My reservation was moved from the original location to a new one WITH NO WARNING FROM U-HAUL. Online, it still showed my location was U-Haul Moving & Storage Round Rock. I get there to pick up my trailer, and was told it was move to a location in Pflugerville. Went to that location and was told is was at another location in Pflugerville! So...3 different locations to try to get my trailer. I understand having to move reservations depending on equipment availability, but not notifying me is a huge "F" up you your part.KEN C.

When I arrived I was told to go park the trailer on the front lot and that I would be receiving a email once they check it in. No one helped me unhook the trailer from my vehicle which is unprofessional at the very least. Every other uhaul I have ever used has always hooked/unhooked the trailer when I came to return it. My truck was parked far in the back, out of sight, despite my reservation having been made an hour prior. The staff did not know where to find the barcode to scan to confirm my location in the app. The driver's side door of the truck did not seal completely, so there was lots of wind noise. Uhaul needs to get back to basics. ALL THEY DO is rent storage units and vehicles. Its not complicated, yet every customer service representative we talked to could not simply explain how Uhaul charges for truck rentals. We were told we could extend the rental on a daily basis, just call and reserve for another day. A couple agents told us we had to return truck, no options. We got through to a manager eventually, after much consternation and argument and he told us it was not a problem. Were we going to pay a daily rate with milage or a weekly rate with 750 miles included? Nobody could say for sure. WHAT? Why not, it's not rocket surgery. By the time we returned van, they charged us 10 bucks a day for insurance, but we had our own full coverage insurance so we got screwed to the tune of $210 with nothing we could do about it. If there is any chance customers could accidently opt for that insurance, the clerk should draw attention to that so we don't get screwed out if $210! It's NOT COMPLICATED, why do so many things fall through the cracks with these people. The trucks are good, the system is in place, its just that hardly anybody up there is effective at their job at the counter. I need to know what I am paying for with no surprises! Then we found out that we have to return truck after 3rd week NO MATTER WHAT for 30 day maintenance. NOBODY EVER TOLD US THAT. We were told that we would not pay until truck was returned at the end of the rental period when the milage was counted. Then they proceeded to debit my account for $750 without notifying us. WHAT THE HELL UHAUL? If there were ANY alternative to Uhaul, I might be inclined to try them instead. I guess Uhaul has cornered the market and doesn't give a crap, they can afford to b team it and phone it in like amateurs and get away with it. Not to up charge for gas when it was where it was left at. Plus let someone know about the different types of cards that can be used. For example a debit card cannot be used in replacement of a credit card. Which by the way is ridiculous.Jasmine C.

I made a reservation a week in advance at a location near where I needed the trailer. When I arrived I was told the trailer was not located there and I would have to drive 30 miles to go pick it up (and return it other location). This was a major inconvenience and was not mentioned on the website, nor was I contacted ahead of time so I could build in additional travel time. This could have been avoided with better customer service by uHaul.Michael G.

I paid for 24 hour access and the last day before I moved I couldn't get in. Which caused me to push back my out of state move half of day. Was not told by customer service that there was 2 versions of rental. One Way rental or In-Town rental. I used the In-Town rental which cost me more per mileage to rent and I had to return the truck back to original location of rental which was out of my way. The lady at the rental location told me that I should have chosen the One Way rental which would have saved me mileage cost and I could have left the truck at the closets location to me. I called customer service twice to see if I could leave the truck closer to my location. Not once did they recommend using the One Way rental. Also customer service rep seemed very un-professional and acted like she did not want to be there at all. You guys need to either pay your team more so they will care about their job or start firing people not performing to a higher standard.John L.

Gas not refund first was 1/4 gas left so I put full gas til finish with uhaul I drop off place it was 1/2 should have refund some. it expensive to pay gas should have refund where have left gas person say sorry not refund huh really serious!!! The customer service is the worst. I tried doing the self service mobile pickup, but it would not work. Their was no other customers in the store and they still didn't want to help me, they just said sorry we can't help you or assist you if you are having trouble picking up. I could not believe how unprofessional and rude they were. I rented a larger truck the day before from penske and penske customer service was great. I going to make sure I post how bad this location is and how much great penske is all over social media. Never use Uhaul again.Cary B.

