U-Haul really failed me this time. My rental experience was atrocious. This is the summary: 1) I reserved a 15' truck and auto transport online 6 weeks prior to travel at location A. I indicate that I will be picking up the truck first, loading it, and then returning to attach the auto transport. 2) The day prior to my travel, they send me a text message confirmation that they have the truck and auto transport, but it's at a different location (location B) from my reservation. OK, slightly less convenient, no big deal. 3) At 3AM (just hours before my pickup, and while I'm asleep obviously) I get an email saying my reservation is changed. But of course I don't get the email, I wake up at 6AM and drive across town to location B from my text message confirmation the day prior. They inform me at the store that the location for the 15' truck pickup was changed last minute to location C and that after getting the truck at location C I will return to location B to get the auto transport. 4) I drive across town to location C, get the truck, and take it back to my place to load it. 5) Just before I begin my trip to location B to get the auto transport, they notify me that the auto transport is actually going to be at location D, 39 minutes away. They no longer have the auto transport at location B. I'm frustrated, but I'm exhausted from packing and just want to get the auto transport and get going, so if they for sure have one for me at location D I'll be there in 39 minutes. 6) I start my drive to location D and get on the highway when U-Haul calls me (as I'm driving) to tell me that they just received confirmation that there is in fact an auto transport at location A. They ask me would I like to go there. Since it is closer than location D, I tell them yes, but of course now I have to change my route, get off the highway, and head back into the city to location A during rush hour. 7) When I get to location A, after some delay, they get the auto transport hooked up. Then they bill me $158.00 for the auto transport. I protest and tell them my reservation said $79.00 for the auto transport and that clearly ($79.00 x 2 = $158.00) they were double billing me. When I pulled up my online reservation, however, since I had already paid for the truck, my order was updated to show the $158.00, and so essentially the $79.00 was my word against their computer (even though I knew I was correct....the $79.00 was the main reason I chose U-Haul over one of their competitors so I didn't "forget" the price). 8) When I pointed out that it looked as though they were double billing me, they simply said "We can't do anything. You need to call customer service and they will help straighten it out." 9) I called customer service and, after a 20 minute phone call, they said "they will look into the billing dispute." So, I am very displeased with this whole experience. Not really interested in using U-Haul again.

I was fairly disappointed with the pickup process. I reserved a 17' truck weeks in advance of my move in date to be picked up (using my phone) at 7AM on 6/30. I got there around 6:50 and tried to complete the pickup process. After checking in, it said I needed assistance because something is not right with the equipment. The store was supposed to open at 7, but only one woman was there and she couldn't help me out because that wasn't her job/department. No one showed up to the office for over 30 minutes meaning I was waiting around outside before someone finally showed up. There wasn't even an issue with the reservation, but for whatever reason, the website told me I couldn't get the truck. This caused an issue with my move, because I only had a three hour time slot to use the loading dock. We were forced to use our small car to finish the move because we were told we couldn't use the loading dock after our allotted time. This could have easily been avoided if someone was at the office on time to assist and/or the website worked properly. Next time I will think twice about using this location.
The 24/7 process has 2 MAJOR problems. 1. It implies you do not need to go inside and wait in line. But I still needed to go inside to get the keys to the truck. 2. The website WILL NOT access my location from a new iPHONE with Safari running. I even turned on and off location services several times to prove it. My iPHONE/Safari works consistently well with other website using location services, so there is something wrong with your website.
My charge was wrong just waiting to see what the final charge would be
Lease the lighter weight furniture dollies, otherwise the orange dolly does the job.
Customer service was terrible. Staff was unfriendly and unhelpful. I've dealt with several uhaul locations around the country and I have never been so frustrated and disappointed. I will never visit this location again and I highly doubt I will ever be a uhaul customer again.

Front desk employees are great...but outside employees need better customer interaction training.Before I left...i showed the young man where the gas level was & he said ok ill take care if it when you return.I received my receipt & he charged me for gas.Last week I rented a truck with rhe transmission slipping & I still paid full price for the rental.Not to pleased.

Your system went down and it caused me to spend and additional 3 hrs at the uhaul location. Severely dissatisfied and will call at some point to request a credit.

The lady at the front desk did not know how to work the computer and it took me 45 minutes to get my unit that was *already reserved*. She then charged my card for the unit when I handed her cash. She was not paying attention. I could have missed my flight.
While the staff at the facility were friendly and helpful, the 24/7 pickup service did not work. I had registered to pickup the truck at 6am and planned my entire schedule around that. When I arrived to pick it up, however, I was unable to open the combination lock needed to access the truck. I called customer service and while the man I spoke with was also trying his best to be helpful, the lock itself seemed to be defective. I then had to wait 3 hours until the store opened to return for the truck, seriously delaying my moving schedule. When I got to the store, the employees were not able to remove the lock using the combination I had been given either, and I was told that this was a recurring problem. If the equipment at a given facility will not reliably function for 24/7 pickup, then U-Haul should not offer the service until that can be fixed. Had I known that the store was not adequately set up for 24/7 pickup, I would have made different arrangements such as picking the truck up the night before. This was an unacceptable mistake and, while I repeat that the staff were friendly and helpful, I was still charged for my entire rental window even though I could not access the truck at the time I had reserved it for and even the employees could not open the truck in the way that I had been instructed to open it.
Your COVID policies were super ineffective. I was told to take a selfie without glasses, but did not remove my mask. I assumed I would have been told to, given that everyone was expected to be wearing a mask. Then, for over 30 minutes I was not told that my selfie was inadequate, when the solution required 15 seconds of work from me and any of your employees. I lost a significant portion of time that made an already challenging day for me significantly longer.
It took almost 2 hours to get my van. The location's credit card system went down, preventing us from finalizing my rental. Additionally, U-Haul's remote check-in continuously failed during this period. Additionally, there is no parking accommodation or even nearby public parking. During the pandemic, I am trying to limit contact with others by driving myself, but was forced to park several blocks away in a temporary parking zone. At the very least it would be useful for employees to be able to direct people to areas with public parking.
The price was advertised at $19.95 and I drove less than 5 miles. The total bill ended up being over $40. That is a total misconception.
MAKE SURE LOCKS ARE REMOVED BEFORE PICKING UP TRUCKS. I picked up the truck and only until I arrived to my destination we saw the staff had not removed the truck. Very upset about this because it delayed our moving by over an hour since we waited for a staff member to drive to us and once he arrived, he did not have the right key so he had to break the lock to open it.
No place to park your car. It still takes an hour to rent, even with the app.
Purely out of principle, you shouldn't charge for two days when the entire rental was for ~5 hours.
Staff was not friendly or helpful at front desk. The yard lady was polite and helpful.
