Selected auto payments for my unit. My credit card didn’t change or expire, yet there was no attempt to Bill it. I called customer support sat on hold for 20min to talk to someone. They couldn’t help me reverse the late charges that your company assessed without contacting me about the billing. There are no words to describe how awful my experience with UHaul was from day one right to the bitter end. From the debacle renting my truck in Regina to getting to Vancouver and having absolutely nothing go right the entire time. I literally don't have a single positive thing to say about it and I'm normally a pretty positive person. I've had a lot of storage units in a lot of places and I've never experienced anything like this. I did not at all have a positive interaction with any staff other than the janitor. She was delightful. Everything was a struggle and I don't understand why. It's such a simple operation, yet tons of ineptitude was found in places I didn't think had room for any. Zero stars out of 10. And yes, I can give specific after specific of why my rating is literally as low as it can go. I've never, ever rated a business this low before. It's not the first time I've rented a U-Haul trailer, it's always been fine, but this is my first time at this location. This time I had the worst trailer I've ever had. It wasn't in a condition to be rented. I took the 6'x12' cargo trailer to go from Vancouver (BC) to Quebec, a 5000 km run. (1) - They rented me a 3 tires trailer because the forth had a severe ''slow'' leak, I had to inflate the fourth tire every morning before to go; it was always at 15 psi in the morning! I'm sure they knew it because they especially told me before I left: the insurance I took doesn't cover the tires. It means if you call us to change the tire: you'll pay for that. (2) - As usual, every time I stop for gas or rest, I check the tires and the top screw on the ball coupler. The first time I stop, 4 hours later, I had to screw it down 3 turns of the screw because the small lever lock didn't do its job. I had to turn it frequently all along my trip. (3) - When they gave me the trailer, they opened it to remove some stuff (dolly...) that I didn't ask for. I noticed a dark circle on the right side of the floor close to the door. I asked if the roof was leaking. They assured me that it was not the case. When I arrive at my destination. All my items at this place were wet. So I'm very disappointed, especially for the price I paid, this trailer has been a pain in the butt the whole way.Nathalie L.

The place is too crowded with more trucks and busy-ness, which makes it hard to get a vehicle in and out. Returns after hours are a nightmare as there is no room to park. I wanted to get rid of the dolly and blanket pack in my truck that blocked the loading door and took up space They would not do it. Told me to talk to a manager. I went in to look for one - was told that no manager was on site. "He's in quarantine right now." Great. Truck mileage was not accurate when I checked in - nor was the gas level. I had to change those using the app. The one thing I wanted, a square furniture dolly I was told they could not rent one to me. Everything that could have been an issue - was. Just a frustrating way to rent a crappy truck with 300K miles on it. Did I mention I didn't even want to use this location to begin with? Please, Make a 26 ft truck a diesel ! The engine is fighting the wind and the load all the time= as a result = super high costs for gasolinne I have knowledge in Semi trucks and know what I'm talking about. Also, the advertisement on the trucks for high aerodynamics truly is a joke. There is almost nothing out there that is less aerodynamic than a moving truck.Felix N.

I booked a 6x12 trailer 2 months in advance for 7am, and the day before my rental I was told it wouldn't be available until 1pm and I would be GUARANTEED A 6X12 TRAILER BY 1. This was a slight inconvenience , so I wasn't too annoyed. The next day I found out that the GUARANTEE U-Haul offers is contingent on a CUSTOMER BRINGING BACK THE TRAILER WHEN THEY WANT TO. This customer who had my 6x12 trailer for 1pm decided they wanted to keep it for an extra day. THIS HAPPENED ON MY MOVING DAY AT 11AM. I had a 16 hour long drive that I needed to be on schedule for. They then offered me a 4x8 trailer which was too small for all of my belongings and I HAD TO THROW OUT PERSONAL BELONGINGS TO FIT EVERYTHING ON THE TINY TRAILER. This was completely unacceptable. DO NOT OFFER A GUARANTEE IF YOU CANNOT BE 100% SURE THE TRAILER WILL THERE. This makes Uhaul completely untrustworthy. What did I get for having to throw out personal belongings worth hundred of dollars? A $50 reimbursement!?! This is absolutely ridiculous. I will be talking with the local news about uhauls unacceptable service and how they treat their customers like utter trash. I will never use Uhaul again.Sean W.

