My unit was infested with mice and roaches, the mice damaged my belongings and after speaking to several people nothing was done about my property. Was going on a one way trip 1200 miles and sent me out with a dolly that had tires so bad it shook the the truck that we were pulling it with, kept trying to call uhaul help but sat on hold 20 minutes or more three times, added a of unnecessary stress to the tripJohn R.

I was charged $150 for "damage" that is unexplained. I examined the vehicle before and after my use and photographed same and can see no changes. I was told that damage included the need to wash the vehicle exterior. While I did drive the vehicle during a day of continuous rain it seems excessive to expect a spotless vehicle upon a return. One of the employees called me just to tell me off because I parked the UHaul in the wrong location. It was a mistake, and I apologize, but he was just beyond rude. If you can't be friendly with people even in the most stressful situation, don't get a job that involves customer service; it's as simple as that. We reserved a rental on June 14th for July 29th-30th. I had my nephews take off of work so they could drive over and load the truck and move me to Peru, IN. I received a phone call the night before I was supposed to pick up the truck telling me that there is no truck available for my move. Not only did I ended up having to pay for one more months rent at the apartment I was moving out of l, when I showed up for this rental pick up I was again told there was no truck available and I had to drive an additional 75 miles out of my way to pick the truck up from a completely different location and then charged an additional fee for an overage on miles. I rented a 20' truck from (2010 S Philo Rd, Urbana, IL 61802) for 24 hours on July 28, 2021, at 5:00 PM for $79.95 (with insurance). I was supposed to return the truck the next day at the same time. The movers I hired didn't show up. So, my son and I had to move our furniture to a new place, which is only several blocks away from our old place. We're not movers and it took us a long time to move everything in several trips. It was about 12:30 am, when we were done. However, I kept updating U-HAUL from time to time and thought that we could get it done by 5:00 PM the next day. I hurt my back in the process of moving and that is another reason why we couldn't get it done on time. Anyway, whatever the reasons, it can happen to anyone and a customer shouldn't get threatening calls and unreasonable charges... especially, when I update them every few hours. I returned the truck around 8:30 am (July 30, 2021) the next morning. I was trying to return the truck through the U-HAUL app. However, the lady (Aisha Zamora), who made all those calls told me to stop doing it since I would get charged. She did mention losing three customers over the phone. So, she charged me $150 additional ($50/customer) and categorized the charge as a "cleaning fee", when there was nothing to clean (my son took pictures). It's obvious that she didn't have the authority to charge for whatever customers she said she lost while the truck was in my possession. The total charge for about 40 hours was $288.14, which is outrageous. This lady shouldn't be in any customer service job. People like this jeopardize the reputation of a company. I'm not planning to let this go either since I'm thinking about filing a complaint with the attorney general's office for business malpractice and also file a complaint with BBB as soon as I return home since I'm currently out of state.Md Khalid S.

My Ubox arrived earlier than estimated date, so I asked if I can pick it up early with our agreement for self-delivery. The staff did not handle that well. They started a whole new reservation on the same Ubox and I was being charged for it. I spent the next two days calling both the facility and customer service because I was being charged $139.95 twice for the same ubox and insurance. When I called the staff at the facility, Jeremy just brushed me off and told me to call customer service. Customer service kept telling me to call the scheduler which is this Uhaul facility. After calling customer service like 4-5 times and the facility 3-4 times, finally things resolved correctly.CONRAD C.

Though the staff was friendly, they failed when it came to informing me how my monthly payments would work. Therefore, in spite of how clean, safe, and accessible the unit was, I am still frustrated that I ended up having to pay a late fee for my storage unit. When I did the initial paperwork in the office, I understood that I was signing up for automatic payments. I also never received a bill by email or postal mail in advance of my monthly payment date. It was incredibly frustrating to find out that I'd incurred a penalty fee after the fact. Whether or not the misunderstanding about autopay was strictly my fault, it is poor customer service not to send a notice in advance of a monthly charge. All other companies provide this courtesy. I understand the rules and why I was charged for returning the equipment late. The worker there was just rude on the phone and when I move back to NC I'm going to use a different company, I'm a manager at a facility and if my staff treated people this way they would be fired. The storage unit is spacious, clean, and easy to access. In addition, the lighted location on Philo Road adds an important safety factor. My only disappointment was with the intake staff person who conveyed some impatience or unhappiness, spoke too quickly and seemed to resent my need for clarification and instructions, avoided eye contact, walked ahead of me to the check-in area, and gave the check-in key card and lock to my friend, rather than to me. This dampened my enthusiasm, but I was otherwise glad to find this unit nearby (and without a fee for the first month because I had driven a U-Haul Cargo Van to Urbana from Galesburg, Illinois, as part of my relocation plan.Nancy L. | First Impressions

When I opened my unit there were rat traps and dead roaches everywhere. I understand the rat traps as a precautionary measure but I was very worried about the dead roaches. I asked an employee to sweep them out and he did! However, I am still very uneasy about leaving my belongings there in the event that more bugs are there. 🔥 I called, I forgot who, at around 4;30 PM on March 31, 2021 to see if there was a way to check online if my unit was locked because I had left town and wanted to triple check. The homie who was working there checked it for me and gave a call back promptly. Surprised to find service like that anywhere. Big ups to that staff. Also, though I had to pay more, the staff helped me change my unit to another one since the one I was given smelled like urine.
