I normally deal with a gentleman that works there and he gets things done the right way but this time it was the worse experience and she asked me to leave with out giving me my change back so I have to go back and pick it up later. She was disrespectful, yelling and vet bad attitude.

DAVID RThe staff was originally really friendly and helpful. I has intermittent turn signals which they tried to repair for me. They were really trying their best even changed one turn signal for me. The second time I brought it back the manager was out and the attendant told me they would call me when the manager returned. They never called. Unfortunately part way into the trip the intermittency started having problems again. In other words, the staff was mostly great but the trailer likely needed to be rewired. If it helps it was plate number 55115.

BRENDA KThe truck I was scheduled for was broken down at my time of pickup. I rented an appliance dolly and was billed for it only to find out this location did not have any dollies. I scheduled to pickup my online reservation at 11am didn’t leave the location to almost noon. Appears this location is under staffed and not well managed. Like why did I have to pull my truck out of an alley? Completely unacceptable! Not having the equipment I needed costed time, having my movers wait an hour until I arrived with the truck had be paying extra for labor and looking for a dolly added extra travel miles all at my expense

DEMETRIA EThe uhaul center smelled like marijuana the employee was blasting unpleasant music while confirming my reservation wasn’t helpful at all, I was forced to drop at another location because my id was out of state which charged me more. The dolly I reserved was confirmed on my paper I received but Marvin never gave me the dolly or assisted with locating the uhaul truck, but instead gave me the keys and told me to verify which truck and if it’s incorrect to bring it back. Later in the day I had to call and report it to receive a refund and remove the dolly off of my bill
Chantz LI will never rent from uhaul again! Poor customer service, employee arguing over who will service me for 5 mins. Transport defective, not properly maintenance and transport frame split on me on highway, they inconvenience me out of $2000 only willing to reimburse me $500. Please use another service for your moving needs!

Xavier GIt was the worst experience,I ever had renting a uhaul! I have been a consistent customer for the past 2 years. I move my family across the country and choose uhaul and I had a trip from hell. First off I'm disabled and unable to carry and move belongings. The employees argued over who would attach the auto transport for over 5 mins finally one reluctantly coming outside to attach auto transport. This was my first time ever towing any vehicle. I didn't get full assistance on loading vehicle onto transport and securing it i had to call a friend to come to uhaul to assist me in securing vehicle to auto transport. The auto transport was defective and didn't remain secure because it was lacked regular maintenance . I noticed Indiana while gassing up , the left tire strap was no longer securing the tire! The fact that I'm disabled i had to find assistance from a truck driver at a rest area. He assisted me in putting on tie down straps on tires. A couple of hours later tie straps broke on vehicle , I had to secure with bungee cord with wife assistance in the cold on freeway after hearing tie down snap. In Missouri in Joplin after refueling again, I get on freeway the left side of auto transport collapsed and left tires blow out to the rim. The response time from a actual person was over 30 minutes which is unacceptable being on dangerous part of highway. From my chat with agent, I expressed the dangerous situation of being potentially being hit. The sheriff department saw my unsafe position on the highway and put his flashing lights on for protection. After the officer inspected the trailer he saw it was defective. Over an hour later uhaul rep still hadn't secured roadside assistance. Based on the frame being broke and waiting over an hour for assistance. Tow company Metro shows up and disengage transport from truck. My wife had to drive car additional 7 hours to our destination. Because of the collapsed of auto transport after moving belongings in I have several furniture pieces damaged! I will be sending complete pictures and details of my ride from hell!

Told me I needed to call the 800 number. 800 number told me to talk to manager at office. She handed us a receipt for the extra charge and told us it wasn't hers to deal with. I've rented from uhaul quite a few times. And the experience, all the way around, was awful.

JOSHUA MI have been paying at this facility for over 3 years just to have things stolen from my unit. I came to move things out and the door had a hole in it and some of my things are missing. Not satisfied at all consistently paying and having items come up missing when I move out is ridiculous. Never again and never will recommend to anyone!

ikisha dEverybody was rude and unprofessional, when I came in to be helped it was people ahead of me which I didn’t mind but if I reserved my time I wasn’t sure why my U-Haul wasn’t ready at that time. When it was my time to be helped the lady walked out helping somebody else leaving my mind to wonder if she was coming back or not. Very low staffed and bad energy.

