was very nice and patient because it was my first time renting a U-Haul and I was unprepared and she explained the details briefly so she gets 5 stars. Also no one was ready to assist me to the vehicle and it was freezing outside i waited about 10mins but overall the store gets 4 stars. :)????

Just work with your employees customer service the office team is not friendly they don't welcome you well they pretend that you owe from them or they are your boss they don't speak well that is the only bad experience that I had everything else is good.

I was thankful that I was able to reserve and get a truck on the very day that I needed it.



The ladies in the front and the lady & guy in the receiving area were severely unprofessional. The two ladies at the front desk area lack manners and have no regard for paying customer’s concerns. I have never experienced an entire staff at a location ran by a bunch of scoundrels. The mere thought of that business maintaining a customer base in that location is laughable. Very disappointed, very unhappy, and I do not recommend this location. I wouldn’t wish this experience on my worst enemy. PS: The young lady with the green locs was exceptional. I feel bad that she has to work with those demons.



There was a lot of problem with the system for checking in and charging to a different card at check out.

While we only went to the storage locker about five times, half of those times the elevator to the second floor was not working. On the last visit, there were no push carts, making the move-out very arduous. Random people from the neighborhood seem to let themselves in and wander the halls.

Check in took forever because the employees were too busy talking and messing around with themselves to focus on checking me in. Then they sent me out to get a truck and there was no one to check it out so I had to return to the counter and ask for help. The battery warning light is on and needs service. Checkin was just as slow and I had to look for someone. It is a poorly managed location with poor customer service. Bad thing I live in the SW DC area and would prefer to use it but never again.

This is what I'm talking about. Walk in. Teller says: "We got you." before you are even at the desk. Paperwork's pre-prepared & done in under a minute. Walk out / Drive out. Time is money and Uhaul S. Capitol saved it on Sunday.

Staff was lazy and unhelpful, and when questioned they were combative and argumentative rather than calmly explaining. At the pickup the paperwork went smoothly without incident, but the staff back with the trucks basically ignored me. Made a point, even, of avoiding eye contact so I couldn’t get their attention. The people who work out back with the trucks really need some customer service training. Or they should be replaced. They clearly don’t care if they have a job, give the job to someone who would appreciate it. The spring/cable mechanism on the cargo door was in obvious disrepair. It malfunctioned and I was almost unable to close it. Cleanliness was not an issue. At drop off both of the men working out back were confrontive and argumentative. I was charged accurately and correctly.