I live in North Vancouver & was expecting the pickup to be at the North Vancouver location... This was not the case when I was contacted ~48hrs before the move-in date, and was told I had to pick up the U-Box at the SE Marine drive location as there was no available space at North Vancouver. Additionally, when I came to pickup the U-Box, there were no U-Box trailers available therefor I was offered a 5x8 trailer to transport my goods from North Vancouver to the U-Box. Thankfully, the person at the counter gave me my 1st month free on the U-Box storage given the inconvenience. Overall I felt this location was under-staffed in the yard considering it was end of the month, and my reserved equipment was not available.Thomas R.
I believe this is a simple misunderstanding. I was changed by the dealer to a smaller trailer, but was charged for the larger size. I was also charged an additional $20 fee. I arrived at the location prior to closing, and asked the gentleman out front doing returns what to do. He suggested dropping it off in the back and returning it using the mobile site. I had technical trouble doing so and called in first thing the next morning to ensure the rental was closed out. The parking area for clients was full, little parking. Recommend a sign to direct people to the rear of the store for pickup/drop off of trailers. Otherwise I will always recommend to people to move things using a 5X8 trailer that is easy to manouver, back up and with a low height can fit in most underground parkades.Michael H.

Check In Process is super confusing and was busy. Had difficult finding 9' Cargo Van, and then after 30 minutes of being lost, the car was then found and then not available as it was put back into the pool. The service I had at this location was quite good, however I tried to use UHaul's contactless pick-up, and I waited 20 minutes for my ID to be verified on the app before going inside to have them do it. Wasted a fair bit of my time.Alyssa L.

The trailer we rented had a leak somewhere in the floor, and while we were driving through rain some water leaked in, probably from the wheel well, and got our mattress, sheet, mattress cover and a protective blanket wet. We think we can salvage the mattress but I'm not impressed. As far as the UHaul location, it is very confusing trying to figure out where to park and where the customer entrance is. The lot is very chaotic and they really need more directional signs and/or staff who can direct you as you enter the lot.David D.

The staff working at 1070 SE Marine Drive were all friendly and helpful to the best of their abilities. A BIG complaint that I have is about uhaul online rental services - I had booked and paid online for some ready-to-go boxes three weeks before my moving day. When it was time for me to pick up my boxes, they did not have them in stock. I did get refunded, luckily. However, it seems absolutely ridiculous that you can pay to rent them online but they don't guarantee they will be available. What is the point of this service? If I had known there is no guarantee, I would have arranged for a box rental from somewhere else. I will be going to a different provider for boxes for my next move and will be sharing my experience with others so they do not use this rental service from uhaul.MEGAN P.

When I was picking up the Cargo Van and was doing the "Receive and Dispatch" walk around with the "Approve or Dispute" of various check on the vehicle, the app got Error "Your link has expired. Please contact your U-Haul reservation team"! I called the Support 1-800 line but then got transferred another department for help and it was a long long wait. I ended up just take the pictures of the vehicles where it had dent and scratch and the gas meter since it's about quart tank full instead of 3/8. If you can make the app giving the WARNING about running out of time and a shorter wait time for the Support that will be great. Thanks.Ivan C.

I was subject to very rude treatment by the customer service person, a female. I asked to extend my rental by a few hours but she said it was not possible. I told her I could not be back by 2:00, however, she just yelled at me. On the day of the rental, she called me on the phone and continued to yell at me, telling me that she needed the truck for another rental which was completely false. She then arbitrarily charged me for an additional day of rental, as well as a further $50 unauthorized charge on my credit cart. By the way, when I did return the truck later in the day, the lot was overloaded with trucks, particularly the 15' type that she said she desperately needed back. This is a complete scam used by Uhaul the charge their unwitting customers additional fees. I will be reporting this to the head office, as well as disclosing these tactics to everyone I knowALASDAIR A.

