FRANCISCO RWe followed signs to where (we thought) we were supposed to drive into to return the rental. There were cones in the driveway, but it was unclear as to why they were there. There were signs at the street and above the garage that indicated this is where we were supposed to drop off the rental. It wasn't until an employee came out mad and admonished us for pulling in through this location. He rudely said in a hateful tone that this wasn't the right place to pull into to drop of the rental. This was conflicting with the signs indicating otherwise. If they don't want people pulling into this location, then they need to either remove or cover up the signs. Also, not sure what happened, but the mad employee did not show that we returned the rental that same day we dropped it off (I wonder if this was intentional, as if he wanted to teach us a lesson). We weren't aware of this until another employee called us several days later asking if we were going to return the rental. We explained we dropped it off the same day we rented it in Corpus Christi. The employee on the phone said she'd talk to the employee and look around for the rental. It wasn't until later in the day that we finally got our receipt which we took to mean they found the rental. It stressed us out thinking we were going to be on the hook for the lost rental until we finally received that receipt. If I rent from UHaul again, I will find another location to drop off.

ROSITA BNo improvements are needed. We were seen promptly and finished the transaction quickly. As it turned out, I had thought I had ordered a hitch online, but it didn't happen. They had lots of hitches in stock, and we purchased one. The clerk, whose name I don't remember, was friendly and helpful. He installed the hitch, the trailer, and the wires for the lights and made sure they worked before we left. When we returned the trailer, the turn in process was fast and easy. Overall, we were quite pleased with the experience.
STACY RProcess the rental return the same day the vehicle is received. Do not charge for fuel when the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level it left with. I brought the vehicle back with MORE fuel than it had when I rented it for a couple of hours and I was charged 17.00 for 4 gallons of fuel. UNACCEPTABLE! I have photos to back my claim.

Then I went inside and had to do it all over again. I don’t know why you guys even offer to let people check in on the app when they just have to go inside and do it all over again. What a waste of time.
CARRIE DRented a truck that had a check engine light. I had about a 2 hour drive so it had me scared something might go wrong. I did tell the uhual workers but they said it was fine.

GEORGIA GMy frustration with all of this is that before I picked up my U-Haul in Elyria Ohio I informed the sales person that my destination had changed from Colorado city Texas to San Antonio Texas. Tell me why U-haul is charging me over $700.00 as a wrong drop off mileage difference. It was only 100 miles difference. On top of that, why didn’t the Elyria Ohio location update my new drop off location before I left? The only thing they updated was my current address. They updated my destination address to San Antonio but not my drop off location to San Antonio. That makes no sense and furthermore, I had to call around for the drop off location because Elyria gave me a number to call when I got to San Antonio because they were saying that there were no drop off locations close to my destination popping up for Spencer in the computer and I would have to call the 1-800 number he gave me in order to get a drop off location in San Antonio Texas .
APRIL K | First ImpressionsThis is a large convenient location. I’ve rented from here several times. It was a Monday morning and not very busy, either when I picked up or dropped off. The 15 ft. truck I got this particular time was clean, but not in the best condition. Still, it was fine for a short, local move. A couple of staff were on their personal phones when I was picking up, which I found off putting. Further evidence of the erosion of social norms and professional behavior. Then again, it is just a U-Haul rental place …

The return process is so fast and easy that it feels like "one and done". The website is easy to navigate, and all of the pricing is up front. I highly recommend.

Armando SWe went to just a pull dolly but they would not give one because of weight requirements. So we had to rent a truck from U-Haul and the pull dolly. The person that checked us out said that someone will bring the pull dolly out once we reverse the truck near the entrance of the yard where the pull dolly’s were located. We waited 30 minutes for someone to help. Finally when we did get help the person didn’t want to get the dolly that was on the paperwork because it was too far in the back so they made us go back inside to do another contract to get a dolly closer the the entrance. What should have been a 30 min in and out scenario turned into a 1.5 hours. I would not recommend this place and I would be telling all my family how horrible my experience was and how lazy then people here were.
ROBERTO MOne of the Spring clips on safety chains was broken. Yard guys both said they are not given parts or training to fix. Definitely will not come back to this U-Haul.
DOUGLAS KFuel charges felt excessive. I filled the tank back to the approximate level required (I even have the receipt to prove it), yet I was still charged an additional amount at a higher-than-market rate. With U-Haul’s digital fuel tracking systems, it should be more accurate and fair, rather than using estimates that result in unnecessary extra charges. I understand this business model, but nickel-and-diming customers over fuel when there are better tracking methods available seems like a poor approach to customer service.

She (please forgive me, I don’t recall her name. I was fighting a bad migraine!) Francesca, I think? I’m not sure! I’m so grateful to her for her compassion, help & kindness!! Kudos! Also Sold me an OVERPRICED box TRUCK that as soon as I loaded my personal belongings from my storage unit that I had been renting for years , THE Truck was stolen from The lot DURING business hours and Manager was notified she said she had to call owner first &NOT TO Call POLICE?? I had 2 large $250 a month units and had loaded 1st units contents worth over $25,000. Of my belongings with the intention of loading the second unit which is why the truck was still parked at the store , but the manner in which it was handled Was so Rude unprofessional and mean !