Making reservations through your web site on a PC is very poor. The expectations is a phone or mobile device, and it is bad customer service. Navigating through the rental steps is hard because the decline of additional services on each step is not easy to find. Granted 99% of rentals need this. I got directed to another U-Haul page the first time. Lost a second reservation because I had to scan my driver's license as a jpeg - not stated on the web page, and lost a second reservation because it times out. Then I get to the rental counter and have to provide another scan of my license!!! WHY?? You have it, how many places do you need it and why??:?!!!???: I am not happy with at least 2 copies of my license in your database. That has enough information for identity theft. If I find out this has caused a problem, I will come after your company.Two copies is ridiculous, a waste of time and energy, and a security hazard. I rented a 5x15 unit but the door to the unit was probably 2 feet wide. You couldn’t even fit a couch through that door. If you rent a 5 foot unit you expect it to be 5 feet wide to get into it. The entrance was ridiculously narrow. Also it was very unclear how we retrieved the key to lock the unit. I got there the day I said I would but there was a zip tie on the door. I never received Instructions on how to open it or how to get the key. When leaving we had no idea how to get out since the gate it also closed from the outside. I had to get out of the car and go open the gate from the outside then drive through. We canceled our rental the next day and got a refund. I was expecting first month free because I rented a uhaul trailer but the assistant said I find the qualify because I wasn’t returning the trailer there. I asked if I could return it there and she said no because they weren’t accepting trailers. She shrugged her shoulders and said it’s hit and miss. Note: I had rented a unit the prior weekend and received the one month discount even though I didn’t return the trailer there.M M. | Online Move In
They did not make sure the unit was ready to be rented. The wire protection cover was on the floor the light bulb was broken off in the fixture exposing the inside of the bulb. When I asked to have it replaced before moving my belongings into the unit I was told that there was no one to do it. They did not offer to give me a different unit that didn’t have this issue. I had scheduled moving help by the hour with U-Haul and had move into the unit that day at that time. I received an email asking me to rate the storage facility that evening and then I received a text message to rate the facility. I thought I would call the manager who’s name was on the e-mail and text message to see what he do about the situation before I wrote the review/rating. I called the next day and spoke to the manager. Instead of apologizing for the situation or trying to correct it. He just said the maintenance crew was only there Monday to Friday till 11am and for me to come at that time to have it fixed. When I told him that half of the unit would have to be unloaded now for it to be fixed he then told me that U-Haul was removing all the lights inside the units and that they no longer felt lighting was necessary. So I could come at the time he told me to have it fixed. But I guess it was my problem about moving my belongings in order for maintenance to so. He claimed no responsibility to the fact that he rented me the unit with this issue and that now it was my problem not his. This is an inside unit not an outside unit that when you open the door you have the daylight to be able to see while in the unit. Very disappointed with the lack of customer service by the unit having this issue and not rental ready and no customer service at the time of move in or after the move in to take care of it. When I was getting the storage unit, your website said that if we were renting equipment that we would get a month free. I input the reservation number for the trailer that my husband made for the trailer and it said it was invalid. He did rent the trailer. When he asked your employee about it in the store when renting the trailer, she replied with "I've literally never heard of that, we don't have any discounts, your rent is 89.95 a month, do you want it?" Not only was this not what your website told me when I rented it but it was extremely rude. Then when he returned the trailer the employee checking it is came around on a skateboard and said they didn't have a trailer scheduled to come back to which he replied, oh well I don't make enough f*ing money to care, it will be my managers problem. After unloading everything the same employee was very helpful getting me a gate remote to make my upcoming visits easier. There was only one person working when we came in on Saturday morning. While the employee was very friendly and helpful once we were able to engage with her, there was a long line when we first got in, which continue to grow while we were there. She did not address the people in line let us know that she would be with us monetarily. It does seem as though she could’ve use some additional assistance, or just being more responsive to a line forming. She informed us that our unit should have put a lock in it, but there was no lock. When we went back to let her know this, she was still with another group and there was still a long line, so we gave up. The outdoor drive-up option wasn’t available so I got an indoor climate controlled and it was nearly impossible to figure it out. Their simple 1-2-3 process didn’t work at all for the indoor facilities. After it took me 20 minutes to find my garages, I set off the alarms because I didn’t know I had to check it at a specific box, and since I did it all online, I don’t have the handy swipe card that others use to check in and out EVERY TIME I go to load stuff in and out of there.Connie S. | Online Move In

Was told that I would have a unit with outside accessibility....wrong. Told me that they would charge me a trash fee when I put 3 empty boxes in dumpster. Told me to buy my own lock...only to find out that I was required to use their lock. Not a good way to run a business. My only constructive criticism I have is the inability to contact the staff by phone at this location and lack of follow up to messages left by my or the UHaul rollover call center staff. I understand that Anthony Tompkins works there by himself most of the time. And perhaps that needs to be addressed so customers (past, present, future) can speak with him directly about critical or timely concerns. Or perhaps the main UHaul customer service line could have access to current availability at any of their locations across the USA. Other wise Anthony Tompkins has mastered all the information & operational knowledge of the Steeds Crossing UHaul facility, and possesses and practices great customer service skills.Kathy F. | First Impressions
the only con was the door to the outside, although we have a bigger unit (10x15x8) the door to the outside of storage building was a standard sized door and made it difficult to bring in our fridge, sofa, washer/dryer. I was paying to for my personal property to be stored and secured. instead the main gate to the storage area and covered parking was always breaking down and open for anyone to enter. not enough security cameras and lighting in storage area but plenty of lighting to protect uhaul equipment parked around office building. I had two thefts from my recreational vehicle totaling $400.00 dollars and when reported to uhual employees didn't care or make an attempt to assist. My travel trailer was damaged twice by attempted break-ins and theft of both propane tanks! Security cameras are 720p and NOT pointed toward the customers trailers. The 1080p cameras are all aimed toward the U-Haul vehicles and equipment. Customer vehicle safety appears to be secondary! Oh yes, Even though the very desirable covered RV sites will be rented quickly, no rebate for time unused even when rented to another customer the next day. Lucas is an amazing manager. He really went above and beyond to take care of me. I have had so many problems, almost monthly, with the billing department not being trained correctly in how to process an electronic check. This time there was a typo and my unit was scheduled to be cleaned out. I considered this experience to be somewhat hectic and disorganized. The truck I rented for moving was ok, but the driver door didn't shut and the alert stayed on that the drivers side door was open while driving. While being issued my storage area I was assigned to the wrong size, an alarm went off while trying to open the door. The only reason, they get 3 stars and not 4 or 5 was because of billing issues. Their system tried to charge me twice several times. Sending Non payment notices even though i was paying direct withdraw. The place itself, was good. The employees were nice and fair. Especially when I had to call customer service reference to being sent non payment bills.