This business was poorly run. The whole team takes short cuts, makes untrue claims regarding the condition of their fleet, and the manager tends to disappear when there is an issue to be discussed. Right from the start the experience was terrible. I had a confirmation I thought I was done. Then they phoned me back and said the 15 ft was not available. I had already sent out emails starched with the confirmation. It was truly a sad mess overall in so many capacities. I don't think anyone is striving for better results at all. The location itself was clean and convenient. The person who did my check-in, however, was quite rude and dismissive. I explained that my reservation was on Saturday and she was adamant that it was not, even after I showed her the confirmation on my phone. She asked for my last name and rudely told me that it was for the next day and a different type of vehicle and that I was wrong. I then told her my full name and she found my reservation in seconds. Rather than look for potentially multiple people with the same last name (it is kind of common) she just told me that I was wrong and out of luck. After realizing she had made a mistake, she rolled her eyes and continued to process the check-in. I understand that it must be stressful working front-line at this location and I was just honestly put off by this interaction. If I did not have to rent that day in order to move I likely would have left. The truck was clean and in good order. You cancelled my booking multiple times, because you thought it was a duplicate. You never confirmed before cancelling. This happened multiple times. When you re-booked the 2nd truck for us the last time, you got the booking wrong and only booked it for 1 day and to be returned to the same location, not North Vancouver. I didnt get any email confirmations that i could review to see that you had booked it wrong. I then received multiple phone calls on Saturday asking where the truck was and it was supposed to be back and please call us. I tried to call and sat on hold for over an hour before i could finally speak to someone to say you had made a mistake on your end and that the truck would not be back tonight. Driving a Uhaul in Vancouver is nearly impossible so I wouldn't recommend anyone do it. One person tried to overcharge us for mileage so I had to go in and talk to someone who did reverse it when they saw how SLIGHTLY over we were. It was a waste of time. The online pick up is a bit hard to do because it is asking for so many things online - however , just line up to in person customer service - hopefully there is not a huge line up. Our order was done through the customer service line and the employee who took our order over the phone did not book our order properly. We were about to cancel when we realized at pick up how messed up it was but the manager helped us out. This only happened when I voiced my opinion with the employer at the desk and wanted to cancel the order and the trip. This was a business trip and while we finally completed it, we did so with a significantly late start. Our instructions were clear on the call line, but the employee did not perform her job well. We don't have an issue with the pick up location as they did their best to accommodate us.Brian C.
My only concern was the amount of mice droppings on the items stored. There were 2 bait boxes in my locker but not once was I asked for access so they could be repaired. I did not notice a single bait box in common hallways. I did look after I realized the amount of droppings in my locker. My only concern was that there was no facility to pull up a 15 Ft UHaul to offload at the storage. It was very inconvenient having to lug heavy furniture a distance from the storage. The other place I rented at the competition was perfect. It is always impossible to get through to the Marine Drive location. Twice I was put on hold for over 1/2 hour and the third time transferred over to the main reservations who were unable to help. TL;DR If you are planning to return a one-way rental here, add a whole day to your time estimate to deal with the ludicrous set up and disorganisation of this location. The staff was very helpful (until 5pm) and were able to resolve a number of the issues, but there were so many I cannot give more than one star. I'm sure this location is fine if you have a small locker, and only want to store or pick up a carload at a time, but it is an absolute nightmare if you are actually trying to store anything of size (especially while returning a large truck from a one-way rental) The "loading dock" is a narrow strip that is barely wide enough for the undersize trollies they provide. The entrance to the building off this narrow strip is a tiny door that you will struggle to get any actual furniture through. I chose a 10x10 unit, which UHaul specifically advertises for "Housing apartment or small home for short term move" and can fit "King mattress set, refrigerator, washer/dryer and living room furniture set"; U-haul apparently thinks it makes sense to put this unit UP A FLIGHT OF STAIRS. I called the day before arriving in town to get directions, and they didn't think it worthwhile to mention that the access from the main road was blocked by construction, and there was a long detour on a back road to get there. They said they had provided a lock already for the locker, and I paid, but there was no lock and I had to go back to the office twice to get one. They made me buy the lock even though I had my own which they said "wouldn't work" but I confirmed later that mine would have fit. There is very little room to maneuver a larger truck (e.g. 20") but one of the guys working there did pull it into the "loading dock" for us, but access and parking is still a huge pain, even if you are just coming by car. Because of the site access, and having to drag all my stuff up the stairs, I wasn't ready to return the truck until 5:02pm, but they had already locked the office door, and told me to checkout on-line. Of course, the online checkout system wasn't working (there was another person trying to return their van rental with the same issue).Maxwell H. | First Impressions