Forrest P | Overall ExperienceHonestly, it was such a hassle dealing with U-Haul and I deserve some sort of compensation. We reserved a truck over a month in advance for our travel. The day of pickup, they inform us that there are no trucks available. I drive 30 minutes out of my way and town to pick up a truck they didn’t even know was available until I showed up and reserved it. Then I had to deal with incompetent staff members at the facility to get a storage unit. I didn’t end up even getting one coz the one I reserved was not available and they needed to get managerial approval to give me 2 storage units next to each other since the one they put me in was too small. After 3 days, I got nothing and needed to unload everything before my extension time was over because they didn’t do their job and provide me with a storage unit as contracted.

The only interaction I had was being told where to park ensuring there was nothing else for me to sign/do. I never went inside. I didn’t do anything with the gate. I never saw hours of operation. I hope people look at these surveys. My recommendation would be to add a column of not relevant, or do a survey based on purpose of being at the facility.

Sonny S | First ImpressionsThe only issue I had was that I came home from Iraq and tried accessing my unit. The key would not fit into the lock. I tired asking several of your employees what was going on and nobody knew anything. I was told I needed a supervisor to cut the lock. A few days later the supervisor was available. Just so happened to be the same day I hired a locksmith. Supervisor cuts the lock. Turns out my wife entered the unit while I was gone, she locked it in the open position. Someone at U-Haul out a new lock on and didn’t tell anyone about it or made a note in the system. So here I am, wasted 4 days trying to get into my unit and $50 out of pocket (locksmith fee). Other than that, you need more staff. There shouldn’t be a 30-45 min wait to get a vehicle because you have 1 person working the counter.

The upside is that the manager went far above and beyond to reach a reasonable solution. he called and called again any and every resource but ultimately he made something happen for us. During this time, he had put his lunch off, and was bouncing between assisting many other big issues with customers. It was only him and another worker. His name was Matt Kalinec, he deserves a rise and praise. Will be sending him lunch for the lunch he put off to deal with our issue.

If they can’t help, they’ll quickly direct you to who can. They actually messed up my storage unit reservation when I was down-sizing, and they completely took responsibility. They notified me quickly, fixed it, and made me feel like they really cared about me as a person. I greatly appreciate all the gentlemen I’ve came across there!
Breyanna I | First ImpressionsI had to return a trailer half way through my trip and upgrade to a moving truck and a car transport because my little Ford ranger was struggling to pull the trailer. Technically, because this wasn't where I was supposed to return it, it was a "wrong location" and I couldn't return it. But couldn't figure out where I could return it. I called 1800gouhaul and got transfered 6+ times. Each employee claimed that they didn't have access to the info I needed. They couldn't make changes and didn't know why the previous person sent me to them. I think each employee should be granted access to everyone's order, be able to see all their info, and make changes. Everything is online these days. I should be able to contact an employee in a random state and they should be able to tell me where I can drop stuff off and make changes to my order. Each time I called to figure out drop off locations there was a 10+ minute wait. Calling 1800gouhaul again, I wanted to change my drop-off location because it wasn't the same as the storage location. The telephone line said that I could change it online. I would have preferred to do it over the phone. But after another 10-15+ min wait, I gave up. When I went online, neither my wife or I could figure out how to do it online. We asked the guys at the storage location if we could just drop it off there? They replied, oh, no. If you do that, we'll have to charge you double. Fruatrated, we just took it to the other location and dropped it off. Storage locations are free for the first month. Unless you don't have a round padlock. Then you charge me 10$?! I already had my own regular padlock with me, ready to go but you said, oh no, they can't be that type of lock. It has to be a round one. When I went to lock it up, my lock fit just as well as yours did. That was a totally unnecessary move on your part. The self storage container had two tears in the roof covered in white duck tape. What if it rains hard? Duck tape won't keep the water out.
RAY G | First ImpressionsFacilities are clean and well maintained. The interaction with personal was professional. The only negative part of my experience is waiting in line for a long time to be served. This seems consistent with most of the U-haul stores I've been to.

The employee I believe his name is Matt at 5810 San Pedro, San Antonio, Texas 78212 was fast, helpful, and very thorough. He gave me my paperwork, access gate card and explained everything to me in 15 minutes. I asked him if business was busy,and he said yes, but he was calm and friendly. I appreciate this kind of customer service. Thank you Matt! Uhail, please give him an accommodation for excellent service, especially for being at the end of the day. My visit was on 4/29/21, check his name to make sure I’m correct. Thank you again!

Two days afterward I received a late charge and was informed I was delinquent. Wait times at the store were also frustrating. Got there and Gloria asked for my information, tried to charge me another fee for the storage that I had already paid for over the phone. The gentleman I spoke to must have been new as he answered the phone telling me to hold on he was dealing with another, possibly irate, customer. I appreciate the 30days free. Maybe you all should give me another 30days for the inconvenience of having to provide info that was, or should have already been, in their database about my reservation.
