I was not warned about cost if I needed to take a ferry. I had to spend $400 for the ferry back and forth to Nanaimo! I was not aware this Uhaul vehicle would be charged a commercial rate. If I was informed about this I would have rented the next size down, which the ferry staff stated would be a regular rate. This is not good customer service and I am not happy. What a waste of my money when we are already to the limit with moving and buying a new house!

The person who received our truck was very personable and helpful. Can’t remember his name, but I’ll remember the experience

Have the truck ready. we had to wait almost 15 minutes for the windshield to get scraped. I realize this is a weather variable but i think we all knew it had been snowing and was really cold and icey.

Long wait times during pickup and drop off of equipment. The two employees I had to deal with were very polite but not trained well enough. I’d rate their service 3 or 4 out of 5 stars because I feel like I may have just had a bad experience, but based on this experience they get only 2 stars. I noticed that some of their employees seem to know what they are doing more, unfortunately I didn’t get to deal with them much. Aside from the inexperienced employees I had to deal with their was some sort of mixup in their trailer yard in regards to assigning me the correct trailer number, which is what caused most of the confusion. They were all very friendly but overall they just seemed disorganized. Sorry U-Haul. Good luck next time.

Both this location and the Grandview location were ill equipped to deal with my reservation in a timely manner. I will do my best to avoid using uhaul again, and will advise my friends and coworkers to do the same. Frustrated & Disappointed

When I booked and said the drop off location is Kamloops, no one mentioned that the chains that are mandatory on the Coquahalla highway, the most likely route up there, are not supplied with the truck. To my mind that’s negligent by the staff and makes the contract for hire dubious as the truck is not fit for the purpose it is being hired for. They should at least be an optional extra. When I was driving the ABS light came on whilst I was driving through the mountains, that was scary as heck. It went off when I stopped for gas and restarted. The location is fine, though again, the staff are good for run of the mill advice and to take your money, but when the question of chains came up, they dropped the ball and had no initiative or support. It’s such a stressful time moving house, I feel let down that the support wasn’t there, I could have been told weeks ago that either the truck didn’t need chains for Hwy5 or that it was but I had to find them. As it was no one knew if it was mandatory to carry them..... just still fuming

My main complaint about UHaul in general is the nonsense about trying to calculate how much gas is to be in the tank. When I got this truck, it was labeled as being 1/4 full and I was told to return it 1/4 full or I would face (needlessly severe) penalties. When I looked at the gauge the needle was a shade on the low side of 1/4. When I brought it back, it was exactly where it had been, but I was told that if I didn't go put some fuel in the truck, I would be charged some outrageous sum. So I drove some more and put gas in it. This is needlessly troublesome for renters. You should provide each vehicle filled with fuel, and require that they be returned full. None of this approximating how much fuel a customer needs to purchase in order to have the same amount as when they got it. Full to full is the easiest way and you should do it that way. I think the way you do it is an unconscionable cash-grab and it really needs to stop.

Checking in to return the truck was simple. I was greeted nicely. The employee followed the U-Haul procedure as he was telling me what he was doing on his mobile device. Once finished, he showed me the screen with the final amount to be charged, explaining each concept. The only thing that was missing was the $25 CAD I was supposed to get by returning the truck clean, which in fact was clean, and the employee made the observation to his peer who was just passing a moist cloth over the floor mats as a final touch to have the truck ready for the next renting. After we were done with the truck I went inside to return some unused supplies, and the lady at the counter helped me getting the credit for those. She also tried to help me with another issue, and although it could not be solved, I appreciate her going the extra mile. The other "issue" is related to the online purchase of supplies which I did at the time I reserved the truck, thus I thought my supplies (paid online already) and the truck rental were one thing altogether... it turns out they are totally independent one from the other. Long story short, I moved withour those supplies! And I don't know where they are... I only hope to succeed in getting my money back. I feel sorry for all the U-Haul employees that have helped me in my moving outstandingly because I am including this negative comment... but I truly feel that U-Haul needs to know in order to keep providing the great service the rental employees are able to give. I would rent a U-Haul truck again BUT I would NEVER order supplies online again!

Need to invest in employee training, safety is non existent here and this is the second time I’ve rented a trailer here, where the trailer has mechanical issues, according to one employee there, it’s like that all the time and management don’t care.

The customer service of the person at the front desk was quite bad. Her attitude towards the customer was very negative.

Waited over 24 mins for service!

Hire a clean team. Cargo truck inside windows were filthy and hard to see thrue.

The only real issue was we picked up at the marine drive address and then dropped off there as well we were told we HAD to take the vehicle to the Richmond address. This was unacceptable! We told the clerks this. They had to call the manager and in the end we did not need to drop off at the other location. However this confusion wasted quite a bit of our time.

You lie about your 19.99 rental rate. It wasn't until I was in the office signing my rental contract that real cost in the hidden mileage charges was revealed. My 19.99 rental plus insurance with 1 short trip inside the city limits cost close to $70.00!!! Plus you show that a cube moving truck is as cheap as a cargo van or pick up truck, but turns out the mileage for each is different. So misleading. Was surprised however how new and clean the cargo van I rented was, it was perfect, if expensive. Especially after all those negative consumer report news stories that were done about U-HAUL a few years ago.

The equipment was clean, but the vehicle struggled while driving it. Didn't shift in to gears very smoothly. Customer Service Rep at the location was fantastic ~ thank you.

Terrible terrible terrible customer service. Have never even been to a convenient store with worse service... the people at the front really need to step it up. will not ever return or use uhaul ever again.

Huge line-up. Truck was dirty. Reminded about insurance coverage with every person I talked to, even though I signed that I acknowledge I was waiving it. Even though when I first booked storage at this facility the person at the desk told me I could get a refund for unused time, I was now told that the facility does not pro-rate on storage.. so I'm stuck paying for an empty storage locker for two weeks. The fuel system is just utterly stupid.. having to return the truck at some random point on the fuel gauge without some actual, precise measurement means people will more often than not overfill and Uhaul gets a nice little cash-grab.

I have rented from this location several times. Everything is always great!

On balance, a highly professional operation. No constructive criticisms to offer. Staff were very professional and helpful, both on the phone (reservations) and at the counter. We hope their names may come up in yqour tracking system, they deserve credit. We would not hesitate to recommend, or to go there again.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful...thanks yet again Uhaul

Train your employees to deal better with non Canadian drive licenses. Respect the reservation done before I go to this location.