First of all we were directed by one of your staff members to back the truck against the ramp to make it easier to offload. When we exited the truck, he was way gone and there was about a 3 foot gap between the ramp and the truck. I am not sure if he expected us to throw the furniture from the truck to the ramp. There was no where to off load a 15foot truck with a ramp since UHAUL had all their trucks parked in the area I could have used. So we had to park at a distance and walk heavy furniture over. The people we paid to move never showed up. I just had surgery on my knee so my son had to offload an entire truck and walk heavy furniture over. Overall really great. My purchase timed out while on my iPhone so it didn’t appear to complete. I was surprised that it did. The purchase didn’t seem to be 100% mobile friendly. For the most part our move in experience at the storage centre was good. Staff were friendly and helpful. However, we were only told at 8pm as we were halfway through unloading our 15 foot truck packed with things that the bay doors had to be closed for the night and that the small regular entrance door would be the only one available. I needed to consolidate storage since the bill surged to $500/month between three places during a move six weeks ago. Logistics would be complicated, but in desperation to at least clear the uBox used for the move and avoid re-delivery charges, I discovered that this uHaul location also offers storage lockers at surprisingly reasonable rates. Configuration is VERY important, especially if you only have boxes. The locker I got is 10x10x6, 600 cubic feet, all useable. Paid the same rate for 5x10x10 in North Vancouver but get this - since you can't really pile boxes that high without some sort of reinforcement, what I was really getting is 300 useable cubic feet. Big difference. Also, when I consolidate the rest of the storage, any overflow can go into a uBox already on-site on demand. Cuts my total bill in half for now, then Marie Kondo it down later. To sum up, the quality of the facility - heated, each locker is alarmed and equipped with a sprinkler - is very impressive. Aftet driving 11 hrs we really didn’t want to hear thst our reserved locker was not available & that was first come first served. Our $149 locker became a larger locker at $199. The lock that I took off my previous locker was unacceptable so we had to use a loaner with one key or purchase a new one with 2 keys. The locker had two locks on the floor from a previous renter. The operation in the warehouse was short staffed. The silver lining was because it was near closing time the staff processed the uhaul trailer return quickly near the cargo bay. I chose the locker because the Richmond uhaul office ran out out the size while processing my credit card. Too many rental trucks and trailers blocking driveways and loading docks. I would consistently not be able to access my storage unit because even the pedestrian zone at the bottom of the loading dock would have trailers parked so close together it was impossible to walk there. Too many vehicles blocking the road in front of the office. The area needs to be redesigned so there is enough space for vehicles to actually drive through the area. Hello, I emptied the storage on September 6th 2020. I brought my stuff to storage last year in July and I was told and assured that there are no mice or rats I the storage. When I empty the storage there was mice poop under the couch and table. This is disappointing. Why say something and not keep up with the commitment. However when I moved out your female manager treated me very disrespectfully .. we had just drove there all the way from prince George and we were exhausted and still had the massive task of moving everything out. However, the exact conditions were not mentioned on the website nor were clarified when I spoke to a representative at the supposed location via phone. Secondly, the email sent to me about the reservation specified the store closing hours to be 7 pm. However, when I reached the Uhaul storage location, the location was closed by 5 pm.
