I was in the store several minutes and never was spoken to by an employee. 2 were behind the counter (one in a cell phone). One was propped up on boxes in front of the counter (I think he was the store manager) on his phone. I had to engage them. They act like they could have cared less if I was there or not. Dropped the trailer off and received the same rude behavior. Seems to me there needs to be an overhaul at this location. Our equipment was broken when we picked it up- couldn't be fixed, a ratchet had to be replaced and it took him 2 1/2 hours to do it. We lost driving time, almost missed the movers. Not happy. Wasn't offered any kind of compensation. Then when we returned our products they were so busy at the new location that we ended up receiving a statement telling us we dropped off just the auto transport at the wrong location? I was charged for mileage an gas from previous renter. It was not disclosed at time of payment to check milage an gas in truck. That for one is what UHAUL employees are paid for, not to sit behind a desk. No I will not refer anyone and I will spread the word to be sure people know how customers are charged extra. It is the employees responsibility to inform us of what milage an gas are in vehicles not we the customers responsibility. The experience was so poor that I will not be using this Uhaul location ever again, and since it's the only location in town I will probably not be using Uhaul at all unless I relocate. I was told that the receipt would be emailed to me, after several hours without an email I called. The person who rented and received back the vehicle answered my call. She told me that I had exceeded the 20 mile distance that I had rented the vehicle for and that I was being charged an additional $20 for the excess milage. I told her that this was impossible since I only took the vehicle to my house, which is less than 3 miles away, and then straight back to her location, and therefore there must be a mistake. She then became very belligerent and condescending and told me in a hostile manner that there was no mistake, that she had personally checked and recorded the milage. I asked her how I could have gone $20 above the 20 mile limit when I only had the vehicle for a half hour. She angrily cursed at me and then terminated the call. While I was on the phone with Uhaul customer service I received the receipt showing the proper milage, but the damage has been done.Michael C.

The problem I have is customer service. The 2 ladies behind the counter did not act as though they wanted to be there. Barely any eye contact and no smiles. This store was the worst store I have ever dealt with. I had no choice as it is the only full store that is In Tuscaloosa. They said there were pads on the truck and there were none. I was charged for two sets. The timing of loading was too tight to come back. No dolly. I wouldn't have had a truck if it hadn't been for customer service and scheduling. The store did nothing to find me a truck. They wanted me to drive 200 miles to pick up my truck. The clerks were rude and condescending. They did not go over the truck with me but just started it and ran away. I'm so disappointed and will not use uhaul again.TERRI H.

I was told on two different occasions someone was too busy to help me. And the truck I rented broke down. It was the worst rental experience and will not ever rent from this location or uhaul again!ivan H.
I had set up a 20' truck with extra miles and insurance. Driver was Noted as Jacob Crosby. I prepaid all to make sure Jacob had no issues. The truck was picked up and I received a copy of documents that had a name on it that was unknown to me. The damage waiver ( paid for) was declined! I called but local above store was â€œ not taking callsâ€ therefore I was directed to corporate. I wanted to assure I had damage waiver and was told it is not in my name, eventually transferred to store as originally intended. Male person answered with an immediate attitude that he didn't have time for phone call. I told him situation and he said it is not in my name so I can not discuss with him. I mentioned payment was made and it was my reservation. He responded that it isn't now and I have no authority to change. I said the person on file is not going to pay for damages if any. Man said he is required to ask if damage was wanted or waived ( already paid didn't matter). I asked how could I be the prepaid contract holder and it be allowed for someone else to take over? He told me I was not listening and repeated it was required to ask about damage waiver. I asked how he would collect if damage? He said with card on file - MINE!) how is that right? Man said I was threatening him? I said No, just asking how this can be on my card but I have no say so? I guess this was threatening and he hung up. Very rude and of course not answering phone or questions. Seemed to play a race card as he didn't care to explain how this could be! So does UHaul allow any person to walk in and take over a contract by showing a license but keep there customer on the hook ( card) to take responsibility for a strangers decisions. I have tried twice now in two years to get a moving van from this location. Both times I had trouble, even though I had reservations. The first time I was in line behind another customer who was being back a van that had a flat tire. They said here you can take this one instead. I thought to myself - hope that wasn't mine:.. yep! It was! There was a lot of anxious shuffling behind the desk as they told me my van was no longer available... they said I was out of luck. So I waited until a different vehicle was returned to them and I then took that one. This year I was shocked when I was delayed in getting to the facility (I flew from California to Birmingham, AL. Had to get a ride to Tuscaloosa). They said the 800 number had cancelled my reservation. They said they had nothing else available at all. No other size or anything. They were not kind of helpful and told me it was my fault and I should have called to say I would be late. So I from their parking lot, got on the app, reserved the van I wanted and just used the app to check it out. Also last year I witnessed one of the employees driving with a dumpster suspended in the air. They could not see around the dumpster and promptly drove right into a customer's car. This place needs a review by corporate!!! I have now read the reviews online and I see I am not the only one to have big problems!April O.

I am deeply disappointed and appalled by the treatment and lack of customer service by your staff at the Skyland location. The employee was snippy and very short with me throughout my checkin process and was extremely bothered that she had to show me and my son how to get to the available units so we could see which unit to rent. We had to trample through a repair garage with tools, boxes, fans and crap all over as well as a car the repair guy was working on. It wasn’t until the very end of the process, when I was paying for the unit, I had asked for her name, which she hesitated in answering that she decided to be nice. I am in the customer service business and I would never treat a customer the way she treated me and this transaction.