GREGORY HOnly two of the staff were professional, Maya who assisted me, went above and beyond and was very helpful and insightful to my needs. I made my reservation through her initially. Once I arrived someone else assisted me (they never mentioned their name). That process went longer than necessary because of internal issues but my main concern is that I was told one thing and today when I dropped off the truck early, I was told another. The principal of the matter is that there was a conflict in communication with me the customer and I lost money, regardless of the amount, due to it. My key take away from this is, professionalism, transparency in communication and accountability is standard in operating a business that deals with the public. The employee , who never said their name, who checked me out today only had to simply apologize for the miscommunication instead of projecting her aggravation’s of her coworker’s mistake onto me to make me feel as if was the one who did wrong or was not following verbal/written constructions in the contract. Every employee should be saying the same message and because of their neglect, I paid for their mistake and in-humility. I’d rather go back to the U-Haul in Midtown than to return to Joy Rd location where professionalism is hit or miss. Thanks but no thanks on that.

LINDA SI would let them find they're choice of location. The service was super slow. The guy who works there was just sitting around while people needed to be checked in and out. Radio in the truck I rented didn't work, which is annoying on long drives.

Luckily I'm going back to the new center area because they opened up their first floor with storage units I am happy to say I would not be leaving U-Haul I'm just leaving off of Joy road 😊 I really do enjoy the convenience that U-Haul provides.

Jeanetta R | Overall ExperienceI must give UHaul a poor rating because I am highly disappointed. I rented a storage on December 26, 2023 at Uhaul on Joy Rd in Detroit. I moved out on Friday December 29, 2023. The first unit was vacated because the code would not allow access without coming across the street to ask for help accessing the unit. I upgraded to a larger sized unit but the lock was not able to be put on the unit without coming across the street for assistance to ask someone to help put it on. I have rented another unit at another facility and would like a refund. I was not able to enter into the storage unit without asking the busy clerk to follow me across the street to let me into the unit because the access panel was broken so I could not use the entrance pass. I upgraded to a larger unit hoping I would have a better experience but not so! I still needed to go across the street to ask the busy clerk to help me put the lock onto the unit because the lock lock placement hook was misaligned. The attendant had to use a screw driver to hold the latch together in order for the lock to be installed. I removed my belongings and found another storage location so that I could have complete access without bothering the clerks. I have since left a voicemail and text message asking for a refund with the general manager Dame and have not heard back. I also called customer service and was told they would contact him and ask him to call me back.

Jaylan (he identified himself as assistant manager said he will not do that). After unloading the vehicle I had to drive it to the other location. He was rude and hostile. The storage unit itself was dark, dingy, and dirty. It had no lights and had huge rat traps in there. I only continued with the rental because I packed all day the day before and drove for hours to get there. I had a loaded truck and nowhere else to store at last minute. I will never recommend this nasty location. The assistant manager was as nasty as the unit.

The general manager of the location has a arrogance about himself which is not professional when I picked my truck up he was not helpful when asking questions he just answered as he walked away not standing and trying to help. I ordered a dolly I was told it had been loaded only to get to my house start loading the truck only to realize I gotta go back to get it. The whole morning crew there were not helpful. The gentleman in the evening was very helpful

I called on the 9th of April and no one ever answered the phone. I called the corporate number and spoke to someone. She also tried to get in contact with them but wasn’t successful. She left notes on my account that I moved out of the storage units on the 8th but they were still trying to charge my card for the units. I called 4 more time and still the same thing happened. The fifth time I called I talk to someone who said she seen the note that were on my accounts that said I moved out of the units but she couldn’t close the accounts until the manager did a walk through. She took my payments off auto pay that day.

I also noticed that my other larger tent, the cover had been removed and was laying over my chair. I would have never left the cover off my tents. Especially the larger one, because the cover has rolls on it and that’s the way I brought it in and took them out. I went to the office twice and I have called the manager. Instead I had to keep going to the manager to gain access to storage unit, which was overwhelming to say the least. I Can you imagine moving in a surgical boot on your foot. Very frustrating.

A lot of my thing were destroyed in a flood from the roof of the facility. I decided to leave after the last rental increase. My things had rodent waste on them. I put them directly in the trash. :( I would not recommend storage from U-haul for long term, not more than 2 months.
